Worst Napalm guitarist...Justin played all the great riffs on side A, Bill made some strange forgettable noise on side B. Then they treaded water until the powerhouse duo of Mitch and Jesse.... well I do like the Mentally murdered EP, but yeah just don't care for Bill Steer's sound in Napalm.....
Napalm is the band that when a groove hits the speakers, I can only think "how no-one else wrote this??" Time and time and time again, also their albums after 2000 are even better imho. Great job mate feeding us with shots of heaviness!
Inpropagation is such an underrated Carcass song, and Pedigree Butchery, Carneous Cacoffiny and Forensic Clinicism/The Sanguine Article are all up there with the best Carcass has ever written
@@phntmsmshr Yeah. Throughout years, regardless of temporary gaps in certain music interest, I frequently grab this CD, start up Inpropagation.... then being increasingly mindly tangled and focused for 45 minutes and think "OMG, how dared I not to listen to this gem for such a time" 🙂
It's funny how these two bands had been doing similarly crazy stuff in the early years and later on sort of grew up and settled on somewhat different forms of death metal. Nice that you managed to show this progression here!
Oh, and I forgot to mention that Carcass maintained a relatively stable lineup while Napalm Death keep replacing the entire band between sides A and B of each record.
@@igorszamaszow171 napalm stopped changing members since harmony corruption, then jesse died but he wasn't replaced, and mitch is still in the band, tho he doesn't tour anymore because of his family. That seems like a pretty solid line up for more than 2 decades if you ask me. Carcass has replaced drummers and guitar players often, just think, mike was replaced by carlo, then carlo by ben, then ben by tom... while on drums, ken was replaced by daniel, then daniel was replaced by another daniel. And there is a guy called sanjiv that did some of the vocals on the early material. Both bands have had their share of past members.
Great video - and testament to these 2 GODS OF GRIND. These riffs are ICONIC! I bought these albums when they were first released and I was totally blown away! Must admit, I do prefer Carcass due to the grooves they got into the music without losing the brutality. Symphonies Of Sickness is a masterpiece (regardless of the subpar production compared to their later releases) with killer riff after killer riff - the album is relentlessly brutal, but at the same time an addictive foot tapper! BRILLIANT! :)
Dude, Bill Steer is a master of RIFFS of all time! Napalm Death without Barney's vocals unconditionally loses in this case. I've been Carcass fan about 25 years from my schooldays, so Carcass smashed NP! BUUUHHH
Carcass Necrotism was the soundtrack when I first read the Silmarillion. Those two are still unseparable and unparalled. I just wish I could have an amnesia to experience that for the first time again.
Very cool dude. My brother used to throw backyard gigs once a month and one time Jesse showed up. He's from the neighborhood but he was still in Napalm at the time. Hanged out with us, the bands that played and just chiled and drank a beer.
Making note that, except for Suffer The Children and Got Time To Kill, the riffs from both bands were composed and played by Bill Steer - Which are cool side-by-side demonstrations of the nuances between his writing styles for the two bands.
A joyful trip down memory lane ! I love that you have some of the stuff from Carcass' rough as guts debut when they were so underground that they couldn't even wing a decent production effort. I saw those guys open for Death (spiritual healing) just after they released reek of putrefaction, they kicked butt.
...ohh fk yeah, this one hits home. Napalm Death threw some killer shows back in the day and Carcass where one of my bigger influences when I first began playing, badass video man!!
There’s nothing like Old School DM and Grind - it could be heavy as fuck but still have these moments of slow crushing grooves that you could bob your head to. Excellent shredding, man!
My friend every video I watch of yours is astonishingly amazing. You could fill in for any one guitarist. I still wish you could have filled in for the great Jeff Hanneman. Carry on and shred them strings!
I really, really, enjoyed this! These are the bands we grew up listening to and I think the riffs and just the general energy are top quality! After all, they were the pioneers! Keep it up!
Napalm Death is a great band, but Carcass is by far the best metal band ever. Their riffs are much more macabre and gore if you know what I mean 😅 Ps: I mean any of their riffs previous to the Heartwork album.
cool! I'm from an era when master of puppets was just released. love this channel! Get a lot of new music to listen too. Saw Napalm Death/Morbid Angel live in Tivoli, The Netherlands in end of 80's? Morbid Angel was amazing! Never was a Napalm Death fan....But Carcass 'discovered' last 3 years...amazing stuff except the grindcore albums...
awesome! two of my favourite bands from back in the day. i was more of a fan of carcass (specially symphonies) even though Napalm brought out way more music over the years.
Great stuff. I'm also fan of the early stuff...well not too early, as Scum was a little silly. Harmony Corruption and Utopia Banished are my faves from Napalm Death. Symphonies of Sickness and Necroticism are my faves from Carcass. Looking forward to your next installment of grindage!

Can't decide whose riffs I like more. Fucking talented man you are 🤘🏻

Tony Iommi vs. later doom metal bands (Saint Vitus, Candlemass, Reverend Bizarre, The Obsessed) doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

This shit is on fire !! In Grind we trust !!
Absolutely
Super
Nice video, please name the songs :)
2 of my favourite bands! And songs, ultimate favourite is necrotism album, carcass are gods!
Did they sale that Jeff Bannerman guitar??
The guitar riff from Corporal Jigsore Quandary is one of my favorite of all time. 🤘🏻
Mine too
The mastery of the Napalm Death's riffs is undisputed.
Napalm Death Forever!
Man, the nostalgia is overwhelming... good times.
seriously...I'm 45 & actually don't listen to any metal that came after 1993 aside from At the Gates & Gojira.

Bill Steer is unbelievably talented. I am glad I saw them live.
I love the tone you picked for the Napalm Death tracks.
This is honestly one of my favorite channels. Shred it up my dude 👍.
