Swan Song is a great album but in my opinion Heartwork album had some of there best riffs on it. It was a very groundbreaking album. Adding Groove, Doom, Sludge, or Thrash elements to Death and Black metal is almost always a good idea. Your crushing tone doesn't hurt either!

The fact that 99% of those death and roll riffs can be played with two fingers (in an F5 powerchord) says a lot about the genre. Mainly, that you don’t have to be a crazy shredder to write groovy sounding riffs. Obviously those Fs sound way better in a barred chord, but even beginners can play an F5 and enjoy themselves with these simple riffs.
Death n Roll has to be the most overlooked and underrated metal genre imo. Its just so amazing, perfect blend of catchy, and heavy as shit without getting as poppy as melodeath (not hating on melodeath tho). Death n roll actually was my gateway into death metal and heavier stuff, Wolverine Blues and Massive Killing Capacity are both masterpieces (although Massive Killing Capacity is also a blend of melodeath; I prefer Wolverine Blues its more punky and groovy)
