Like an old tv smack it 🤪 I've used leak lock also . My customers navian leaks only had 57 ppm sending new exch stage 1
At my last company we did lots of pool heater servicing. Not on units quit this big though. We would vacuum out all of the leaves and debris. Most pool heaters we did had no line voltage they worked off of power piles which had enough milli volts to open the gas valve.

If and when you come to South Florida, you will grow to hat pool heaters! When I lived in Naples, I was paying off my divorce and went to work at a large pool company when I was home from my main job at sea. During the winter whenever the temps dropped below 60 deg, we would start getting all of the heater calls. Now most of these people had no interest in swimming but were worried about their neighbors not seeing the "Fog Bank" over their pools and didn't want them to think they had money problems! I swear if I had not heard this so many times or I would never had believed it!
You need to hire back GODZILLA back! Pay him a dollar more then what he was makin at all cost! 👍

Our pool is 25 years old, and in NY I'm glad its old school. Who needs electronics sitting outside turned off 8 months a year. Good old intermatic timer. The "actuators" are my arms.
As it is, my Hayward heater seems to need either a display board or control board every season no matter how well I water proof everything.
All of those electronics = money pit around here.

Did you ever have this happen to you: In a very upscale suburb of Syracuse NY, I was dispatched to repair a driveway lighting issue at a very upscale residence. Before she left to go to work, the homeowner asked if I would also look into a no power issue at one of the cabanas out at the pool area. The pool area was located in the rear of the residence behind the tennis courts. When I got to the pool there were four young ladies skinny-dipping in the pool. I excused myself and abruptly packed my tools and left. They obviously did not know that I was asked to repair anything at the pool area. I was called back to the residence the next day, but decided it better to give the call to another technician.

@@PipeDoctor No I don't have a combustion analyzer. Why? It is important as a tech, but I do my oil burner by eye. I'm not a HVAC tech. I work on my own equipment. I run a Vailliant with a Beckett burner when that dies I will have a Burnham or Crown Boiler from US Boilers 80-85 + no new junk and will use Taco 007 pumps .I mostly work on old school cars and small engine. Although did a lot in the satellite audio and video technical work back in the day.
I have a Jandy jxi heater. The flame sensor is the hot surface element. The unit fire up, produces heat for about 10 seconds, then powers down. It tries this twice then says “check ign steps”. Can the hot surface light the flame but still be bad? Can the gas valve produce enough gas to light but then not stay lit? Thanks

You typically set the heater itself to max temp when it’s being operated remotely. Actual pool temp was set to 88 I believe i saw on the remote handset he was using.

@@PipeDoctor Mike I'm thinking about a bosch heat pump and 100k BTU gas furnace and coil all bosch. As i read im confused about the tonage is it true that the equipment can modulate between 1.5 ton and 5 ton ??

If it is a true VRF(variable refrigerant flow ) system ,the answer is yes! I'm not well versed with Bosch,but Fujitsu,Daiken,Mitsubishi can run minimums,so say you have a 3 ton unit,with three 12,000 btu heads,you can run one and not the others,so it is essentially 12,000/1ton from a 3 ton unit

I'm getting an IF code on a Hayward 400000btu and it's only 2 months old. It wants to start but it wont stay lit and shuts right back down. Let's say I'm not as excited as you are to be cracking it open and dissecting the issue

Mike, I have the exact same heater - Jandy LRZ. My issue is gas valve isnt opening. BUT, the hot surface igniter gets hot and bright orange, there are NOT 24 volts coming to the gas valve to open it? I have already replaced the FENWALL and still it will not open the gas valve and doesnt seem to be sending it power???? HELP
Check safety circuit.

I just watched another one of your videos where you diagnosed a has valve and it showed clearly that the two wires coming to the gas valve so hot the 24 volts as it cycles. Mine definitely does not.
Since the wire was on the wrong terminal doesn’t that indicate the last tech did not properly test his work? With the flame sensor not connected properly it would not have run.
I have an odd feeling the whole east coast is going to be hurricane coast again this year.

I've never owned a pool . Never seen a pools control panel. I'm diyer and I know that spaghetti of discharge hoses screams hack work.
