Can we get the Amazon link for that sweet inspection camera?
@@PipeDoctor Thank you very much
Awesome. Thanks
I like the pool heater videos. That sucks when a relatively new product fails - and it's usually just after the warranty expires.
Could the heater exchanger be removed cleaned and pressure tested and the leak silver soldered or brazed
Here in Arizona many people use a heat pump on their pool since it can be run in heating mode during cool months (November to May) and then in cooling mode during the really hot months (July to September). I don't have one so by midsummer my pool water is about 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
@@PipeDoctor Yep, we actually root for hailstorms every August LOL!
JXI is a 3 year heater here in Florida.
Add a Vera flow valve to jxi the will prevent water from moving through when not in use. I would also have a check valve between heater and sanitizer.
Make sure you add a corrosion resistant check valve before that chlorinator.
The exhaust pipe! Bushes laying all over it 😂
I like how they Camouflage the equipment
Let’s have the equipment get covered by weeds
Wait so why did it go bad? What caused it ??
Calcium deposits such as that are due to poor water chemistry maintenance. Once the water can not hold calcium any longer it deposits in the warmest parts of the pool/ heater and it salt cell. PH and Alkalinity need to be checked every 4 to 7 days and calcium levels monthly.
#1
You have to be very meticulous about your pool water with a pool heater, unbalanced water can be corrosive !
Thanks again for the videos.
😐👍🏻🥃🥃🍺🍺🍺🇺🇲
If ph drops below 7.2 yes otherwise you are high on scale. We practice lsi and csi on all pools and keep a log. Many times they try and blame pool guys. But these jandy heaters are failing sometimes well before 6 months mark. Couldn't ruin a heater from chemistry this soon even if ya tried. Jandy own manual says that allow for ph to be 6.8 and alk upwards 180ppm. It's not chemistry issue. Product issue and most likely it's electronics wiring with pressure switch or pressure switch itself. This is Also stated in the troubleshooting guide in jandy manual. Igniter has it own fault code same with flow error
We have a pos like this, maybe the same model, and I just got this error. It’s only a few years old. Designed to break I’m sure, bc we never did anything bad to it, barely used it actually.
Sorry for your loss
Same here. Exact model
With same error
Most likely bad water chemistry, which is the cause of most heater failures. Most companies only test ph and cl levels and forget about the alkalinity levels which will eat the cooper in your pool heater.
I take my water to Leslie at least every 2 weeks to be tested and ALWAYS FOLLOW THEIR ADVICE. The only reason these heaters fail is that they are garbage to begin with and NEVER SHOULD BE USED TO HEAT YOUR POOL WATER!!!!
It all has to do with water chemistry and if you only pay your pool guy $100/month don't count on it to be ideal.
I see this often, most times from poor installation and wrong orientation of pool equipment. (Heater not being installed after filtration and before the electronic or cemical clorinater) and if installed correctly, no check valves in place to prevent backflow contamination. Also, with salt water pools, the cartridge type filters are junk compared to sand media filters.
Lmao cartridge filters better than sand. You also should use corrosion resistant check valves but even jandy stands by regular spa jandy style check valves between cell and heater Go figure.
D.E filters are probably the best filtration device for pools.
@@Koj2ez duh
Low calcium hardness in the water could cause calcium build up too.
The calcification was outside the copper coils not inside.
The installer failed to install a anti-corrosive check valve between the heater in the chlorinator and that is why the heat exchanger failed
Hi Randy with Fluidra. You are 100% correct. I’ve seen installers not adding one in most cases.
What’s the warranty on the heat exchanger?
@@PipeDoctor that will do it. I am anal about the chemistry of the pool and I keep the heater on bypass when not in use just to be safe
@@PipeDoctoranyone can say water chemistry issues. But unfortunately for those type we have gps time stamped digital logs of all chemistry.
"It's on the Fritz" lol
Why can't the hot surface ignitor just be replaced?? It's a replaceable part you can purchase.
It can
if the problem were a bad surface ignitor only, sure; but, the exchanger is bad and will only corrupt a new HSI....
just wondering what the lifespan on a pool heater usually?
5 to 10 years on residencial poosl and less than 5 year on commercial pools. JXI heaters are so bad that they last less than 4 years.
That Equipment doesn’t look Cheap so Why does it DIE in three (3) years ? Breach of Heat Exchanger ? Absolutely Unacceptable and Ridiculous. 🤪👎
Its a manufacturing defect. They should send the customer a new heater.
True, true, TRUE!!!
Looks like the Homeowner allows a “Natural Prairie” around Pool Equipment. State DOT’s do that in Highway Right-of-Ways to Avoid Grass Cut Mtce. 🤪👎
Maybe after replacing the heater, recommend they fire their landscaper 😂
Or recommend to hire a landscaper.
It would kill the gardener to spray some weed killer around the pool equipment
Probably also kill the gardener from spraying all that poison on the earth
Looks like rock salt
Salt water pool? 🤷♂️
classic jandy fail. Happened to me 2 times. Never again lol
@@PipeDoctor First unit (JXI-400) was installed March 2020 with pool instillation & Failed September 2020. Then replaced through warranty. Second one was from September 2020- June 2022. 2 years old & no longer under warranty. Both times were faulty heat exchangers. Water chemistry was always on point!
The reason the heater is wired in with the pump is bc you want the heater to turn off with the pump, otherwise you could catch the heater on fire or burn the heater and other items up.
Also, the calcium build up is bc it's a salt pool and they most likely don't pay attention to their pH and calcium levels like they should.
That’s gotta be made by Raypak. Pure junk.
5yr warranty on heat exchanger fyi
Wrong
A plumber who thinks he knows pool equipment.
Yes, factory trained b!tch
You talk too much but you didn’t show what is the solution 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ if do we need to replace that ignition or we need to clean that inside the heater???!🙄🙄🙄
