Man, those are some nice counter tops for a shop. Just bought an Echo cs590 $359 shipped from Ebay Good saws. Many saws leak oil no matter who makes it. The 590 has a 3/8 pitch chain, can’t wait to let it eat!
The 600p and 620p are very similar saws. The 620p is pretty much an updated, more powerful 600p. The 620p has a different piston/cylinder (porting), carb, and ignition module. The 620p does not have a rev limiter while the 590 and 600p's do. They weigh the same but the 620p is the better saw, just because of power. The rest of the saw is the same.
IIRC 620 does have the same type rev limiter as all digital CDI ignitioned ECHO products. It's just mapped for higher revs. As far as I remember there is substantial difference - 620 uses 2 rings for better heat dissipation, while 590/600 is colder 1 ring engine. And 620 has magnesium clutch cover that is not used on other saws of this family.
When I bought my first saw, I asked the dealer which he recommended. He told me to go out back and look at the junk pile. Anything not in there was good. The pile was yellow, red, and green. McCulloch, Homelite, and Poulon.
Did you ever post a follow-up video after owning/using the 620P for a while? I went through your videos and didn't see one dedicated to the saw. I'm considering one myself.
I gave away 3 stihls and bought Echo cs 490,husqvarna 445,next will be a Dolmar/Makita 7900. By the way I replaced my stihl ms250 with the Husky 445 and the husky revs higher and cuts faster. The chain you have will rip, just grind down the rakers some.
I have a 500 P and I have cut with everything in the last 40 years of cutting wood. There was never a McCulloch that would cut with a 500P. I have had my 500P a year and it cuts as fast as any 50cc saw I have cut with and better than most. The .325 chain is narrower and has less friction and should cut faster. I also have a 590 Echo that I just bought and it is a fast cutter also, it has 3/8 chain but it has a much larger motor. You won't get half the hours out of a McCulloch than you get from a modern saw.
I just got the 680 and it cut way better than the 620 to my surprise. Has a lot of low end power. My friend bought the 362 and it got him mad because the eco cut better than his saw. He wanted to take back 362 to ace. There was a 7cc difference in favor of the eco. 680 cuts really good. It sounds tough. I want to do a muffle mod. You can tell eco went on the conservative side with the revs on the saw. give it some rpms and she will rip
Its been two years now what do you think about the homeowner saw? What professional saw did you end up buying? Sadly my stihl mtronic gave out yet again
I bought an echo blower a year ago and I like the simple way there built and they just run for a good price. chain saws are different beast all together.
I'm torn between buying this saw and the Makita 6100PR - They are similarly priced. Any thoughts. BTW, my old 25 year old Made in USA Craftsman saw also leaks oil.
Makita is the better brand I have used makita 50cc and husky 562 both pro grade. Makita cuts above its weight for its size. As long as u keep the wood size reasonable. Have done forestry work with them both.
The Echo has a way better warranty than Makita the Makita is pretty much a Dolmar but there decent and parts are going to be more expensive The Echo carb is also much simpler and the metal switches last longer
My Stihl 261 broke down after only 3 years of cutting firewood. Stihl said it was my fault because I didnt use the Stihl oil and alcylat gasoline! 026 was a much more robust saw and I had one for allmost 20 years and used shell oil and 95 gas mixed 2%. Not happy with the Stihl 261 and Stihl support.
The 500p is a pro saw my friend its 50cc the 620p is also a pro saw its a 60cc its obviously going to be more robust no offense but you dont know much about chainsaws so your video is pretty invalid also 3/8 pitch isn't just for big saws alot of saws run 3/8 pitch down to 30 cc even lower
Maybe these new Echos are built pretty good you should do a slight muffler mod and that was will really come alive just don't over do the muffler mod then fatten up or richen the high carb setting .
Check out Off Grid Homesteader Cecil E Skinner on UA-cam, he uses GreenWorks battery powered chainsaw, check email and see what you think. After you check these out, please let me know what you think
Echo cs620 is the best professional 60cc made!
the spikes are called bucking spikes. If you ever cut bigger wood you will use them.

Red oak.

Lokanas That may be true about the coil. The 600/620 also has a rim sprocket and metal handle. The 600 has the mag clutch cover as well.
Thanks for the comments on the 620 difference between the 590 I have been using a 590 for a longtime now could the 620 parts be put on the 590 thanks
When I bought my first saw, I asked the dealer which he recommended. He told me to go out back and look at the junk pile. Anything not in there was good. The pile was yellow, red, and green. McCulloch, Homelite, and Poulon.
Its sad the old macs and poulons was really good.
should have done the muffler mod on the CS-501P, changes the saw a lot!!!
Bucking Billy Ray Smith loves those old Macs. He’s got a building full of them and uses them still.
Buckin is the man. I watched a video he was using a ported echo cs-620pw with 28" bar.
@@stuntcardriver do you still have the McCulloch? Would you want to sell it?
@@johnlincicum6390 I sold it.
Did you ever post a follow-up video after owning/using the 620P for a while? I went through your videos and didn't see one dedicated to the saw. I'm considering one myself.
Not yet. I like the saw. Plenty of power, 3/8 pitch chain and not too expensive.
I gave away 3 stihls and bought Echo cs 490,husqvarna 445,next will be a Dolmar/Makita 7900. By the way I replaced my stihl ms250 with the Husky 445 and the husky revs higher and cuts faster. The chain you have will rip, just grind down the rakers some.
ozarkprepper1 just don’t take em down to far or it will start biting too hard and binding up.
I'd buy that McCulloch in a heartbeat
The 500p is in fact a pro saw
Do muffler work and remove the limiting sleeves on the carb and you’ll be amazed

that mac on the video sounds like a diesel idling

Thanks for the review of the saw. Very informative. Are you a finish carpenter? I'm so jealous of your shop organization and cleanliness. Very nice!
No I am not a finish carpenter, I try to keep stuff organized that isn't always the case though.
Its been two years now what do you think about the homeowner saw? What professional saw did you end up buying? Sadly my stihl mtronic gave out yet again
I sold my Echo 500p and use my Echo 620p for everything.
you never use that mac again. the 620 is a phenomenal saw
Awesome vid! What is that an old Mac 10-10?
Yes I believe mac pro 10-10s
I bought an echo blower a year ago and I like the simple way there built and they just run for a good price. chain saws are different beast all together.
Dan Kruger Echo invented the leaf blower.
You can change the sprocket 8 pin
Rim then you can run different chain pitches I have 2 pro mac 10 10 saws
Thats a beautiful saw. 💝💝
I'm torn between buying this saw and the Makita 6100PR - They are similarly priced. Any thoughts. BTW, my old 25 year old Made in USA Craftsman saw also leaks oil.
I can't speak for the Makita, but I really like the power of the Echo. See if the dealer will let you test them first.
Makita is the better brand I have used makita 50cc and husky 562 both pro grade. Makita cuts above its weight for its size. As long as u keep the wood size reasonable. Have done forestry work with them both.

I have a dolmar 6100 and it is an excellent saw
Running a 20" bar on a 50cc engine and it won't cut fast, I never run anything longer than a 16" on a 50cc saw
Pretty good price lol. That's a hell of a price
I would love to have that old Mac. It runs good! I know it's heavy tho. New Subscriber.
Open your lo on the 620 more. It will fix that hesitation.
Will do.
I've heard you should use a semi chisel chain for cutting dirty wood.
Love2boat92 stays sharp longer in dirty wood
My Stihl 261 broke down after only 3 years of cutting firewood. you again, I am going to respond to all your comments, and then go buy a stihl, just to piss you off
every ones knows if your saw ran for 3 years with out a problem than you fucked it up yourself. Go buy another stihl and shut up
The 500p is a pro saw my friend its 50cc the 620p is also a pro saw its a 60cc its obviously going to be more robust no offense but you dont know much about chainsaws so your video is pretty invalid also 3/8 pitch isn't just for big saws alot of saws run 3/8 pitch down to 30 cc even lower

Berapa harga itu senso echo cs 620p dan bagamana cara pesannya
Hunkavarna. I totally agree.
Nice, but that old Mac might outlive them Echo's.
True
Maybe these new Echos are built pretty good you should do a slight muffler mod and that was will really come alive just don't over do the muffler mod then fatten up or richen the high carb setting .
That Mac can run A LOT bigger bar. And I'd be happy to take that old, heavy, annoying, Mac off your hands 😁
They are supposed to leak oil...
It's not leaking. It's just marking it's territory.
Check out Off Grid Homesteader Cecil E Skinner on UA-cam, he uses GreenWorks battery powered chainsaw, check email and see what you think. After you check these out, please let me know what you think
