I'd love to just pretend I'm a tourist in Blackpool and enjoy the nightlife ..but when living here , the main things I get to do is my shopping and back home .. 😂
Hi Kevin, just watched your Blackpool vlog I have not been to Blackpool for years. Used to go in the 80s early 90s for 18 to 30s reunions at Norbrek castle. Sometimes venture into town. So interesting to see they have a soul suite which is also my favourite bar in Tenerife. Ma Kelly's looks interesting. This vlog might encourage me and some friends to give it a try sometime. Will be in Tenerife in September. Thanks for all your great work definitely the chanel to look at where you are off two. Well done again Kevin I see your channel is growing. Iv never seen black pooleso quiet it's a shame. The time I've been there and had trouble finding a hotel. Those were the days I miss. I wish that they would come back
Mr.McNally, a fine video as always, here's a true story about myself, 1966 when I was 12 years old and my parents bought me my first guitar for Xmas! And have been noodling about eversince, 1971 at 17 passed my driving test on Glasgow Fair Friday and drove down to Blackpool with my pals in tow, abandoned the car for the pub and promptly got a parking ticket, now the pub we headed to was MAMMA AND PAPPA JENKS and it looks like that should pub in the video, maybe some of your viewers could confirm if I'm right. Now standing at the bar for a beer during the band's break and I got talking to the lads about their guitars and stage equipment, the name of the band SMOKIE, BTW this was long before they lived next door to Alice.
So pleased you enjoyed your stay in Blackpool, yes it can a little unruly at times but most of the holidaymakers come to let their hair down- obviously Not your hair lol, it’s tacky at times but millions come every year so it must be doing something right.. thanks for the videos,
Whilst you were filming this I was having a walk down the prom the other side of the Imperial Hotel, up past Gynn Square and one of the other Ma Kellys! Shame I missed you Kev, I would have bought you a pint. Welcome to Lancashire too, see it doesn't always rain around here.
@@DameTremonti It was once a great place, think my first visit was 1974 when I was 5 Then in the late 80's I ended up living and working in the Town for about 5 - 6 months, I still remember taking my daughter for her first ever holiday when she was 3 and we'd go most years sometimes twice per year, 5 days in the summer then back for September weekend, September weekend being a pretty traditional Scottish Holiday. I've not been back since September 2018 My daughter still goes now and then. Real shame seeing much much it's fell into decline.
Been to the Soul Suite...great bar with northern soul, live acts and a friendly crowd. We sat in a little booth type seating, then other couples sat there... got a distinct swingers corner feel, so the missus wanted to move. Blackpool in the 70s was packed out and you struggled to find a hotel at times. Rock making on the prom etc.
Blackpool in the 1980s and into the mid to late 90s was thee place to go to for a night out or holiday. The rot set in when the Tories allowed the use of B&Bs as permanent accommodation and individuals flocked to this and other seaside resorts, rent paid for by the DSS and B&Bs had a semi permanent income stream as well as full lodgings. Those that moved into B&B accommodation had little disposable income so less money was spent around the town, and thus the 'rot' set in. Last decade Blackpool was so run down and was renowned for stag and hen nights, not a family resort. Its still not perfect but cash is being injected into Blackpool. I was there last year for a week with my kids. Had a fantastic time, weather was perfect, and it was cheap. It would be lovely to see it being the jewel of the North West again.
@@gurney2931 The policy was, I think (someone prove me wrong) introduced in the early 90s to relieve the burden on social housing. The flow into seaside resorts started slowly. Claim rent allowance, claim free council tax = less money going into local government. Year by year, less and less money. Blackpool is not the worst. There are other seaside resorts, some I can think of along the south and east coasts that were once superb resorts, now they're run down cesspits.
@@AnonAnonAnon I agree with the majority of what you say. I wouldn't call it a Tory problem - all parties contributed - and I wouldn't be as critical of Blackpool as you. To be fair, that's probably because I have lived there for almost all my life. Apologies if I was short with you in my original reply, we are probably in agreement or close to it.
think most towns 'clubbing scene' peaked late 90s and slowly spiralled off. that said, blackpool was still busy during 00s and syndicate attracted thousands every weekend. after 90s tho music got shitter, people drunk less and smoked more weed and social media and dating apps meant you could get a shag not even leaving your living room.

I'd agree with what you say Anon but I'm not so sure the problems are down to the Tories as you suggest. Labour were in power from '97 to 2010.
