That was a very interesting and informative video Stephen. My friend from Yorkshire is struggling with knee problems just now, she would really love to see the illuminations, I will mention the Ruskin to her. It's good to know they cater for guests with mobility issues. I will warn her about the parking restrictions too. Thank you, that was very helpful xxx
Thanks Moonage. I remember you telling me about your hairdresser friend with the bad knee. She will be fine at the Ruskin xx
If you ask on booking directly with the ruskin hotel they can arrange for a rental electric wheelchair to be available for length of your stay for a small fee
Love the Ruskin, stayed there many times. Food is amazing.
Used to always stay at the Albert hotel when I was a kid from the 70's into the early 80's. Been living in the US for a number of years now so your videos help me relive old memories so thank you!
Happy to bring back the memories.
You walked past my house when mentioning the tragic murder on Regent Road. I thought for a moment it happened in my house 😵 I'd never get in the bath again.
Lucky for me it was a few doors up 🥺
Wowsers! That was close 👻
oooo i lived 0.4 miles from there as a kid in Havelock street as a child 7 min's walk away yikes
We once stayed at the Allendale. Carpark at the rear and we had to leave the keys in case someone had to get out. That's common in Blackpool. Bonus was, we could see the car from the tower! Thanks for all of your work Stephen
Thanks Stephen, that was a lovely way, to spend an afternoon sitting here in the warm, viewing the streets of Blackpool, on a wet day. Thanks again for making the effort. 😘
Thanks for another interesting video Stephen. We love to hear about the history of the areas and streets you visit, you are very knowledeable about history too it makes it more fascinating to watch 😍🤗
Thank you. More to come!
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool Great I am looking forward to it 😀
Once again i enjoyed that Stephen thanks
Hi Steve from a very wet and windy Kent in the south east. Brilliant video as usual. Blackpool has obviously seen better days but with all the new building going on it's going to look great again. 👍
Hi Stephen another fantastic video well done and keep up the great work
hey Stephen Vincent here that is very good views of Blackpool Tower absolutely love it and the old streets plus the car alarm is very annoying love Blackpool views.
most of my family worked in the suncliff hotel during the late sixties and 70s i was only young but pretty fit so when the holiday makers during scotch week came to the hotel id make plenty of tips carrying their heavey cases tp the rooms what a wonder full time as a child it was then many a happy memory in blackpool
Another lovely informative video. Keep em coming Stephen. Great work
Will do Neil.
Used to work at the Ruskin hotel. The staff were weirder than the guests!
Thank you Stephen for taking us down Albert Road that was really good l really enjoyed the video, the tower looks amazing.
Love your walks
waaaaw 8 am & the ticket people have been out already unless that's from last night they never go along the front near the comedy carpet like that Steven great vlog you are an early bird at least you well wrapped up plenty of layer's of clothe's on stay safe buddy keep them flowing
Thank you Stephen 😊
Again I thoroughly enjoyed your company and this walk you bring warmth to my world!
Brilliant video stephen. Awesome
Good Morning Stephen..I used to go to Albert road church with my mum back in the day...again another interesting video...:)
Thanx Stephen
I love how informative your videos are ☺️
Thanks Rachel.
Great video. I watched it twice. You know Stephen, there are some really nice looking well kept hotels in that area. Another point, just look at the size of some of those
properties . Five stories high and well built . Yes, a good video thanks.
Hi Stephen, Good video and nice to meet you on Friday evening as you were taking some photos near the Tower. Call out to Tony from Wyke, Bradford. Bryan & Elaine.
Great to meet you.
Thanks for the videos, good to see where I spent a lot of summers as a kid again. I know in Edinburgh if you want to park all day then the ticket isn’t much more expensive than the parking meter if paid instantly, saves a lot of up and down feeding a meter and having to move spots every 2 hours if you work there everyday
Funny story about the Albany hotel on Albert road. There used to be another Albany Hotel on Clifton Drive opposite the big blue, and it was notorious for being dirty and unfit for purpose. But people got it mixed up on trip advisor with the Albert road Albany and apparently left bad reviews on the albert road one. I believe Blackpool council closed the Clifton drive one down for being so bad
Memories for me one of my first jobs at a Solicitors as an office junior was in one of the houses top of Albert road walked up and down that street and around town dropping off mail to other offices long before emails was ever thought about.
The good old days of snail mail! 🐌🗒
Great info Stephen.Great video.
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as always so many hotels on Albert Road a great location I've stayed on Hull Road and Hornby Road both great for the town etc weather here in Nottingham not the best either but to be expected have a great evening xx
Thanks Wendy x
Hi I watch all your walks round Blackpool, I lived on coronation RD had some flats there and a cafe at back of hounds hills centre, cafe gone now , it was the good old days , 30 years ago , anyhow keep filming Blackpool I love it . Thx neil
Great vlog as usual Stephen, see you were at the back of Houndshill, did some lightning work there just before it opened in 1980
Ty Stephen for another great video very interesting ty I stayed at the Ruskin Hotel a few years ago very nice 😀
I took photos for a wedding reception there Julie. It is a very nice hotel x
Cheers Steve, that was really informative 'great commentary '👍
Cheers for video ☺️
Thank you for the video. I love Blackpool as it holds lots of memories for me and my sister as our grandparents used to take us there on holiday. I love visiting g with my own family now.
As a kid I remember my grandma used to love Pricebusters and Lewis’s. Both are gone now I think.
As a kid we stayed at the Alexandra Hotel as it was called then late 60's and early 70's and the newspaper shop at the end of the road was there back then too
The fire station was where the vegetation is at 4.20. There are still some buildings at the back and part of the front wall remains next to the alleyway. Blackpool corp had a Gamewell fire alarm system with 22 dedicated call boxes around the town. Bit niche I know 😃
Thanks for the info.
I enjoyed that, for me that was a walk down memory lane, although it's changed alot since the 60's when we stayed at Mrs Harrops when I was a kid great times. Thanks for that Star of Blackpool be safe be careful and I will see you in the next one♥️
Thanks for watching Susan.
Enjoyed the video Stephen.
Interesting video Stephen ☺️
Many thanks for sharing 🍻👍
Good evening how are you Steven love your vidio its raining there in Blackpool and its raining here in Manchester we still have fireworks here take care stay safe xx
Good Video Stephen i had a bedsit at the very top room at 16 regent rd where the murders happened
Interesting video Stephen 🙂 Adventureme ( he shared the Tramtown ghostwalk) has done a video on Central station this weekend. Has some great fades between now and when the station was in its prime.
Yes he's very good at those type of videos.
Pleased you have done a video of Albert Road. It was around twenty years ago I booked a hotel, damned if I can remember which one, for my girlfriend and myself a weekend away. I remember it being dirt cheap, (about £35 per night for a room). Vague memories now but I know we went straight off to ride the Big One at the Pleasure Beach. Anyway, AdventureMe Darren is now covering Central Station with a current series of videos. Love that rainbow shot over the tower that you took❤️👍😉
Thanks David. I wonder when I will ride the Big One again?
Really interesting video, imagine booking into that hotel that has swingers and not be swingers, presumably they warn you 🤭🙈
Must be interesting living next door lol!
Vet good. I Googled the plane crash and it is on UA-cam. Happened in 1935.
I love your videos, subscribed fairly recently.
Hi Stephen great video as for tattoo's I was 11 years old back in the 70's when I got my first one My dad did not find out till I was 14 years old before he found out I had 14 tattoo's & now got 9 of the removed Dam the pain was bad now I want a Big one on my back of Stella My dog who you met last year as the Star Flayer

Hiya Stephen. I can highly recommend The Ruskin. Absolutely great hotel. Love this video. Thanks so much. Wet & windy here in Ireland 🇮🇪.
Steve love your videos mate Blackpool born and bread myself. Me and my wife play a game when you release a video it's called how many times does he say Here In Blackpool mate we love it we have a guess and loser buys tea 31 times was the record so far just a bit of fun but mate you do say it a lot 🤣🤣👍
OMG! 31 times!!!! 😱
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool Blackpool council should pay you a commission because your videos probably bring more people into Blackpool than anything they put out mate seriously they should you do a hell of a lot to promote Blackpool and you should maybe enquiry to see if they can sponsor you nothing to lose mate and everything to gain 👍👍👍👍🤣
The New Oxford was the first hotel I stayed at in 1997 I think it was about £30 a night. I've stayed many times. Also the fern villa and others. I've also stayed at the Ruskin. The food is pretty decent in the basement restaurant. I remember in the pool room the cat and mouse fruit machine where you had to collect all the cheeses for the jackpot. Also there was a lady who had a small stand selling papers and drinks next to the New Oxford. She was there years. She made a few quid out the lads every year as we were hanging and dehydrated so we were all buying pints of orange juice.
I did notice the newspaper stand next to the New Oxford. I didn't even know there was one still there.
Thanks for the video Stephen my advice when parking please read the sign’s and times or just goggle where too park and pay not nice going back too your car and get a parking ticket.
Very interesting Livestream I'm learning a lot about different sides of Blackpool I've never ventured down past the Ruskin hotel I keep to the centre of Blackpool when I'm shopping I do love Blackpool at Xmas when all the shops have Xmas decs and they just make it lovely I love coming through Layton at Xmas I love the Xmas tree with the prezzies underneath I'm definitely going to try the new pudding shop in hounds hill I've got a booklet from the illuminations so I will get into Blackpool before the Xmas rush can't wait for your next new videos I look forward to them it's my favourite channel
Thanks Jen.
Hi Stephen, nice to see your video about Albert Road, it was very interesting like all your videos are, I stayed at the Georgian hollies Hotel in Albert Road just over a month ago, very nice it was too, I never saw you about but hopefully next time I in Blackpool. Keep up the good work as I know you will, look after yourself Stephen.
Glad you enjoyed it Glenn.
@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool cheers Stephen
Was wondering if you could do a smaller version of the calendar? The thing is they cost a fortune to post overseas to Australia or New Zealand. The post office charge for postage of a4 size calendars as if they were 'parcels' which frankly I think is greed and disgusting.
I have a ready sent a few out to those far off places. It wouldn't be economical for me to print smaller ones, however, just to post abroad.
The old police station and fire station brings back memories for me.
In 1956 I was 4 year sold and my parents took me to Blackpool and my parents fell a sleep on the beach I wounder of and got lost I remember being next to a woman who I think handed me in to the police station my parents came to pick me up and had to pay get me back into days money it would be about 10p and now I know where the police station was it must have been the one you mentioned.
Blackpool sounds distinctly seedy.
I went to Blackpool once in Summer 2018 and we stayed at a hotel called Glendower hotel just along the Lytham Promenade for 3 nights only been to Pleasure Beach and up the Blackpool Tower as well by the way Stephen
I've not been up Blackpool Tower for 40 years!
My family and I stayed at The Arabella on Albert Road this past September. It was a birthday trip for me which became quite a bitter sweet stay as our lovely queen died on my birthday. The Arabella is a B & B, lovely place and lovely staff. Would definitely recommend.
At the Spiritulist Church, the guy at the front sits laughing, I asked why and was told he is a happy medium.
Very nice vlog
The American table dancing place above the tattoo shop I always remember it being a lap dancing place called Too Hot To Handle.
That's right. I forgot about that place.
The Edith centre building was Marks and Spencer until the Hounds Hill shopping area was developed (encompassing the McDonalds, the empty Poundstretcher and the current Job Centre).
Maybe Edith got her smalls there!
Just watched your video good information stephen never been on Albert Rd
Stayed at the trafalgar hotel with our 2 dogs nice friendly hotel too
Hi Stephen love your videos keep up the great informative work my friend. 😊
Glad you like them!
Stephen the classic building looks like A PICTURE HOUSE/THEATRE back in the day.....No Tattoos? gotta get one of the TOWER. ha ha
Ruskin hotel , I go every August for few days , from Northern Ireland
Stayed in the Albert Hotel last year...come back to the room one night and the T.V. and the bathroom light were on...spooky
Wow.
Hi Stephen, u never mentioned that the winter gardens backs onto the back of Albert road up the top of coronation Street. Albert road great road to stay on especially for pigeon weekend in January, the Ruskin is a lovely hotel, but the belvedere further up is ran by a lovely Yorkshire couple Terry and Chris, they can't do enough for you and is great value for money, have stayed there the last 25+ years, Ruskin has a great bar and atmosphere and always full, all in all a very central road only a short walk to all good spots to be
Which one was the swingers hotel? Just asking for a friend.😎
Tell your 'friend' to click on the link in the description 😉
Hiya Stephen, stayed in The Ruskin many a time, lovely hotel!
That tattoo parlour at the top of Albert Road, I'm sure it used to be a small amusement arcade.
Regarding the plane crash, I believe that's where the flying handbag got its name.
Could be true!
I agree with your opinion on tattoos Stephen, just never seen the appeal of them, still, each to their own.
Thanks for another interesting video.
I liked that m8 great content 👌
The Edith Centre once housed the Blackpool branch of the Co-op bank.
Stayed at the Ruskin a few years ago. Room had window that was same frosted glass as you get in a bathroom. Not pleasant. Food was good but wouldn't stay again. The northern soul bar at the top of the promenade is a favourite 😎
2003 next to Ruskin used to be a lap dancing bar.
Haven't been to Blackpool for years. Many a good weekend in the 90s. The Tower Lounge on a Saturday afternoon could get a bit lively...😂
hello there I enjoy your video's keep up the great work be very proud to be from BLACKPOOL ❤BLACKPOOL
Makes me feel old not only to remember the car park, but to remember it as the big Co-Op.
Can you tell us more about the central station please. Good video
Central Police Station is the one due for demolition.
A nice area to stay, fond memories staying
at the La Tour Hotel back in the day....
The Calypso is a hotel also an Indian restaurant, the food is fantastic. Great video you went straight passed the hotel i run
Don't tell me I didn't mention yours!! 😱
Right at side of Waldorf... The quirky black one with stencilled flowers, you want to see the inside its realy realy different lol but i love it, all hand painted its a 1 off
Hi go every year to the babto pool tournament so find these videos great
Stayed at the south view hotel, really nice place, also stayed at the fern villa. at side of church, a cess pit.
WW2 in August 1941 A RAF plane crashed into North railway station Talbot Road there is a plaque to the event.
Seed street was bombed by a returning aircraft from Manchester killing 8 people.
0:44 l laughed inappropriately when you said “one of the bride in the bath murders” It’s the way you said it! And I’m thinking how many brides get murdered in baths?
Hi Channel 4 did a programme years back on a brothel at the topend of Albert Road do you know anything about it? It is some years back now
I've just done a post about that.
Hi Stephen thanks for sharing the video with us again, we always stay at The Ruskin Hotel Albert Road, they do some great deals we are coming this month, will keep an eye out for you.👍
Might get lucky Brian!

Hallo to you sir.. There are so many hotels in Blackpool. I presume that they all had to close during the Covid lockdown...do you know what happened to them ?
I think my mum's next door neighbour is manager at the job centre. 😂
Ive been to quite a few functions in the Ruskin
Infusion on General Street is a Swingers Club apparently
Yeah I was going to do a video round there the other week. I noticed it was closed.
