I actually like what they did with the assault rifle in the show, they subtly retconned it to be a heavier weapon intended for use with power armor, which explains how bulky it is.
It’s not a retcon, when they made fallout 4 they were planning to make an LMG weapon type that was bigger than rifles and smaller than mini guns but they never put it in the final game, but that assault rifle was supposed to be in that category
there are more references of hiding in a fridge in fallout. new vegas has a fridge with a corpse inside if you choose to play with the wild encounters. the main reference being indiana jones
I dont actually think Thaddeus became a ghoul. I think hes becoming a super mutant. FEV is known to heal all wounds and ailments before turning the victim into a super mutant. If ghouls could regenerate that quickly, even just in the show, Cooper Howard would have grown his finger back after Lucy bit it off. Ghouls may not die easy, but they cant just reform a destroyed foot. FEV can do that though.
Also the wierd doctor gave him a "serum" he called it. Which you can get multiple serums in fallout 76. They all have negative and positive mutatuons. But you can get a perk card that negates the negative effects of the mutations.
In regards to the dog, Cooper does call it "Dogmeat" in episode 7 at the 41:10 mark when he is remembering his "before" life and his dog he had then and was upset dogs weren't allowed in the vaults.
The Enclave Doctor absconding with the dog is a reference to Doc Henry in New Vegas, who was a neuroscientist specializing in dogs, who left the Enclave before the destruction of the oil rig for morality reasons, and took his research with him. He sets up in Jacobstown and is working on finding a way to reverse the stealth boy induced psychosis of the Nightkin super mutants, and will put a new dog brain in Rex so he can be your companion.

@@oOWeedJesusOo yeah! Rex is a cyber dog you can get from The King in Freeside. You have a choice of three different brains you can get for him. I’m not entirely sure, because it’s been a while for me, but I think they might give him different behavior as a companion? Like, the options are a junkyard dog, a dog from the fiends, or a Legion hound.
I also get huge ED-E vibes from this story as well! The scientist more or less trusts their creation in the wasteland; the main thing they spent their lives on, was simply making sure their creation escapes captivity!
@oOWeedJesusOo Rex, the cyber dog from freeside and ED-E, the robot you find in Primm, don't take up 'companion slots' the same way as humanoid followers do! There’s a part where coop says that you get into to random bullshit in the wasteland after they leave the swamp with the gulper and I loved that cuz it perfectly shows the course of playing a fallout game start a main quest do a side quest explore a building find an item… what was I doing again?
I think it's fair to say, this is by far the biggest love letter to gaming fans and especially Fallout fans. Proof that video game adaption is in fact possible when done right.
There's a huge non game Easter egg I haven't seen anyone talk about yet. Lucy's name is Lucy McClane, which is John McClanes daughters name in the Diehard movie franchise.
Also, in episode 4 there's a bunch of pumpkin halloween buckets on the shelves. These can be found everywhere in Fallout 4 since the bombs fell just before halloween.
There’s a massive opportunity to run a spinoff similar to Black Mirror for each vault. Timing doesn’t really matter much bc their timelines are mostly isolated
This is the 3rd video where they credit indiana jones for the fridge thing, not even considering the kid who survived 210 years in a fridge in fallout 4 as the more likely reference.
That quest was inspired by the refrigerator scene in kingdom of the crystal skull as well as the wild wasteland easter egg in new vegas it’s a reference to the quest and Indiana jones
Also the code at the end to activate cold fusion was 101097 which if i remember correctly was the release date of the first fallout game, october 10th 1997
The theme song that plays when Lucy finds the flag is not exclusively fallout 4 to my memory its every fallouts menu theme at least since 3, personally when i heard it it took my straight to the first time I played fallout 3.

it is widely believed that John Wayne (feo, fuerte y formal) died of cancer after nuclear exposure in Utah where bomb detonation area was close to the set of "The Conqueror" in the 50's. Still Wayne lived till 1979.
Its ironic how Cooper Howard talks about escaping to Bakersfield ca in episode one. Thats where vault 12 is, and the experiment there was to slowly expose its occupants to radiation, they all turned to gouls.
@@13aenigma my boy Ian goddamn.. I hope there's a reference to him in some way in the next season, seeing that they were close to Shady Sands. There better be some radscorpions too
I noticed couple nods to other Jonathan Nolan shows: Michael Emerson, who plays Wilzig, also plays a main character in Person of Interest who has a pronounced limp as a defining characteristic. And The Ghoul leading Lucy with a lasso leash is iconic behavior from the Man in Black (Ed Harris) in Westworld.
When Lucy leaves the vault and travels through the old cars, she tries to talk to some wastelanders that don't even look at her. This makes me think of players going up to random wasteland npc's to see if you can talk to them.
Well, it's not something obscure you missed, but since you mentioned *the Glue,* I would also point out that, at one point, the camera spent some seconds on *a fan.* Another object that made me scream to the screen *"LOOT IT !"*
Great video! You caught so many things I missed and it makes me love the show more. Correction: the dog's name is CX404 (not 202) and later The Ghoul does call him "Dogmeat". One of my favorite references were the paintings you see in the Vault. Almost every painting hanging on the walls is one you can build as a Settlement object in "Fallout 4"! As someone heavily into settlement building this was a delight. :)
I would go somewhere else if you want to learn anything. As someone with hundreds of hours into the Fallout games since Fallout 1 and 2 I can tell you he gives so much false information, almost every entry has something wrong with it. He comes across like he only played Fallout 4 once, years ago and just goes by that. Anything before that game he just doesn’t seem to know about. Just looking out for ya if you actually want to learn something that isn’t an assumption or blatantly false information, go to other lore channels like CamelWorks.
Strange tactic to take it upon yourself to make an easter egg video to explain things from the Fallout universe when it seems like you only played Fallout 4 once for like a couple of hours max. There are so many things wrong or attributed to Fallout 4 only when they are a staple of the series of games. Like meeting dogmeat in 4 only when he has been in all the mainline games in some way (rex took his place in NV). Mr. House also isn’t the antagonist in Fallout New Vegas, and so much more. But ya know, gotta get a quick vid with bad research out quick to get those views.
Somebody mentioned that Maximus getting his foot stuck in the planks in Filly in Episode 2 may be a nod to how the PA tended to clip on certain surfaces...
I like the fact that the creators used Buicks, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, Packards, Henry Js Nashes, GMC and other not so recognized vehicles from the mid to late 50s in the backgrounds plus using early WW2 military vehicles.
@@kennknee.mp4Well technically you can fast travel from the prydwen and the airport and vice-versa but that's not very popular so I doubt he was referencing it

Yao Guai = Yo Gi as in Yogi the bear lol, but seriously it was named by Chinese soldiers during the battle of Anchorage and translates to "strange monster"
Yao Guai = 妖怪, which in Chinese is used to describe unknown monsters. 妖 (Yao) = evil, monsterous, 怪 (Guai) = strange, weird. So Yao Guai = strange monster but generally, just monster.
There's a very similar word couplet in some native American languages too. Important Shawnee Mythological Figures: Yakwawi: A giant hairless bear monster, associated by some people with ancient mammoths." www.native-languages.org/yakwawiak.htm
The dope thing about the ghoul too is like he been doing this for now 200 years (hypothetically) so I feel of course his accuracy would be that phenomenal
Actually I think it's the opposite of that. Bethesda gave the show runners a list of things to avoiding using, so that the show would not get in the way of future Fallout games. Since the show is set on the west coast, this tells me that Fallout 5 is likely to be set on the east coast.
why the fuck would we want to go back to the west coast we've had multiple times being there and near there , it'll most likely me somewhere in the middle or east coast again.
@@MidnightSlasher The Capitol wasteland of FO3 and the Commonwealth of FO4 are on the East coast, so why go there again? FONV Was in Nevada, so nowhere near the West coast. FO5 might be in a whole different country.
Need to see a couple more seasons to know for sure. But now there’s a new infinite power source on the West Coast in the hands of the Brotherhood could be a story arc there.
I think it’s foreshadowing that Norman is playing Atomic command in that scene. It’s like Normans “perks” are more intelligence and almost charisma based - E.g he can hack terminals, he investigates and figures out what’s going in Vault 31, I feel like he’s a bit of a leader as well, he rallies Chet to help him investigate Vault 32. I can see Norman becoming overseer and leading vaults 32 and 33 to destroy vault 31 and the whole vault experiment.
24:36 Also, that car that the man gets out of is very similar to the Chryslus Zip! I was really bummed out that they didn't make the cars look more like corvegas or something, and so I liked this little scene.
Agree. I felt the same. It was probably due to budgetary limitations. There was a chrysalis atomic v8 on the vaulted scene though. Maybe we'll see more Fallout automobiles next season given the tremendous success of this first.
I got the impression that the huge Brotherhood bags were designed to be carried by someone wearing power armor. Considering the way squires are treated, it makes sense they would get stuck carrying them.
One Easter Egg I haven't seen mentioned so far is the movie poster and reference at the wrap party, A Man and His Dog, which is a reference to the movie A Boy and His Dog which is the inspiration for the Fallout series.
The guy in the video didn't really seem to know a lot pre-Fallout 4 so I'm guessing he's a toddler and I'm not surprised that his eyes would glaze over on that reference. But I caught it too and thought that was a nice nod.

There were a lot of Easter eggs in each episode's credits too. Most leading to hints towards the next episode. The final episode's credits had The Tops hotel & casino sign, the NCR vertibird, a deathclaw skull, the lucky 38 sign, the gate between freeside and the strip (blown open), Mr houses securitrons destroyed, and the gates into new Vegas being blown open too. Maybe Caesar won in canon or the NCR?
I think Bethesda confirmed the NRC won the battle for Hoover dam, with Mr. House still being in control of New Vegas and having an uncomfortable but stable alliance with the NCR. Either way, both the legion and the NCR are really powerful outside of New Vegas, the Brotherhood definitely does not want a war with either of them, it will be interesting to see how season two is going to tackle that situation.
I understand the confusion because of the article posted prior to the shows release but if you look closely in the second shot of scene where the ship flies in, you can see the name Prydwen on the side.
this makes since considering how the construction of the Prydwen was a one of a kind air ship that required miraculous circumstances to build in the first place, and will likely never be built again
There's a scene where Lucy exclaims, "Who carries a desk fan?" which I'm pretty sure is a nod to Fallout 76, where one of the best junk items is desk fans dues to its components.
Uhh it is The PRYDWYN which you pronounced incorrectly and it's not something you use to fly around the map in FO4, it's the main quest line location for the BoS. Have you even played Fallout?
I would say yes as well. I have played Fallout and seen the entire series. I would say there's no "homework" you have to do before watching the show. Just like the game, the show with their styling does a good job of putting you into their world. By the end, it's clear who the main players/factions are, and they tell their own story and you understand their motivations by the end of the show.
As someone who has played every single game, probably it’s still a good show no matter what, but there are so many things that will fly over your head without experiencing the games in my opinion especially the final episode was just a treat for someone who is experienced with the franchise
I think the "Don't lose your head" easter egg could also be a nod to the Star Wars Episode 4 scene where a stormtrooper bumps their head on a door that opens in the exact same fashion as the one Lucy walks through in that scene
One of the movies the Ghoul reminisces about is "A man and his dog," a nod to "A boy and His Dog" staring Don Johnson in a similar post-nuclear war apocalyptic setting. "We'll Meet Again" by Vera Lynn is an obvious throwback to the ending of Dr. Strangelove. There's probably dozens more, I just love how the show hit on everything related to the topic.

Why not both...he is definitely a Junkies build, high level, and has junkies explosive rifles.
And he is using 'that gun' from nee vegas
@qono1458 no he's not. His gun is the first of its kind in the series and I hope they put it in 76
I actually like what they did with the assault rifle in the show, they subtly retconned it to be a heavier weapon intended for use with power armor, which explains how bulky it is.
It’s not a retcon, when they made fallout 4 they were planning to make an LMG weapon type that was bigger than rifles and smaller than mini guns but they never put it in the final game, but that assault rifle was supposed to be in that category
im surprised they didnt name the horse Buttercup.
Giddyup
Buttercup 123 😁
🤣
My fav was the sounds from the og games, like the reload sound from the ghoul shootout.
ikr, they're using the game sound effects are probably one of the good things in this series.
I think Maximus in the fridge is more of a reference to Billy, a Ghoul in Fallout 4 who is also in a fridge.
there are more references of hiding in a fridge in fallout. new vegas has a fridge with a corpse inside if you choose to play with the wild encounters. the main reference being indiana jones
Yessssss
No tf its not…clearly a reference to Indiana jones…
Billy is an indiana jones reference tho tbf
This is also a Indiana Jones reference in the begining anyway
I dont actually think Thaddeus became a ghoul. I think hes becoming a super mutant. FEV is known to heal all wounds and ailments before turning the victim into a super mutant. If ghouls could regenerate that quickly, even just in the show, Cooper Howard would have grown his finger back after Lucy bit it off. Ghouls may not die easy, but they cant just reform a destroyed foot. FEV can do that though.
Thank you!
Also the wierd doctor gave him a "serum" he called it. Which you can get multiple serums in fallout 76. They all have negative and positive mutatuons. But you can get a perk card that negates the negative effects of the mutations.
Ah, good point. They've played a little loose with the regenerative abilities of ghouls but this makes more sense even so.
YES! Thank you!!! I'm secretly hoping he turns into Frank Horrigan 2.0
I agree, seems way more in line with lore and also makes for much more interesting content down the line
I hope The Kings are still around and Austin Butler makes a cameo 😂😂
Im doing a play through of New Vegas right now and im totally gonna do that. I didn’t know you could have a dog companion in NV!! There’s so much stuff packed in to that one game, I love it
@@oOWeedJesusOo yeah!
You can have Rex OR ED-E exploring the wastes alongside you and any other normal companion you run into! Having 2 allies is always better than just 1!

I noticed that too. In my opinion, three is the best one, but if he loves four OK
I don't think he even played that 🤨
Dude, I was about to say the same thing. When he got to Dogmeat I felt like I was being gaslit into thinking 4 was the first game they’re in.
FYI, 3 is the best!!!
There's a lot wrong here lol.
For people that really know, & have played fallout, we can tell that you haven't.

Gotta jump on while the bandwagon is rolling I guess
Thats what im saying..this guy has no idea what he’s talking about
The video is full of inaccurate information. We should all thumbs down.
Totally feel the same. Referenced the wastelanders armor and didn’t mention the armored vault suit from fo3 or even the armor in the ending of fo1. Still a solid video but only played fo4 and 76 probably
There’s a part where coop says that you get into to random bullshit in the wasteland after they leave the swamp with the gulper and I loved that cuz it perfectly shows the course of playing a fallout game start a main quest do a side quest explore a building find an item… what was I doing again?
Yes, he says "thou shall get sidetracked by random bullshit every time" and that it was a Golden Rule haha
I think it's fair to say, this is by far the biggest love letter to gaming fans and especially Fallout fans. Proof that video game adaption is in fact possible when done right.
When Lucy leaves the vault for the first time you can hear the violins from Fallout 1/2's menu and music.
There's a huge non game Easter egg I haven't seen anyone talk about yet. Lucy's name is Lucy McClane, which is John McClanes daughters name in the Diehard movie franchise.
Nice catch!
It's McLean not McClane
@@Hans_Clp yes, but its pronounced McClane
Didn't know that was an actual character, but when I heard her name I did immediately think Die Hard
Most of the stuff you say came from Fallout 4 originated long before Fallout 4.
This bro clearly only played 20 hours of fallout 4 and called it a day. And played none of the others🤦
Yes! Finally someone else that thinks of the kid in the fridge instead! That's where my mind immediately went. Indy was an after thought
Its likely a reference to both as ita become a trope with Fallout, in FONV you could find a skeleton in a fridge with Indys hat.
That quest was inspired by the refrigerator scene in kingdom of the crystal skull as well as the wild wasteland easter egg in new vegas it’s a reference to the quest and Indiana jones
@@jcrossan1351 that's not what I meant.
It’s because it is a reference to Indiana Jones, they have referenced that scene in every fallout game since it was released
"Lucy’s pip-boy detects radiation with the same familiar sound effect from the games"
lol that is just the sound any Geiger counter makes IRL.
As a Fallout fan since the first game this series and in particular the intro/pre war scenes are everything that I could have ever hoped and dreamed for.

7:42 Maximus is also doing a fun Easter egg from the mission where there a boy stuck in a refrigerator and you have multiple chooses to leave him there or take him out but when you take him out the fridge, a person will ask if he for sale and there a yes or no thing

During lucys first night in the wasteland where the old man and dogmeat are looking over her gave me mysterious stranger vibes! Also when the ghoul shot the gulper attacking lucy
it is widely believed that John Wayne (feo, fuerte y formal) died of cancer after nuclear exposure in Utah where bomb detonation area was close to the set of "The Conqueror" in the 50's. Still Wayne lived till 1979.
Its ironic how Cooper Howard talks about escaping to Bakersfield ca in episode one. Thats where vault 12 is, and the experiment there was to slowly expose its occupants to radiation, they all turned to gouls.
Yup
Which became the Necropolis in Fallout 1
Is the family all ghouls? Will we have a Vault Dweller reference? Stay tuned for Season 2!🥳

Yesss noticed it too! 🎉
White hat to black hat same as West World
Would have love it if there was man in black from westworld lying dead somewhere to give Ed Harris a camio
And the German Shepard as his companion
Maximus hiding in the fridge reminded me of the "Kid in the Fridge" quest from Fallout 4.
When Lucy leaves the vault and travels through the old cars, she tries to talk to some wastelanders that don't even look at her. This makes me think of players going up to random wasteland npc's to see if you can talk to them.
I wish they would have brought back Ron Perlman for the line “War. War never changes.”
Well, it's not something obscure you missed, but since you mentioned *the Glue,* I would also point out that, at one point, the camera spent some seconds on *a fan.*
Another object that made me scream to the screen *"LOOT IT !"*
The violin music in episode 7 is the exact same music Agatha plays over the radio for you in Fallout 3
Nice catch!
Dogmeat is in multiple Fallout games, not just 4. Also, the music they played when the NCR flag was shown was the theme to Fallout 3 as well
Strange tactic to take it upon yourself to make an easter egg video to explain things from the Fallout universe when it seems like you only played Fallout 4 once for like a couple of hours max.

They also threw a few special vehicles that look right at home in the fallout universe like the Plymouth XNR concept car and Messerschmitt bubble car
My husband knows nothing about Fallout but had an absolute field day looking for the cars in the series.
Fredrick Sinclair and Mr. House in the same room😳 the aura
When the Ghoul ambushed the BOS guys it was cool how they brought him into that scene. He just suddenly appeared kinda like the Mysterious Stranger

I think Bethesda is giving us a big hint fallout 5 will be in California.
Actually I think it's the opposite of that. Bethesda gave the show runners a list of things to avoiding using, so that the show would not get in the way of future Fallout games. Since the show is set on the west coast, this tells me that Fallout 5 is likely to be set on the east coast.

My favorite easter egg was in the last episode, with the meeting room looking like the war room from Dr. Strangelove.
I think the "Don't lose your head" easter egg could also be a nod to the Star Wars Episode 4 scene where a stormtrooper bumps their head on a door that opens in the exact same fashion as the one Lucy walks through in that scene
I think the turret cameo when willzig is running away can be also a joke about how turrets almost never hit you in the games
