True, but it also wouldn't surprise me if at least one two-headed bear had been spotted in the wasteland at some point to help inspire that design. 🐻🐻 Of course, they also could simply be taking inspiration from the many two-headed cows. 🐮🐮
In New Vegas I kind of thought it was poetic that they had a 2 headed bear on the flag while going against the Legion, which is based on Rome, a nation with an origin 2 brothers raised by a wolf.

Didn’t like Maximus at first but he really grew on me when they entered Vault 4 as he came out his shell abit. They handled Lucy really well too. @@goofysmp It helps that she wasn't OP and perfect from the start. She went through the "Hero's Journey" where she made mistakes in the beginning and got in trouble more often than not, but was able to grow and develop as the show went on.
@@goofysmp I don't like her at all. I find her extremely annoying. She reminds me of those adorkable female leads we see in every Disney movie. Very badly written and very generic.
But that would fall under speech, of which she said in her list of accomplishments in her interview that she is basically an expert since she teaches classes in the vault. I would make the argument that her charisma is pretty high considering how often she gets herself out of situations through talking even when the people that she's talking to think she's a complete idiot they will still reluctantly give her what she wants even though they could easily just kill her. Like, no one takes her seriously but they'll still end up eventually doing exactly what she tells them to do- on top of the fact that she always gets the truth out of people, that's a high charisma build right there.
I didn't see it as Hank going to take over New Vegas; I think he was going to Robert House to seek shelter, and I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that canonical ending of FNV was that Mr House won out and is still running the place.
no way, look at new vegas again, its desert, theres nothing there, i’m like 50% sure theyre gonna start season 2 with hank exploring a dead new vegas and probably finding house dead or in a bad way, struggling to pick up the pieces. maybe the yes man ending is cannon and the theory that yes man would betray the courier and thats why new vegas doesnt look so glamorous anymore
@@m40pill When credits roll there's a scene of a pretty run down strip, and destroyed securitrons, so I wouldn't be too surprised if something has happened to the place either. Doesn't matter what the show does, I'm looking at it like an alternate timeline from the FO1+2+NV games altogether. It's still a fun watch.
The water chip scene made me have a little gamer chuckle. The scene where the goul talks about how you get sidetracked by the wasteland made me laugh so hard. 😂
its not a vats reference since only vault dwellers have vats (VAULT- TEC assisted targeting systems) its a nod how adding a scope to your weapon increases accuracy by a ton
Yeah but fallout 4 is set before this TV series so the ghoul mentioning the dog as dogmeat and the red rocket station is just a easteregg or something because those timeliness don't match up at all.
This show had WAY more hits than misses. The writing and comedy aspects of the show were very weak at points, but all in all they adapted this franchise so much better than many many others before them. I really enjoyed the show, gladly will watch subsequent seasons.
@@PlantationSensation You're not wrong, but the story of this show provides a lot of intriguing intertwined plotlines. I was at the very least wanting to know the mysteries that were laid out. I am more referring to some of the scenes that leaned more into silly rather than serious. Makes sense in the vein of fallout being a bit whimsical at times, but sometimes scenes that should have been serious were airing on the side of comedy threw me off at points.
@@zzygyy Lucy reacted to her finger getting ripped off like she popped a pimple...she also was playing with a severed head just 1 day after leaving the vault...I think that she could have acted these out a lot better lmao, not to say she did a bad job it was great
@@TheRazorHailidk I think that portrayal of Lucy is very reflective of how our vault dweller characters from the games can immediately go out and slaughter every living thing as soon as we get out the vault so it never really bothered me
I think one of my favorite aspects of the show is that for each important character you can almost see their special stats😂 like the ghoul is just a cowboy build from NV high perception, agility, and endurance. Lucy is an all rounder with a focus on smarts and luck. Her brother is a smart charismatic build. Maximus is a low int high strength build. I absolutely love that aspect.
Amazon Prime + Wolton Goggins is a winning combination. Between this, Reacher, The Boys & my favorite Invincible, they’re mounting up the number of series that are my go tos.

@@ekulerudamuru it's almost like the fallout series has been through 3 major dev studios and numerous writers so no one is going to agree with the direction of the plot.
I gotta disagree with your prediction - I think Hank is reporting back to Mr House, the only surviving/awake leader from that Vault Tec council. He’s a follower, not a leader. Probably wants help getting revenge on Coop.
Got to wonder which ending they decide to go with in NV for season two. I noticed the battle of hoover dam was missing from the chalkboard so it makes me wonder if house's ending is the cannon ending and the NCR was forced out
Also I JUST remembered that the blonde pregnant lady (forgot her name) came from Vault 31 but we didnt see her prewar so i wonder what role she played in Vault Tec
@@longjonsilver1307 She does seem off in many ways. Her going banana's with a fork in her eye, her weird kink with Chet (what was with that scene where she puts a bag of ice in her pants?). She'd make a great villain for later seasons
She looks very young compared to the other people from Vault 31, so I theorize she might have been stuffed inside a cryo pod at a very young age compared to the others.
@@StephaneTheard Actually everyone of them were young when they were frozen. They were woken up at different time periods.. That's why the age difference..
@@RobinSonAr Your are differently not wrong, but what I mean is that she seems way younger than even some of the others at vault 31. Like she is at least in her mid to late 20’s not only based on her appearance, but also the fact she interacted with people who seem to be around her age range (Lucy) which is why I assume she was frozen when she was still a little girl.
Just realized Cooper Howard is practically the actual Pip-Boy. All this time, the series is following the story of Fallout main character afterall, Pip-Boy. Mind blown. Edit: It's VAULT Boy. Pip-Boy is the arm-band device.
as someone that has never played the games, but accidentally clicked on the trailer for the series, and instantly wanted to watch it....but then needed to know more abut it, I gotta tell ya, this breakdown is incredible. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for. Nice job, and thank you
A lot questions left unanswered. Cooper Howard doing kids birthday appearances to pay for alimony almost skipped my mind at the end of the season, but yeah, I guessed when he found out what his wife planned he got a divorce, but it's not a sure thing, was never confirmed. And the guy asking for him to pose with a thumbs up for a photo also makes sense now. Also, starting to think Rose might've been bisexual, or at least that Moldaver was into her. Definitely seemed like they might've had a deeper connection. That'd also explain why Hank MacLean went literally nuclear.
I know Ive been commenting a lot, but I keep remembering things I noticed thanks to this video. I actually love the parallel plot lines of Norm and Lucy both finding out exactly who their dad is as a person. The difference in approach, but (essentially) coming to the same conclusion is pretty clever, and will put both siblings on a more even playing field once they're reunited. SO well done.
Great breakdown. I note that Noone is talking about the mysterious man who messages Coops wife during the business roundtable. She then pitches the end of the world. I get a very Enclave feel here.
Missed one: The title "a man and his dog" is a reference to the movie "a boy and his dog", a post apocalyptic movie that was an inspiration to the dev team for fallout. And Dead Horse is from the tribes of new Canaan.
Strange though how Hank just hopped into it while unloading the previous passenger in under a second… I would have preferred a struggle or diversion to take place first
Mr. House may be a monster, but you gotta give the man some credit, he quite literally prevented Vegas from being obliterated by not just one but multiple detonations…boy it makes you wonder if Vault tech was responsible for that shit too, I mean they had to have known House was there right?
I'm pretty certain the game's own lore goes well and out of its way to never confirm this, I was shocked the show outright confirms it. However, that does not mean these two canons are shared between one another either.
@@LewisB3217 Sure. But they're not the authority on the show or it's direction. What I don't get was why Cooper all of a sudden remember a vulnerability in the T-60 which he never used the first time he encountered Maximus inside one.

@@animeminians7451Trust me I’m not offended. And who cares what the guys skin color is ya snowflake. Was just out of left field and made me laugh lmao. Weird way to describe someone
There are people who are saying that chalkboard scene de-canonizes New Vegas but completely chose to ignore the fact the arrow on the board pointed after the year 2277 of the Fall of Shady Sands. It basically says that the explosion happened after 2277 which puts the total ruining of the city around if not after the events of New Vegas. I can't believe some fans forgot how arrows work. It is that tiny bit of reading comprehension and a sector of the fanbase immediately came to the conclusion that they tried to retcon New Vegas for some weird reason. I think people were ready to find something latch onto and cry about because overall the show truly captured Fallout in the most neat way possible. Also the NCR being a ruined or declining state has been hinted at for the longest time within the lore of the games. Just like all governments of the world, they eventually decline.
yeah I think it really because the fallout fandom has a decent number of New Vegas NCR glazers, like sure the NCR comprised other cities too but when your capital city and your government just blows up you think people in the post-apocalypse are gonna be sensible? No! If Washington, DC just blew up today there's not magically gonna be a new fully functional national government, it's gonna be a free-for-all for who takes the mantle
I’m super upset Matthew Perry passed away a couple years back. Would have LOVED to see him in this series. Edit: I am definitely dyslexic because when I looked up when he passed I thought it said 2021.
18:56 The bear on the actual Californian flag was the California grizzly bear, which is now extinct. In my headcannon, I think the two-headed bear on the NCR flag went extinct as well.
Not sure about the bear being extinct, the two headed bear isn't a depiction of a creature, it's symbolic of two civilized hubs coming together to form the NCR.
Two headed bear is symbolism. they know 2 heads is a thing because of the brahmen, and bears are the fiercest creatures in the waste (also native to california) mutation also implies evlolution so, "we are the evolved bear thriving in the wasteland of california" is my interpretation
I always just thought they found a 2 headed bear or found a old cali flag and modified it. .... great now I want to see a banner with a Deathclaw on it.
I didn't have much hope for the show, but seeing Walton in it gave me some small hope. Michael Emerson's character and Cx404 made me pop up and do the DiCaprio finger point meme as it's the same dynamic from Person of Interest. I'd like to think it was an intentional bit, but it was cool anyway, lol. I still have my original CD's and manuals from Fallout 1, and seeing that world made "real" was amazing. The production did an excellent job of adding in the little details and essence of the Fallout universe. Overall, there's not much I can say negatively about it, there will always be "artistic license" and changes made when adapting something for TV/Movies, and this did a pretty good job of conveying the heart of the Fallout world. I enjoyed that Lucy even with her skills and knowledge wasn't just another "Girl Boss", she got beat up and kicked around a lot, and had to be ruthless and creative to find ways to triumph. One of the few modern female characters that made me think of Ripley from Aliens. During my years in the Army, I encountered MANY "leaders" like Titus, people who we only saluted the rank, not the man. The T-60 armor was awesome, the fact they seem to have made so much of it a "practical" effect instead of totally CGI gave it so much more reality and weight. As an old geezer who has loved Fallout for a major chunk of my life, I gotta tip my hat to this production, it made me laugh, smile, and brought back many memories of nights spent hunched in front of the monitor navigating the wilds of the fallout world.
Agreed, my biggest issue with the show personally was that it feels just a little rushed. We're burning through it quick, there's more time to be had for character.
The Vault 4 plot line took up a lot of time that it didn't have to. It made the last 2 episodes feel rushed imo. It provided a little character development without really furthering the plot.
You evil boy with a computer. Well played. Betty should have probably kept her mouth shut when she spoke to that young man about how dangerous words were.
The comment I was looking for. What was the point of bringing up his race, and using the word ‘that?’ Even weirder being the commenter is Black himself, but just that phrasing along some other things the commenter said tells me a lot about him… but that’s for another channel.
Are you guys doing an episode by episode breakdown?? Just curious Would be appreciated for those of us who can’t binge the whole season in one sitting but want to see details after each episode 😅❤
The representative for big mt is Frederick Sinclair from the dead money dlc of F:NV. Makes sense as he was said to be a big proprietor of their technology using it in the sierra madre e.g holographic technology.
The scene were dogmeat goes into the cave and comes running out with a hand is a direct nod to a scene from Akira Kurosawa's "Yokimbo" where our titular hero comes into the town and gangsters and the dog comes running by with a hand in it's mouth.
I noticed the Fancy Lads Snack Cakes that were in the basket Vault 4 gave to Maximus (with the caviar). Also noticed the Fallout 4 theme that plays in Vault 4. And the final sign talking about the cryo chambers mentions "The Tops" which is one of the casinos in New Vegas. Lucy's first gun was a syringer (which is a gun you can find in the games). Later, she ends up with a 10mm pistol (which is the starting pistol in Fallout 4 that you find in Vault 111). There was a tiny mini nuke hanging up in the Vertibird that Maximus flies in. There's a regular mini nuke in Majune's store, too. The fusion core isn't really an Easter egg, but we all know how important those things are in the games. The teddy bears that Dogmeat (4) loves...I found that amusing so much because Dogmeat can be given those teddy bears in Fallout 4 and the dog will play with it. If you leave it in the dog's inventory, it will take the teddy bear out sometimes while it's idle and throw the bear around a bit. :D
As a huge Fallout fan of course. I loved every bit of it. So prior to the show dropping last night an hour before that is, I redownloaded Fallout 4. Then after binging all 8 episodes I now have New Vegas redownloading on the pc.
I’d like to point out the part where “Sorrel Booker” is introduced. This is a character based off of “Boss Hog” aka Sorrel Booke the actual actor name from the TV show “ The Dukes of Hazard” he even portrayed him. I thought it was a cool Easter egg that apparently no one has caught or realized yet.
A couple you missed. not sure if they were intentional but the over arching plot of "i gotta find my father" is very FO3 like and the scene with McLean shoving his daughter in the closet gave me serious FO4 vibes of when he the player gets trapped in the cryo tube after losing his wife and son.
I'm curious on what happened to the Enclave too? It definitely explains how Dr. Wilzig knew about Vault 33, if not from Muldaver, but I want to see if they make an appearance in S2 or the Fallout 5
The Doc escaped from an Enclave compound? Also, the board meeting with allt he company heads at Vault tek that coop is spying on, Im pretty sure they're the Enclave.
I enjoyed the little clues they gave in the first episodes for the big reveal. Everybody knew Moldaver because she was the president of NCR and The Ghoul lost his job as an actor in the first minutes of the show because he spied on Vault Tec
Taken four days to finish the series. Binging the show would have been overexerting the viewing brain. The secret of optimizing enjoyment is breaking up positive reinforcement stimuli into smaller parts, spreading them out over time. Wielding the power of de-habituation. Thank you MT for sacrificing that enjoyment for this channel. You must have lacked sleep making this vid. Much appreciated my dude. May Paul give you a bonus raise.
Excellent review!!! OH, bc you missed mentioning it - the Observation layout is from Fallout 4 right to the point of the cage/cell that Hank is trapped in...
I would love it if yes man took control of new vegas, but it's more likely that either Mrs. House Is still in control cuz otherwise hank doesn't have much of a reason to go there, I could also see it being the NCR which would explain how they were able to grow shady sands so much by alcatuating resources from new vegas, I'm curious to also see if the legion is still around, we didn't rly hear anything about the faction during the first season which makes me think they got wiped out but it would be rly cool to see their faction and attire in live action. ALSO I WANT TO SEE SUM ALIENS!!!!! and hopefully if season one is successful we can see sum more monster in season 2 instead of getting blue balled like sum super mutants and deathclaws
Hank may assume Mrs. House is in charge, as resourceful House was, one might thing he would figure out a way to survive. It's not like he can call House and ask when the communication network was nuked in the great war. well season 2 will answer that.
I freakin LOVED Fallout. Watched the WatchParty last night on Amazon, and immediately binged it afterwards. Finished the last ep this morning. I am excited for s2 already. Just a lil bit ago Steam recieved a News bulletin for the Fallout4 update coming on April 25th, 2024.
The executive producer of this series is Jonathan Nolan, brother of Christopher Nolan. Nolan has collaborated on several films with his brother who adapted Jonathan's short story "Memento Mori" into the film Memento. Together, the brothers co-wrote The Prestige, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, also Interstellar
maybe unintended (especially given Cooper asks "where is my family" in the last episode) but kinda wild that Betty let Cooper have custody of their kid the day the bombs dropped given she was apparently deeply involved with that part of the plan. Surely that's the one day you circle in your diary as keep daughter home
I think that implies that the bombs weren't dropped on Vaulttecs timetable. Could have been China, the United States, or the Enclave or some other third party.
I hope we get more matt berry. I love him in what we do in the shadows and this is the only other role I can recall seeing him in. Unfortunately we only have 1 more seasons of shadows so I am hoping I get to see him do a lot more.
Bro im with you, I was fucking WAITING to see that damn Deathclaw. Now I gotta wait longer. You did see the Enclave, the board meeting between Coops wife and House and Big MT, those guys are the Enclave, also you seen an Enclave compound when introduced to the Doctor with Dogmeat, he escapes from the Enclave, so while we didn't see any agents in the flesh, they're here and functioning in plain sight for the viewers anyway lol.
I noticed two cool things, one is that the radio classical music had very heavy digitizing in its noise hinting at the Institution im guessing. Another thing is that I have a feeling that Maximuses friend from the brotherhood is actually a synth
Thanks so much for the breakdown and all the easter eggs! I got most of them, but not all, so this was great! Also worth noting they show the junk gun in use in the first episode! :) SO stoked for this show, and I look forward to S2!
they are not gone , part of them are probably scattered after the assault on their base but also a part of them are the refugees in vault 4 bc we saw them worshiping moldaver
@@chaoticmind176 Hey it’s still gone for now. They turned the nation of the NCR into a wasteland yet again. Bethesda gotta let the wasteland aesthetic go, but instead they destroy the west coast
@@Paladin_Johnson It wouldn’t make sense for them to control LA since we realistically would have encountered them by now, but I do think it’s possible the NCR still exist but we’re kicked out of Southern California and Mojave and are still present in Central and Northern California.
Great recap, MT! Glad to see you’re a Fallout fan that can really dig into the material. I’m thinking maybe the two-headed bear fit their story better than the brahmin cows, but like you pointed out the creators get a lot of small details like hacking in there that really went the extra mile to bring out the nostalgia for a new narrative.
How is Moldaver alive? She’s shown in prewar scenes, and she’s still alive and looks the exact same almost 300 years later. Felt like I missed something there and it seemed like a plot hole to me.
It is a bit weird since she was in Shady Sands when Lucy was a child, so she must've stuck around for what, at least 15 years after coming out of cryo? Probably also spent a fair bit in Shady Sands beforehand and she don't look ~20 years older from the time she was put in cryo. Oh well, can't spend the whole budget de-aging everyone like they did Kyle MacLachlan.
@@Kingdeasq Agreed. If she froze herself too, that would’ve been nice to know. She’s the only thing I have a gripe with. Did she freeze herself too? And how did she become leader of the NCR remnants. Also very confusing on how she got the people of vault 4 to worship her.
@@KingdeasqYeah another comment mention the raiders thing and even I couldn’t come up with a good explanation about why she used these raiders. It honestly feel like the writers just added the raiders just to make a reference to the games, and her character being from the pre-war times for shock value. Hopefully by season 2 these plot holes are explained.
Great video, thanks for taking the time to put it together. Loved the show and will gorge myself on season 2. :) I reckon the only easter egg was the 101097 code. The rest was just paying attention to detail and faithfully reproducing the games. Cheers!

The Vault 21 Mr House Concrete Theory has some backing to it now
There are people who are saying that chalkboard scene de-canonizes New Vegas but completely chose to ignore the fact the arrow on the board pointed after the year 2277 of the Fall of Shady Sands.
You want de-canonization? How about war with Russia instead of China?
yeah I think it really because the fallout fandom has a decent number of New Vegas NCR glazers, like sure the NCR comprised other cities too but when your capital city and your government just blows up you think people in the post-apocalypse are gonna be sensible? No! If Washington, DC just blew up today there's not magically gonna be a new fully functional national government, it's gonna be a free-for-all for who takes the mantle
that makes sense as a speculation until you see the final scene .

Two headed bear is symbolism.
they know 2 heads is a thing because of the brahmen, and bears are the fiercest creatures in the waste (also native to california)
mutation also implies evlolution
so, "we are the evolved bear thriving in the wasteland of california" is my interpretation
I always just thought they found a 2 headed bear or found a old cali flag and modified it.
.... great now I want to see a banner with a Deathclaw on it.
I've had this same thought from time to time over the years, too, though you put it much more eloquently than I ever did. 😊
The two headed bear is symbolism of the two groups coming together to form the NCR.
You didnt mention the inactive assaultron that Lucy saw when heading to Santa Monica
I hated the fallout 4 weapons being in the show... but with the Pridwin being there... there is a reason for them.
Next season should be 10 episodes for better pacing
Agreed, my biggest issue with the show personally was that it feels just a little rushed. We're burning through it quick, there's more time to be had for character.
The Vault 4 plot line took up a lot of time that it didn't have to. It made the last 2 episodes feel rushed imo. It provided a little character development without really furthering the plot.

The refrigerator was a reference to Billy, the child ghoul in FO4. This is the third time I've seen a supposed FO fan comparing it to Indiana Jones.
I’ve never played the series, is Fallout 4 a good start after watching the show ??
I’d like to point out the part where “Sorrel Booker” is introduced. This is a character based off of “Boss Hog” aka Sorrel Booke the actual actor name from the TV show “ The Dukes of Hazard” he even portrayed him. I thought it was a cool Easter egg that apparently no one has caught or realized yet.
A couple you missed. not sure if they were intentional but the over arching plot of "i gotta find my father" is very FO3 like and the scene with McLean shoving his daughter in the closet gave me serious FO4 vibes of when he the player gets trapped in the cryo tube after losing his wife and son.

while looking at the flag with two headed bear ... the music played is the intro music to fallout4 😁

ALSO I WANT TO SEE SUM ALIENS!!!!! and hopefully if season one is successful we can see sum more monster in season 2 instead of getting blue balled like sum super mutants and deathclaws

maybe unintended (especially given Cooper asks "where is my family" in the last episode) but kinda wild that Betty let Cooper have custody of their kid the day the bombs dropped given she was apparently deeply involved with that part of the plan. I hope we get more matt berry. I love him in what we do in the shadows and this is the only other role I can recall seeing him in. Unfortunately we only have 1 more seasons of shadows so I am hoping I get to see him do a lot more.
This show made me so happy as a fan of the games. I’m upset I didn’t get to see a deathclaw or the enclave but hopefully in season 2
Got let that story build up
Gotta save some of the bigger, scarier mainstays for season 2. I hope for those they use practical effects
I'm hoping for super mutants in season 2.
So you’re on here as well as New Rockstars? Nice! I watched both channels during the Moon Knight season so that’s awesome!
I noticed two cool things, one is that the radio classical music had very heavy digitizing in its noise hinting at the Institution im guessing. Another thing is that I have a feeling that Maximuses friend from the brotherhood is actually a synth
Whys that?
Completly forgot about synths but nah I feel she just plays people to her benefit
Synths are only present in the Boston Area as they originate from the Institute
I binged it yesterday and loved it. I've played most of the games and loved the 50's theme and humor like in the games.
The poster for A Man and His Dog was a reference to the movie A Boy and his Dog, starring Don Johnson from Miami Vice
FYI for anyone who’s come into this thread blind, this movie was basically the biggest inspiration for the franchise
That radroach comment got me tearing 😂😂😂 yes sir I would sleep with power armor on too 😂😂😂😂😂😂
“When that black vault dweller” I was like aaayooo chiilll, the vault dweller with the broken water chip work too 😂
Thanks so much for the breakdown and all the easter eggs! I got most of them, but not all, so this was great! Also worth noting they show the junk gun in use in the first episode! :) SO stoked for this show, and I look forward to S2!
Bummed that the NCR is gone. Seems like Bethesda can’t let go of the apocalypse
they are not gone , part of them are probably scattered after the assault on their base but also a part of them are the refugees in vault 4 bc we saw them worshiping moldaver
@@chaoticmind176 Hey it’s still gone for now. They turned the nation of the NCR into a wasteland yet again. Bethesda gotta let the wasteland aesthetic go, but instead they destroy the west coast
@@chaoticmind176 The NCR is pretty much gone then.
Looking at the giant landscape shots from the last episode with hundreds of buildings, doesn’t look like the ncr is gone at all to me
@@Paladin_Johnson It wouldn’t make sense for them to control LA since we realistically would have encountered them by now, but I do think it’s possible the NCR still exist but we’re kicked out of Southern California and Mojave and are still present in Central and Northern California.
She may have been acting two characters.
She froze herself as well. Just like Hank
I reckon the only easter egg was the 101097 code. The rest was just paying attention to detail and faithfully reproducing the games.
Cheers!
There was a nuka breaker Easter egg in filly the first time were there. One of the background guys is holding it while beating on a guy.
