    Great to see you moving on with the B-24, the part you mention at 1:23 is the tail control shroud, basically a plywood box that covered and protects the elevator controls from damage or possible debris so nothing could get jammed in the controls, I think the lower section also acted as a support for the ammo track guide to the rear turret.

      Thanks for the comment. Are they all wood? In some pictures it’s metal looking? I will dig further and see if I can provide a link.

    That is very impressive, a great way to get to grips with the details of the B24.

    I'm building it now, and like you, I skipped over step 2 in the instructions that deal with the nose gear, I ordered the brass upgrade parts from Aerocraft Models and they have not shipped yet. I hope the gear support parts have enough flex to install them later. I will wait for them to show up before I join the fuselage halfs.

    The B24 had the Davis airfoil. This was an airfoil of low drag and with the planform of the wing it was efficient at higher altitudes than the airfoil used on the B17. There are profiles out there of the airfoil used on the B24 that could be and have been used by scale modellers to correct the incorrect profile. There was no dihedral or anhedral in the main wing. It was straight from tip to tip on all models.

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16
      @inclusivemodeldesigns16  4 роки тому +1

      I have seen those. I’m just not sure if I’m going to go that far? A few folks have broke their wings trying to fix their models. In this day and age shipping is so slow. I’m not sure if I wanna halt the build for a potential mistake? I’ll dig more into it though... The Davis wings on HB’s part was a major oversight!

    That part in the tail section could be the support for the hydraulic pump for the rear turret. If you google it, the pump looks pretty easy to scratch build.

    What color do you use , it looks very accurate to me

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16

      I am using Mustard yellow then going over it with none other than actual Zinc Yellow/Green. The actual stuff.

      Inclusive Model Designs got ya , that seems like a good idea , I have been using Mr Hobby 27 interior green , I am not sure if there is a right or wrong color , I see a lot of variation

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16
      @inclusivemodeldesigns16  4 роки тому +2

      @@spinum73 It all depends on what plant the B-24 came out of? Also what year etc. B-24D's are early or late production etc?

    When you want to use a stand then a cutaway model with the crew inside (in action) wood be cool!

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16
      @inclusivemodeldesigns16  3 роки тому

      I really want to go the “stand” way but am still looking for the best option. Cutaway would be sweet, but I’m to far along for that. However, with this model being so big you can see in pretty easily.

    It is a real treat to watch this come together. I wish I could tell you how genuinely enjoyable this is for me. (I lack the means to do so myself.)
    I cannot hear your name well enough that I could spell it. UA-cam's closed captioning does not help, naming you "christmas" (no capitalisation). Even sillier, at 5:02 in your video, you refer to the "B-24J", which on-screen reads "v-24 jade". I therefore need your help in this.

    From part one to this chapter, how many days do you think it took four hours it took to get to this stage?

  • @Zone5Aviation
    @Zone5Aviation 4 роки тому +1

    Just a pointed regarding the wing shape. It’s actually the chord shape (leading edge to trailing edge) that’s incorrect, not the Dihedral. Dihedral is the angle of the wing from the inboard end at the fuselage to the wing tip.
    Regardless, awesome effort, I’ve just picked one of these up for a commission so your videos are helping me learning something before I get stuck in.

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16

      Great comment. I am not as familiar with the B-24 as I am with the B-17. I am trying to build as I research. Some things will just have to be left as is... Like the wings.

    Isn't it strange, these companies get their box art correct, but make the model wrong? The HKM Lancs in 1/48 and 1/32 show the intakes correct then give you wide mouth frog plastic intakes??

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16

      HKM has let me down very much in the past... Yet I buy their 1/48 LANC & B-17????

  • @JaRek555

    I think that the interior color should not be zinc chromate yellow, but us cockpit green. Zinc chromate yellow was used in landing gear wells and places that were not visible from the outside through the cockpit windows.

      @inclusivemodeldesigns16  3 роки тому

      I used this as my guide. www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2004/02/stuff_eng_interior_colours_us_part2.htm

    • @JaRek555
      @JaRek555 3 роки тому

      This is generally not wrong, but for cockpits was black added to the zinc chromate yellow and resulted in cockpit green. Zinc chromate yellow was too light for the crews. That's what is stated in this document under Cockpit Green Colors:
      www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2004/01/stuff_eng_interior_colours_us.htm
      The remaining inner surfaces were correctly in zinc chromate yellow.
      Your model is very nicely built, but the cockpit color is too light and to yellow.
      Here is the correct color of the cockpit:

      Sorry for my english. :)

      I am glad I am waiting for some aftermarket parts. I am still wondering that same thing kinda? Wheels? Stand?

    • @detlevschmalzbauer2346
      @detlevschmalzbauer2346 4 роки тому

      @@inclusivemodeldesigns16 I'm thinking about buying the kit,but I hesitate because of this problem.A stand would be a solution.I just find it unreasonable that Hobby Boss leaves the modeller alone with their design failure.Why didn't they use metal parts like for the P-61B(/A)?And I wonder why no aftermarket company offers something .SAC offers e.g.for the A-26 a metal nose gear bay,but why not for the B-24 kits??

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16
      @inclusivemodeldesigns16  4 роки тому

      @@detlevschmalzbauer2346 I look at it this way. HK Models charges double the price of their kits and offers nothing. Hobby Boss offers their kit for less. True their are a few things wrong with the B-24 kit, but their are just no other options out there... I personally like the B-24D kit. Now another thing to consider if you are building this with the ball turret, if you put it on it's wheels the ball turret will be in the stowed position. I am thinking of a stand. The props are to small. You may want to look at a seller on Ebay that is selling spare props from the HK B-17 kit.

    As a modeler also i just dont see the point of pursuing su much detail in an area that will be un accessible to the viewing public! Unless you WANT to do that.

    • @inclusivemodeldesigns16
      @inclusivemodeldesigns16  4 роки тому

      I totally agree. However I do it for many reasons. Someone may want to display the plane with compartments open? With me showing what can be done it may aid them in their build? (ie battle damage etc) I also have companies that send me items to try out in models, so it's a great chance for me to show them off. Lastly, I put a lot of research into my projects. Most of my clients are museums. It is nice to see what the inside of these planes look like. I try and re-create that to the best of my ability...

    GREAT video, I give a crap about the wing either. I have the "J" model and want this one too. MY biggest gripe was the props being out of scale, (Too Small).
