Am I the only one who couldn't stop focusing on the pube in middle of the button panel for the first 2 minutes? Just a testament to the high definition of your camera, really. Regardless, great review! I had the Etch A Sketch Animator 2000, which was released a couple of years later, but I had no idea this one had even existed. Thanks for the in depth examination.

I saw this in another video just now and got hit with such nostalgia I almost broke down. I had one of these as a child and it was one of my favorite toys. Also it kills me to hear you say it's such an old toy lol!

Actually, it was a 4-bit machine. (I didn't know that, until I saw a video prior to yours, showing the 4-bit CPU inside.)
RECALL just recalls the last frame that was on-screen.

I had one of these back in the late 80s/early 90s. The packaging included a plastic sheet that fit over the screen with a printed grid, which made it easier to move the cursor around to the right pixel positions to draw your images. There was an instruction booklet that featured some practice animations like a smiling, winking face, a baseball player, and a few other things. The animations would play sound as well. They were tinny, mono, semi-musical, but it's the best we had in the 80s.

I had oneof theseas akid, and sliced it. I'm Cannot draw, but I could animate my rearend off on my etchasketch! I have searched and searched the internet for these, but could NEVER find it! I was searching under "electronic" etch a sketch. Just now something in my head said, try "digital" and low and behold! Proof! That one of my most beloved toys exists! I would describe it to people but Noone knew WTH I was talkining about. I could have swarm it was marketed as "the electronic etch a sketch", but never the less, thank you for posting your vid and sharing!

Same here.. I finally found it searching for “1980s pixel animator toy” .. I’d love to find all the great toys I had back then. I always loved the early digital art stuff - “draw on your TV screen” type deals, even though they mostly sucked.

I had one of these in the 80s. Good times.

Same here but until now I couldn’t remember what it was called. I remember making amateur pixel porn on it, which was quite a hit with the kids at school. ;)

I had one of these. It was actually a really cool toy back then. Always made cool annimations. It was like state of ch the art back in the 80's. I kinda miss those simple toys.

I kept mine in the box with the transfer grid and instructions and everything for so long. Got lazy in my teens and didn't put it back. Still have it and it works great, but no original packaging.

I thought this was so cool until i got it and realized to have to re draw each frame. I spent hours just to draw one frame. Mind you I was only 6 so it was probably too advanced for me

If they were to reproduce this today it would probably cost more to manufacture than a touch screen toy
