this port was utterly destroyed by the usual shills and haters that inhabit VR space and yet it's a true marvel on Quest, even back then with very low resolution. Tbh, if you go even lower resolution, like 55% it'll look downright like a 90s arcade (except far more geometric detail) and you can then pump framerate to 90Hz and it'll run so smooth... in my view, perfectly valid option too. Feels bad all the haters destroying most AAA that dare come to VR to challenge indies and their minigames, I hate this
huh, I guess now I gotta try that 55% 90fps option out :) While myself I'm a defender of VR in any shape and form, I totally see why "AAA VR haters" do exist. Too often bigger franchises just "don't treat VR with respect" it deserves :) My biggest hope and disappointment at the same time is Hitman VR. I even made a video ua-cam.com/video/dYhCqxlZiWE/v-deo.html that "it's not all that bad, it's still a content rich full-on game with tons of fun to be had"; but, come on, they didn't even add a roomscale option for VR players to turn around physically without lagging out and having to "recenter" on a button press after every swift physical turn. You are right in a sense that often people forget that "to each his own" and it's never been more true for VR: some like sitting experiences, some prefer roomscale; some like full on motion controls, some prefer using gamepad only... I'd say, as long as there's a clear consistent communication from devs - they would receive heaps of love from VR community; it just needs to be recognized in a first place.
UPD: i tried out 55% resolution scale, and you were right - it's amazing :) It's hard to recommend it for any new player though since visuals would push away many people; but once you are hooked on gameplay - switching from "highest res" to "lowest res, smoothest ride" makes total sense. Thanks once again for that tip!
Same thing happened to medal of honor I enjoyed that game very very much, sure it had its flaws, but it was an awsome full fledged game and reviewers destroyed it, instead of appreciating the effort and pointing out the wrongs for better future of the franchise
Yeah, it's a really good game and actually a very competent port, when you consider the hardware in the Quest. I'll try that 55% resolution 90fps, you mentioned. Thanks for the tip.
Dude, love your comments while you're racing LMAO!!!!! I've been looking for information like this and now I'm going to buy the game. Patent that wheel LOL!!!!!!
2 minutes in bro your doing God's work cuz I definitely gave this game 5 minutes and almost puked on launch day in definitely picking this up again especially as someone with no pc
How was your experience with GRID LEGENDS before and after this fix? 00:00 - Quick recap (2min) 02:11 - VIDEO settings 03:34 - Gameplay settings (& difficulty) 04:53 - CONTROLS settings 07:06 - Stick vs Motion Steering comparison 08:05 - Graphics are GREAT! 125% resolution scale 08:30 - Motion Steering Gameplay 09:40 - Stick Steering Gameplay 11:44 - back to Motion Steering 14:05 - re-grabbing the Steering "Wheel" 14:40 - to devs: "make motion steering a clear choice" 16:52 - I recommend it to EVERYONE! 17:43 - Great for every "VR car" game! 21:50 - Swivel chair "pro tip" 23:29 - Conclusion (Motion Steering) 23:47 - STEERING WHEEL demo contraption :) 39:58 - Outro
14:53 Thats key right there. Also should have a default good looking graphics setting. The biggest reason people raged about this at launch was that 75% resoultion it looked so bad. On quest 3 out of the box it runs at the identical settings as quest 2. They should out of the gate just have the resolution upped to 120 or 125 on quest 3, Found that it runs fine on quest 3 with 125% and 80hz + reflections. I bet 90 works as well, but 80 is totally fine for me. The biggest caviat is that this game runs everything at half framerate and uses application spacewarp to get double the framerate. Some artifacts along cars and cockpit view can be seen. But runs surprisningly well to use ASW, and that comes from a guy who HATES ASW 😅 To be fair i did not know there was an motion control option at all :P
I didn't even knkow there's ASW built-in (and I never use it on PC since I don't like how it looks there). The only thing i noticed this "ghosting" is probably when looking through the left window and seeithing that "shadow shake". Other than that - it's pretty smooth.
I waiting a long time to buy it because of some negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am absolutely like the graphics and performance on the Quast 2 and what was crucial for me was the addition of motion controls. I love the driving physics and the incredible amount of content that is offered here. For me it's by far the best racing game on the Quest! Can you tell me if you can watch the replays with an external camera view? And thank you for makeing this Video!
Thanks for the info! But I've been having a problem setting the controllers. I have Quest 3 and when I hit Motion Control for the hand controllers, it talks about overwriting bindings, then takes me to a big menu of all the controller bindings, but I see nowhere to just apply motion control. If I back out, it doesn't save.
Check the video, I think I do say that "don't forget to click apply/confirm/save button", otherwise if you just quit after changing bindings without saving - it won't be applied after all. You should see that "saving" icon in the bottom corner Not sure though if what you are saying is Quest 3 only problem, I don't have Q3 to check it myself.
just bought this game for the Quest 3 and it's really amazing. I can play at 125% with 90Hz now. Tons of content and the visuals are pretty good for a standalone game.
Considering buying this game for VR... Can you steer with both hands in motion steering mode (to simulate grabbing a steering wheel) or is it only with the one controller for motion steering...
As I remember, it's kind of possible, but it doesn't make much sense since inputs could start fighting with each other, so it becomes less precise and less responsive. I totally recommend this game though. It's really fine on Quest 2, but probably on Quest 3 it's a must-buy for sure since Quest 3 with have enough of power to run it both at high framerate with high resoluiton.
I tried setting motion controls just like this video but The result are you have to twist your wrist? Motion needs to go up and down, video does not show him using the home made Steering wheels?
@GanJJGames I mean, Grid online multiplayer no longer works at all on Quest 2 or Quest 3. Very unfortunate. Give it a try. You get booted from the game.
@sirrealdealz That's very unfortunate. I play mostly offline since I need vpn to get online, so I don't need multiplayer feature that much. But yeah, if it stays like this - that's sad for most of the players.

This make you question why they arent porting every ps2-ps3 racing game.. easy money. Nfs underground would pay itself.
Totally agreed! You can check out native PSP emulation though. Visuals are VR, input is via buttons/sticks.

I love the game it was the 5th game i purchased on the quest 3, it plays really nice.
I need to thank you, the game went from looking like complete mud, to actually being decently playable!

I purchased the game and I was able to pull a clean drift lap after a few minutes, it feels nice!
Thank you thank you thank you for the settings ❤
My pleasure! Get them all :)
Maybe with the controller set at the center of the "steering wheel" it will work perfectly. I'm going to fabricate something to test it.

I actually haven't tried watching replays yet; I'll let you know if I discover the way to replay with an external camera view!
And it would have worked perfectly if they added (external) controller support!
Thanks for the info! But I've been having a problem setting the controllers. Any ideas or videos on making a DIY steering wheel you can recommend?
Creativity is key

@@GanJJGames ah ok… I have the quest 2…
I tried setting motion controls just like this video but The result are you have to twist your wrist? Motion needs to go up and down, video does not show him using the home made Steering wheels?
Feel free to check timecodes and watch video again for both tilt motion control and handmade "steering wheel" demonstrations.
Watching for other videos on home made steering with quest 2 controllers, thank you,@@GanJJGames
is this game not steam but meta???
Yeah, this one is a standalone Quest 2-3 Meta game
They broke online multiplayer.
