One of the best my most optimised for VR is AMS2. AC is very good too. If you’ve got a beast of a PC then you can achieve great results in ACC as well 👍🏻
i tried it aswell for SimRacing 2 weeks ago, and even tho and obvious it was linked with a cable, the battery just drained way to fast, which was a real bummer and i wont recommend it just because of that for simracing
Hi, are you able to record a video of what your eyes are actually seeing in quest 3 rather than a playback of the track? I wish to have an idea what you guys are seeing and if what I’m seeing in my quest 3 is as good as it gets with a 4090
yeah man. Musk is working on a direct plug in to this guys brain so you can see exactly what his eyes are seeing. usb c directly into the ocular nerve.
hey, just really genuinely curious, what is your thought process when adding captions for specific words? I don't seem to find a pattern. why are you doing it and how do you pick the words you want to caption? like "microphone", "bluethooth" etc. seem to be random (which I'm curious about), while others seem to add extra info or disclaimers, which makes sense
Hello Shaolin :), I wanted to ask what the best bitrate setting is in the debug tool for Assetto Corsa and Automobilista 2, 500 800 or 960 everyone writes something different, I have a 4090 and mainly play Sims :)... Thank you very much for your help.....LG Sandro.
Hey, I’ve found anything above 600 to look great. I originally had it at 960 which I could run it at for AC and AMS2 but I dropped it down to 800 for ACC. I can’t really see much of a difference between the two if I’m honest.
Absolutely it will work. What we need to work out is what the highest values are that you can run. I would say set the values to what’s in the second article for the Quest 2 and lower spec GPU’s and then work up from there. It will take a bit of time but you should still get good results 👍🏻
Same as Q2 it wont charge it will just sustain charge a lot longer. Actually depends on the port of the computer is it has PD and its USB 3.1 3.2 etc and the quality of the cable. With different ports and cables you might get different results @@thesimracingshaolinstudent
Both look great in VR. AC can be made to look even better with ppfilters and even reshade too but it can be a little overwhelming for beginners. AMS2 just looks great out of the box, is very well optimised for VR and there’s less configuration needed so for beginners I would say AMS2 wins this one 👍🏻
Starting my research on a VR headset. I think the Quest 3 would be a solid choice as a first VR headset, although my PC isn't the strongest at the moment; i7-11700, 3060TI, 32gb ram. I do plan to build a dedicated gaming rig next year though. How important is the VR headset storage capacity of 128 vs 512? Also, my typical go to games are Dirt 2, AC and ACC, and most recently started playing EA sports WRC 2023. I need to see if there's any limitations with any of those.
Hey, so the storage capacity is only important if you plan on using the headset as a standalone headset too playing Meta games. If you're only using it for PCVR then I'd go with the 128GB version. ACC is terrible for VR even for the beefiest of PC's too. AC is really good and AMS2 is well known for being very good too. You can get a great image without having to set everything to high or ultra. I don't run Dirt 2 and haven't tried to latest WRC title so can't say I'm afraid. 👍🏻
@bunherr8974 I need to fire it back up again. I had so much fun in it. This is what got me into Simracing when I visited a VR experience place. They had two rigs running PC2 and it blew me away. 6 years later and thousands of pounds spent 🤣AMS2 is so good in VR because of the same engine it uses. I love PC2. Bring back videos with PC2 I say 🤣
I had a Rift S for six years. Just gave it to my son. Grabbed a Varjo Aero. The big difference is the resolution per eye. Everything is so much clearer now. And a wider fov. I'm glad made the upgrade.

"I have a question about VR racing that someone among you might be able to answer. Currently, I race with triple screens. If I connect a VR headset, I see in videos, that the game is still is being rendert on the monitors. In this case, are you not putting extra load on your GPU by rendering on both the monitors and the VR headset, or am I mistaken?"
Yes it's rendering the game on screen at a lower resolution. It then runs the game at the res you set to the headset but not as a display. It renders the game then encodes/compresses and sends it to the headset. I have a quest 2 I think it's great but for anything needing very low latency like dirt track racing you won't get under 30ms even at low render settings.
Just tried to test Project Cars 2 and AC... I get really bad shimmering on objects. I'm using a 3060ti, and I've tried to max out settings (just to see if I can make those go away with anti aliasing and super sampling.) I can't make it look very good. Any idea why? Then, I don't know what the priority in antialiasing.. I have tried to start at the bottom and use Trilinear, no MSAA, and it looks like garbage (of course!) I will bump it up to Anisotropic 2x and MSAA low.. The performance just tanks. I wish all of this was documented by Oculus on how to configure games properly!

Only on stock settings it will run smooth but the image quality is not very good, track and cars a bit more in the distance are quite blurry.. hate that. As soon as i bump settings up framerate drops a lot ... gpu the problem here ?
What are your device settings in the Oculus app set to and have you changed anything in the Oculus Debug tool? Also in Content Manager do you have anything set for Anisotropic filtering?
That gpu is very under powered to run a Q3 on PCVR. Will need to run it at 72hz and the lowest resolution with that card. So you’ll be leaving a lot of the visual quality on the table of the headset till you get a better graphics card
Im a pc noob so be gentle.. 😂 Is this stand alone on the quest 3 or do you need a high end pc to run this? Im a ps5 gamer using a thrustmaster and was looking at buying/building a sim racing pc to have wider range of games to play but dont have the first clue what I'm doing 😂
No problem. You can play games standalone on the Quest 3 but you can also connect it to a PC and play PC games. This video is about the Quest 3 and my initial impressions of it playing simracing games connected to a PC 👍🏻
Its great headset for most people but as far as sim racing biggest issues are losing performance on gpu because its not displayport and extra latency. If can afford it best option is probably bigscreen beyond i should have myn in a few weeks to test.

Hey, checkout this beginners guide for wheels and pedals I posted: ua-cam.com/video/XTLlCiYF3aE/v-deo.html 👍🏻 Let me know what you do buy 🙏🏻
what game do you recommend for quest 3
One of the best my most optimised for VR is AMS2. AC is very good too. If you’ve got a beast of a PC then you can achieve great results in ACC as well 👍🏻
have you tried dirt rally 2? if so, is it muddy or pixelated in the distance (about 30+ meters)?
I do have dirt rally 2 but have not tried it at all. I’ve got the day to myself today so will give that and try and let you know 👍🏻
@@thesimracingshaolinstudent did you try it out? that's probably the worst part of the dr2 quest2 experience
@z1kk i didn’t I’m afraid, no. I got caught up in AMS2 1.5.3 update. Will try and get to it in the week.
If it only had eyetracking.... then I would have bought it... now waiting for the new valve headset instead. And till then ps5 vr2 gt7.
Thanks for informative video. Just what i needed. I also have a valve index, but am disappointed with video quality.
i tried it aswell for SimRacing 2 weeks ago, and even tho and obvious it was linked with a cable, the battery just drained way to fast, which was a real bummer and i wont recommend it just because of that for simracing
Use Oculus link cable original (I thing 5 hourssesion in vr is enough for you)
The battery problem alone already made me give up the upgrade, long live my Quest 2 + Bobo VR Battery Strap.
Nice 👍🏻
Get a cable...
@@michaelb3798 that’s what I do. Always charged then 👍🏻
@@michaelb3798 I already have one. Going Quest 3 soon!!! Wonder how good it is compared to the Q2.
All quests have stupid hard comfort issues. Love my HP g2! Still the best!
Yeah I hear that. I dusted off my Valve over the holidays and that comfort was great.
Wow that ping nearly blew my ear drums out 😂
Hi, are you able to record a video of what your eyes are actually seeing in quest 3 rather than a playback of the track? I wish to have an idea what you guys are seeing and if what I’m seeing in my quest 3 is as good as it gets with a 4090
Have you changed any settings in the Oculus debug app yet and if so what values have you changed?
yeah man. Musk is working on a direct plug in to this guys brain so you can see exactly what his eyes are seeing. usb c directly into the ocular nerve.
Are you supersampling. You can with 4090 and get the best quality. Also as above with debug changes.
hey, just really genuinely curious, what is your thought process when adding captions for specific words?

Would have enjoyed hearing your review but the background audio is a smidge too loud and drowns you out at several points.
Thanks for the feedback. Another person said the same thing so I’ve now adjusted that on my recent videos. Appreciate your comments. 🙏
Anyone using one of these with 7900xtx
Performance in ACC?
Interested to know about this combo too
Will This work on i5 13th Gen, 4060Ti without any issues? Or will have to up the gpu to 4080 😢
Absolutely it will work. What we need to work out is what the highest values are that you can run. I would say set the values to what’s in the second article for the Quest 2 and lower spec GPU’s and then work up from there. It will take a bit of time but you should still get good results 👍🏻
Great content! Question: So when the quest 3 is plugged in to a computer, does it charge the batteries? Or do you have to charge it in between races?
It doesn’t keep it fully charged but it drains slower for sure. I’ve got the docking station so after use it sits in there and charges. 👍🏻
Same as Q2 it wont charge it will just sustain charge a lot longer. Actually depends on the port of the computer is it has PD and its USB 3.1 3.2 etc and the quality of the cable. With different ports and cables you might get different results @@thesimracingshaolinstudent
@@petek7951 I’ve got a 790 and didn’t know that so thanks for the information. Will be trying this today 👍🏻
Will i be able to run it with a laptop rtx 4060? Mainly for Iracing
Which is better in VR, .. AC or AMS2?
Both look great in VR. AC can be made to look even better with ppfilters and even reshade too but it can be a little overwhelming for beginners. AMS2 just looks great out of the box, is very well optimised for VR and there’s less configuration needed so for beginners I would say AMS2 wins this one 👍🏻
TLDR what do u think quest 3 worth it for assetto corsa and dirt rally 2 or i need to stay by the quest 2?
You dont beed storage at the slightest, if you only do sim racing
PC2's VR performance is also very good, i play it on a gtx1080 with rift S, absolutely smooth
@@thesimracingshaolinstudent I have a 5900x/Strix 3090 and a Varjo Aero VR headset. ACC is very playable for me. Not as nice as AMS2.
Is a quest 3 worth getting if you already have a quest 2 and use a hp reverb g2 on pc for sim racing bits
I would say not, no. The G2 is a great headset for Simracing still 👍🏻
Hi, does it work well now with 120hz?
Have an Oculus Rift & it has been a gem working with iRacing & AC. Not sure if i need to upgrade at all since it works!
If you’re happy I wouldn’t switch. Things are moving so quickly in VR. It’s going to be worth watching to see what happens in 2024 🙏
I had a Rift S for six years. Just gave it to my son. Grabbed a Varjo Aero.
The big difference is the resolution per eye. Everything is so much clearer now.
And a wider fov.

What fps are u getting? Mine seems to be stuck at 71fps no matter what I do
What settings do you have in the Oculus app? In particular your refresh rate? I get pretty much 90fps.
@thesimracingshaolinstudent highest It let me. But also I'm using a 3080. But also I upped some of the stuff in the debug tool. Even when I set iracing for performance mode fully. The fps stays the same. Maybe it's something I need to change in the video card GeForce settings panel
Why do you use built in mic and not stand alone decent headset? Im planning on buying my first VR and im bit confused here.
do you have your quest on the default resolution?
Hey. No was running it at 72hz and then the max resolution which from memory is 1.5x 👍🏻

It’s so annoying right across UA-cam right now. There must be some auto script thing that the kids run on their videos to try to retain the attention of the Tik Tok addicts.

Did u use a MotionRig ? I try my G2 some weeks ago. And it´s for me not possible ti race in VR with a MotionRig. Too mutch wobble in the Headset. I am interested if the Q3 sitting better in the face ;-)
That’s the only upgrade I really want to add to my setup next. But having said that I’ve found it to move with the original head straps from Meta even the pro version. But I do know that people who have the BoboVR head straps report good things exercising in it. They report little movement. I’ve got the new BoboVR S3 Pro head strap on its way to me so I’m keen to test this out. You could probably fix it with neckfx in assetto corsa
However, I've noticed your game seems to be lagging quite frequently. Are you aware of this issue, or have you perhaps already managed to resolve it?
Yes the game isn’t laggy it’s the editing process with CapCut that made it that way. Pretty sure it’s resolved now 🙏

It’s Assetto Corsa and AMS2 as well 👍🏻
Can any of this be accomplished with and xbox series s? In way of actual vr gaming and nit just seeing a 2d game screen inside of the quest 3 like most people are showing and calling it vr.
Like you I had a valve index, I tried a Quest 2 but the image compression via the cable was too much of a drop in comparison. So how good is the compression compared to a valve and are you using the link cable or via WiFi?
Hey I’m using the Link cable and have upped the bit rate to 950 so it looks really great compared to my Valve. Can’t get over how crystal clear it is. 👍🏻
If you have quest 3 do you need a computer or driving wheele to play or can you just use the quest and controllers
You won't be able to use the Quest controllers to drive but you should be able to use an Xbox controller if you have one. 👍🏻
Hello :) I play Assetto Corsa and I would like to get quest 3. Will my RTX 2070 super be enough?
If you can afford it purchase a RTX 4070 Super, it's really the best minimum standard for the Quest 3 at present. The RTX 2070 will work but with lower resolution and lower refresh rate. It is not really worthy of a Quest 3.😁
@@maca45 I ended up getting Pico 4, its 50% cheaper than Q3, so it was no brainer for me. Next I'll get 4070S, because I can see that 2070s is not enough for AS :/

this games on pc? I mean you connect vr with pc?
That is correct, yes 👍🏻
I'm using the official link cable and have the bandwidth at 500.
What do you have MSAA set to? Try bringing that down to Medium 👍🏻
@@thesimracingshaolinstudent I've tried it off, high, and I believe medium. I'm just wondering if it is an issue with the Quest 3.. Very distracting. Appreciate the comment!

I figure why not throw more money at the problem, right? :-) I did finally get Project Cars 2 to look somewhat decent, but I couldn't keep performance level up. I can't find any straight answers online to what I should have render resolution in Oculus Link to.. I put it at 1.5x as you recommended, but perhaps it can't handle it like a 4090 can.

Thank you! All I do is sim racing and have been using the HP Reverb G2. After a year or so of “fairly” consistent performance, the G2 is in the finicky cable mode, making it a crapshoot as to whether I’ll be racing or troubleshooting for the evening. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but Meta don't "enable" 120hz in the sim, it's already on in the Quest 3 if you've ticked the option in the settings menu. But whether or not a sim uses 120hz is up to the developer, they have to enable it within their sim, not Meta or Steam.
