As a Sooner fan, we've put up with these arrogant "tea-sippers" since the inception of the Big 12 ( being in the same conference.) Let's put this in perspective, OU owned the Big 12 with 14 titles to Texas' 4. Make no mistake about it, Oklahoma is Texas' biggest game. I don't give a damn what they say in these chat rooms. Their fans know the truth. Get used to the arrogance of Texas fans, and why? I've never figured it out? They have nothing to be arrogant about. Like you said, they aren't special.
Oklahoma has definitely had more success the last 20 years.
The truth going forward is that Texas money will start buying titles and the arrogance will be unbearable. Folks don't understand Texas money. The Rangers picked up a $ (billion) in talent offseason last season and won the Baseball Championship. Money is changing college football and Texas probably has no limit.

Didn't yalls basketball coach call out an entire team after a game last year for them doing the horns down? Dude walked up to nearly every opposing player and made sure to tell them they were "classless" and they needed to stop, it's not just "outsiders" I have seen PLENTY of Texas fans get mad over the Horns down gesture, it's so freaking soft man like that's literally crybaby level soft

He’s a 21 year old college student that gets more media coverage and scrutiny than any other quarterback except for maybe Shadeur Sanders, that has been asked the same question a thousand times before. It’s ok for a quarterback to speak confidence, and to have confidence in a team that he knows he has to lead. And Texas is one of the schools that has more of a nation wide fan base than most, so it’s no surprise that they would be more hated and on other teams’ radar.

You’re correct about every one of those teams. But for Texans. A&M will always always be their biggest game. Both of their school songs are literally about eachother. No matter who those two teams ever play they will always be eachothers biggest. Like Michigan Ohio state.
As a lifelong fan of A&M, we are not their biggest game and they always remind the fanbase of that. They refused to play A&M after the Aggies moved to the SEC and will always say OU is their biggest rival. The SEC fucked up when they admitted tu, they will find that out over time because it only gets worst from here. At this point I consider Arkansas a bigger game than the sips because the only way you can deal with those dolts is to ignore them. They know nothing of sports and talk about their history constantly because they are a mediocre program yet can't accept that.

Im a lifelong A&M fan...the school left the Big 12 because of the special treatment Texas received(allowed to have Longhorn Network generating dollars for their school only/only school allowed a network in Conference) and every major decision made on fair play went Texas' way. It is a school that thinks their name automatically gives them a reserved seat in all championships. I only am looking forward to seeing them get a dose of reality being in a league that shares revenue evenly and no one gets special treatment. There is gonna be some pouting by those spoiled uppedies in Austin!
I’d like to put this in there. I think it’s more on a CfP perspective. If you have to play your rival and you win. Right and then have to play Georgia, and or Alabama, and you loose both and then all of a sudden you have to play Texas… that could be the difference in your team making it to CFP or not. You’re talking from a fan’s perspective. The interview with Ewers was from a players perspective. Yes, Texas is going into the SEC with a lot of hype and yes, the players from other teams are circling that game for multiple reasons. New blood and to show them it’s not going to be as easy as they think are the two main reasons i can think of.
The question is, why as a fan are you so bent out of shape from his answer? That question and answer has nothing to do with the fans.

Some points on your video:
1) I think you and maybe others are confused by the comment. It wasn't referencing strength. It was referencing brand. TX has a huge fan base and an equally huge hater base. The fact that you and others are blowing out of proportion a fairly innocuous comment sort of proves his point. One concession I will make is that in the Big 12 Texas was *literally* the biggest game on every team's schedule and many try to claim TX as a rival when they are not. That particular thing won't be as relevant in the SEC so his comment is a bit off base in the sense that there are real rivalries in the SEC that will trump whatever TX brings. That being said TX will without a doubt be *one of* the biggest games on everyone's schedule because TX brings a lot of interest and everyone will want to beat TX and TX has 3 legit rivalries in the SEC and I doubt any other team has 3 serious rivalries like that. If you think anyone but TX is TAMUs biggest rival I don't think you don't know TAMU very well. lol
2) The VAST majority of fans don't care one bit about horns down. Not even sure where you and others get this. Sure there might be some that do (including Mack Brown) but the VAST majority love that TX is in everyone's head. What other team sees the equivalent of "horns down" at games they aren't even playing in?
3) If you want to talk about team strength then by all means do that but don't start your history in 2010 when TX started it's worst 10 year stretch in school history. TX has a favorable record against the vast majority of teams including the SEC (194-92 all time vs. SEC) and that includes 2-0 against Florida.
Couple things…
1.) many SEC teams have at least 3 rivals. Florida would consider UGA, LSU, Tenn and FsU rivals. Could throw Miami in there as well but we don’t play annually.
2.) I started in 2006 because my statement was that 5 SEC teams had won NCs since the last time Texas did. That’s an almost 20 year stretch, not 10.
3.) listen- most real Gator fans root for Texas because of Texas’s 1996 upset of Nebraska in the Big12 title game because that’s what sent UF to the Sugar Bowl where we won our first title. We don’t hate you. We do hate the idea that someone joining a great conference thinks their addition makes them the best team in the conference or the most talked about team in the conference. It does not.
@@uffootball You may have started in 2006 but TX also had an appearance for a natty in 2009 so while they didn't win that should count for something considering most never get that far. Beyond that your "stretch" of time is mostly made up of the post 2010 era which is the worst in school history so I think it's a bit skewed in the context of the long history of winning TX actually has. That said it is a relevant period of time because it's recent and totally valid criticism so long as you recognize the issues have been related to coaching/AD and those things have changed for the better.
Again, I don't think the comment is meant to imply TX is the best team. He was likely speaking to the point I mentioned above.. the TX brand, the huge fan base coupled with the huge hater base brings much interest to TX games. That brings lots of eyeballs and money. Much like it brings lots of eyeballs to YT videos which is why every YTuber with 50 followers is making videos about TX these days. Everybody wants to beat TX which means every team is going to be focused on that game even if it's not their biggest rival.

Claims pertaining to academic excellence are easy to resolve and they having nothing to do with rankings by U.S. Snooze and World Report. Either a university is one of the 71 members of the Association of American Universities (AAU) or they are not. Of the 16 SEC universities, there are only 5 AAU members. Florida, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Texas and Missouri.
Ali, your discussion in itself is proof that Texas is the "big deal" in the SEC this year. Lol! You wouldn't be dedicating your entire program to "trashing Texas" if Texas wasn't SPECIAL. They'll be competitive, draw huge crowds, gain many haters, and eventually develop a fan base in the deep south.
AND, they're an ALL SPORTS university. They are outstanding in ALL SPORTS. Win, lose, or draw, Texas will be fun to watch. Some folks will watch them with hate-filled passion and desire to see them get beat; some will watch them out of curiosity; and some will watch them in hopes they will bring a couple of the SEC dominating teams down to size.

Every game in the SEC is sort of a big game, this is why teams in other conferences are trying to come to the SEC, the conference is a big deal cause the teams within it made it that way and OU and Texas will benefit from the conference and the conference will benefit from both teams rich tradition, a win win for everyone

I don't think it's so much about Texas being everyone's biggest game but rather everyone hates us and wants to embarrass us. Our fan base is an arrogant, blue blood fan base and our expectations can be a bit much at times. I will disagree on one thing, we will always be A&M's biggest game. That rivalry has bad blood that goes beyond what happens on the field...it's a very toxic rivalry and you have to really experience it to understand it.

He said what most of us have been saying, that Texas will be the biggest game for teams in the SEC. And that is bc we have not played them every year since forever! All of the conference teams are excited to play Texas & Oklahoma, to travel to those stadiums and experience those environments for the 1st time!! And I think that, yes, at least this very first year, the game with Texas is a very big game! And for some, maybe the biggest...?
Being excited to play a team does not equate to that game being the biggest. It is exciting to add these two teams to the SEC, but as Ali said, they are in for a rude awakening.

What I'm hearing ... Texas is so proud to be in the SEC they're already acting like they've been here forever and are flexing their egos before they've even played a game. They are also taking their current Top 25 rankings and strutting around before ... once again ... playing a single game not to mention an entire season. So there's no freaking way that Mississippi St., Georgia, Vandy, Arkansas, Kentucky & A&M didn't circle the TEXAS game on their schedules this year... it IS a big deal the FIRST YEAR w/ the new members. The vast majority of Texas supporters are quite aware of the difficulties the SEC will present competition wise... but we are confident in our ability to compete and earn our share of respect along with our seat at the table...

Ewers is young and has always seemed a bit uncomfortable in interviews. Reporters ask leading questions looking for clickbait headlines. A lot of these kids aren’t thinking too much about their answers; they’re just trying to get through it.

Horns down all you want. It’s a fine tradition that’s almost as old as horns up. Never really came up as an issue until a Texas receiver (Mike Adams) was penalized 15 for “holstering his guns” against Tech. It went from a question of calling those things consistently to “is horns down a penalty” because some media hack would bring it up every Big XII Media Days (and apparently are already at it with Sankey).

Texas has been beating their chest about being “back” for years yet hasn’t won anything outside the big 12 once recently and lose a playoff game . Interesting comments coming from Austin as they are clearly not in the big 12 anymore and even teams like Florida , who may not be on Texas level this year still have much bigger games than Texas this year . Georgia and Tennessee , LSU to name a few considering those are rivals and Texas isn’t .

Ewers is just saying that his experience is always being the other team's biggest game, which is 100% true in Big12! With all the talk of SEC teams going to put Texas and Oklahoma in their place this season, can you blame Ewers. Your reaction makes my point. Other than a few crazy Texas fans, no one believes Texas is going to come in first year and dominate. But Texas fans are confident in their team and even the media and Vegas have us as 2nd best team.

Texas will NEVER be the best team in the SEC. We all know Georgia is ALWAYS the best team in the SEC even though I HATE the bulldogs. But saying that Texas is everyone's big game is DUMB. Georgia will ALWAYS be everyone's big game, AND Kirby Smart will ALWAYS be the best coach in the SEC AND COUNTRY. Georgia and Alabama are the top programs in the conference, and I DON'T CARE that Texas beat Bama in Tuscaloosa, Bama has MORE TITLES THAN TEXAS
A&M and Mizzou have not won the SEC since joining. Mizzou got to play in the SEC championship one time and got beat by Auburn. I expect more out of Oklahoma honestly, but Texas has been stumbling and bumbling for a while now.

Texas suffers from delusions of grandeur driven by too many oil wells and a complete lack of self-awareness. And even with all that money, they still couldn't get it done on a regular basis in the Big12. Listen lady, I speak for the majority of Texas fans. We don't give a damn about the horns down. We just love living rent free in people's heads. We could care less about this stupid subject. Again, being a female, you don't understand what "biggest game" means. Biggest game means......what game on the schedule do you circle and want to win more than any other game? It's not necessarily the rival. What game would Colorado State most want to win on their schedule? A rival Colorado who will be lucky to have a winning record or the #3 ranked Longhorns? Get Real. Michigan. Okay, yes, the only game Michigan wants to win is Ohio State but a loss at home against Texas wouldn't help their championship hopes. So the Texas game is circled along with OSU. Does UTSA and ULM have Texas circled as their biggest game? Hell yeah they do! Trust me on this, Arkansas and A&M have Texas circled as their biggest game too. And of course, OU. Nuff said. The other 5 games Miss St., Georgia, Vandy, Kentucky, and FU have Texas circled. Is it as important as those team's perspective rivals.....no. But trust me, every opponent that Texas plays this year, will have a circle on that schedule. So, to educate you. That's what he means. Is the Texas game more important to Georgia than beating a mississippi school or Kentucky or Arkansas, Florida......Absolutely. When you are one of the best teams in the country, everybody wants a piece of you. So understand the comment before making your assessment. I detect jealousy because since Tebow left, you guys have struggled to be .500. So, continue to enjoy your mediocrity because the SEC just got a whole lot tougher. To give you something that's gonna sting a little, and let's be REAL for a second. Here it is. Texas will be minimum of 9-3 and that's with injuries and the ball bouncing a bad direction for us. 9-3 at least but a very good chance of 10-2 and possibly 11-1. Is this something we will do every year? No. But the Texas team for 2024 is a better roster than last year's team that went to the playoff. Texas is loaded for 2024 plus it helps that they have a soft schedule. Georgia will be tough, Arkansas on the road, Michigan on the road, A&M on the road. But guess what, moving to the SEC just opens up more recruiting opportunities for Texas that we have never had. Sark is already getting top blue chip recruits out of Florida now. So there it is.....At least 9-3 but possibly 11-1. To go undefeated would be tough since we have michigan on the road and Georgia. Can't win both of those.
