✨💫✨ I remembered you said you weighed every single thing, so I did so, too. I never knew balsamic vinegar- not even the creamy one - had so many calories and these things add up. It has made so much difference., learning what a difference portion size makes.
Now, in maintenance, I find myself preparing smaller portions and telling myself I can go back for more if it‘s not enough, instead of eating double the amount, because it‘s delicious and on my plate.
The knowledge that I can buy clothes in this size and they will continue to fit feels like I have a superpower.
Thank God I clicked on that halfofcarla video last year. I say that every day. 💫✨💫❤️😘❤️

One of the things I noticed recently that could be an accidental sabotage sort of like you spoke about in point 1-make sure when you look at your portion sizes that you’re not going by the volume listed but by grams. I realized the bread I was eating has all different sizes for slices and so they are not all the same calories, even though a “slice” was a portion. I was under-counting bread until I realized I needed to weigh each slice to see what the calories were. I have noticed this with a few other foods since then, that the volume listed did not match the weight in grams consistently.

Every single thing that goes in my mouth gets measured/weighed and counted, no exceptions. Planning every meal the day before and writing it in my daily food diary (with the calories totalled) keeps me on track. It’s something I learned through a weight loss group years ago. I always appreciate all your tips, thank you🥰💖!!

I’ve never counted cooking oil or gummy vitamins. Just stay 1-200 calories below my limit to accommodate. Feels better for my mental health lol

@@PancakeEnthusiast342 cooking oils, dressings, and the like have been the few items that have in the past always put me in a calorie surplus and it wasn’t until I counted everything that I realized this. I do eat healthy fats daily, but I can easily rack up the extra calories if I don’t track.

Thank you so much Carla. I also work well with the notion of a seven day per week commitment, mostly because I am wired toward addiction/compulsion with certain foods and beverages.
While I understand that moderation works for some people, there are certain foods I’ve had to give a strict “no” to, as I will crave them repeatedly once the Pandora’s box is open. For me, these are coffee, alcohol, chips, and ice cream.
As a trade-off, I’ll pre-schedule treat days for foods that I find delicious, but don’t trigger the compulsion. I’ll get a vegetarian Thai dinner once per week that I split over two days, then sushi for lunch on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Great video Carla!!! I'm nearly finished first cycle of BS absolutely love the program, however I had no been weighing/tracking my veggies as a previous coach (PT) I worked with ages ago (I didn't lose weight) had advised me that no point as they usually amount to very little. You make a very good point IL start doing that from today!! X

I will say here in the us, it's so easy to over eat because our portions when we go out are either huge, or, it's smaller but so calorie dense it's crazy. The USA adds sugar to everything !

I'm actually enjoying weight watchers because I don't have to count veggies, however the other stuff like sauces tends to have higher points

I've started having a 99% sugar free chai tumeric latte. It's so good and only 39 calories.
I also count my oil now. I didn't for years and wondered why I wasnt losing weight. Low and behold it was because I was over my calorie limit because of the oil.
I also never count my exercise because its so off on my calorie counting app I use.
I also weigh myself on a Thursday and a Sunday. Sometimes I feel like weighing myself on other days.

I make my own cold Cafe Mocha using 2 scoops Chocolate Protein Powder, 1scoop Nonfat dry milk, 1 scoop instant coffee, cinnamon & sweetener to taste into 20 oz water. 185 cals/24g. Protein. A Starbucks Venti ((24oz) Iced Caffe Mocha is 450 cals/18g. Protein. That gives me the choice of having a calorie deficit or eating 1/2 bagel with 1 Tbsp PB (6g. Pro. for 30 g total Protein!).⭐🌟💫💃

Such a great video as always!! 💫 🌟💫 I did have a question about changing your clothing style after you reach your goal weight. Did you gradually change your style each time you had to buy new (smaller) clothes or did you wait until the final weight loss goal to change your style. Just curious because I’ve lost 19 lbs so far and had to buy smaller clothes. But I’m still dressing in the same style. I love the idea of changing my style to reflect the drastic change in my weight. The one item of clothing I vow to never wear again after I reach my goal is a zip up, hooded sweat shirt. For years and years I used that type of clothing as a security blanket for being so over weight. Letting it go will be a huge reflection of the lifestyle changes I’ve made.

✴✴✴ thank you for all the guidance, Carla! Been watching your channel for a few weeks now, but finally taking action off of your advice. I haven't calorie counted in about a decade, but I've been struggling to lose a recent 10 pound gain that puts me in an uncomfortable place of my weight maintenance. I'm ready to re-teach myself how much to eat during the day, and be much more proactive to my diet and lifestyle.

🌠🌟 #TeamLucozadePinkZero FOR THE WIN!!! I Literally buy cans of these from Amazon, so I can have one every day, because it's a lovely little pink, fizzy, hit, that tells me I've had something sweet, but doesn't affect my BG/insulin levels. And ordering them online, thus getting 6 x boxes of six = 36 cans delivered right to my door, is a lot easier than trying to haul them through town, lol. I knew you'd be on my Pink Lucozade Zero team! 🥳 💖
I eat totally different from you because I eat low-carb, high protein & small amounts of saturated fats, dairy & nuts, with salad greens and non-starchy veg on the side. (FYI: I am absolutely NOT remotely trying to convince you to do what I do, but it's interesting that for most people who think about going keto or eating low-carb, they tend not to realise that portion control is still incredibly important - especially in those who have obliterated or just lost the connection between their food consumption and their hunger/satiety cues. They're all ghrelin, no leptin, and need to relearn how to mitigate any previously incurred damage to their cues, if they're ever going to be able to follow any plan, be it keto, Atkins, Bodyslims, Weight Watchers, or just basic CICO math.)
Too many people try to eat low carb (or VLC like me) and assume that they eat liberally of all their "permitted" foods, not understanding that a non disordered eater might well know when to stop eating a steak and salad...once they feel food. But a chronic overeater who is trying to lose weight through keto, cannot just hoover up everything in sight because the food itself was an "approved food". Y'all can over-eat on anything. Granted, it's much easier to do so with soft fluffy cakes, or HFCS riddled ultra-processed, hyper-palatable garbage. But a person with damaged hunger cues will eat enough steak and salad to feed a family of 5, because they have no internal off-switch.
This is one of the reasons that I think so many people have such poor results eating this way. Low-carb/keto is sold as a magic bullet that will require little to no effort. But just as with any approach, diet, or plan, you need to keep track of your caloric intake, as well as your carbs. You need to be willing to change the way you eat, the things you eat, the relationship you have with what you eat, and the amount you eat. But so many people hear about the benefits of reduced appetite, being able to eat pounds of bacon & cheese, investigate very little, lose very little, leave their hunger cues unaddressed and then kick off at someone like me who has been doing this healthfully and successfully for years....telling me it doesn't work!
GRRR!! This infuriates me. The misinformation, the lack of intellectual curiosity, the miracle narrative of this being a magical way to lose weight with no hunger and discomfort...all that chatter brings people to this WOE with the wrong expectations, ill prepared for what they're going to have to address in themselves, as well as the lifetime commitment to measuring your food for most probably the rest of your life, because the amount you'll need over time as you age, lose weight, become less active, etc, mean your TDEE will change, so your intake to maintain that weight or keep it dropping will change. You ARE going to have to get boringly obsessed with knowing the nutritional value of things. You're going to have to read nutritional panels that don't apply to what you just ate, by converting the calorie and carb amounts, manually. This is not a magic wand, it's a lifelong readjustment to your self awareness and your willingness to stay the course because your health is what matters most at the end of the day.
But all of that is deeply unsexy. Not glamourous, or Instagrammable. Not immediate, or low effort. I don't care how you plan on losing weight, but there are not healthy magic bullets. Knuckle down and accept that this discomfort is a step on the road to a healthier happier you.
Sorry for hijacking your comments section there Carla, i just have a lot of set-to's with people who think they've "done keto...and it failed" because it drives me insane. Of course it's not for everyone, but it's useful for many people, and slating it does no favours to the people it could potentially help. if only they weren't scared off by the flighty, lazy creatures who wanted a magic pill and didn't want to have to count and track every calorie and carbohydrate. Worse things happen at sea folks. Staying strong and not allowing carb or calorie creep to slip back in when you're not paying attention means being forever vigilant. Sure it can get a little easier over time as things become second nature to us and we can recite the nutritional panels of everything in our pantry. But the wee dark sleekit beastie who lives on our shoulder and occasionally whispers terrible ideas of temptation or abandoning a diet or going off plan because you got fired and want to binge....that wee beastie always needs to be tamed and never ignored.
Loved the chat Carla, and very much loved the starry dress (I swear I'd steal your wardrobe if I was strong enough to carry it all, lol!) Beautiful as always. 🌟 ⭐ Love, Bex xx (Who has been switching out her pumpkin spiced coffee for sugar free syrup and a dash of sugar free creamer on occasion. #BasicBishBeverages
