You're the only youtuber I'm aware of that focuses SO MUCH on the mental health aspect of weight loss (and trust me, I follow many). It adds an incredible amount of value to your videos and to the lives of those you're changing. I think doing the inner work is crucial for long term weight loss and lifestyle change. Thank you from this therapist who also lost a lot of weight.
Mental health and our journey are very important. I had surgery, NOTHING WAS WORKING! I'm down 110 lbs., in February it will be 3 years, my Dr Du's team focus on mental health. This procedure is a tool, like diet, exercise... and planning...let's not forget planning.
⚖️. After 15 years I kept 160 pounds off then life happened lost best friend (my brother) lost my mom. Then in the same year I found out 🤬!!!!! And I’ve gained 30 pounds. Those 160 were so much easier to lose!!! You really are a God sent. I’m great full you didn’t let those heaters break you down!!! Thank you for ALL your words and support through your words and actions.
Sometime I have problem hear what smiley you want. So I just write here. I started to cry when you talked about the value of me as a human being. I am very emotional today, I think.
This post was VERY helpful to me. I gained 4-5 pounds on maintenance and thought I was on my way of getting fat again. It's good to hear that fluctuation is a normal part of maintenance.
Carla, I can't even tell you exactly how amazing you are! You have given me, first the hope, and now the knowledge, that I too can do what you have accomplished! My starting weight was similar to yours. Inspired by you, I started counting calories and walking. Then I joined BodySlims. I went from wishing I could lose weight and get fit to being well on my way. The hardest hurdle for me is over, the head stuff. Now I know I will never go back. I still have a long way to go, but the positive changes are so huge that going back is the equivalent of entering a horror movie for me! It was worse than I thought it was at the time! How could I have let myself get to that point? Comparatively calorie counting and walking is easy, and to think that once I get to maintenance, I"ll get to eat more! For the most part I'm happy on the weight loss amount of calories! I've noticed my taste buds enjoying the natural food textures and tastes. I eat very few highly processed foods now and when I do, I notice how, many times they taste and feel fake on my tongue. Some things actually have a plasticy mouth feel! The mental aspect of weight loss is probably the biggest thing. I've known what to do forever, I just couldn't get myself to do it. With the help of you, your videos and BodySlims, I think I've finally got it figured out. I am eternally grateful to you!❤ You, my dear, are a Rock Star!
Watching from Branson, MO, USA! In 1959 a 100 lb first grader was a real oddity. Unfortunately, the obesity rate in the US today makes is less so. At any rate, I was always a large child...taller than my 3rd grade teacher. In high school, I rode horses, played field hockey, basketball and volleyball but remained considerably overweight. After years, of yo-yoing up and down a 50 lb range, I addressing the issue again. Thank you for sharing your journey and your stories. I'm now 70. Retirement from full-time employment into a season of recreation with my husband and our children/grandchildren is still years away. But, I want to be ready. I can be ready. I will be ready. And I'm tuning in to you!
so true about the scales not being your friend, they used to make me so depressed and therefore eat so now i only go by clothes and i'm now 100 consecutive days into an hour's walk every morning and it just sets you up for the day , you are such an inspiration, love your fashion too.
I had a 💩work week. I'm a nurse. More death and disease than normal. My 'soup' was not good. Didn't walk. I should have as that's my best therapy. I'm thinking there may be other health professionals out there that can relate. As has become my norm, I turned to your video today to bring me back and help me reset. TY so much for your bravery⚖
Hi Carla, Listening from BC Canada. Still loosing weight, down 42 pounds and so proud of myself. Thank you for all your kind and wise words. You are an inspiration 😘⚖️🇨🇦🖤
⚖💜 I think the thing that surprises me most, in a state of maintenance, is how "hungry" my body is for my walk! I had to skip two days in a row this week because of the smoke coming down from the Canadian fires and I'm PRAYING that I can walk tomorrow morning. It truly feels like a miracle!
I lost 70 pounds last year and was maintaining well…until I broke my leg in December. Now I have 20 pounds that I’m struggling with - where is my weight loss mojo? Ugh…thanks for keeping on and being such great inspiration! ⚖️
@@HalfofCarla Lol I’m good, still re-habbing, mixing walking with biking and strength training. Enjoying trying more plant-based foods (again, thanks for the inspo!) You’re amazing Carla, sending you lots of positive vibes for your happiness bank!!! 💕🖤💕🖤
⚖️⚖️⚖️ I am over 12 years post VSG (gastric sleeve) - triumphantly got to goal, maintained a healthy BMI for three years with a mixture of lifestyle and diet change and being immersed in the weight loss surgery community. Then I drifted from that community, that lifestyle, that mindset and approach to diet and regained all but 12 lbs of my lost weight over the following 8 years …. Five weeks post VSG I was alarmed to realise I could still eat unlimited amounts of pizza and ice-cream if I chose but could barely get any veggies down. So ironically I had to do all the work I would have had to do without the surgery anyway, focusing on calorie deficit and nutrition, resisting the binges and the sweet and slider foods , power walking every day, - I transformed physically but by not addressing my core issues I put all that in peril. Focusing from the inside out this time - with you leading the way! Working on maintenance between BodySlims programmes - which means embracing my demons not running away from them. Gotta stop the 🙈🙉🙊😅.
Hello, I'm following you from Lincoln, Nebraska, in the US. I want to thank you for being so frank about how you lost the weight and what you are doing to maintain! I am signed up for the September 20h session of Bodyslims and I'm so excited and pretty nervous. I have 160 lbs to lose. I'm so glad to have found you! Your advice and tips are priceless and I will refer back to your channel probably daily throughout my journey. ❤⚖️
Thank you for your common sense lists of food and diets. I am in Texas. I do not need to lose many pounds but your life advice is so important!! You remind me to respect myself and also to make time for fun.
G'day Carla from a sunny winters day in Perth, Western Australia. ⚖️ Thank you for continuing to provide such positivity. I have been successfully maintaining my weight and revised lifestyle since reaching my goal in October 2019. And I feel so totally blessed ❤
Timing is everything 🙌💞 I got home from a two week break away visiting my family and picked up a cold on the plane. I've reverted back to my old habits when I'm poorly and have no energy.... ordering take away. Telling myself that since getting to the sink to fill my water glass is draining, I don't have the energy to eat well. It's been four days and I'm now thinking that maybe I still feel crap (aside from the illness), because I'm eating crap. ⚖️ Is needed in my life right now. Can't thank you enough for your video Carla 🙏💓
Thank you Carla. I appreciate you. I needed to hear tip #8. I have lost 100 pounds. I want to lose more. Issues have come up from my past. I am trying to show compassion to myself. The weight is not coming off and it is not going back on. I am working on issues that are painful. If you did it, I have hope that I can do it too. Thank you for sharing your journey. God bless you.💪❤😊👍🙌
Hi Carla! I adore your channel 💜 I learned the hard way about the scale being in the same spot ☺️ your advice made me teary that we are more than our physical appearance. I guess I needed it today.
⚖️ I appreciate your inputs so much, Carla! Today, I stopped to eat as I've been full before the plate had been cleared. I am so proud I did feel that, that I could stop and could sit in front of the plate for some more minutes without feeling any urge to continue to eat 😊.
⚖️ Hi, Carla I watching from southeast of Kansas City MO 🇺🇸. Thanks for helping me to do my walking 🚶♀️ better. I worked at the airbase in MO. Lots of the women that had military husbands has had weight loss surgery. I assume the insurance pays most of it. I was told that lot of these women gained their weight back. I lost weight b/c I had pneumonia. I had no appetite. I’m trying by best to keep it off. I like what you said about having a weight range to stay in. ⚖️
Hey Carla. Thankyou for another amazing video. I’m 24 pounds down with a fair way to go , but I’m keeping on going. Your videos help so much because you keep it real and walk the talk. Big love to you from the New Forest in Hampshire. ⚖️ xx
Congratulations 🎉 I love the fact you speak a lot about your mental health. I've said to my primary care doctor that I know I could lose this extra 100 lbs if I got my head right. I can't wait for Sept and BodySlims.
Going to start trying for baby number two next month, and unfortunately I will still be overweight, and will have to wait a long time to finish losing again. It is definitely good to keep these kind of things in mind about what to do for weight maintenance once I do eventually get there, though! I will also keep eating healthy once I do get pregnant, but it will be hard for me going back to eating at maintenance before I’m even where I want to be with my weight.
Hi Carla, I want to thank you for sharing your journey with everybody. Because of you I discover Body Slims. I signed for the program in April this year. I loved it. I recover my sense of well being after a few weeks in it. By the end of the programme i lost 19 lbs and signed up for the next programme in September to continue my own journey. you were my Brianna. God bless you.
⚖️ well said, Carla. Love the soup analogy! I’m watching from NH, USA and I’m so glad I found you last year for the intro to BS. 💜 I’m with the crowd of folks who consider you their Brianna 🖤 one more round for me (#4) to hit DTD. So sad to miss the stateside visit - I’ll be on holiday. Thank you for showing up for us, too. 🖤
Love your videos, Carla! And the concept of us having our own “soup”. I naturally eat less on days I weight train. 🤷🏻♀️ My guess is for me it’s a mental health thing. Like I feel really good after training so I’m not turning to food as on days I do not. But only a guess!
Hi Carla, I love your videos. I have lost 42 pounds so far, and I am doing it by tracking my calories and trying to get a decent amount of exercise (walking and swimming). I can't walk an hour a day, yet, but I hope to work up to it (I do swim for an hour or two at a time). Thanks very much for including a message of acceptance and affirmation. We can be so hard on ourselves and take so much abuse from others, as well, and it's important to know we are valuable and don't deserve any abuse from anyone.
⚖️ Great topic. I think maintenance is such a important thing to think about on your journey down the scale. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences
Because of my weight loss (and your videos have been invaluable) I have just had my first knee replacement surgery. I'm doing well and I'm maintaining my weight loss mind set. Hope to lose a little more before the 2nd surgery. I am hoping to be down 90# by Christmas. Can't believe I got down low enough for the surgeries. Looking forward to being able to continue my walks pain-free. Thanks for all your encouragement. Oh, I don't know where the balance scales are to leave you.
⚖️ Thank you for sharing Carla! My last 20 lbs is taking forever to get off and I’m ready to be in maintenance already 😅 but all these tips/reminders are so helpful! 🖤🖤🖤
⚖️ Beautiful Girl, you always talk common sense. The weightloss phase is simple but not easy, says I who continuosly yoyo's however what I have observed about those in maintenance is, and you hit it right on the head, is the key principles you use to lose weight is how you maintain it. Hard to hear but true. Lifestyle change from habits & actions and a personalised soupy combo and you are walking, talking proof of that 🖤
⚖️thank you for this video💖. I just got home from a 2 week holiday and I am feeling terrible about a 10 pound weight gain. I am catching up with your videos I missed, always motivating and inspiring 🥰
Carla, you are beautiful inside and out. Thank you for your candor. Your words of encouragement and reslistic journey are so valuable. You are greatly appreciated! ❤
Thank you so much for sharing everything and focusing on mental health. I have watched numerous videos from you and I feel like I'm finally able to dive into my mental health and see how it correlates to my food codependancy
New to the channel and really enjoying it! I've been plus size my whole life, but was very active when I was younger. I wanted to get back to feeling fit and strong and started training for my first tri this year. I decided to start eating more consciously to fuel my fitness goals. Just a few weeks out from race day, and weight is falling off. Excited to see where else this new level of fitness and healthier body can take me!
Vancouver Island BC Canada. Love your story and how realistic it is. I need to get on the scale regularly because when i dont my i go into denial.....wear stretchy clothes so i dont get feedback that things are increasing....until a signicant gain occurs that seems so hard to tackle. I weigh once a week now. I have my chat with myself..'its only information, whatever the number is i will deal with it'....then carry on. I also make sure i wear nonstretchy clothes frequently to get that important feedback. I believe since the invention of stretchy jeans and lulu lemon etc....we are having a harder time with weight management!!! One can gain 10 15 lbs before even realizing it!!!!!
Carla, I came across one of your videos last month. Then I stared searching for more videos which led me to the video that Gerard posted of one of his group classes (turning right). I felt strongly that this was what I needed to do and signed up for the September class. I have continued to watch your videos and thank you so much for what you do. Patti
Hi Carla , that was a great chat how to stay in check with continuing on with the ebb & flow of body maintenance. I got 2 consecutive bodyslims courses done and goin into another coming September I just want to stay in because I enjoy it so much why ruin a good thing 😂 😅 listening to Ger learning dance moves with Sharon and of course your pep & tip talks You are such an interesting inspiring person ❤ I think of you givin my gratitudes your advice to lay out walking gear and get out before the devil knows your up luv it sayin to self every morning to fill my cup first to be the best person I can be to give back good in my daily day love you Carla 😊
I also watched recently watched your fashion video on youtube TV app about style while losing weight, and I LOVED that too! I will be digging into your fashion videos, next ⚖
@@HalfofCarla I was in Tesco yesterday with my sister and I was eyeing up a tray of iced donuts, she turned around to me and said “now that you have reached your goal weight you can eat that tray of donuts for your lunch”, I turned around and said yes Emma I can have a donut as I’ll work it into my day but not to eat the whole dam tray! People just don’t get it, they think that now you have reached target you can eat what ever you want to, err no I can’t as I’ll be back to where I started 🙄, just because you’ve reached your dream weight does not mean you are done, the hard work never stops, rant over 🤣
⚖️ thank you so much Carla for your focus on the mental health aspect of the weight-loss journey. I live in the north east region of the United States, and I am 24 stone. And have been all my life except for a short period of time where I was in a very difficult organization for the dis-ease of excessive weight. I look forward to starting Body Slims in September and finding a therapist to help with the journey. I’ve even considered changing Jobs to Show up for myself
⚖️ fabulous advice and tips especially your last point I really value your knowledge and am extremely grateful that you share it so generously, I feel blessed that I have you for advice and support in maintenance and fair play to you for maintaining without that advice , I was extremely nervous about the ability to maintain until I heard you once saying, I’m not going to go back to that weight as I’m not the same person and suddenly it clicked, I’m not going to waste my time fearing the future instead I’m going to spend my time shaping it, my present 🎁, my day Thank you for all your incredible content, you are an incredible hard working and dedicated person, 💗💗💗(Joanne)
I was looking for a video you might have posted on maintenance. I never used to have issues with maintenance, I always stayed at whatever weight I was, in some respects stuck at the same weight, unable to even lose 1kg. I still need to lose about 10kg to be back to 65kg and 6kg to be back to the normal weight range. So I don't need to deal with it yet, but I've noticed, either I lose weight or I gain weight. If I eat 3 meals, I gain, if I eat 2 and fast, I lose. I've tried eating something low calorie, if it's too low, lika a snack, lose, if too many put on! I might actually have to start counting calories for that third meal. I have changed. When I work the staff room can have doughnuts and cookies to eat, in the past I'd make a coffee and eat maybe 3 cookies. Sometimes I just wouldn't stop eating, even when I'd had enough. Now I can eat 1 doughnut and stop, or break a bit of a cookie and pull a face and give the rest to my husband to finish. So I think I've changed my habits. I'm starting to not like overly sweet food, I prefer savory now. I'd rather have a healthy meal than snacky food. Sounds like from what you say, I'm gonna figure it out. Congrats getting the baby weight off, must be a relief to be back to what you were again.
If you're incorporating strength training now, I'd love a video about how a person can get enough protein if they're vegan or plant based. I find that unfortunately vegan protein options have significantly less protein than the "real thing," so I need to eat more calories to get my protein. And since I'm still trying to lose weight (currently 159, want to lose about 10-15 more pounds), that makes losing it a bit more difficult.
I didn't know where else to ask this question, so I chose this video to ask. Did you ever get to the point where you didn't want to be seen at all by anyone? I'm feeling so terrible about myself that I don't go outside if I don't absolutely have to. I don't go get my mail or take garbage to the curb until after dark. I'm so thankful I work from home. I am registered for the BodySlims program in September and I'm both super excited and scared to death. I got an exercise bike so I can work out at home. Any advice you could give for someone feeling this way?
I messed up on eating the way I used to eat before. I had lost 120 lbs over 2 years and kept it off for 5 years and gained 60 lbs back over 3 years. Damn.
I'd love to walk for an hour a day. But at the moment I'm only managing about 20 mins. I always think of you about having to do 1 hour. However I am hoping that something is better than nothing.... I know I'll get there
When I started out I couldn't make it to the end of my street without stopping to catch my breath. Fast forward 6 months and I'm down 40 lbs via calorie deficit, intermittent fasting (I just don't eat breakfast), and walking. I walk every other day now. I'm not likely to every walk an hour a day bc I get very anxious at about the 40 minute mark. I live on a mountain so even my 30 minute walks are worthy. My point is, you'll get there if you keep going. Go when you don't want to. Go when the weather is bad. Just go🚶♀aaaaand when you feel yourself drifting watch a Carla video🖤

You are amazing. Are you still plant based? Can you share one day of your meals please 🖤
⚖️ Great topic. I think maintenance is such a important thing to think about on your journey down the scale. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences
From NL Canada ⚖️ 15lbs away from goal-showing up for myself in every way ❤
Because of my weight loss (and your videos have been invaluable) I have just had my first knee replacement surgery.
Hello Carla! You’ve been my inspiration this year! I’ve lost 18 lbs on BodySlims!
⚖️ Thank you for sharing Carla! My last 20 lbs is taking forever to get off and I’m ready to be in maintenance already 😅 but all these tips/reminders are so helpful! 🖤🖤🖤
⚖️ Hello from California. Love every one of your videos! Thanks Carla! ❤
The only channel I have notifications for. You are so lovely and I have learned so much in every video. ⚖️
Watching from Toronto Canada . I am 90 lbs down .. love you
Carla, you are beautiful inside and out. Thank you for your candor. Your words of encouragement and reslistic journey are so valuable. You are greatly appreciated! ❤
Love your content, just started walking this week! Watching from Indiana, USA! ❤️
⚖ love the way you have been able to find balance in enjoying life while still incorporating things that worked for you for weight loss.
Thank you so much for sharing everything and focusing on mental health. I have watched numerous videos from you and I feel like I'm finally able to dive into my mental health and see how it correlates to my food codependancy
🖤🖤🖤
Hi Carla, I just wanted to share that your videos give me a lot to think about as I review my past and consider my future, many thanks.
⚖️ I have been following you for a long time here in Washington state, USA. I look forward to every video. You are always such an inspiration. ❤❤❤
Thank you Gena xx
⚖️ thank you for another fabulous video!! Watching you from Iowa in US ❤
New to the channel and really enjoying it!
That's fantastic, good luck in your race xx
Watching from South Africa. Love your videos! Thank you so much!
I needed this, I am working on my weight loss, and was really scared, for the maintaining part, but you just set my mind at ease! Thanks 🥰
I'm delighted! I have an entire playlist about maintenance so it might help you xx
Love this Video ❤
Great info Carla especially the last place you lost from 😮
⚖️
Carla, I came across one of your videos last month. Then I stared searching for more videos which led me to the video that Gerard posted of one of his group classes (turning right). I felt strongly that this was what I needed to do and signed up for the September class. I have continued to watch your videos and thank you so much for what you do. Patti
Thank you for the balanced and helpful advice 😊
Thank you, Carla. ⚖️❤️

You are so incredibly kind, thank you so much xx
Thank you so much for your videos! I am glad you are still making them! They are a blessing! From California with love!🖤

Thank you for sharing. ♥️ The idea finding the soup that works is great! ⚖️ Glorious vessel not to fill with crap 😅- love it!
I loved this video! The topics you cover feel so original and authentic. I am glad you are on this platform :)
I also watched recently watched your fashion video on youtube TV app about style while losing weight, and I LOVED that too! I will be digging into your fashion videos, next ⚖

Thanks so much Lucy xx
Great video Carla ⚖

⚖️ Thank you for sharing your experiences Carla 💕
⚖️ fabulous advice and tips especially your last point
I really value your knowledge and am extremely grateful that you share it so generously, I feel blessed that I have you for advice and support in maintenance and fair play to you for maintaining without that advice , I was extremely nervous about the ability to maintain until I heard you once saying, I’m not going to go back to that weight as I’m not the same person and suddenly it clicked, I’m not going to waste my time fearing the future instead I’m going to spend my time shaping it, my present 🎁, my day
Thank you for all your incredible content, you are an incredible hard working and dedicated person, 💗💗💗(Joanne)
Lovely video! ⚖️
⚖️Love your wisdom!💚
⚖️. Balance is so important! ❤❤
Do not ignore the scales! They tell the truth.
⚖️ great tips!
⚖️Love your videos!
⚖️ Good Video 😊
⚓ No scales emoji on my phone but here is an anchor to anchor the video content in my head. 🖤
Does the bodyslim programme teach you about maintenance when you finish the 10 weeks
Yes x
Thanks for the reply, finding your videos really helpful ❤
