I saw this when I was 11. Our school acquired Apple computers in 1983. I was learning to program in a gifted class...3rd grade.. BASIC, COBOL. A radio station had a call-in contest. We had a super-fast redial button! I won tickets and my older sister took me to the theater. It was great on the big screen. Unforgettable. I re-watched it yesterday at 50 with our son. Hello AI! I was a little creeped out by Mikes. Why did he lie to her at first? Awkward insecure...but, a good heart.
HA HA HA I was in the gifted program '83, too! Except we had to learn BASIC on TRS-80s.....I hated it, thought it was SO boring....might've been better off I'd stuck with it....good times, the eighties were the BEST time to grow up!
After listening to the song Love Is Love, I watched the American movie Electric Dreams which is released in 1984. Brilliant science fiction and urban romantic light comedy, Virginia Madsen looks gorgeous (My dreaming western lover should be? ^^) The Duel is also the original music of George Lam's Numerical Life. The ending song Together in Electric Dreams touches me a lot, friends don't know each other, meeting on Internet (Electric World), what a conception!
This is one of my favorite movies that very few people watched or even knew existed. This version of Lovers Concerto is kinda off beat, but a nice listen. About once a year I pull it out watch it. It always brings a smile to my face and brightens my day.

Ah, Virginia Madsen where I fell in love with her. (so did many people) fell in love with the cello after watching this Giorgio Moroder the genius music man

YES!! Was rewatching this last night and thinking the exact same thing. I was 16 years old when this movie came out and was in awe of what Edgar could do, things that now we take for granted as Alexa turns off all our lights, and our desktop computers are more powerful than 20 Edgar 'Pinecone' computer. But I'd go back to what society was back in the 80's in a millisecond. It may not have seemed amazing at the time, but considering what society has become now due in great part to technology, I'd say it was glorious back then. Who knew?!
Its beautiful. Every song that recycles Minuet in G maj / Canon in G is amazing no matter what decade or genre. Wish I was back there right now. My time.
This was just one of those films that inspired ...I was already giving concerts experimenting with live computers ( Atari ha ha) with live grand piano but this piece just became an obsession ..loved it so much and has featured on quite a few of my albums since.....just fantastic and the whole film takes me back to being 18 and studying music and living in London and having a ball in the 80s :) 😊

Favorite scene of the movie, the awesome upbeat music & camera movements are in perfect harmony :)
Amazing soundtrack.... Still listening to it 40 years on ... And Virginia Madsen was so adorable ❤
This is one of my favorite movies, this is one of my favorite parts of the movie, Electric Dreams is a great love story. Virginia Madison is absolutely gorgeous, I still can remember the first time I watched the movie, and the movie fits me since I am a computer technician.
I've been looking for this piece of music for over 20 years it was so mesmerizing to me as a kid how artificial technology could mimic a classic song.❤ I'm so happy somebody put it up. And I had such a crush on Virginia Madsen she could cry like no other actress😢
Still one of the most underrated movies ever made.
some would say it is impossible to not cry to this!
The Duel is also the original music of George Lam's Numerical Life.
The ending song Together in Electric Dreams touches me a lot, friends don't know each other, meeting on Internet (Electric World), what a conception!
Virginia Madsen is so beautiful!
Felix Ng I love that twitch of her nose and maybe a chuckle... Would love to know the story behind it.
Had a crush on her back in the days. Still like her very much :)
WAS........
She is absolutely stunning in Dune 1984. She should have focused on playing period roles as a princess or royalty as she has a timeless look.
@@hp9mm still is, almost forty years later.
This is one of my favorite movies that very few people watched or even knew existed. This version of Lovers Concerto is kinda off beat, but a nice listen. About once a year I pull it out watch it. It always brings a smile to my face and brightens my day.
Many more people remember this movie and how the movie was refreshingly nice and sad at the same time.
This predates that 2013 Joaquin Phoenix -She movie
Love it. Always look at thrift shops. It's expensive new!
I know this movie. I remember it being on tv the first time when I was 11. I taped it, and watch it to death for 6 months. It cheered me up starting high school, and of course I fell in love with Madelane too.
I hope you have a lot more lies & comments
Excellent and creative duet! Filled with love and life!
We sooo need something like this movie now !!
Little did she know that she was talking to Skynet in the process of attaining self-awareness. :)
Except that Edgar commits suicide at the end of the movie.
@@edwinfrydendall6274 you must be blasting at parties.
@@silviakunaballero8610 Actually Edger destroys his "physical form" and basically lives in some sort of early 80's type of internet form, proababl bouncing around from server to server. Arpanet? Anyway, we know this because he dedicates the title song to them at the end.
One of my all-time favorite movies!!!!
Neat
oh i love this year.i was 16.1984 what a year.the early eighties were fantastic time.synth pop rules.i drive a 1980s style car.made in 92 .a 940 volvo.they kept the eigthies styling .way into the 90s.the cars ,films ,music.this era ,will never die ,in my mind, just like the 70s.the eighties are forever ,in electric dreams😍😍😍😍
Such a good movie... A hidden gem for so many people
Virginia Madsen, beautiful.I love this movie 'Electric Dreams'.RIP Lenny Von Dohlen.I love 80's era.
I remember this so many years ago when the film came out - I was 19 yrs old - can't tell you want the film was about (think it had something to do with a shy guy that spends all his time on computers and a neighbour who played the cello) but one thing I do remember 40 years after it came out was this iconic piece of music - at the time, in a great big cinema with surround sound, I thought it was so beautiful - and though I've heard more music just as beautiful - it says something that this scene stayed with me for over 40 years 🙂
The 80s music is the best The music brings so much joy and happiness Anyone who listens to the 80s music will know Enjoy!
Virginia Madsen is beautiful. And what a wonderfully happy smile!
Princess Irulan.
That "nose scrunch" as though she didnt quite hit the right note, is cute.
@@gorillaaudude, that "nose scrunch" drives me wild!
Ah, Virginia Madsen where I fell in love with her. (so did many people)
fell in love with the cello after watching this
Giorgio Moroder the genius music man
Love this movie, I grew up on it. This duet was the first melody I learnt to play by ear on piano, nowadays I can play full songs just by listening to them a few times
She’s really beautiful, then and now.❤️
great film and great soundtrack, thank you for triggering the emotions again
Aaaah! This takes me back to my childhood. 😊😍
The soundtrack for this movie was *INCREDIBLE!*
good clip, bring back my memory. those days ... my Apple II ...
Loved this movie forever. Just wish it had occurred to me to learn music earlier. Still, not too late...
I fell in love with this film the first time I saw it. The soundtrack is awesome.
listen from the beginning, anyone who reads this comment but not too long @2:12, is my favorite part! everyone born after the 6/4/1991 should appreciate this classic from the 80's.
I am crying. I was a computer science major freshman when I watched this movie...
Can you imagine? This movie predicted Alexa, Siri and every other app that can listen to you and respond.
Who knew?!
Terminator, War Games, yeah there were some good flicks that predicted the power of AI
Sorry just watched again (popped up on feed) , I'm still 56 and she's still Gorgeous. 80's films rock.
I love love this movie!! "Electric Dreams" 🤩
November 2024 & I’m still loving this film & song ❤❤
I’m 45 and my mother to this day calls me Moles because of this movie. It was one of our favorites.
The best scene i watch when i was young. I was a secondary school student. good old days...
I played so many instruments in high school. The one that I never did but I always loved was the cello. I saw this movie and I died inside.
I've just realised I've commented on this vid 4 times over the years, I'm 56 next month and she's still Gorgeous.
I remember this song and this movie almost 40 years
Its beautiful. Every song that recycles Minuet in G maj / Canon in G is amazing no matter what decade or genre. Wish I was back there right now. My time.
one of the greatest 80s films ever made but sadly never shown
This was just one of those films that inspired ...I was already giving concerts experimenting with live computers ( Atari ha ha) with live grand piano but this piece just became an obsession ..loved it so much and has featured on quite a few of my albums since.....just fantastic and the whole film takes me back to being 18 and studying music and living in London and having a ball in the 80s :) 😊
I was convinced of Virginia Madsen from Sideways (2004)...then went back in time 20yrs via UA-cam, and left my DeLorean in the garage. She has her own slice of Hollywood, uncontested. Minor character in Dune, but wow!
Love how there is a musical hybrid...and the flow is amazing...hope that it is enjoyed
This movie makes me happy. Together in an electric dreams is my all time favorite song. I went and saw Human League love just for this song even though they have other fantastic songs.
Machine learning in 1984, who'd have known it?!!!
Great movie and great music, my favourite music to play on the Piano.
Virginia Madsen 😍😍
Amen brother
Whatever happened to her?! Had the biggest crush on her😍
@@Conservative_froggymax she is still acting ... she never became a major leading lady but she does a lot of supporting roles ... here is her IMDB page: www.imdb.com/name/nm0000515/?ref_=nv_sr_1
