Fun fact an additional bonus of being on the smaller team is upgrades to armor and attack are cheaper/more efficient. Let’s say attack upgrade is 100g right? For the 3 person army, the cost to have all 3 waves is +1 is 300g right? But 200g for the 2 person team. Now it’s not as simple to say it’s 1.5 times better because in theory they have that extra gold of the third person. It’s actually very mathematically complicated, but the tldr; in theory is it not better returns to get upgrades ASAP, if you’re on the smaller team?

That brings up a great point tbh, which is reacting to your opponent and that it’s a situational game. You mentioned aoe as if it’s a static threat. Which units was he facing that have aoe? Ranger and Alchemist?
I wish Direct Strike was more fun to watch as a spectator. Like 1v1 Grubby is so engaging because when he goes silent, it's because ***shitsgoingdown*** and he's gonna explain it to us scrubs in a minute, then loop. Direct Strike is more like... watch Grubby move units and occasionally repeat strategy for new viewers. I'm way more interested in DS as a game right now and I really love seeing Grubby have fun, but I wonder what we can do to make it more enjoyable for viewers. Even a spectator that stays on the combat the whole time would be HUGE.
@Grubby, If you had to pick the same hero 3 times in melee. Which would you consider strongest for each faction, example, Orc: 3 Blademaster, Tavern heroes acceptable too.
great 2v3 but 2 man side truly cannot win late late game, last moment that 2 man team could win is probably about the same time the stack failed at 43 min mark. (in game timer to the top right) 3 man team cannot fail after that

the fact you will always be money disadvantage whenever one of the players leave, makes impossible to win in that scenario they will always have atleast 1 new big minion / tier 3, while you really can basically only make tier 2 at most, you will always lose
it makes your gold more valuable though because your units will spawn more frequently. I've won a few games only because a player on my team left and their army and hero was making it harder. But you have to win pretty early and usually with only 1 hero in this case.
You aren't money disadvantaged necessarily, but eventually your big hero ult cds like bbv or starfall or volcano will fail to synch up properly in super late game if it comes down to that
