I walk into the theater late to see another movie and see the trailers are starting. I look up at the screen and saw Austin maneuvering the vehicle in the hallway. That was it. I think it was just a five second clip after they do the credits or coming soon caption, right after the main trailer. It's was like a post credits blurb (like the end of Air Force One where it quickly cuts back to Harrison Ford swinging a chair at a bad guy). I watched my movie and then went out to talk to the theater manager who was covering breaks at concessions. I told him I had only caught a quick glance at the trailer, told him what it was, and he told me it was for the upcoming Austin Powers movie starring Mike Myers. Went to see it when it came out and could not stop laughing. Went to see TSWSM and Goldmember with my Brother when they came out. I've used so many lines from this, including the, "I fell over, I fell over again..." (when Austin is trying to seduce Ms. Kensington on the revolving bed) whenever I've tripped or fallen to the floor.
@@H5kji-toiVkIlopI1xq The second and third ones were absolutely blockbusters, but the first one, not so much. While 2 & 3 both did over $200 million at the box office, the first one barely broke $50 million.
This trilogy is among my favorites. Some clever humor, some dumb humor. Mocking the classic Bond genre, but in an affectionate way. Bawdy and crude, but not in an almost family friendly way. These movies never fail to make me laugh. Mike Myers at his best, and I like most of his work a lot.
The best part of this movie and the trilogy in general is Dr. Evil. My favorite scenes of him in this movie are where he announces his grand plans, and Number Two has to break it to him that said plans have been attempted and/or already have happened. And I especially love the scene of Dr. Evil and Scott attending the group therapy session.
This was a real fun reaction to watch. Your moments that you were cringing, embarrassed or genuinely laughing and getting the jokes made this a fun ride. Please watch the other two movies because I honestly think you will get the same level of mindless enjoyment out of them...mind you that you will still have a mix of cringe, embarrassment and laughter.
I could see Cassie struggling with the very British humour every so often which is in it of itself funny but she stuck with it so props her! Also the bond knowledge helped 😅
So much fun rewatching this with someone who gets the references/jokes related to Bond. An epic homage to 60's/70's spy shows. Thank you! You made my week.
If you want a great romantic comedy with Mike Myers definitely check out So I Married An Axe Murderer. It's an EXTREMELY 90's comedy about a guy who's commitment-phobic in relationships but his new girlfriend may be an axe murderer. It's as cute as it is dark and super fun.
I watched it a few years ago and it was like I'd traveled through a time warp back to my teenage years. It was so 90s it hurt. The soundtrack was one of the many truly great ones of that era.
Mike Myers' speech celebrating Sean Connery is absolutely hilarious and provides background to how Austin Powers came about and how revered Sean Connery was by him. I would also highly recommend checking out 'So I Married An Axe Murderer', which is hilarious and great fun. One of my all time favourites.
DREAM COME TRUE ! For all of us to get to experience this reaction with you. NEVER imagined that it would happen. So glad you were in a good place where you took a chance to enjoy it. Thank you!
Haven't seen this in ages, still brilliantly funny and charming all the characters. Cassie is so good at her job and covers a wide variety of films very well.
Mike Myers didn't just draw from the Bond craze, but added influences from other period shows like The Avengers, The Man From Uncle, and movies like the Flint and Matt Helm series, Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine, and the original Casino Royale. It's a wonderful hodge podge of tropes that never takes itself seriously. Great casting. Please follow up with the other movies. They're worth a watch. Enjoy.
The short cut scenes where Austin is dancing with the others to some crazy 60s music is a direct nod to Laugh In, an American TV show that did the same thing between segments.
I disagree. It seems to me they ran out of James Bond stuff to spoof and so just put in a whole bunch of poop and penis jokes. The end of Goldmember is good, with them turning out to be brothers and suddenly working together ("Come on, you were always the smart one!"), and then going to the movie premier together. I don't know if it is hilarious or outrageous that the actual James Bond franchise then stole the idea of Bond and Blofeld being brothers from Austin Powers.
The easily escapable room thing reminded me more of the old Batman and Robin show where they would end every other show in a cliff hanger where the villain always wanted Batman dead but never waited around to actually see him die.
For some reason my parents took 9 year old me to see this in theaters and I was definitely cooler to my 5th grade classmates as a result. I don't remember seeing any trailers before its release, but the series and characters became a phenomenon afterward. The soundtrack is also one of my absolute favorites of all time, great for putting on during a party
The Dr. Evil character was originally modelled on Lorne Michaels (the long time producer of SNL) by Dana Carvey. Apparently Mike Myers...appropriated it, and he and Carvey have been on the outs ever since. Also, Shrek was maybe 2/3rds complete with Chris Farley doing the voice when he died. Myers took over, recreated what Chris had done, and then decided to redo the entire dialogue with a Scottish accent. Mike Myers may be a real pain to work with, and has little trouble taking over a project as he sees fit, but he was in the right place and right time to be a part of some all time classic comedy.
You say "on the outs ever since." My understanding is they put aside their differences years ago. Dana Carvey talks at length about it in a 2022 interview with Howard Stern. But, you're right, there was tension between them for some time.
Mrs. Kensington was a cross between Moneypenny and Emma Peel (Diana Rigg), a British Agent on a tv show from the 6o's called the Avengers. Austin's costume always brought to mind Derek Flint from "In like Flint" and "Our man Flint" movies, also a spy spoof from the 60's.
So happy that you finally watched this! I really hope you'll keep watching the others. The monologue that Dr. Evil does about his childhood in the therapy session is on of my absolute favorite scenes.
If you want Mike Myers in something more grounded, but romantic comedy-ish, try "So I Married an Axe Murderer" 🙋♀️ I still quote it from time to time.
I must have watched that movie at least five times 20 years ago and then completely forgotten about it... but that's more of a comment on me than the movie. I'm gonna watch it again before I die thanks to you. I would like to point out that I'm not sick... it's just a midlife crisis.
As a kid, I never noticed Mike was playing the hero and villain. That just shows how good he is. Like Eddie Murphy basically playing the entire Klump family.
"People reacting to Austin Powers transition scenes for the first time" should be its' own comedy genre, it never fails to amaze. It's also funny how Dr. Evil managed to become more famous and memorable than Blofeld himself.
Can't watch Mike Myers without watching Wayne's World. 2 movies, both huge hits. He and Dana Carvey, taken from one of their most popular skits from SNL. Hope you watch in the future!!!!
Yes! James Coburn in "Our Man Flint" and "in Like Flint" are two Bond-esque films that came out in the 1960's -- basically, America's answer to James Bond (that, and Dean Martin's "Matt Helm") -- and they are really fun, kitchy, cool movies! You should see them! Also, Mike Myers did a little homage to The Beatles in "A Hard Day's Night", in one of those early scenes -- when girls were screaming and chasing him down the street, ala Beatlemania. Fun flicks!
Non-Bond Films Parodied by Austin Powers include: "Our Man Flint", "The Ipcress File" (it's where the glasses / Michael Caine connection later come from), "Alfie" / Bond films not (yet) viewed on this channel parodied by Austin Powers: "You Only Live Twice", "Diamonds Are Forever".
I adore this movie. It was the funniest thing at the time. I remember taking the VHS to my friend's house for a sleepover and we watched it twice in 1 night. It's such a quotable movie and I hope you watch the rest as well. I think the 2nd may be even funnier in some parts. It's still veryyyy silly, crude, and immature...but I love this franchise. And yes, Austin Powers was an extremely popular Halloween costume at the time.
It's great that Cassie and Carly saw "From Russia" and "Goldfinger" before this, though "Dr. No" and "Thunderball" heavily influence the Austin Powers series, as does 60's era swinging London, early Beatles styles and so on. A parody is naturally dependent on some familiarity of what it's parodying, though the Austin Powers movies are good enough to stand on their own merit.
So right. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with "Secret Agent", "The Avengers" and so on. And I've always loved that Derek Flint's phone ringtone is copied exactly for Austin's phone. @@craigplatel813

3:55 - She's supposed to be more of a play on Mrs. Emma Peel from "The Avengers" than Miss Moneypenny. "The Avengers" was a popular British spy/adventure TV show and the Mrs. Peel (Diana Rigg) era is considered the highpoint of the series.
Mike Myers does indeed play both Austin "Danger" Powers as well as Dr. Evil. 😂 Their use of the song Secret Agent Man was inspired. 😅 The "Preparation H" joke was probably my favorite...and then all the entendres with the radar tracking the Bobs Big Boy Rocket...lol 🤣
This might be my fav Cassie reaction yet. She got the Blofeld reference almost immediately and got a heck of a lot of others as well. Can't wait for her to watch #2. 😀
I remember watching the Austin Powers trilogy and laughing my ass off, even though I have never seen the old Bond movies. I didn't even knew it was supposed to be parody.
You probably noticed at some point that the woman running the therapy session was the late Carrie Fisher aka Princess Leia. The first one is easily the best in the series, but I think 2 and 3 are worth a watch.
Yeah. I was disappointed she didn’t recognize Carrie, especially given the previous reactions to the Star Wars films on the channel. I’m not trying to be harshly critical, either. I’ve only seen Fisher in mostly obscure roles outside of SW: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Scream 3, Wonderland and Sorority Row.
I think this was my favorite reaction video so far. The eye rolling, the disgust, the genuine laughs were great! You reminded me of my mom's reactions when watching this movie for the first time. I really hope you watch the other 2 films to keep the laughs coming!
The best! I think Mike Meyers is a comedic genius. The next one is even better, and the third one, especially because of the opening, is a must-see for you and Carly! Thank you for this great reaction!
I saw this movie in the theater. My 16 year old brain was not capable of appreciating the genius at the time. The satire runs so deep and there are so many social themes and ideals. The "not hooking up with someone because they're drunk" might seem obvious today, but that was a very progressive point being made in 1997.
The callback to "Bu Hu" was one of those precious things. It's not everyday that you get to enjoy an inside joke with someone you've never had the chance to meet.
The rare trilogy that get better with each installment. And in the even more rarified air of being an outright parody of the British spy genre while by the third not only still operates on this level, but succeeds on a genuine narrative heartfelt level and, like, Men In Black III, finds a way with several twists by the series end that flips the real thematic intentions of the saga. Yeah Baby, Yeeea!
Random Task was epic - not just the play on the the Oddjob name, but the fact that he keeps popping up to do random tasks throught the movie. Spectacular writing :) Thanks for your reaction
When this came out here in the UK, my friend and I watched it, then immediately bought another ticket for the next showing and went back in. At the time, it really was 'our' Airplane. Just hysterical. Keep going with the other two, there are some great cameos and like you say, it doesn't take itself seriously - definitely not a movie franchise that needs in-depth analysis 😁😁
"How dare you break wind before me?", "I'm sorry baby I didn't know it was your turn", cracks me up every time. Cassie's lack of reaction hurt lol, but still a great reaction! She definitely needs to watch the rest of them.
I haven't even finished watching this yet but this is definitely one of your most shagadelic reactions yet, Cassie. All those facial expressions of yours throughout the reaction was the best part. I would definitely recommend that you watch the other two movies aswell. :)
Austin is a spoof of 007 and a spoof on David Hemmings from the movie Blow Up (1966) especially the costume and photography stuff. As well as various Peter Sellers characters like The Pink Panther movies. Also, I highly recommend 'Wayne's World' with Mike Myers and Dana Carvey. That's an hilarious and iconic 90s comedy.
The Austin Powers films also draw heavily from the In Like Flint series that was kind of America's somewhat satirical answer to Bond. The first one is worth a watch for some context.
The Woman Guitar Player the band Ming Tea, is Susanna Hoffs, of the Bangles. She is married to Jay Roach, who directed the Austin Powers Films. The Judo Chop quote was from the Flintstones when Fred was J. Bondrock. Any time he or barney did one, they would say 'a Judo Chop' or 'a Judo Chop Chop'

This was one of the few movies that really took hold in the rental market. Is only performed modestly at the box office, but everyone rented it!
In the UK it came out the weekend after Princess Diana died.
@@H5kji-toiVkIlopI1xq The second and third ones were absolutely blockbusters, but the first one, not so much. While 2 & 3 both did over $200 million at the box office, the first one barely broke $50 million.
@@H5kji-toiVkIlopI1xq Look up the numbers. The first one had an opening weekend of about 18 million. Peanuts.
Much like Super Troopers, and for similar reasons…
I was 11 or 12 when the first one came out, must've seen it eight or nine times in the theater.
I’m not ashamed to say I memorised that entire monologue performed by Dr Evil in the session scene 😂
@@Max-wl7jn I may not have it down to every single tiny little syllable, but I've done the same.
@@Max-wl7jn I've gotten pretty close, but not quite perfectly.
"That also...already...has happened."
"Shit."
My favorites are definitely the group therapy session, Scott and Dr. Evil on Jerry Springer, and of course Dr. Evil and Mini Me in jail.
My dad showed me these movies at like 10 and they've shaped so much of my humor 😂
So cool to see her connection between "Odd Job and "Random Task"😮😮😂 The growth of the channel and her movie knowledge is so cool!😅😊😂
it blows my mind how well austin p;owers, the whole trilogy, holds up today. still gets tons of laughs from me to this day.
Dr. Evil describing his life up till that point is perfect gibberish in every way. Makes me miss the days of making meat helmets.
Cassie’s reaction to Allota Fagina had me dying laughing 🤣
17:29 CASSIE: 🙂↔️
ME: 🤷🏼♂️😂
This was a real fun reaction to watch. Your moments that you were cringing, embarrassed or genuinely laughing and getting the jokes made this a fun ride. Please watch the other two movies because I honestly think you will get the same level of mindless enjoyment out of them...mind you that you will still have a mix of cringe, embarrassment and laughter.
14:15 always gets me. When I saw this as a kid I nearly peed my pants lmao. This entire trilogy is worth it 100000%
I could see Cassie struggling with the very British humour every so often which is in it of itself funny but she stuck with it so props her! Also the bond knowledge helped 😅
So much fun rewatching this with someone who gets the references/jokes related to Bond. An epic homage to 60's/70's spy shows.
Thank you! You made my week.
Watching you connect "Odd Job" with "Random Task" was gold!
If you want a great romantic comedy with Mike Myers definitely check out So I Married An Axe Murderer. It's an EXTREMELY 90's comedy about a guy who's commitment-phobic in relationships but his new girlfriend may be an axe murderer. It's as cute as it is dark and super fun.
great movie!
HEED. MOVE.

Happy in her cage
I watched it a few years ago and it was like I'd traveled through a time warp back to my teenage years. It was so 90s it hurt. The soundtrack was one of the many truly great ones of that era.
We have a down piper, I repeat the piper that is down
Mike Myers' speech celebrating Sean Connery is absolutely hilarious and provides background to how Austin Powers came about and how revered Sean Connery was by him.
Thank you!
All jokes aside, superb work from Mike Myers playing both Dr. Evil and Austin, the two of them so funny in their own way. Bravo!
Enjoy.
In like Flint would be another good watch since it is a Bond/Man from Uncle spoof which was actually made in the 60s
Benny Hill and a bit of Woody Allen's _Sleeper._
The short cut scenes where Austin is dancing with the others to some crazy 60s music is a direct nod to Laugh In, an American TV show that did the same thing between segments.
One of those musicians playing with Austin is Susanna Hoffs from The Bangles (who is married to the director.)@@thomast8539
I hope you watch the rest! All of the Austin Powers movies were huge in my house growing up. So happy you enjoyed the first!
This is one of those extremely rare series that actually gets better. The third movie is by far my favorite. Really hope you watch the other two.
@@odysseusrex5908 Not a James Bond fan so I don't care that they ran out of things to spoof. It's funny as hell.
The easily escapable room thing reminded me more of the old Batman and Robin show where they would end every other show in a cliff hanger where the villain always wanted Batman dead but never waited around to actually see him die.
God, Mike Myers was such a great comedic talent.
He didn't die.
RIP
@@rooneyrythm I meant that his comedic ability dissipated after the mid 2000s lol

The other two movies are hysterical too! The 2nd one is my personal favorite!
Wow, Shrek with Chris Farley doing that voice - I can't even imagine that. Mike Myer's Scottish voice for that just fits so well, somehow.
I think the costume was also influenced heavily by Jason King.
The whole trilogy is hilarious. Please keep watching.
Please continue with the trilogy, Cassie. The third one is truly meta, and Myers plays four different characters. Also. MICHAEL CAINE!
MY COCAINE!
12:29 ”What language is he speaking?”
🤣🤣 Perfect response
So happy that you finally watched this! I really hope you'll keep watching the others. The monologue that Dr. Evil does about his childhood in the therapy session is on of my absolute favorite scenes.
Now you must, absolutely, watch the other two movies. You'll love them. 🙂
If you want Mike Myers in something more grounded, but romantic comedy-ish, try "So I Married an Axe Murderer" 🙋♀️ I still quote it from time to time.
Heed, what a big cranium ya have!
I must have watched that movie at least five times 20 years ago and then completely forgotten about it... but that's more of a comment on me than the movie. I'm gonna watch it again before I die thanks to you. I would like to point out that I'm not sick... it's just a midlife crisis.
Piper down!
"Excuse me, I ordered a LARGE"
"He's got a head the size of Sputnik"
As a kid, I never noticed Mike was playing the hero and villain. That just shows how good he is. Like Eddie Murphy basically playing the entire Klump family.
Glad you liked it, I'm very excited to watch your reaction to the rest of them.
"People reacting to Austin Powers transition scenes for the first time" should be its' own comedy genre, it never fails to amaze.
It's also funny how Dr. Evil managed to become more famous and memorable than Blofeld himself.
Your WTF cringe face throughout this reaction was EVERYTHING!! Lmao!! 🤣🤣❤️
@petersonchan9250 Just imagine how she would react to "Fat Bastard" to whom Mike Myers said is the foulest character he ever played🤣😆
@@justindenney-hall5875 🤫...😆
Fun flicks!
“me in a nutshell” absolutely kills me every single time 😂💀
I told that joke to my gf in bed one night. Good times.
Also some of You Only Live Twice influences Austin Powers
Also other movies like our man flint, and tv shows like danger man (secret agent man in the states) the avengers etc...
So right. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with "Secret Agent", "The Avengers" and so on. And I've always loved that Derek Flint's phone ringtone is copied exactly for Austin's phone.
@@craigplatel813
@@dreadsocialistroberts Honestly the entire Sean Connery era very clearly influenced Austin Powers, since there's also a lot of reference to Diamonds Are Forever as well
13:30 Your reaction to this bit nearly knocked me out of my chair I was laughing so hard. It was great 🤣
I think this is my favourite reaction so far, just watching Cassie’s face when she get’s the double entendres 😂
My favourite line (in fact of any movie) is: “All I ask is to have sharks with fricken laser-beams attached to their heads”. Thanks for your great reaction. Geoff from Fremantle Western Australia 🇦🇺
Evil. 😂
Their use of the song Secret Agent Man was inspired. 😅
The "Preparation H" joke was probably my favorite...and then all the entendres with the radar tracking the Bobs Big Boy Rocket...lol 🤣
This might be my fav Cassie reaction yet. She got the Blofeld reference almost immediately and got a heck of a lot of others as well. Can't wait for her to watch #2. 😀
...also Cassie is 🔥🔥🔥in the orange and black!
#2 was already in this movie.
I remember watching the Austin Powers trilogy and laughing my ass off, even though I have never seen the old Bond movies. I didn't even knew it was supposed to be parody.
The judo chopping of the toothpaste was stupidly hilarious.
You probably noticed at some point that the woman running the therapy session was the late Carrie Fisher aka Princess Leia. The first one is easily the best in the series, but I think 2 and 3 are worth a watch.
I actually like the 3rd one the best, but they are all great.

The best! I think Mike Meyers is a comedic genius. The next one is even better, and the third one, especially because of the opening, is a must-see for you and Carly! Thank you for this great reaction!
A very underrated and unknown Mike Myers movie is _So I Married an Axe Murderer._ I highly recommend it.
kudos to whoever does your graphics. they are always spot on with the name to match the movie. just tickles me every time.
SCTV in Edmonton back in the day. The cast will blow you away.
Great character but a horrible person in real life.
I love the way this film had the honesty to show us the Bond movies for what they are.
How many times I'd said the line,"My father would womanize, he would drink...." in just random parts of my life is astounding.
I feel like this chick can’t appreciate the legend that Austin Powers is. She may not be worthy
Great reactions. I loved watching all the Austin Powers movies when i was a kid. Glad i got to see someone else react to it for the first time. : )
I think Austin Powers one and two hold up as fantastic comedies. Third movie? It's fun, but not as good as the first two.
Same. Not that the third was “bad” per say, just not at the same level. The cameos do make up for a lot, though.
It has a great intro
"How dare you break wind before me?", "I'm sorry baby I didn't know it was your turn", cracks me up every time. Cassie's lack of reaction hurt lol, but still a great reaction! She definitely needs to watch the rest of them.

I haven't even finished watching this yet but this is definitely one of your most shagadelic reactions yet, Cassie. All those facial expressions of yours throughout the reaction was the best part. I would definitely recommend that you watch the other two movies aswell. :)
Cassie's reactions are priceless.
29:46 best judo chop of the movie imo - the way that dude just springs upward all befuddled lol
The fact that you had seen the Bond films and got all the references ,made your reactions so hilarious. I totally loved it..thanks.
I would give "one million dollars" to see Carly's face when you give her a judo chop while you're laughing hysterically. lol
I remember laughing until my stomach hurt 😂😂😂😂. You have to watch all of them
The Austin Powers films also draw heavily from the In Like Flint series that was kind of America's somewhat satirical answer to Bond. The first one is worth a watch for some context.
Both Coburn "Flint" movies are worth a watch. The third, starring NOT-Coburn, is not worth anything at all.
This came out the year I went to Uni. When I arrived, a new teaching facility was opened called the Austin Pearce Building. During freshers week, it was hijacked, and an enormous canvas artwork was hung from the top of it declaring it ‘The Austin Powers Building: International Building of Mystery’. We loved it, and the building was referred to as Austin Powers from that day on. Probably still is. It’s also hard to underestimate how much of that film’s dialogue made it into common conversation…! Love that movie!!
