This film is both silly and GENIUS. Not to mention how scary prophetic it is. Plus to this day, fans of this movie are still demanding answers: *_How do you use the three sea shells?_*
I watched a video about the explanation behind The 3 Sea Shells.Basically You use them like Pincers or Chopsticks to scrape the poop, which is not nearly as effective as good old Toilet Paper!
And theres liquid nitrogen at the beginning at the movie i think. Spartan looks at it after Simon tells him about the hostages. So it's like an omen all around.. 😎

Every time that alarm tones when someone curses it cracks me up. Sometimes it's so subtle and quiet but they never miss a beat. I miss movies like this...action packed fun.
Actually they miss it about 35 times over the course of the movie. You can turn it into a drinking game-every time they cuss and don’t get a buzzer, take a shot.
The fact you asked Alexa a question and had a response shows how much closer we to that reality and how far away we were at the time the movie was made.
This, besides Blade, is probably my favourite Wesley Snipes performance. You can practically see how much fun he had playing this role and Im all for it.
This is a great movie! Sylvester making fun of himself in good humor, just like Arnold did with Last American Hero. They each reference each other too.
Wesley Snipes is an exceptionally good martial artist. It's a well-known fact that the stunt coordinator and director had him slow down the movements because he was simply too fast for the regular camera to properly track his arms and legs in the fight scenes. It was actually hard for him to shoot the scenes properly, precisely because he is so good at it.
That's actually quite common for martial arts stars. Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, etc... have all been reported to slow down their movements as well. To this day, most movies are still recorded at 24 fps.
The curly-haired woman that Spartan was protecting when Phoenix attacks him and Friendly was his daughter. The comic book adaptation shows that she was a part of Friendly's group and Spartan met her there. It got cut from the film.
20 year old me: "Wow, imagine a world where the future plot was true and the world is run by fat guys wearing mumus, and you can get fined for what you say...." 50 year old me (present day): "Yeah, not so funny anymore, is it??"
Stallone really did a ton of great movies in the 80s to 2000s. Action, mob, comedies, he really was huge! A very underrated movie or two he did, was Copland and his movie with Dolly Parton.
I thought this cheery world would be right up Cassie's alley but forgot that the lack of fluid transfers would really hurt the romantic movies that she loves. Plus the snack the channel is named after. The Rockapella Folgers jingle is my favorite. Sandra Bullock is peak level cute in this one, right up there with Speed.
I saw this with my dad in a crowded theater at the age of 9. Absolutely loved it. Stallone and Snipes together are great. Movie still holds up. If you liked this, you should check out Cliffhanger. Another great Stallone classic. 93 was another great year for summer films. Jurassic Park, Last Action Hero, The Fugitive, Cliffhanger, The Firm, and this!
"Great" is really pushing it. Jurassic Park, particularly for the time and in theater, is the only one of those you listed were great. The fugitive was good. The rest can be forgotten IMO.
This is such a fun film. I just love Sandra's character getting the sayings wrong just enough to make it hilarious. Glad you decided to watch both movies, it was obviously a great choice! I would just die if the next time you are watching a scary movie you found yourself saying "enhance your calm..." 🤣
When Huxley (Bullock) mentioned the line about "blow this guy," Spartan should have mentioned that it was one of those fluid transfers that she was disgusted by.
It's such a genius movie. It was one of the first meta movies that made fun of traditional genre tropes. There's also how it flipped the cyberpunk sub-genre on its head by making a cyberpunk movie where everything is the exact opposite of every other piece of media in the sub-genre.
@@rovhalt6650 The Fifth Element is a completely different movie, with different themes depicting a completely different future. The only thing they have in common is the genre.
Wesley Snipes played a great role in this movie and he even got to show off his martial arts skills which he practices to this day. Starting in movies with his first major role in "Major League", he would go on to star in other movies, but the one that made him an icon would be when he became the "Day Walker" in the Marvel movie version of the character, "Blade" in that trilogy from the late 90s into the early 2000s.
Wait a second, the only movie she's ever seen Sly Stallone in was Rocky? OMG LOL. Wow are you missing out. Rambo Series, Cobra, Get Carter, Bullet To The Head, Over The Top, Assassins, Judge Dredd. I can go on and on.
Your Blade Runner reference at 10:15 was spot on in a way. In the original novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, whenever someone feels depression o or ennui, they can access an empathy machine to make them feel more grounded in a society that doesn't really care anymore.
@@luminousdragon I mean people call that religion or prayer. Now it's parasocial with somebody online. When it's the AI, will it really be any different?
This reaction was just as much fun as this movie. You're 100% correct in thinking that the film is a bit tongue in cheek. You're also right that it's endlessly quotable. I still tell people to "enhance your calm". They mostly think I'm crazy. Lol! One of my favourite running gags throughout the movie is the credits machine beeping in the background and fining John pretty much every time he opens his mouth. 😄 This was actually one of Sandra Bullock's first movies, and I think her first big budget one. 😍 I was pleasantly surprised by the chemistry between the two of them. ❤ This was great!
What a delightful reaction. You understood everything about this movie. What was great about your reaction is how funny you found the future to be. You seem like such a nice person that this future would really gel with your personality. But as more and more of how restrictive and PC everything is, the more you're like "oh, this furture is crap. Bring back body fluids!" Good stuff..
I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction! I am impressed by your singing too! I think you might be ready to enjoy Tango and Cash. It is along the same lines of humor as this one. It is with Sylvester as Tango and Kurt Russell as Cash. Teri Hatcher is in that movie too.
I was in high school when this came out. I remember Taco Bell commercials advertising the movie. To this day, I’ll still occasionally tell a friend to enhance their calm. Still One of my fave action movies. Seriously, you HAVE to watch Copland. It’s one of Sly’s best. Also another under appropriated 90s Stallone movie is “Daylight”. It’s a great action disaster movie.
Cop Land always seems to be under nearly everyone's radar and its shame, as it's quite good. Stallone shows a bit more dramatic chops as he doesn't play a total muscle hero as he does here. It also has a truly powerhouse supporting cast with Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Robert Patrick, Michael Rapaport, and John Spencer along with others.
I think my favorite part of this reaction is Cassie reacting to Huxley's messing up of common sayings that she thinks she knows. And to say them with such confidence.
Yes, you should definitely check out more Stallone movies. First Blood and Rambo: First Blood Part 2 are both awesome but also quite different in tone (comparing the two.) There are three other Rambo sequels (which are a mixed bag.) Cliffhanger, Escape To Victory and Nighthawks are worth watching too.

Owning firearms of any kind should necessarily require extremely strict checks and tests. You need to pass tests to drive a car, since it's such a dangerous tool, so you should absolutely be required to undergo strict military-level training and testing in the use of firearms before being allowed to own them and even carry them around in your pants or glove compartments... Take Switzerland as a real life example, where everyone owning guns there has also been through military training and therefore there are virtually no firearms problems whatsoever.
I love the foreshadowing where in the fight scene at the very beginning of the movie Phoenix says “I’d lose my head if it wasn’t attached”. Then Spartan kills him at the end of the movie by kicking his head off. 🤣
YES! I love this movie! It was way ahead of it's time and it nailed several points about the future of technology like videocalls, self-driving cars, video conferances, handheld tablets, voice activated appliances and biometric implants. More Stallone and more Snipes, please! Stallone's "First Blood" (Rambo) is a must and if you want Marvel, look no further than Snipe's portrayal of Blade.
Opening brutal fight in a horrible dystopia “I love his beret…” opening a box in the future “His beret!!” omg I just love this channel so much 😂. It actually makes me see these movies in a way I never have and it is awesome. This channel is a gem on UA-cam.
The part where they're underground and Stallone is talking to Friendly, one of Friendly's henchmen is Jack Black. You can see him in a couple of the shots while they are talking. Kind of in the middle on the right. When Phoenix tells his henchmen to kill the leader guy, the guy that kills him is Jesse Ventura. And at the beginning when Stallone's captain is talking to him about his demolition man antics, he is the captain and the lethal weapon movies.
One of Friendly's henchmen is also John Spartan's daughter though her story line was written out of the movie so they never made that reveal in the final cut.
Wesley Snipes did an awesome job playing the villain. Just the blast he was having made it blast to watch. There's a lesser known movie titled "Chaos" from 2005, starring Wesley, along with Ryan Phillippe and Jason Statham, where Mr. Snipes also plays the bad guy. Well worth a watch.
Demolition Man is the pinnacle of 90's entertainment, when movies were just plain fun! Also can't believe you only watched Stallone in Rocky so far, that is an untapped gold mine! So many more gems for you to discover. P. S. As far as Sandra Bullock goes, I think you would like The Proposal (2009) with Ryan Reynolds, that movie is right up your alley. 😉
Schwarzenegger's term as governor was 2003 - 2011, this film was released in 1993, originally Burger King was written as the winner of the restaurant wars but they along with McDonalds weren't interested in being part of the film. I'm in disbelief that this film is 30 years old.
I saw Demolition Man in the cinema when it came out, love love love it. Totally satirical and totally believable. And one of the only future films that accurately predicted iPads and handheld tablets.
When Stallone was born the doctor used forceps that severed a nerve and parlayzed the left side of his face, he had to train himself to talk the best way he could. Because of his speech pattern he was diagnosed as having a "dormant brain" and was teased constantly. Part of the reason he became so physically built was to make people have second thoughts about teasing him. He also got into acting partly to use practicing many different dialogs as a way to improve his speaking.
In the European version of this movie, they didn't have Taco Bell. Taco Bell was not a thing in Europe at the time. So they replaced it with Pizza Hut. They replaced the scenes and such with the Pizza Hut logo and redubbed the lines with Pizza Hut. To this day, you can get the movie in the European version, or the American one. The TV version actually got chopped up pretty badly. They removed all references to Taco Bell, as well as the reference to Jeffrey Dahmer. The film was considered too violent, and a lot of the graphic violence of the guards dying was removed. They removed the rat-burger as well.
huh, I remember it being pizza hut and not having the dahmer reference, but still had the ratburger and I think all the violence but cant be sure of that part. Intereesting
I adore this movie so much. I remember coming across my mums VHS tapes around the 2000s when i was a kid, born Dec 1999. It had an average of two movies on them so I'd start watching some wholesome movie about a boy and his dog only for the next thing movie to The Running Man 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger or this movie Demolition Man. That's how I discovered alot of these classic 1980s to 1990s action movies most of them stuff a 8 year old shouldn't be watching tbh. Total Recall, The Running Man. Demolition Man, Starship Troopers, Highlander, Predator, Aliens, Top Gun, Die Hard, Mad Max 2, Escape from New York, Lethal Weapon, Big Trouble in Little China, Beverly Hills Cop, They Live, Conan the Barbarian, pick any of these movies and you'll have a fun time. Starship Troopers may be far too violent but the others are great. Another Sly movie that's set in a dystopian future is Judge Dredd based on the Judge Dredd 2000AD British comic books series. From an art direction stand point it's amazing feels like they pulled everything straight out of the comic but the characters themselves such as Dredd aren't too faithful to the comic which naturally upset alot of comic fans. But the film does a good job at showcasing the more crazy and silly side of the 2000AD universe with it's designs and overall tone and depiction of the future. It's kind of like the Tim Burton Batman movies in this regard having a very comic book inspired city compared to the more tame Nolan Trilogy. Then you have Dredd from 2012 which is amazing, lower budget so the art direction is much more tame in compression having a more near future look instead but everything else is amazing. it's also much more faithful to Dredd as a character and showcases the more mature and darker side of the 2000AD universe. So both films go for different things, combine these two together and we'd have one hell of a Judge Dredd movie or show. So yeah I personally recommend the 2012 Dredd film overall. If the film got a sequel I could see them developing Mega City One closer to the comics to show the passage of time. Wesley Snipes is amazing in this movie if you want to see more of him i highly recommend Marvel's Blade trilogy from the first movie in 1998 to Blade: Trinity released in 2004. These pre date the MCU so like Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four they're not connected to any greater universe. Blade 1 and 2 are amazing fun and credited for kick started the whole Marvel wave of movies along with X-Men which is also credited for that. Blade: Trinity is pretty mixed i actually have never seen it but like I said I adore the first two movies.
That's hilarious cuz that's essentially why my daughter (13) loves blasting Metallica, Guns N Roses, Def Leppard, etc. Got bored when she was maybe 4-ish and started going through my old CD's from when I was basically 13.

Apparently they are supposed to be used as a scraper to scrape off the SH** - but does nothing for the crack... Got this from another comment for this video....
I'm glad you enjoyed it Cassie. Loved this movie as a child, appreciated even more as time went by for all those "Brave New World" book references and pop culture from the 90's.
She really needs to finish the Lethal Weapon series! It’s too good not to finish, and it’s not about the action or stunts (still a fun part of it) but ultimately about the relationships formed and becoming family.
A couple of Stallone movies you should consider checking out is Rambo, which spawned several sequels like Rocky spawned several. And the other is Cop Land, which showed Stallone is much more just an Action Star actor. Cop Land is my favorite Stallone movie.
Hey Cassie! I saw his movie in theatres and loved it! I had no clue what is was about. This movie is pretty much a 90's inspired retelling of Brave New World. John Spartan is frequently referred to as a savage, mirroring John the Savage in BNW who came from the non-technological Reservation. The constant focus on cleanliness and hygiene. The rejection of intimacy and emotional expression. Just a lot more bullets and explosions.

What I didn't clock until your comment was that old commercials ARE kind of a niche thing now, there are channels dedicated to showing blocks of commercials from the 70s, 80s and 90s, as well as hobbyists with their own film scanners uploading old trailers and film clips into 4K and they're all very calming, relaxing, and retro. He doesn't know how to use the three sea shells!
Please someone tell us !! 🥺
There is finslly an answer just ask google or sari.
I watched a video about the explanation behind The 3 Sea Shells.Basically You use them like Pincers or Chopsticks to scrape the poop, which is not nearly as effective as good old Toilet Paper!
Far too prophetic ... and getting worse every day
The head-kicking moment was foreshadowed early in the movie when Simon said "I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached!' :)
Spartan did, in fact, keep it in mind.
Good memory.
And theres liquid nitrogen at the beginning at the movie i think. Spartan looks at it after Simon tells him about the hostages. So it's like an omen all around.. 😎
Stallone in First Blood is 100% a must watch. It would be a real interesting one for you, as the movie progresses and with its conclusion.
Cobra 1986
First Blood, the flick that made Sly a household name. Great, best of the Rambo flicks and with a serious message.
@@knokname6466 Rocky is a household name

Conclusion?... NOTHING IS OVER...NOTHING!!
appreciate this one more than I did back in the 90s; Stallone is fittingly tough, Snipes is over-the-top crazy, and Bullock brings the perfect amount of levity
All the future satire has really aged like fine wine. Great movie.
It fits right
Every time that alarm tones when someone curses it cracks me up.
"You're gonna regret this for the rest of your life.... both seconds of them" is just an incredible line 😂
Snipes' scenery chewing is an absolute work of art, as is this entire film.
He's basically playing the Joker.
This, besides Blade, is probably my favourite Wesley Snipes performance. You can practically see how much fun he had playing this role and Im all for it.

cliffhanger is awesome, of course, i love daylight too
This is a great movie! Sylvester making fun of himself in good humor, just like Arnold did with Last American Hero. They each reference each other too.
Last Action Hero, but yeah i agree.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I think this is a very underrated action comedy. I saw it in the theater when it came out and have always loved it.
Me and my brother saw it on tv once thinking it was a different film and ended up enjoying the rid and loved it ever since
Probably the best example of a critical look at utopia wrapped up in a satirical live-action cartoon. Way ahead of it's time.
Oooo, I bet he felt like a new training challenge 😊
Blade trilogy incoming?
And yes, I say trilogy: if only for the sake of Deadpool being Blade’s sidekick in the third movie.
Well known fact to who??
@@jjc5871 People who follow the topic?
That's actually quite common for martial arts stars. Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, etc... have all been reported to slow down their movements as well. To this day, most movies are still recorded at 24 fps.
"Maniac has responded with a scornful remark." 🤣 One of my absolute favorite lines.
The curly-haired woman that Spartan was protecting when Phoenix attacks him and Friendly was his daughter. The comic book adaptation shows that she was a part of Friendly's group and Spartan met her there. It got cut from the film.
Good info--thanks.

Stallone really did a ton of great movies in the 80s to 2000s. Action, mob, comedies, he really was huge! A very underrated movie or two he did, was Copland and his movie with Dolly Parton.
His role in Copland was Oscar worthy!
Rhinestone was the movie he did with Dolly Parton. Even though it was panned by most critics and even Stallone himself, I actually enjoyed the movie.
Was gonna suggest Copland too! Some of his best acting IMO, and among that cast of greats
I keep throwing Copland at every reactor watching a Stallone movie. still no takers
You're right about Copland
I thought this cheery world would be right up Cassie's alley but forgot that the lack of fluid transfers would really hurt the romantic movies that she loves. Plus the snack the channel is named after. The Rockapella Folgers jingle is my favorite.
Sandra Bullock is peak level cute in this one, right up there with Speed.
If you want to see more of Stallone, check out First Blood (commonly referred to as Rambo 1). I'd say it's one of Stallone's best performances
I remember a Rambo reference being made in some other movie Cassie was watching and her saying she should watch that.
Warn her. First Blood is grittier with more serious violence than Rocky. It is NOT a love story.

Cliffhanger is in my top 3 Stallone films! It’s a lot of good action and drama, my favorite mix.
Yes, you and Carly would love Cliffhanger!
Can't forget Daylight - a solid suspense/action film with a younger Vigo Mortenson (Aragorn).
"...still holds up" Will it in 2032? 🤔
"Great" is really pushing it. Jurassic Park, particularly for the time and in theater, is the only one of those you listed were great. The fugitive was good. The rest can be forgotten IMO.
The funniest part of this entire reaction was Cassie at the end saying, "Thank you Google... auto-drive." LOL!
This is such a fun film. I just love Sandra's character getting the sayings wrong just enough to make it hilarious. Glad you decided to watch both movies, it was obviously a great choice! I would just die if the next time you are watching a scary movie you found yourself saying "enhance your calm..." 🤣
At the beginning she sounds so sweet and naive, kinda like someone else we all know and love ;)
Such a good film. And I love the way Cassie’s journey has made her aware of the pop culture background of these films.
This movie is very meta today, and was way ahead of it's time when it first came out.

"She doesn't know what she's missin'"

I love that the machine that fines Spartan any time he swears goes off throughout the movie in the background. Great little detail.

You could check out Rambo First Blood for another Stallone classic. His acting (towards the end) was touching.

And Kurt Russell in drag! He looks pretty good too!
I was in high school when this came out. I remember Taco Bell commercials advertising the movie. To this day, I’ll still occasionally tell a friend to enhance their calm. Still
One of my fave action movies. Seriously, you HAVE to watch Copland. It’s one of Sly’s best. Also another under appropriated 90s Stallone movie is “Daylight”. It’s a great action disaster movie.
When it came out in New Zealand we’d never heard of Taco Bell, it was dubbed over as Pizza Hut!
I still say "be well" a lot, in the computer's tone. 😂
Copland is a really good film
He was great in Copland. Great movie!!
Not to mention The Expendables
"That Pope guy." I busted a gut laughing at that one!
Also, the Cassie growl was hysterical. Please do that more in future reactions.

Cliffhanger is another entertaining Stallone action movie of the 90s.

So many great lines from this movie. "Enhance your calm John Spartan!"
You forgot Commando, Cliffhanger, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and Face/Off.

Such a fun reaction to a great movie! The movie is great example of a "benevolent" autocratic dystopia ala Huxley's "Brave New World".
Exactly. Sandra Bullock's character, Lenina Huxley, is even named as a reference to Lenina Crowne from Huxley's novel.
