Fair to Midland-Musical chairs!! Please!
Have you heard of the pirate themed band known as Ye banished privateers ? they are 11 in the group and have several vocalist in the group, they recently released a new video here on youtube (Sulphur Ahoy) it a christmas thingy ;)
Have you done Mastodon in your Progressive rock reactions?
I'd love if you could do the reaction to Leprous' "Castaway Angels"!
Agreed!!!
came here to say this!
Castaway Angels practically brought tears to my eyes. Amazing performance!
I would totally vote for this song if there was a poll. I’ve only recently heard it, but holy smokes is it FANTASTIC.
Indeed! Castaway Angels really showcasts both Einar's vocal and emotional range in a brilliant way.
It's frustrating how few youtubers speak about Leprous, and Einar Solberg's unapparelled talent. Thank you for spotlighting this incredible band on your channel.
этот феномен закономерен-красота жемчуга не всем доступна
As a long time prog metal fan, just came here to simpy say that Leprous really took me by surprise in the last 2 years. Saw them live last year, and it was a top 3 performance ever after several dozen shows of various bands.
@@Bottleorum you've basically had the same experience as me then.
Got into them during the lockdown, aswell as Caligula's Horse. Saw them twice in the last couple of years, and they quickly became my favourite band.
You have an intense voice crush on Einar's, Elizabeth. Don't worry, it's ok and very common. He's amazing.
I feel like you might appreciate Joe from Gojira's screaming too.
Global warming would be really impressive first listen ;)
Let's be honest, I think we all have an intense regular crush on Einar.
;)
Definitely. She should check out the Art of Dying by Gojira. A lot going on with the vocals in that song
Yes! Joe's and Einar's screaming are some of the few I tolerate. I think it's because they scream on pitch.
😀
You need to do "Contaminate Me" from the same concert. Ihsahn and Einar are a life changing mix.
I absolutely second this!
Ihsahn scream in that song is out of this world
Great choice!
or Acquired Taste for more emotion.
second this, Ihsahn has a unique screechy scream, then again Ihsahn is LEGEND!
"His screaming is almost pretty"
Hell yes, it is ! And your reaction to his singing is just priceless !!!
This band like many others (Ihsahn, Devin, Opeth etc...) are just re-defining the concept of composition in metal music. They are using the beauty of extreme metal to deliver much more emotions than in the traditionnal raw sounding metal genres.
Please give Opeth a chance. Magnificant band with a very unique vocalist and sound. The song "Deliverance" from the lamentations DVD is a very good starter :)
Einar has such a unique timbre to his voice. His ability to oscillate between a very masculine, feminine and even an androgynous tone is very special. He does this a lot in "Below" and "The Sky is Red."
A recommendation ? Simple .... Leprous - "Below" or Leprous - "The Cloak"
Couldn't have said it better
Alleviate. 🤘
Or Alleviate or distant bells
I vote for those too! Elizabeth, if you read this, bring us more Leprous reactions!
Bonneville, too.
The second drummer is Tobias Ørnes Andersen, Leprous previous drummer. He joined them on stage just for that song.
Nope, not just that song. Contaminate me as well
It’s cool to have old members come on stage and share the love. :)
If you want to listen to more Leprous, you should check out The Sky Is Red - Live from 2020. Probably the most epic outro ever made in music history.
Also, thank you for checking out my favorite band out all time
I just watched the drum play through about 15 minutes ago and it’s such an amazing composition. I don’t think I’ve ever seen drums played so smoothly yet so erratic at times. These guys are so fascinating.
That outro just keeps haunting me
Einar is amazing. "Castaway Angels" and "Distant Bells" are emotional rollercoasters for me, but it's all amazing. I also really love his vocal performance on a song from their recent album, "On Hold." And, then, "Rewind" from The Congregation is probably my favorite Leprous song.
Leprous just released a live studio version of On Hold, a song that just grips me to my core about the pain of just enduring through mental illness to come out the other side.
I hope,she’ll react to it
On Hold is in my top 5 Leprous songs. It is so deep and makes me hurt for him hearing it.
I genuinely hope you get around to doing Leprous again sometime. There's not many who have listened to their song called Acquired Taste, at the same Rockefeller Music Hall, I hope it's something you pick. The amount of emotion Einar brings to this beautiful song, like he does with every song, is nothing short of a gift to us all.
Yeah, I really like that live version better than any other on UA-cam or the studio one
Thanks for the recommendation! I very much enjoy Einar's voice, so I would definitely like to hear him more.
That live version of the song is my favorite piece of leprous music. I would lpve to hear her analyse that one
YES- Acquired Taste would also be my suggestion
Gotta agree!!
Wow! Was not expecting Leprous, such a cool band with lots to discover. Einar's voice is incredible and his technique is ridiculous, but I guess he wouldn't have it any other way growing up around insanely talented people - must be cool having Ihsahn as your brother-in-law!
And starofash as your sister. So lucky
Tesseract "Phoenix" studio recording or "Tourniquete"... She will love Daniel Tompkins
I agree, Eden and Beneath my skin /mirror image are particularly beautiful. I would also recommend Below and At the bottom by Leprous. These are truly epic.
I agree, would love to see her react to Daniel Tompkins
I always want reactors to react to Daniel Tompkins whether skyharbor or tesseract!
Daniel Tompkins visited Earthside's album as well, A Dream in Static is just superb.
Dan is one of a very few vocalists that I would actually consider to be better than Einar. Though she'd be better off listening to something from Skyharbor, particularly off Guiding Lights; Tesseract is great, but his Skyharbor stuff is just a cut better.
For other Leprous songs, I recommend "Below" or "Alleviate".
I say listen to Symphony X - The divine wings of tragedy, because appreciating Kiske means you'll love Russel Allen's voice
I absolutely love that song, but why pick such a long epic? That song is 20 minutes long. Be reasonable with your song choices. It's better to start with "The Odyssey" instead. 😁
@@theicedevil because it's brilliant and complex and I see she did the greatest show on earth so I don't think that would be a problem
@@viforlaur4446 Evolution is also a good one to start with I'd say.
@@theicedevil Had me in the first half!
@@theicedevil lol
Honestly, this is the cutest crush-reaction video, fucken wholesome this whole thing is if you ask me 🤩♥️😁
Wow! You just put into words what many of us Leprous fans feel about this amazing singer in this amazing band! I thank you for this🙏🏻
So I am from Norway, same as Leprous, and I’ve been so lucky that I have seen them 7 times live. And believe me when I say that these guys are special. They have the potential to become the next Tool, and that says a lot.
Do yourself a favor and check out At The Bottom from their latest album Pitfalls. Makes me cry... And Einar is BRILLIANT!
Again; thank you for this wonderful reaction🙏🏻 All the best from🇳🇴
Yes! At the bottom!!!
You are right about everything, but they are already so much better than Tool - Tool has not a single song that melodically can match Leprous songs. Danny is interesting to watch only from a technical point of view, Baard is not only technical, but also musical and such a charismatic drummer. I also love Einar's voice and style more than Maynard's, but maybe it's a matter of taste. It also doesn't hurt, that Leprous regularly releases topnotch albums - every single one of which has at least several masterpieces .
All in all - Leprous is hands down the best band in the world right now, maybe even of all time.
Hey René!!! 😘
@@jennifer9047 Hey hey, Jennifer🥳
@@reneskarmyr Hey, I gave you a shout out in Dean's new Progcast format video. Uploaded just now- check it out!

Cheers, homie!🍻
Please look into Opeth, I know you would like how versatile the band is. Harlequin Forest live at the Royal Albert Hall or Ghost of Perdition live at Red Rocks are excellent examples.
I second this. Akerfeldt has the voice of an angel.
This should be way higher up!
@@Sorrowpsalm And a demon.
MAKE OPETH GROWL AGAIN!
Well.. they still do when they play live.
Ghost of Perdition out of those two. Also, why not pick something early? Harvest?

Return to the earth
The scream that he did, is a shrieking vocal style commonly used in Black Metal. A high pitshed demonic sounded scream that is full of emotion, pain, dispair and blends well with the sound of that genre. Atmospheric and/or symphonic black metal is a journey. As allways.. stay healthy!
I was thinking it could be a form of a vocal fry , I just love how it PERFECTLY fits with the song. So happy she reviewed this song !
@@kristofersuba2058 False vocal folds. You can scream high and low, if you doing it correctly. As for how fits the song... Totally agreed.
That checks out, they're from Norway. Love her reaction!
From their latest album, the song “castaway angels”. This song showcases his voice so beautifully and the song itself is simply breathtaking.
I love, love, looove...that is someone who feels Einar so much as I do. He deserves all the emotions. His voice is just amazin. No words...
Why do I have tears watching you reacting to singers?
Einar Solberg is just phenomenal at what he does. Every album is so different from the last and one of the best and most original prog metal acts out there
I love how you always can see it in her face how much she enjoys the music ❤ And merry christmas btw 🥰
I was in the audience that day. Will never forget it.
Aah, makes me proud to be Norwegian😊
First time I went to see Devin Townsend Project, Leprous was opening act. Man did they deliver, the energy and musicianship is off the charts. Einars voice is truly something special. I did get a feeling you kind of like it.😛
Keep'em coming, and stay safe😊
Greetings from Norway 🇧🇻
Really looking forward to this one! Einar's vocals are so unique and powerful...
He's very good, very reminiscent of Lee Douglas of Anathema
It's back on! Looking forward to this very much. Since I discovered Leprous a few weeks ago I have seen this particular video at least once every day. Still haunting and fascinating
I keep coming back to this thank you Elizabeth!
A Leprous song that is getting me through lockdown, is 'Alleviate'. That song just reeks pure overcoming
I most appreciate music I can feel, music that gets better as I pay more attention until I have to stop whatever I was doing and just listen.
Leprous is about as good as that gets.
Something I love about your reactions is that it's clear that you listen to music very intently, and not just by verbalizing everything you're hearing but your body language is awesome. You lean into and away, your facial expressions reflect the moments in the music, and then you catch really subtle details I haven't noticed before either.
Screaming and growling in heavy music is always supposed to show emotion. Sometimes it's meant to demonstrate strength and sometimes it's meant to convey pain.
cringe
@@meanoldfatlady5071 how lol
@@meanoldfatlady5071 its true
sometimes it's generic garbage from talent-less hacks who can't do real metal.
I cannot stop listening to “Below” by Leprous. I give it the highest accolades.
Below is an amazing song with lyrics that hit hard.
Saw them live last year. Einar is amazing! His brother in law, Ihsanh, has a really awesome scream too. He performs on 'Contanimate me' from the same concert as this song.
I also want to recommend (the late) Warrel Dane. I think he had classical training.
Nevermore - Sentient 6 live.
If you love the emotion, 'Acquired Taste' is your next stop
Their best song IMO
This song is soo underrated 👌 I teared when I saw it live in 2014
I knew you’d like this song, vocalist, band. You should check out Tesseract. Their quarantine performances are really good. But they have a ton of great songs.
Pls
Oh you amazing woman...thank you very much. 😊 I hope that you enjoyed Einar's voice as much as i do. 😊
I somehow missed this. Leprous is one of my favorite bands (along with Jinjer, Ne Obliviscaris, and other bands you haven’t listened to yet). I want Einar to sing me to sleep. The man’s voice is just phenomenal. And the band is great too (especially Baard, their drummer), I almost love him as much as Einar. PLEASE do more Leprous reactions!
Thank you for this reaction. Loved it! Have you checked out any TesseracT yet? If not, I’d recommend “Of Matter” or “Hexes” (both live in studio). 😊
She reacted to ne obliviscaris, more precisely "and plague flowers the kaleidoscope". She also reacted to jinjer 🥰 awesome videos you should take a look
@@Tramontano_T I know. I was referencing them, not recommending them.
This band is unreal and I would love for you to react to more of their stuff. They are one of the most diverse things prog-metal has ever created. Einar's screams sound like a howl to me....pure bittersweet anguish being simultaneously lived and released into the ether.
Listen Queensryche , Take Hold The Flame", great performance.
I can’t approve of this enough. I would love to hear her take on prime Geoff Tate.
@@jamesvarnadore6642 me too
Oh hell yes!
check out "vinushka (live version)" by a japanese band called "dir en grey"
Also Dozing Green or Macabre (Live Tabula Rasa)
Arch/Matheos - Kindred Spirits or Neutorically Wired
The Gathering - Travel (A Noise Severe DVD)
As a vocal nerd, you absolutely need to check those out :).
John Arch is one of the great rock voices for sure. Love his 2 song album.
Totally agree. But, rather either Travel or Waking Hour from The Gathering's TG25 show:
Travel: ua-cam.com/video/Y46Lft_BZxo/v-deo.html
Waking Hour: ua-cam.com/video/pUKBV8M_XXE/v-deo.html
I’d love to see a John Arch reaction. Perhaps even an ICS Vortex (Borknagar/Lamented Souls) reaction as Einar reminds me of his cleaner tone.
This and Rewind are probably the two best showcases of the pure emotion in Einar's voice. His screams sound primal and anguished.
Elizabeth, you are amazing. I appreciate your complete adoration of music. Watching you feel music and appreciate it with all of you is something I can relate to. Keep doing what you're doing. It's some of the best analyis/reaction content on UA-cam.
This is super sweet to say, Skeletor. I appreciate it!
Yes!! More Leprous, please ❤
"Distant Bells" is so emocional, it's amazing
I just found your channel today! Something I've grown to appreciate from seeing musicians from a certain background react to other genres that they're not familiar with is the mutual respect all around. Especially opera/jazz musicians reacting to metal. It's easy to get lost in the grit and coarseness of the music but to sit back and just appreciate the level of skill and dedication required to get to that level... Musicians can all understand the amount of dedication and work required, no matter the genre. Much love, and glad I found your channel!
Einar's voice is so ethereal, all genders fall in love with him.
I love your reactions to his voice
1 hour ago, Floor (THE Floor) uploaded her cover of Disney´s Frozen - Let it go.
I instantly thought about you, when i saw it combined.
Ah good choice Charismatic lady. Looking forward to your vid
Their song “Bonneville” is so beautiful, I sent it to a lady I liked :-)
Always love when someone Is surprising to see two or More drummers on stage
Amazing group! Must ad some of them to my playlists, such beautiful and moving music and singing. Thanks for doing these guys.
Very glad you were able to get this unblocked Elizabeth! What a wonderful video. You're definitely right in that his screams are unlike anything that's been on the channel so far - clear black metal influence, which makes perfect sense considering his upbringing and the band's roots, although Einar has said on multiple occasions that he dislikes that he generally can't really push his screams the way he would like to and that they always come out too quiet.
"Contaminate Me" from the same show at the Rockefeller is a perfect example of what he means by that and an amazing display of the insane talent within the Solberg/Tveitan family. Heidi (or as many of us know her, Ihriel) as well as her three brothers Einar, Kenneth and PZ (all of which have worked with her and Leprous or Peccatum) are awesome in their own right, the fact they were fortunate enough to have grown up with Ihsahn one of the pioneers of black metal as well as one of the best composers for metal in general turns to no surprise that Leprous sounds the way they do. I'm so happy they have been seeing the success they deserve.
Me too!! So happy people can watch it now. :-D
Wow i didn't know this band, thank you for this video, now i will explore more of them
oh oh oh......commenting before I watch. Looking forward to this!!
Ah ah ah! this was FABOLOUS!! It made me laugh and gave me shivers at the same time. And gave me tons of energy too. You seem a delightful human! You also seem to enjoy so much that I almost feel we witnessed an immaculate coception of sorts ... lol . Thank you for the incredibly positive vibes!
Great reaction always!
Einar is one of those singers whose voice js instantly recognisable and universally loved. I have shown leprous to many of my friends who dont even usually listen to this type of music and they all pointed out how amazing his voice is. Some other great songs for reactions are Contaminate Me (same concert) and Below (official video). They also have a ton of great music that i dont think is exactly reaction-friendly , but you should check out on your free time if you like what you have heard.
On the subject of yodelling, my mind instantly went to Hocus Pocus by Focus. Bizzard and absolutely mind blowing song and performance in case you haven't heard it, I am 100% sure you will enjoy it thoroughly.
As of other recommendations, I would love if you returned to Ayreon! Basically every song from the Ayreon universe concert is spectacular, in particular Everybody Dies (you can see Mike Mills again there), Intergalactic Space crusader, and from the Theater Equation live album , Day 2 is absolutely fantastic!
Greetings from Greece and sorry for the long post 😅
Thanks for checking them out. I’m glad you enjoy them! Leprous is one of my favorite bands.
This song in particular really brings out an emotional reaction EVERY time I listen. Between the lyrics, Einar’s vocal expression, the instrumental tension, and song structure, it makes me tear up.
I find this song (and most of their songs) interesting in that they seem to creat sections and sit in a pocket for a bit and then move on to the next. They like to revisit sections with few changes. For this song in particular, there is TONS of emotion build without much movement. The song itself doesn’t actually go anywhere- it sits in a ruminatory state (which might be why it’s such a taxing listen- like you mentioned early). I like to think about their songs as an emotional journey to nowhere.
Thanks so much for sharing as always and see you next video! ✌🏽
The way you break things down in these makes me have a whole new appreciation and amazement for these artists! Absolutely love it! Thank you for what you do! You're awesome!
Thank you so much to bring a video of this band. They are amazing. This song is epic!
Such a great song, I was real happy to see this in my feed! I have a couple requests:
Oathbreaker - 10:56 / Second Son Of R (Audiotree live)
YOB - Adrift In The Ocean (Live @ Pickathon)
Katatonia - July (from Live Consternation)
Cult Of Luna - Ghost Trail (Live at Scala)
Leprous - From the Flames. Please ! Really emotional song and his head voice is amazing !
Love your reaction, this performance is definitely an emotional overload. I can't imagine the energy being in that crowd and witnessing that.
The Last Milestone by Leprous would make you sit in the corner and cry I reckon
Another singer that’s similar to Einar is Arnor Dan Arnarson. I don’t know if you’ve heard of the band Agent Fresco, which he is the lead vocalist for, but check out their life performance of their song Dark Water
Ayreon - Twisted Coil (Electric Castle And Other Tales)
The original by Jasper is more better
Recorded version is better, but live works for a reaction. Makes more sense
Their live performances grip you by the throat and don’t let go until the very last note. Honestly, you forget to breathe. The whole world should know this band. Their music is so amazing!
i adore how lost in the sauce you get listening to this, i feel it
I think you would love reacting to some Agent Fresco :)
Leprous and AF are very complementary and they actually both toured together for quite a while.
Arnór (singer from AF) is an incredible power house of emotions, and worth every second.
Finally you took on Leprous. Makes me happy when others like my favourite band.
Next step for you on your Leprous journey must be "Aquired Taste" from the same concert. Not sure if I've seen(heard) anything like that. I guess it's my no 1 pick.
Really like your vids, quite enjoyable and educational 🙂👍
Wow, I love how you're mirroring the things you like in his voice by talking about the singing with so much emotion and passion! I'm amazed and will check out more of your channel.
Leprous is probably my favourite band, and that is much to do with Einar's heartfelt voice! I just feel so connected with his and their message... They are amazing!
Yes! One of my favorite bands with my favorite singer.🤘🏻😍 You should check out Leprous: Aquired Taste (Live at Rockefeller Hall)
Finally someone else who knows the treasures in that performance :)
@@42degreesny For sure!😊
Would love to see your reaction to Leprous' Acquired Taste, Below, and Contaminate Me. Plus Deadhead by Devin Townsend at the Royal Albert Hall is a good one if you'd like to hear more pretty and emotional screaming.
Deadhead is a sonic experience to behold. Good call.
Soooo looking forward to this🥳🥳🥳
Such a great reaction. Einar is such a unique singer. Love your channel. You're adorable!
Love your videos, your analysis and genuine reactions are great!
Hot tip: Corpo-Mente - Arsalein [Live at Improve Tone Studios, 2015]
Laure Le Prunenec has an amazing voice that I just can't get enough of.
You definitely will appreciate Agent Fresco, the singer is so amazing, so emotional.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
The world needs a new Leprous react from you🥳🙏
Devin Townsend has the prettiest scream IMO, and also the most intelligible. Love Einar’s cleans so much, and he is one of my favourite vocalists that’s for sure, along with Devin Townsend, Courtney Laplante, “Jesus’s” vocals from Dark Tranquility, and I can’t forget Tom from Evergrey! Tom and Einar have such emotional vocals, Tom has that pained low, almost Chris Cornell style vocals, while Einar has those higher even falsetto style vocals.
Keep reacting to these awesome vocalists from all styles of music! Nothing like finding an amazing musician who can impress you, and pull you into loving a genre of music you might have thought you didn’t like. That’s just what amazingly talented musicians can do, they can force you to stop and really listen to their music and excentuate what makes their music great no matter the genre. So keep showing amazing musicians to everyone, and make people fans of all genres of music, nothing better than getting fans of polar opposite music genre’s to be shocked at the amazing talent and musicality that exist within all genres, and all it takes is exposing music fans to amazing musicians, making beautiful music! It can be a simple as that…
Keep Crushing it! Love your enthusiasm!
Loved the reaction video. Excellent as always. You need to check "The Sky is Red" from them.
Also, I would recommend "King" from "Tesseract". Daniel Tompkins is an amazing vocalist and he released a "live in the studio vocal performance" video this year for this song and others.
Cheers from a Brazilian Fan
For me "The Sky is Red" is their best song, by far.
My Leproust favorite song is "The Valley". Chorus is just motivationally gorgeous. Should be a soundtrack to some movie or smth. Highly recomend!
Omg yes the The Valley is amazing
Such a great analysis of his voice. "Acquired Taste" from the same concert also does a great job showing off his range, musical interpretation, and timbre throughout!
Watching this actually gave me chills. Thank you
Ayreon with Damian Wilson - And The druids turned to stone. You will love all his color
Einar's screams are very haunting. He sounds like the vengeful ghost of an old castle.
Great pick, btw. Your reaction vas very sincere, and I like how you very aware of not just Einar's voice and style, but of the overall music, the intention.
This channel is really good.
lerprous is so good! and the singer is certainly one of the best of the genre.
Wow... You are REALLY enjoying his voice and his emotions... Damn. I LOVE it! :) Your reactions, your eyerolling, your breathing. You are SO into that music.
Elizabeth, if you loved his performance here, you DEFINITELY HAVE TO REACT to Distant Bells (studio version). It's Einar's best performance so far.
Check out Agent Fresco from Iceland. The guy has a phenomenal voice 👍
Yes, those guys make some beautiful music! Quite a distinctive sound, too.
Yes! Can we have some Arnor Dan, please? 💜
