I would just like to say. I personally really love The Bards Song. But the next song I personally would really suggest if you have not heard it, is Battlefield. Goes great with The Bards Song in my opinion.
loved this reaction. an old work m8 was at that wacken festival (im still trying to go haha) . it would be really amazing if you could react to Amon Amarth they're a swedish viking death metal band, i would recommend their song heidrun. my very fist concert was amon amarth ill never forget it. another swedish metal band you could react and id bet you would love the vocals are : The Halo Effect
My first metal concert was BG. It was an amazing joyous experience. I've been really disappointed going to see other big bands with no audience participation. Even Nightwish leaves no room for the audience. Seen them three times now, and each time was better than the last.
OMG - this is the rest of the story about Elizabeth...If (LOL) we weren't impressed before we sure as H3LL are now! P.S. does anyone know how E. is keeping her Rams Horns attached? Engineers want to KNOW!
"The Bards Song" live is unlike any other experience I've ever had. Two hours of having your face melted by (imo) the greatest Power Metal Band ever, and then you have this super intimate affair. Strangers lock arms around shoulders and sway back & forth to the rhythm. Hansi sings parts, but often just stands there as the entire crowd serenades him. It's one of the most powerful feelings of unity I've ever had in my entire life.
ps - Blind Guardian isn't my favorite band ever (though top 5 for sure), but they are without a doubt the best live show I've ever been to. Most of their songs are so anthemic that audience participation happens every song.
I love reading comments like this one, can't believe next month I'll finally be able to know what it feels like being part of their show after 15 years listening to them only in my earphones ^^ 💞
@@WildeGesellen44 Always happy to see young people joining the fray! I sure think you had a great moment. For my part, going to see them for the second time in my life in two weeks. Have been listening to them since 1996. First time i saw them, i was 3O, and it was 15 years ago!
Singing The Bard's Song in the audience in a Blind Guardian concert is one of the most incredible experiences in metal. All the explosive sounds and loudness stops for this one magical moment, where everyone is just singing as loud as they can. Hansi could not sing a single line and every word would be sung.
Seen 'em twice in concert & it is an experience being in the audience and having everyone around you belting out along with Hansi and the band. Phenomenal group to see live.
Can attest. Have been to both concerts they have had in Norway, and they have been the best two concerts I have been to. They did 5 "da capo's" both times
If you're a Tolkien fan and also a metalhead, Blind Guardian is like something miraculous... I think I spent whole high shcool years listening to Nightfall in Middle-Earth album. Thank you for this lovely reaction!
Originally the endless Valhalla audience encore wasn't planned. About 20 years ago Hansi wanted to announce the next song but the audience kept singing. So they just improvised and played along. Now it has become a part of their show.
@@luisnunes3863 It was the Imaginations Through The Looking Glass performance. That whole concert was a 2 day Blind Guardian Festival, basically. GREAT performance and the band did not expect the HUGE welcome home that they got from the fans. I had to find and import this DVD I loved the performance so much. Amazing concert.
Wow, this is actually the most I have heard Hansi sing the Bard's Song live. Usually he just starts with "Now you all know..." and then throws in a "tomorrow" here and there, haha.
Treebeard was my second favorite voice to do when reading this to my boys. Such a great line, because by then you know he has not been angry for an entire age.
Today's pop music is ok, there are a ok singers, there are a ok composers, there are a ok bands ... But in Metal music there are THE GREAT SINGERS, there are THE GREAT COMPOSERS, there are THE GREAT BANDS...
Probably the only one vocal coach I'm going to subscribe to. Here's why: 1. You look so positive and smiling 2. You are giving some really amazing explanations and at the same time it's really funny at moments 3. You are probably the most beautiful and charismatic vocal coach out there Keep going!!!
Completely agree. I watched her analyse Painkiller by Judas Priest and then Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath by the first time earlier today. At first I thought she was going to hate those tracks and dismiss them as noise garbage, but I was pleasantly surprised by how positive, openminded and unprejudiced she is, especially with a music style so different from Opera and the likes. Also really liked the way she sometimes pauses the music and explains little musical tricks that can make a huge difference but for someone like me who's completely ignorant on music theory and such could have never actually noticed. Subscribed!
@@Nikioko Yes, Mercury was a class act all on his own! Love the dude! But there are quite a few groups and singers who can play that fiddle, Dickinson in Iron Maiden comes to my mind, they are awesome live!
@@TheCharismaticVoice the audience participation originated way back when they filmed their DVD "Imaginations through the looking glass " . It was way more organic. They finished the song and the crowd kept singing the chorus. Since then it became a thing. I'd highly recommend watching that version too just so you can experience it.
I think you’ll get this recommendation a lot: If you enjoyed this at all, I think you’ll especially enjoy Blind Guardian’s album “Nightfall in Middle-Earth.” Yes, they recorded an album that was explicitly based on Tolkien’s Middle-Earth. Not only will you find power metal on the album, but also songs that don’t quite fit the metal mold. Blind Guardian started off as speed and power metal, but they’ve become more progressive over time. But anyway, knowing that you really enjoy Tolkien’s literary worlds, I think you’ll get a kick out of “Nightfall in Middle-Earth.”
Agreed. This album is so good, that 20+ years ago, I, a metalhead at the time, played it to my pop/r'n'b listening sister, just because we were both Tolkien fans. She knows all the lyrics to this day.
love that album but my main problem is everyone allways keeps asking reactors for the same 2 power metal songs from it (Time Stands Still and Mirror Mirror) ... and forgets the lovely ballad (The Eldar) or that epic almost operatic (Noldor) that both are btw more into what i believe Tolkien would appreciate
@@galadballcrusher8182 Agree again. Time Stands Still is my least favourite from that album, and I've heard Mirror soooo many times in metal clubs I've kinda grown sick of it. Noldor, man, that scream at the end, the lyrics... That's the one.
It's so nice when Hansi says in german that the audience has to sing a little louder as Freddy (their drummer) will join in and they immediately do! Simply amazing.
"Would make me feel like a brotherhood of Vikings on a ship" You hit the spot of what metallers actually are and feel like! A huge brotherhood all over the world!
Normally the fans keep sinning valhalla for another 15 minutes.. even when the music and the band is gone... so loud that wherever they are they will still hear us ;)
@@knutolabersas5601 They were tho? Helloween, Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, and Hammerfall were some of the first bands that could actually be called power metal, so they did pioneer. It’s true that the PM draws influences from older bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Manowar, etc, but it wasn’t an actual genre by itself until these bands came into play.
YES! I've been hoping for this reaction. I don't care what I have scheduled in the morning, it's going to have to wait until the reaction is over. when you see and hear 70,000 people singing along, is just becomes one of those magical moments during a live show that any fan of music can appreciate. Both are great songs, but the star of the show is the audience. It still gives me goose bumps and just an overall happy feeling. This band has an amazing and immersive catalog and Bard/Valhalla is just a scratch of the surface.
I tried to transcript the few sentences, Hansi spoke to the crowd: Wacken, den nehmen wir gerne mit. (Wacken, we take this with pleasure.) Ich würde euch auch gerne länger schreien lassen. can't forget the last Candle! 🕯️ I heard them play that the first time I ever seen them back in December 2014 was the best live experience I ever heard!!!
SHAAAAAAAAAAALL WE DARE THE DRAGON? MERCILESS HES POISONING OUR HEARTS, OOOOOOOOOOOUR HEARTS The song that got me into power metal. The song by which all power metal songs must aspire to.
Hansi is the smartest and most adorable vocalist in the metal genre. He is such a humble human being. Great musicians, great vocalist! Thx for your reaction and greetings from Germany 🤘
Blind Guardian is a band with two sides. When they are at the studio Hansi drives everything to perfection. They work with many different musicans and vocalists on their songs and the lyrics is an ongoing story like a fantasy book. On the other side they are one of the best live bands i have ever seen (500+ bands since 2012). They are not as clean as recorded but interact with the audiance in a way not many are able to. The Concert you're analysing here was from wacken 2016. Three days of rain and then three days of sun. Many people were tired but Hansi was able to wake us all up there. As a BG fan for many years i have to say that this show was great but not their best. They need their crowd to shine and the more BG fans (who know the lyrics) are part of the crowd the better. Thats why i prefer seeing them on their tour instead of a festival show. In my opinion one of their best shows and one of the greatest crowds singing along is recoreded on their DVD "Imaginations Through the Looking Glass". The performance of the bard's song (in the forest) on that one is way better than the one we are looking at here.
Yo I feel you, I went to so much festivals and concerts and I miss them so much. I just think of the great moments we will be able to appreciate even more after this bad time we experience now. Music will be so much better to enjoy together again.
Blind guardian concerts are spiritual experiences. The last time I saw them, I shouted out all the words to "And then there was silence" alongside them. It was amazing.
The crowd interaction has actually gotten to a point of crowd management at this point. If you have a look at the 2011 version, you'll see that they tried to end the song twice, but the crowd just didn't care and continued chanting the chorus. So that's why he is giving them so much time and talking about his band members taking turns to coninue the song and that's also why he is slowing the very last sentence so much. It's the only thing that worked 2011.
:D they learned the hard way. I was at the concert in 2007 and I can confirm, that we just got in some state of trans on the end and stomped and sang event they went backstage, and maybe after 1é minutes they had to come back .
@@KayiaTCM Hehe, you are so right. Actually i have to say that i experienced both sides. The positive and the negative way. First i went to a concert of the "Imaginations from the other side"-Tour, and they didn't have "Lord of the rings" on their setlist. But the crowd wanted it and at least got it. The crowd cheered "Lord of the rings" so many times with such a passion, that the band had a discussion onstage and then played it. And yes, it was not that perfect-played but the atmosphere was outstanding, the crowd was grateful and it was magic. That was in Hamburg, Germany at the venue "Docks". The second one was the same venue, but the "Nightfall in middleearth"-Tour. Same thing, after the first songs started to cheer "Lord of the rings" in the breaks between the songs, quite sure remembering the last tour. First Hansi was smiling, but the more often the crowd cheered that and the concert went on, it was recognizeable, that he was not very pleased. And i don't know why and exactly when, but surely after the "Bards Song" one guy in the crowd showed the middle-finger to the stage and it was clear, that the band won't take the thing that cool this evening. Strange atmosphere (but yet quite a time before that happened) and the magic was gone. For me it was also not nice, because i got a friend with ne, whom i told about the last gig and how magic "Blind Guardian" are. And additional to this, he is a huge tolkien-fan. He asked me after the concert a thing like: "Uh, they did not really want to play today, mmh?" And that was exactly how it felt. Other Gigs i watched from them where more in the category really good and nice atmosphere, but for me they never reached the experience of the first time i watched them. But of course they are still a really great (live-)band. But i have much more nice memories about gigs, like for example Dragonforce with Turisas for support at "Grünspan", Hamburg, Germany, where i had a talk with Sam after the gig in front of the venue and he asked me things i don't want to say here to get him not in trouble 😉. Of course he was quite drunk because of drinking onstage during the whole concert. 😉 I could tell stories about many of these little things. And i like these little gigs much more then the big ones. Wish you a merry christmas and stay healthy! Greetz from near Hamburg, Germany.
I grew up with songs from Blind Guardian. And it took me years and years to find out that they actually don't have two different singers, but that Hansi Kürsch just has a wide variation of voices that he applies to his songs - sometimes both ends of his spectrum in one song. It already blew me away back in childhood, and it is still amazing for me today.
Here’s a fun fact: The studio version of this song has a guest singer, Kai Hansen. He sings the part that starts with “So many centuries, so many gods”. He has a much higher voice in general, so that made it that much harder for hansi in the live version.
Kai was already popular as singer, guitarist and composer of Helloween. He's came to BG to help them a little to reach bigger audience and made amazing guest performances on Follow the Blind and Tales from the Twilight World.
Since we have a thumbnail, the reaction is already recorded, but I'll still put the lyrics up. Someone will find them helpful. The Bards Song (in the forest) Now you all know The bards and their songs When hours have gone by I'll close my eyes In a world far away We may meet again But now hear my song About the dawn of the night Let's sing the bards' song Tomorrow will take us away Far from home No one will ever know our names But the bards' songs will remain Tomorrow will take it away The fear of today It will be gone Due to our magic songs There's only one song Left in my mind Tales of a brave man Who lived far from here Now the bard songs are over And it's time to leave No one should ask you for the name Of the one Who tells the story Tomorrow will take us away Far from home No one will ever know our names But the bards' songs will remain Tomorrow all will be known And you're not alone So don't be afraid In the dark and cold 'Cause the bards' songs will remain They all will remain In my thoughts and in my dreams They're always in my mind These songs of hobbits, dwarves and men And elves Come close your eyes You can see them too Valhalla High in the sky Where eagles fly Morgray the dark Enters the throne Open wide the gate, friend The king will come Blow the horn and praise The highest Lord Who'll bring the dawn He's the new god In the palace of steel Persuade the fate of everyone The chaos can begin Let it in (Lead: André) So many centuries So many Gods We were the prisoners of our own fantasty But now we are marching Against these Gods I'm the wizard, I will change it all (Lead: André/Marcus) Ref.: Valhalla - Deliverance Why've you ever forgotten me Ref. Magic is in me I'm the lost magic man Never found what I was looking for Now I found it but it's lost The fortress burns Broken my heart I leave this world All Gods are gone So many centuries So many Gods We were the prisoners of our own fantasty But then we had nothing Who'll lead our life No, no, we can't live Without Gods
They have amazing "And then there was silence" - it is conceptual song, where vocalist is showing his range and ability pretty well. Even if you would not review it - just listen it to yourself. Their vocalist is training his voice every day for decades, as he said himself. And his voice is still healthy to this day, really cool.
The meaning of that song is heart breaking. It’s beautiful. I always preferred Demons on Wizards to BG. Not sure why. I think it’s because I love The Dark Tower.
Having been to a Blind Guardian concert and sung this along with him I can say it is one of the best concert experiences I had. When almost everyone in the crowd knows the song, and sings along, there's a huge power behind it.
Just a little thing, This was also recorded at Wacken open Air. Just a massive shout out to the sound and stage boys and girls there you absolutely make it possible for those bands to shine and for us to scream along to!! Every baseline Every piano note feedback from the crowd you understand and have it covered. Besides the bands shows like this can't exist without you. Hang tight during these covid times and soon "ohhh damn I hope soon" we all will be sweety and beery and shouting our lungs out in support again. I miss you fellow crowd !!
15:30 - "The way that chorus is written, they were thinking of having people sing along to it" Oh if only they would have known then what they were creating. Now they can't get us to stop singing it :p
its not sacred, they are in sacred 2 with a quest-line to see them live in concert...and after that hansi gives a reward to the player. and in gothic there was an in extremo concert in the old camp^^
I can be a thiefling too! We have a thiefling rogue in our party so I have seen a thiefling. I play a changeling bard Gweneal Ainsley they play a dulcimer
All of the other people recommending Demons & Wizards so i've gotta chime in with The Fiddler on the Green. Absolutely hauntingly beautiful song and a powerful performance by Hansi.
Fun fact about the "i am in a video game right now" thing: BlindGuardian is actually featured in a questline in the game "Sacred 2". Where you need to find the band's instruments and with finishing the quest you unlock in ingame concert scene (just a single song and looking back it didnt age very well but its still pretty cool^^)
I'm afraid a single reaction video won't cut it for ATTWS :-D Nor will a couple, that song has so much in it you'd have to analyze it for an hour and still only scratch the surface.
hi Elizabeth. despite everyone is in some sort of lockdown. your world is expanding in rocketspeed. especialy music wise! with all the styles and their outstanding performers that are circling around. nice to have you around also!
It blows my mind to think about so many people from such vastly different backgrounds can all have listened to a song enough to be able to sing it in time with each other with no practice. How many collective hours did this song have to play to achieve that? That's a level of influence and impact that grew ever achieve, and indicative of the kind of love the metal community has
I remember the Blind Guardian Festival back in 2003, where the crowd kept singing the Valhalla-Chorus for about 30 minutes straight, not being able to be stopped even by Hansi, so their show lasted this half hour longer. Have been to many BG-Shows and yes, they are very engaged with the audience, making their shows a really great experience. If you like Hansis voice, you should look out Demons & Wizards (a sidie project of Hansi) - Fiddler on the Green
"WOW" and smile on her face.. That is exactly how I reacted first time hearing this song 20 years ago and still having same feelings towards Blind Guardian ♥
sadly its cuz a lot of people state side have this aversion to power metal and symphonic bands. Its all death metal, thats like all everyone listens to and it sucks lmao
@@jfourney8913 very true! I've actually cut a lot of American bands out of my playlist and have been playing strictly European bands (Nightwish, Within Temptation, Blind Guardian, Heilung). So many of the current American bands are cookie cutter bands.
That song is such an epic trip. Those last few lead guitar notes on the Tokyo Tales performance are so mystical, distant and otherworldly that they may as well be coming from the actual Valhalla. If I could get that guitar sound just once, I'd be elated. 👑
Blind Guardian is a german Band... I am from germany too... I was in one of the concerts in the beginning of the career (200 People in the Crowd)... After the Concert they have brought my brother and me at home... Great musicians, great people... This Band you must love!

However, if you're more in the back, it doesn't sound like this anymore, to be honest. Nonetheless, a great evening and a really cool performance by Blind Guardian.
A couple of things I have to state: 1.) I *absolutely* love your thiefling horns. 2.) Your reaction and analysis videos are amazing. 3.) I *absolutely* love your thiefling horns! 4.) Blind Guardian are awesome - I was at their concerts and this song live was giving me the chills. 5.) I *absolutely* love your thiefling horns. 6.) Especially one possibly featuring your songs? 7.) Out of pure curiosity... what's the best, wildest wild magic table effect that happened to you? 8.) Lastly, I love your thiefling horns and please keep doing what you're doing for a long time! :)
Blind guardian fans have come out to say (even Hansi) that if they performed an all instrumental show, the fans would sing the words and not even blink an eye. BG has some of the most loyal and devoted fans I've ever seen. I'm glad to say I'm one of those
Man, a Blind Guardian show has such a unique feel with the audience. I’ve seen hundreds of bands but that was probably one of the most fun and unique shows I’ve been to
@@TheCharismaticVoice if you want to hear someone with a similar vocal range to Hansi, Sonata Arctica and their lead singer Tony Kakko. Tony can go high and low and makes it look easy. His vocal range is freakish. He has had to change from singing too high because he has a natural high singing voice but can go very low usually in 1 song lol. He has said when he sung too high it felt like he was hitting his head on the ceiling but has dropped to his natural vocal range but only goes high when it's needed. Tony LOVES crowd interaction. Sincerely you need to hear Sonata Arctica.
Well.. you just got a +1 subscription. I just cant leave this channel anymore... btw, a reaction of Blind Guardian's - Nightfall shall give you +100 surprising smiles and +200 "wow" :D
Blind Guardian is one of my favourite bands. Coming from speed metal with hits like Majesty or Guardian of the Blind, they have more and more moved towards power metal. Nightfall in Middle-Earth is the turning point and one of my favourite albums still. I really like And then there was Silence: ua-cam.com/video/yaJEyKYSlo8/v-deo.html but also the newer albums like Beyond the Red Mirror: ua-cam.com/video/klVGR0JZmcg/v-deo.html or Legacy of the Dark Lands: ua-cam.com/video/7bZjrn6IhOw/v-deo.html That is really epic and suits a fantasy film soundtrack. By the way: I also like their contribution to the The Dwarves soundtrack, though the music is written by Benny Oschmann rather than André Olbrich: ua-cam.com/video/F5X7MXfLxEg/v-deo.html Maybe Elizabeth could make a reaction to one of those? ;-)
@@guimich2478 Nightfall, A Twist in the Myth, At the Edge of time... Great albums and great cover artwork. This is epic, this is fantasy. But it started with Tales rom the Twilight World and Somewhere far Beyond, when the music was still speed metal but the topic was fantasy literature already. And, as I mentioned already, And then there was silence. A 14 minute epic on the Iliad. "Watch your step, Cassandra, you might fall."
@@TheCharismaticVoice Well, I could recommend whole concerts like 2007 Wacken and 2016 Rockpalast, but I fear that be too much to react to. 😂 ua-cam.com/video/veiIRX_SMms/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/YlwMmeSpSfU/v-deo.html
@@TheCharismaticVoice YOu mentioned some good old pen&paper rpg at the start. Nightfall in Middle-Earth is an absolute blast for fantasy and rpg nerds, the album is based on the storys of Tolkiens silmarillion and brings the fateful turnpoints of between morgoth and Feanors clan to life.
Wonderfull! I'm a fan of Blind Guardian now nearly since 21 years and for me The Bard's Song (in the forrest) is the BEST BALLAD OF ALL TIMES! Even for the same time. And to sing it along with such a huge audience like in Wacken have been so great moments. I took part 3 times in Wacken and i will never forget.
I hope you’ll react to Wintersun’s “Sons of Winter and Stars” sometime in the near-future. I recommend reacting to the Live Rehearsal at Sonic Pump studios for the recording. Also remember the singer lost a not insignificant portion of his lungs due to a battle with tuberculosis. I and many others regard Sons of Winter and Stars as a metal masterpiece that everyone should listen to even if they enjoy metal only a little bit.
Thinking back to standing at Wacken in the middle of that crowd between 75.000 people and singing these lyrics learned from a mix tape 25 years ago still gives me goosebumps every time I see this clip anywhere. Awesome!!!
fun fact, since you often say "I'm in a video game right now". There is a computer game called Sacred 2, an action role playing game. I was playing it and then one day I just stumbled upon an animated Hansi Kursch. He is *in* the video game. You find each band member, and locate and return their instruments. Then they go and perform the song "Sacred Worlds"... You cannot imagine how super excited I was to just *discover* my favourite band in my (at the time) favourite game. so yes, they are very video game haha!
Watching someone that doesn't usually listen to metal get the same feeling that I get everyday is just truly magical. Welcome to the world of metal! I could see you get that feeling of energy. You became fidgety and your eyes changed. That power inside, makes you clench your teeth and want to go run through the forest and fight a bear or something 😂 We live for that feeling. That sense of empowerment, that energy, that passion. Blind Guardian is amazing. The singer started a side project with a friend, its called Demons and Wizards and its some of.my all time favorite music. If you want to hear his voice then id say listen to "Path of Glory", and "Fiddler on the Green". Two amazing songs from Demons amd Wizards. Also from Blind Guardian, "Voice in the Dark" is a great song that shows just how much range and power he has behind that voice :))
i love how a bard's song can resonate through millions of news sharers, gossip, legend, .. history.... truth brings them all together like brothers and sisters... from just....one....song.
Blind Guardian are legendary, especially in Germany. This performance shows the power of live music. Also check out Orden Ogan - The Things We Believe In.
"Into the Storm" and "Mirror Mirror" are from their Tolkien inspired album, please check those out! Also, "Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns)" and "Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill)" Hell just do the whole album, he actually does some bard bits in between songs.
Valhalla is from the very early days, when they were definitely more speed metal. The more hymnic power metal / epic metal developed from there. Also, I think the continuous chanting at the end of Valhalla developed over time. The song ends with this calm part, but when performed live the audience just wouldn't stop chanting the chorus. At first the band was bewildered in a good way. Then it became a staple, that the band starts again to keep it going even longer to celebrate the connection with the fans.
Hey, I was in that audience 😄 Do you think you have been in a concert with great audience participation, but have never experienced The Bard's Song live? Then you know nothing! Honestly - I have never felt anything like this. Tens of thousands of people chanting a long to this lovely ballad from the first to the very last row, barely hearing yor own voice... it was unique and epic and I will cherrish it in my heart forever

So true and that is why BG show was one of the best in my life it was like the show with the crowd not for the crowd
My first metal concert was BG. It was an amazing joyous experience. I've been really disappointed going to see other big bands with no audience participation. Even Nightwish leaves no room for the audience. Seen them three times now, and each time was better than the last.
Whenever I see them live, and it's been a few times, I know don't need to speak the next day and it's totally worth it. 🖤
"The Bards Song" is not just a song, it is a hymn.
I was in the audience during the concert. Still gives me goosebumps.

It´s a hymn and also Hansi did not show his full potential here :-)

I mean, it's been stuck in my head since I recorded this. I would LOVE to go to a Blind Guardian concert to experience this.
Been lucky enough to sing Bard's song in a concert with the audience. Pure magic...

"Nighfall..." is an eternal classic from start to finish. Not a single weak song on it.
love that album but my main problem is everyone allways keeps asking reactors for the same 2 power metal songs from it (Time Stands Still and Mirror Mirror) ... and forgets the lovely ballad (The Eldar) or that epic almost operatic (Noldor) that both are btw more into what i believe Tolkien would appreciate
@@galadballcrusher8182 Agree again. Time Stands Still is my least favourite from that album, and I've heard Mirror soooo many times in metal clubs I've kinda grown sick of it.

Wait why did I start crying the moment it zoomed in on the crowd? Oh.... right.... I deeply miss human interaction and being able to go to concerts...
Yo I feel you, I went to so much festivals and concerts and I miss them so much. I just think of the great moments we will be able to appreciate even more after this bad time we experience now. Music will be so much better to enjoy together again.
I feel the same way! Concerts always give the power and energy to move on! I miss it so much
Legends say the Crowd is still chanting 😎
hahaha I believe it!
I'm still learning how to play it on guitar lol
Blind guardian concerts are spiritual experiences. The last time I saw them, I shouted out all the words to "And then there was silence" alongside them. It was amazing.
The crowd interaction has actually gotten to a point of crowd management at this point. If you have a look at the 2011 version, you'll see that they tried to end the song twice, but the crowd just didn't care and continued chanting the chorus. So that's why he is giving them so much time and talking about his band members taking turns to coninue the song and that's also why he is slowing the very last sentence so much. It's the only thing that worked 2011.
You are so right. I think it was the Live-DVD, wasn't it?

There is a difference between a festival with Fans of many Bands and a single BG concert

The bards and their songs
When hours have gone by

In a world far away
We may meet again
But now hear my song
About the dawn of the night
Let's sing the bards' song
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards' songs will remain
Tomorrow will take it away
The fear of today
It will be gone
Due to our magic songs
There's only one song
Left in my mind
Tales of a brave man
Who lived far from here
Now the bard songs are over
And it's time to leave
No one should ask you for the name
Of the one
Who tells the story
Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home
No one will ever know our names
But the bards' songs will remain
Tomorrow all will be known
And you're not alone
So don't be afraid
In the dark and cold
'Cause the bards' songs will remain
They all will remain
In my thoughts and in my dreams
They're always in my mind
These songs of hobbits, dwarves and men
And elves
Come close your eyes
You can see them too
Valhalla
High in the sky Where eagles fly
Morgray the dark Enters the throne
Open wide the gate, friend
The king will come
Blow the horn and praise
The highest Lord
Who'll bring the dawn
He's the new god
In the palace of steel
Persuade the fate of everyone
The chaos can begin
Let it in

So many centuries
So many Gods
We were the prisoners of our own fantasty
But now we are marching Against these Gods
I'm the wizard, I will change it all

Blind Guardian is a german Band... I am from germany too... I was in one of the concerts in the beginning of the career (200 People in the Crowd)... After the Concert they have brought my brother and me at home... Great musicians, great people... This Band you must love!
Thank you for supporting them at the time, so that people like me were able to enjoy them 10+ years later :D
I was in the audience. It was great! I just don't know how to react to 80,000 singers as a vocal coatch.
Is the crowd actually that loud or do they have crowd mics?
@@senditkevin I saw them with only 1000 or so people and it was so loud
@@senditkevin Check it out!
@@justston188 I've watched the video at least 100 times. Blind Guardian is one of 3 bands on my bucket list to see live, Nightwish and Kamelot are the other two.
@@senditkevin I was actually in the crowd at this Wacken gig. It depends. In the first few rows, it's definitely that loud, although they have mics recording the crowd, for sure. However, if you're more in the back, it doesn't sound like this anymore, to be honest. Nonetheless, a great evening and a really cool performance by Blind Guardian.
and four days later, you can still hear "Valhalla" echoing on this channel... ;-)
I was standing in the last row, and I felt that energy.
It was amazing. No one wanted the song to end.
A couple of things I have to state:
1.) I *absolutely* love your thiefling horns.
2.) Your reaction and analysis videos are amazing.
3.) I *absolutely* love your thiefling horns!
4.) Blind Guardian are awesome - I was at their concerts and this song live was giving me the chills.
5.) I *absolutely* love your thiefling horns.
6.) This one is not really a statement, but a question as I have been looking like a MADMAN to find a D&D stream you're on. Could you kindly give me a link or anything? Especially one possibly featuring your songs?
7.) Out of pure curiosity... what's the best, wildest wild magic table effect that happened to you?
8.) Lastly, I love your thiefling horns and please keep doing what you're doing for a long time! :)
Blind guardian fans have come out to say (even Hansi) that if they performed an all instrumental show, the fans would sing the words and not even blink an eye. BG has some of the most loyal and devoted fans I've ever seen. I'm glad to say I'm one of those
I so would love to be there and sing along ^^
Man, a Blind Guardian show has such a unique feel with the audience. I’ve seen hundreds of bands but that was probably one of the most fun and unique shows I’ve been to
Blind Guardian, D&D and vocal analysis at once, my Nerd-O-Meter is of the charts. I like it. :D
I have a +7 charisma modifier. ;-)
@@TheCharismaticVoice +9, minimum. Can't wait for the stream.
You should Listen to the Album Nightfall in Middle Earth
I really like And then there was Silence: ua-cam.com/video/yaJEyKYSlo8/v-deo.html
but also the newer albums like Beyond the Red Mirror: ua-cam.com/video/klVGR0JZmcg/v-deo.html
or Legacy of the Dark Lands: ua-cam.com/video/7bZjrn6IhOw/v-deo.html
That is really epic and suits a fantasy film soundtrack. By the way: I also like their contribution to the The Dwarves soundtrack, though the music is written by Benny Oschmann rather than André Olbrich: ua-cam.com/video/F5X7MXfLxEg/v-deo.html
Maybe Elizabeth could make a reaction to one of those? ;-)
Nightfall Quietly crept in and changed us all
Nightfall Quietly crept in and changed us all
Nightfall Immortal land lies down in agony
Thank you for these suggestions, and for including the links!

12:37 "metal requires tons of skill", just gave you a new subscriber, this is a reaction, not just saying I'm without words and call it a day
Hansi: „Singt uns von der Bühne!“
„Sing us off stage!“
I was in that crowd at Wacken and it's one of my favorite festival memories ever. Singing along with like 10.000 people really is something else ♥
"I'm in a video game right now." -- Literally happened with Sacred 2 for Blind Guardian :-D
ua-cam.com/video/JyfE55c_ZjI/v-deo.html There's the in-game concert Blind Guardian did in Sacred 2 :-)
that slipped totally past me. THANK YOU
I just wanted to write this :-)
I hope you’ll react to Wintersun’s “Sons of Winter and Stars” sometime in the near-future.
Yes please i second that :)
Aye!
"I like hansis voice" 4/5 of the video crowd singing .. classic guardian
Finding, listening to, and enjoying Hansi . . . gives you *instant* credibility. Totes following your page now.
Ah, wonderful memories! :D :D
"There is some kind of stickiness to the chorus, something people would sing along"
Me: Oh, just wait for it. :-)
I am telling you...you are making 2020 a better year...keep it up elizabeth
It's no wonder that their albums always feel like whole tales in themselfes. Love them so much. One of the ultimate live perfomances for the fans
It is kind of magical how we will never forget the lyrics.
Oh and that "stickiness"
Laughs in Valhalla xD
i love how a bard's song can resonate through millions of news sharers, gossip, legend, .. history.... truth brings them all together like brothers and sisters... from just....one....song.
The bard& song Will remain......
If you want the most bombastic, operatic Blind Guardian, listen to their 14 minute magnum opus, And Then There Was Silence.
Blind Guardian are legendary, especially in Germany. This performance shows the power of live music.
Also check out Orden Ogan - The Things We Believe In.
Orden ogan are soooo underrated! Love them so much😊
HIGHLY recommend Fiddler on the Green by Demons and Wizards, another band Hansi is in. Really shows him flex his vocal range.
RIP D&W
"I wana hear Hansi more." Me: "not gona happen with this songs" >_
"Into the Storm" and "Mirror Mirror" are from their Tolkien inspired album, please check those out! Also, "Noldor (Dead Winter Reigns)" and "Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill)" Hell just do the whole album, he actually does some bard bits in between songs.
I was hoping someone will mention Noldor, thank you!
I was thinking about Nightfall.. which is very melodic and powerfull
Their concerts are something else to experience. Helps that they also have an incredibly loyal fanbase. Every song you want to sing along
Being The Bard's Song and Valhalla from when Hansi was also the bassist(until 96), it's always beaultiful to see the diference today.
Hey, I was in that audience 😄
Do you think you have been in a concert with great audience participation, but have never experienced The Bard's Song live? Then you know nothing! Honestly - I have never felt anything like this. Tens of thousands of people chanting a long to this lovely ballad from the first to the very last row, barely hearing yor own voice...
it was unique and epic and I will cherrish it in my heart forever
One of the most powerful voices in metal. Blind Guardian is a flawless live performance.
Can't believe I missed this one! I would recommend "Nightfall" by Blind Guardian as another really good example of Hansi
It's Goosebump time standing in the crowd during the Bardsong and singing along - I have done it more than once ... love it ...
