I dont care if it's a hoax, I love stories like this, especially when they're framed so solidly in reality. It's entertaining. The fact that you're not able to trust something so important as a camera is terrifying. It serves for a fantastic narrative and horror story.
I don't. They are boring and totally take away any intrigue from the mystery - I want real shit that will scare me, not a hoax or ARG. It's not entertaining at all. I want reality, not fiction.
@@Wackaz then why are you watching videos you're sure are a hoax? I didn't ask whether you liked it or not. I was just making a comment that I personally don't mind.
1. This is fake, I used to sell, install and maintain security cameras, including wireless Zmodo branded ones, you definetly have the option to disable motion detection and record continuously. With a 1TB hard disk, a 2MP camera (most commonly used) will record 4 months of continuous video at 1080p. An 8MP 4k security camera (extremely rare) will record for a month. In fact back in 2016 most wireless Zmodo cameras were 720p. 2. On top of that if the cameras were setup to only record on motion detection they would record a VIDEO! Not still photos. In fact they would record footage from 5 minutes before it detected any motion (the DVR records continuously even on Motion detection and deletes the videos after a certain period). 3. It doesnt matter what app you use to view the recording or watch the stream, you would never lose the videos if you changed apps, because the VIDEO IS STORED IN THE DVR!! The app only connects via p2p to stream the video from the dvr into your phone. The app does not store the video on your phone, unless you download a certain clip.
I can imagine this person isn't really all that tech-savvy, as they're talking about how the app 'changed' and they're only sharing stills, they don't seem like someone who knows that you should a.) change the default password for wifi cameras and b.) how to go through settings and set up a camera to record. My dad's had security cameras for our property for years, he stores a lot of construction equipment and they help monitor the comings and goings of the people he employs, works with, etc. I think OP didn't know how to set shit up properly and wasn't about to admit that he screwed up some setting(hell he could have even set up his own phone to take stills every time the phone failed to unlock). He never shows us a screenshot of the app--and the cameras are totally hackable if you've set up Password123 as the password then figured it's totes secure--like I bet you can even save stills from your phone to the app/device. Why not share video? Why not double check all their wifi and camera settings after the first instance of obviously-inserted photo? So I would say--Fake in that OP clearly isn't able to manage settings correctly, and is probably misinterpreting stuff as paranormal when really OP needs to brush up on their wifi security. It's like if I was one of those parents who kept the wifi password default on a camera or something and then when it was logged into by a random stranger I went "oh my god the camera's haunted!"

I'm an Electrical Engineer that has installed dozens of security systems & hundreds of sensors & cams. Although I've never installed Zmodos in particular, here's what I know: - There is no way in Hell for anyone to approach, unmount & move the cam around without getting caught by it. Not even a ghost, since the cam's motion itself would trigger an alarm. But! Like I said I don't know those cams, but if they don't send alarms upon video loss/disconnections, then I guess it's doable if they're switched off before someone enters their visual range. - There is no way he's picking up some neighbor's cam, as someone commented. Seeing neighbor's cam (which is connected to a different router) is as possible as it is to see a random cam from the other side of the planet: not possible at all. (Also, why would his neighbor have CCTV cams on his bed? 😛) So, what are the possibilities? - He's lying. - He's using Zmodo's cloud storage instead of a DVR, from which he received some old snapshots from, I don't know, when he was testing/setting the cam on his bed? Although it sounds weird & it's probably a rare glitch, something similar has happened to me personally (albeit only once). I was installing an IP/cloud cam & when I got it online, I received snapshots of a workbench, the factory & the guy that presumably was testing it. - The app itself &/or the previously stored snapshots are messed up & out of order (perhaps due to wrong timestamps or whatever), so he's seeing older snapshots as new. - The ghost of a hacker or a cat burglar (no pun intended) is haunting him. 😱 Although I'm a cynical, skeptical Engineer, I can't dismiss that last possibility. You see, my own cams have caught some weird crap over the years, at my in-the-middle-of-nowhere home. Who knows...
Do you think it’s possible to send false footage to the app or camera? Basically hack the camera or app to edit videos or images, or even send new footage entirely?
This justifies my paranoia and distrust of anything "stored on the cloud". Hell, all "cloud storage" even means is "our corporation will be able to access anything on your computer*" *short of any sort of extensive software design, I know there's plenty of people who will go the extra mile with shit like VPN's and similar things that encrypt the data better, but for the average person, all cloud storage means is "sign here and trust us to have access to all your data, and we pinky promise never to delete your data if it takes up too much space or becomes an inconvenience(and you can TOOOOOTALLY trust us, right? It's not like silicon Valley isn't constantly "leaking" or losing data to hackers and rival entities") Fuck cloud storage. If I get security cameras on my house the last thing I want is amy sort of internet connection running them together.
I had instant doubts when none of the cameras ever recorded anything but the creepy pictures shown in the video. Also "nah I'm not gonna unplug my fan or light to plug this camera in, it's not like someone is apparently sneaking around my house even while I'm home!"

This is probably a hoax, because if you check out FlexGunship's account he posts fake scary stories on subs like r/nosleep and r/shortscarystories, so this was probably one of the scary stories that he wrote that he decided to continue due to popularity
I agree. Also the fact that his thread was moved or continued in the paranormal subreddit. Letsnotmeet is for true stories and events, not the "fake but real" style that nosleep is supposed to be.
@Major Cbass Also, they could have easily used extension cords to take the pictures that were either inside or in the forest. Or maybe they just took normal pictures and photoshopped it so that the quality looked like something a camera would take
@@blue---monday Mellyanda Ratu I think he might've wanted to make up a convincing story to post on r/letsnotmeet for Reddit karma because his older stories didn't gain a lot of karma. Stories like his are very common on subs like r/nosleep, but they're uncommon on r/letsnotmeet due to the fact that the stories there are usually real, and when they're made up they're usually not as extreme as FlexGunship's story, cause they're trying to be convincingly real. FlexGunship probably just wanted karma and attention, like most redditors do, but decided that making very realistic fake stories on subreddits for that kind of thing was not getting him enough karma, and that posting one of his very convincing fake stories to letsnotmeet would probably gain more traction and give him lots of attention and Reddit karma, which it did.
Obvious fabrication, and not even a good one... "Someone got into my house and moved all of my cameras, let me just STAY HERE and also WALK AROUND NAKED" come on, man
There is also the possibility that the camera was never moved at all. It's possible that someone was able to override the signal by using another camera. If the intent was to mess with this person, that would be far easier than all the nuanced installation and moving around of the original camera.
I have problems with these "stories" where a person continues to live and SLEEP in the house. You can't expect people to accept the idea you genuinely believe someone is gaining access to your home AND you continue to live there. It's ridiculous.
honestly I think more characters should be portrayed as having a hard background because that will absolutely give you the horror movie idiot personality, because you're used to brushing things off and having to survive when afraid. I have a lot of trauma and I would absolutely die in a horror movie
It's kind of the point The paranormal board writers and those who visit it go to get scared and you don't really expect something true It's just good writing most the time
If the post is true, they could have had the camera somewhere else (say the front of the house) just not included it's footage as there wasn't anything of note on it
Smugumin the second camera I believe was just unplugged and in the house but that still means that he could’ve just plugged it into somewhere and taken the pictures (also the fact that this guy was behaving just like a character in a movie or something says a lot lmao)
You know what really kills this story for me? The fact that it started with scratching and actually catching someone doing it, but immidiately after we are told to forget all about it and hear about some weird unexplainable phenomenon going on.
"Oh it's probably just some kid messing with me, good thing I don't care enough to catch them. Oh, cops said theres someone living in my walls, guess I'll just uninstall the cameras so if i get attacked theres no evidence"
Yeah, when it’s a person I would never stay there. But I literally had a weird experience in my home last night (I saw my partner approach me and stop in the hallway. When I looked up at the movement no one was there, and he was asleep in the other room). I woke him up and we searched the place, police style, armed, attic and all. No one here but us. This place has had quirks the whole time, but as I’m not a believer in the supernatural, I am not going to forefit my home to an imaginary problem. The way I see it, this “being” doesn’t have stuff to pack, and isn’t on the lease, so unless it wants to start coughing up its portion of the rent, it can find somewhere else to “haunt.” But most likely all it is is my tired brain making mistakes. Like it or not, the electrified meat we’re all rocking between our ears does make mistakes.
I was staunchly not looking at the video because I’m a wuss so I’m glad you pointed that out, that is the single funniest video clip I’ve ever seen in my L I F E
Something like that was one of my first thoughts, but if that was the case there's no way the camera would be getting shots of the bed without someone moving it, whether or not it's hacked.
0rbital That's what I was thinking. Hack the existing cameras to see when OP is home, sneak in and plant new cameras, make OP think they're being haunted.
I once had my security cameras hacked into by my neighbor and they connected their camera to it and recorded my window to creep me out, but once I got really scared she fessed up
I know I’m a bit late, but working in network security, I can tell you that there are devices out there that will clone your WiFi enabled Camera. So this is entirely possible. A device clones the camera and temporarily disabled it and the new camera becomes the current feed. Then, upon disabling it, it goes back to the original one. It’s not that hard to do. Just a thought
Riis, read about MAC spoofing. Also, when you set up the cam, you probably only assign it a custom DHCP lease based on the MAC, not add it to a network whitelist, so if one would be to set a static IP on a device and disconnect the other one (either physically or by dropping it off the network with a ton of malfunctioned ARP packets (netcut-style)), it would be totally possible. I'm wondering how did they get cameras compatible with that system to work exactly like the other ones did. Probably a fake because of this.
I love how the narrator sometimes pauses for dramatic effect, but what I love even more is that the effect has absolutely no impact on me and many others either lmao.
A better moral of the story is that you shouldn’t contact authorities. They’ll say your house is haunted, and you wasted your time asking them for help.
they're wifi cameras... that shit can easily be faked through the use of a phone connecting to their wifi, then sending a signal to the camera system, and voila, magically the cameras are moving without actually moving.
Yeah, cause the picture of the bed supposedly coming from the “camera” seemed higher quality than the shit quality from outside, so the person must’ve connected to it, make the cameras believe that the phone camera is the real camera, turn on the flashlight in the dark, and make the picture black and white.
I knew it was horseshit as soon as they said the camera didn't record anything. You're going to buy a nannycam and NOT have it set up to record? Sure. Another Reddit roleplayer. Theres also the "uhh..", "hmm", "edittacular", all the ellipses. They didn't even try. Not to mention how they tried to explain away the sleepwalking thing with how difficult it would be, unplugging it, dismounting it, etc.. But someone else is doing that? Someone else is unplugging it, dismounting it, running an extension cord into his living room, triggered some motion senses, unplugged it, put away the extension cord, remounted it, and plugged it back in. Dude sealed his own fucking coffin with his own excuse. And then he just.. sells the cameras? All this shit is going down and theyre terrified, as it seems, so they just sell the cameras and forget about it..? Lmao, fuck this is rich.
Also, the redditor that posted it also posts fictional stories to r/nosleep and other scary story subs. Yeah, clearly fake. I've noticed that this channel isn't very thorough with research and mostly just regurgitates reddit stories.
@@damienjohn Extremely easy to produce basically. Garbage horror channels salivate over reddit posts because of how easy it is to throw it into windows movie maker and vomit out a video their gullible subscribers will eat up. Hide in the comments D:
The motion cameras would have been going off the entire time they were moving about. Not just snapping a rando with exactly no context. Every time. And its clear he unplugged something so he could take angle shots of his room, he then chose the best one. But pointed out the discrepancies after he thought someone might notice.
Is the camera itself mounted to the wall or is the based screwed in and the camera detaches from the base? I got into the logistics of the camera movement, but then he claims to want to walk around naked when he's supposed to be freaked out. Nope, the power of PJ's to protect us from machete welding madmen is well documented. 😜
those consumer security cameras are notorious for having unsecured network connections - I think it might have even been you that made a video about those awful websites where people just tap into random private cameras around the world. It’s more than likely that the cameras just picked up a neighbor’s feed. Especially since that last bedroom shot had an arm in it while they were supposedly out of town. Still creepy but not impossible. That first time was certainly a real break-in attempt though. Probably some dumbass thinking he was so smart for trying to get in through the cat door.
"someone could be living in their attics or walls, this has happened to people in the past" excuse me what??? you cant just brush that shit off, please make a vid about those stories
"Yeah its just ghosts, nothing unusual, happens all the time. Just get your house blessed by a preist and cover all the openings to the house with salt." Police
You missed a possibility, the dude's account has been comprised, possibly through a leak of major company users, People will often use the same email and pasword for multiple services. Doors can be breached often times without much effort at all with simple tools, not even picking locks, slipping latches is really easy if the door isn't fit correctly. The intruder likely has access to the account and purchases an identical camera. This way, he could turn off the outside camera, walk right in through the improperly fitted door latch, do what ever the hell he wants, including unplugging something, plugging in the camera, then putting the plugs back how they were, or just using a power pack to power the camera. Mr. Guy doesn't know about the third camera because the intruder only joins it long enough to take the pictures, and when there is a manual picture taken and the patio camera is somewhere else, he has just disjointed patio camera and renamed the third camera to patio. I am not a hacker, but I could do what was done to this guy for 20 bucks for some credentials on the dark web, maybe 30 bucks for a camera, and 2 bucks for a bent piece of metal. Also the intruder knows when the guy is gone because he also has access to the app and the cameras can show when the guy leaves the house. This is why proper security is important.
@@xeinbee161 I guess because it doesn't rely on ghosts playing with cameras. It makes the most sense and nothing in my explanation is impossible. If I wanted, I could make a how to guide on doing this. ... But I really don't want to.
Yes I agree, This is what I was thinking the whole time. The cameras sharing information via wifi signal opened them up to anyone with enough know-how. If this is even real, which it very well may not be.
may yeah I don't get how anybody is believing this lol, the cat is literally chilling there at the foot of the bed while some "intruder" is just walking around and taking some pics.

To be honest just up and leaving the home or apartment is usually not the best idea for most of these things. People don't have that much money or time to just change places all the time or just buy new houses. Staying over someone's place will not last forever. So its either live with the ghost or be homeless and I prefer living with ghosts that just love to play with cameras. Still I don't think this story is true anyways lmao.
He could easily have taken multiple pictures of his mounted camera from different angles to post later to show that it "never was taken down." It's not like any of the images of it have timestamps on it
You did a lovely job on this video, but this story sounds very fake to me; again, not necessarily due to its contents but by the way it is told. It just strikes me as the way people talk when they're making something up, and not the way they talk when they're describing something that happened to them. Admittedly, there were a few parts toward the beginning that struck me as the way people talk when they're describing stuff that happened to them, but the farther along it went, the more it sounded like the way people talk when they're making up a story.
Rainy Jane totally agree. Too much detail and explaining why they were doing things. “I closed the curtains because I like to walk around naked..” that kind of stuff. I’d imagine someone just saying “my curtains were open when they were closed before”
Hey Nexpo, I know this video is old but here is what FlexGunship had to say about your video. "Meh. I don't live there anymore; bought a house across town. Nothing happened after the cameras came down. I got called a liar and got shit on enough to basically just ignore questions. Video seems fast paced compared to real life... Took months for all of that to happen. Weird to see it distilled down to a few minutes."
The reason these stories immediately come across as bullshit is that the people claiming them to be real always act like characters in a horror movie. The only thing missing in the story was him calling out, "Helloooo" when he got home after the "motion sensor" alert. No one in their right mind would go home. You would immediately call the police and tell them there's a possible break in happening at that moment. This is also why all haunting stories are bullshit. No one would stay in a house/apartment/cardboard box where an entity you have no control over is intruding. You would immediately leave.
For the sleepwalking thing There are a few times he had pictures taken while not even home or out with friends. I don't think you can sleep walk and mess with your camera at home while out at a bar with friends
It was a dead giveaway when they said they had no outlets and they couldn’t go without their fan or lamp... if you’re buying all these security cameras you might as well buy a $10 power strip
Okay not staying this is real but I can explain the different year on the camera. They were new security cameras and he probably just set up the time and just hadn't set up the year yet. My dad got a dashcam and it was the same way and still is the same way. (It says 2012 if anybody is wondering lol) and also sometimes some dash cams on cop cars are the same way where the timestamp is correct but the year is not they usually try to correct this though.
doesn't explain why the time is not matching on either camera, he finished a game of starcraft, which can range from 10 minutes to an hour, but usually lie within the 20-30 mark, I find it hard to believe that he had not checked the alerts earlier, seeing as the game is not full focus the entire time, and with our assuming range of anywhere between 15 to 40 minutes, which could account for differing game factors, also since he had technical difficulties, we can assume he lost 5 minutes, so using the 15 minute number, he would have had to start the game at 9:26pm ish, and that would be well past the timestamp of the original pictures that were mysteriously taken. if we assume it was the 40 minute mark, that would mean he started at 9pm ish which makes this seem a little more reasonable, but not by much more, if we assume it was 30 minutes, the most likely number, it would have had to start at 9:10, which is also out of the plausible range, seeing as he would have cleared the alerts/checked them before, if he was so paranoid. So this claim only makes sense if the game time was upwards of 35 minutes. while this is possible, it is unlikely. what probably happened is he took the pictures, played a game, and set them back up where they were, which using the 20-30 minute estimate average, he would have enough time to re set up the cameras and write the post. that is assuming that a range of variables fit, but overall makes the most sense of this situation. and it is possible that those sets of images were not faked, and he did have the camera moved (based on the assumption that he is telling the truth, although that is already unlikely due to other behavior). if the cameras were moved by a 3rd party, it could fit the timestamp of the images. Assuming the game was upwards of 35 minutes. That does not explain why the second camera has such a fucked timestamp (after he quickly took still photos to check the camera location). the year on the inside camera does not match the outside camera, and while others have explained this as a common occurrence with these types of cameras, that does not explain why the cameras time is set incorrectly and it also doesn't explain why they dont match up with time zone differences, as well as the idea that a guy this paranoid about ghosts/intruders would not set up the camera. As well as the camera is connected to the internet, there should be automatic time sync (although it may not be a feature). also, why would a ghost take two pictures separated by almost 6 minutes exactly, just doesnt add up. conclusion: this, along with many other discrepancies, make op, almost certainly guilty.
Alternative theory: The camera's software is garbage and he's getting alerts for super old legitimate videos. Maybe the time stamps got messed up and so he's getting alerted as if they just happened, but were actually archived footage just resurfacing.
I have a similar camera that the OP does. It's not the same brand, but I can confirm that I will get alerts late. It will also go off without reason, sometimes many times in a row for no reason, and sometimes will be quiet (as it should be) for days at a time. I believe the false alerts are from something not visible to the human eye, like distant lights flickering, wind or heat, rain gets in the way of a distant light for a second, mundane things like that. I get more false alerts when there's wind or rain (but this could be confirmation bias). In any case, it's ghosts. Sorry to bump a 9 month old comment.
Yes! Look at the bed timestamps. 12:13 am 2013 (Unplugged clock may reset to 12:00 am) Then, as he's messing with the time and date 1:13 am 2016 Clearly, he's in the middle (or software is) of updating the time at this point (first year then hour). Unless they waited EXACTLY 1 hour to take the second shot (after fixing only the year and stopping).
Oh, and 9:13 as well. These are posted on different days. So either he's checking them at the exact same time as well, each instance, it's a fake and he's reusing old ones for later posts, or the software messed up the timestamps as you said.
Here’s a theory: Someone was indeed messing with OP. They paired a third camera to his system, disconnected the two cameras when they were pulling the prank, connected their camera, took a bunch of weird stills by tripping the motion alarm, then reconnected everything. It’s not a perfect solution (depends on how quickly the cameras boot up), but it’s better than the ghosts theory offered by the cops. It was definitely a hoax (for me, that cop ghosts theory really confirmed it), but I wanted to try my hand and coming up with a somewhat reasonable explanation for the situation.
Plus doesn't even think of arming themselves. They totally believe someone is breaking into their house and the though of getting a handgun or shotgun to defend themselves is farfetched. No one in their right mind would sit unarmed in a house that has been broken into multiple times over a period of months.
@Joshua I didn't even think of calling the landlord. He does claim that he went to the police and they brushed him off which is incredibly common for any crime/possible crime, but if he has documented proof the police will eventually have to listen.

I dont care if it's a hoax, I love stories like this, especially when they're framed so solidly in reality. It's entertaining.
The fact that you're not able to trust something so important as a camera is terrifying. It serves for a fantastic narrative and horror story.
I dont believe in any of this but damn the stories are cool
This is my take on it as well. Even if you're into reddit fiction, there's so much better stuff than this.
In my opinion, a well-crafted hoax is more entertaining than non-fiction. Cause this stuff doesn't exist in real life.
This should already be pinned.

I'm an Electrical Engineer that has installed dozens of security systems & hundreds of sensors & cams.
Although I've never installed Zmodos in particular, here's what I know:
- There is no way in Hell for anyone to approach, unmount & move the cam around without getting caught by it.
So, what are the possibilities?
Although I'm a cynical, skeptical Engineer, I can't dismiss that last possibility.
You see, my own cams have caught some weird crap over the years, at my in-the-middle-of-nowhere home.
Who knows...
What kind of weird crap? If you dont mind me asking
One hell of an analysis. Could be turned into a video!
Do you think it’s possible to send false footage to the app or camera? Basically hack the camera or app to edit videos or images, or even send new footage entirely?
This justifies my paranoia and distrust of anything "stored on the cloud".
Hell, all "cloud storage" even means is "our corporation will be able to access anything on your computer*"
*short of any sort of extensive software design, I know there's plenty of people who will go the extra mile with shit like VPN's and similar things that encrypt the data better, but for the average person, all cloud storage means is "sign here and trust us to have access to all your data, and we pinky promise never to delete your data if it takes up too much space or becomes an inconvenience(and you can TOOOOOTALLY trust us, right? It's not like silicon Valley isn't constantly "leaking" or losing data to hackers and rival entities")
Fuck cloud storage. If I get security cameras on my house the last thing I want is amy sort of internet connection running them together.

(given its real:) isn't it still disturbing that the pictures captured are of/on/in OP's bed?
Good to know!
So could that happen with his phone if he's messing with his phone at night before he goes to sleep it would take a picture of his bed like that
Riis, read about MAC spoofing.

I’d imagine someone just saying “my curtains were open when they were closed before”
Odds are the first post was somewhat real (Stray cat or something) but then he just made it supernatural to get more karma.
Thanks to my female friend...
That's why i hate this genre (when it isn't a straight up lie)
I'm really having trouble following this story
he ordered two cameras tho. wheres the second one?

Hey Nexpo, I know this video is old but here is what FlexGunship had to say about your video.
"Meh. I don't live there anymore; bought a house across town. Nothing happened after the cameras came down. I got called a liar and got shit on enough to basically just ignore questions. Video seems fast paced compared to real life... Took months for all of that to happen. Weird to see it distilled down to a few minutes."
Bruh so it was fake lmao😂
Even his explanation seems fake
TreeStain “video seems fast paced compared to real life” that was the dumbest observation I’ve heard.
Or cameras were hacked.... leaving the originals untouched
This dude needs to get a DOG.

and plus the camera dates are not matching. One photo is from 2013 on the top of the camera you can see, and the second is from 2016.

The timestamp on the picture on the left says 2013
12:13 am 2013
(Unplugged clock may reset to 12:00 am)
Then, as he's messing with the time and date
1:13 am 2016
Clearly, he's in the middle (or software is) of updating the time at this point (first year then hour).
Alternative theory: the whole thing is just made up.
Alternative theory: The whole thing is fake and was just used for some easy karma
I love how no one on R/Paranormal ever thinks these stories are faked. They always have to go full investigative Theory mode.
I love how narrow minded so many are.
investigating is more fun than dismissing
Except “investigating” to them always means “asking op questions and believing everything they say”
This guy fears an intruder coming into his bedroom at night and he can't possibly sleep without his lamp or his fan being plugged in?
Plus doesn't even think of arming themselves. They totally believe someone is breaking into their house and the though of getting a handgun or shotgun to defend themselves is farfetched. No one in their right mind would sit unarmed in a house that has been broken into multiple times over a period of months.
@Joshua I didn't even think of calling the landlord. He does claim that he went to the police and they brushed him off which is incredibly common for any crime/possible crime, but if he has documented proof the police will eventually have to listen.
