-when you're focused on a specific goal, ie checking the laundry room, its easy to not notice a still figure in the dark of your periphery. He was expecting something in the window, so he didnt look inside.

to be fair. fear/ shock is a hell of a drug, he totally could have missed him in the corner, because of the panic. when people panic, it's harder to multitask, so he was focused on getting to the laundry room, so he missed the big scary man.

I find it suspicious that all the video footage showing the "intruder" seem to show them as a completely stationary figure that's almost impossible to recognise as human. Also I can't understand why the friend would point out the shadow behind the window in the first place, considering that it is again almost impossible to recognise as human, let alone anything out of the ordinary. It's such a tiny detail in video that I find it really hard to believe that they would have immediately noticed it. I had to squint and stare at it for quite a while before it looked like anything other than three inconspicuous blobs. Love you're content btw

They did know what to look for. Mostly because everything is staged and part of r/nosleep fictional stories. So yeah, the dude that created this story just grabbed the first story he saw on the subreddit and made a video out of it.

If it’s true, it could be evidence of a prolonged break in, where the intruders hide silently inside a home until your paranoia blows over, then they take things and then leave, which could’ve been the noise
The claims of "sleep paralysis" just reek of a fake r/nosleep story. Reddit has this insatiable fascination with sleep paralysis, so it's super convenient that he _just happens_ to suffer from it.
If it _was_ a friend playing a prank then it was probably the friend that texted him to begin with, bringing his attention to the guy outside the window.

I think its just camera picking up weird lighting and dust, cause he never caught anything when he was doing things. It was always someone else spotting it or enhancing it, people are just trying to see what they want to see.
I still can't recognize a face when I look at it. I think it's pareidolia and cause the guy got attention for it, he spun a creepypasta like story around it to get it even more popular.
I think it was the "enhancing" that's causing it to look like things. It looks like whatever was done to the videos caused whatever was there to have more of a form that it actually did. Without the enhancing, neither of the things look like much.

This is a throwback but from what I remember reading this on Reddit the sleep paralysis played into this because the guy may have had a stalker in his home town and would see his stalker watching him from the window. That's why he mentions the sleep paralysis and nightmares not being as bad until he returned home and his stalker resumed watching him. I know this is an old video but definetly adds to why he included that 'filler' information

In my opinion, its staged.
I like to read Nosleep stories and ones that provide pictures or videos are the scariest ones. Their whole gimmick is writing a scary story to make it seem real while the readers (knowing it's fake) plays along with it. They'll usually try to sympathise with the writer and offer any help they could.

Yep, there's plenty of stories on there that are very detailed and well done, but are obviously fake. I think some can be entertaining though. Fortunately the uploader remained unbiased and took all of this into account.
The guy confirmed that the story was a hoax in a Daily Mail article: "How two brothers tricked the internet: Student who captured faceless ghost in viral Snapchat video reveals it was all FAKE"
That article was debunked by the intruder who claims the brothers just made up that story to save face

Wait....It was so scary and unnerving that he and his partner leave the house and stop staying there but doesn't tell his parents? Either a horrible son/person or just all made up. Yeah.
A few years late, but my biggest issue with this is how good our eyes are at adjusting to the dark. Even if something seems pitch black on camera, odds are our eyes could adjust to it.
Also, if you suspect someone is outside your house and you're trying to remain hidden, don't turn on indoor lights as that blinds you to the outside and gives them a great view. Either let your eyes adjust or turn on outdoor lights.

The prank theory? Doesn't hold up much because he was in Australia and we don't celebrate Halloween. Some stores will sell Halloween decorations, and a handful of really young kids will walk around streets with an adults dressed up to trick or treat, but that's it. And those kids have to get an adult to leave letters in mailboxes asking people to blow up a balloon to tie to their mailbox so the kids and adults know which houses are participating in trick or treating so they don't annoy people. It's really unlikely that adults here would prank each other for Halloween...especially if it's not even the 31st.

The fact that he didnt involve his parents after the original bird video and banging noises told me this was fake.
No it does not mean it is fake because of that. The imagines are not that good and he is in a height state of fear so is just brushing it off which most people would do.

I love how people think robbers act. I was a professional thief robbing homes for several years when I was younger. I tell people all the time it’s never gonna be at night. Never ever ever. If I walk up to a house in the middle of the day no one’s gonna think a thing. Trust me they never did.

The thing that bothers me the most here is; why would you wander around with only half the lights on if you thought someone was in or trying to break into your house. If it was me and I'd guess most people, I'd be flipping on every light I passed and leaving them on. Logically it makes no sense for him to not turn on all the lights unless he knew from the start it was all a big fake.
Further why would a thief continue looking through the window if he/she saw that there was already someone in the room that could potentially best him/her. I don't think any logical thief would do that, they would just pull back immediately after they saw someone enter the room to keep themselves from getting seen.
The date on the text when his friend responds to the Snapchat is literally Halloween.
I'm sure that's just a coincidence, now back to this totally real spooky ghost story.
