Can we appreciate the research done at 11:46? I read his references and unless I’m mistaken, LEMMiNO: - found a book written in Latin (by Kircher) discussing the ashen light, - hired two translators to translate a passage in it to English and also translated it himself to determine that Kircher made his observations about the light in Sicily, - confirmed with two historians and historical records about when Kircher could have been in Sicily (1638 only), - and, as a result, (is possibly the first to have) discovered that Kircher was actually the first to make these observations about the light. He worked with numerous professionals and historical documents and made a possibly new discovery about the ashen light’s discovery just to give proper credit in a 20 second clip of his 34 minute video. That’s incredible
And humbly asserting that his understanding of Latin is limited, even though his attempted translation was actually quite good. Thanks for bringing my attention to this fascinating detail within his research. :) It really goes to show the quality of his content and why they take such a long time to make (quality > quantity of course). Makes me appreciate the videos even more!

"Your documentaries are legit better than many professional ones" You could argue that lemmino's documentary is less accurate since he is a youtuber and most youtuber have to mix some sort of entertainment out of their videos, lemmino videos generate entertainment through video editing and art style. In order reduce time spent on making a video, it could be that lemmino uses sources that is either hasn't been verified by experts, outdated, first page of google results, and/or even wikipedia even though it is very unlikely. "professional" documentaries looks less well made to the majority of the audience is probably because they more focused on sources and the information they show, if you look at college professor's or experts at something that doesn't mainly involves entertainment, many of their presentations like videos or a powerpoint have really bad art style and/or editing but when it comes to information, they explain a lot of things. Honestly, Herschel's idea of aliens/creatures living inside the sun is an incredibly ridiculous concept, but it would actually be a very cool sci-fi concept. Imagine humanity sudddenly detecting biosignatures in the Sun...
David Brin's "Sundiver" explored this concept. Outside science fiction, the idea has sparked a lot of really fascinating speculation about what non-chemical processes could potentially produce something that meets some definition of 'life'.
Imagine they're behind the solar storms. Whenever the inside builds up too much gas or gets too hot, they expel it through the surface. I agree, would be a very cool concept

Now that the video is nearing completion, I thought it might be interesting to see how long the video editing takes by releasing a quick update every time I complete a chapter. The research and scripting phase is the real time sink because it's so unpredictable. You're constantly searching, adding, removing, refining, rewording, rethinking, reorganizing, etc. with no discernible end in sight. Video editing, on the other hand, has a very clear beginning and end. It's just one sequence after the next until it's done. This man has single handedly set the standard for documentaries on UA-cam, especially in the field of mysteries, since his boom years back every major or halfway good channel in this genre is built off of what this man has done, by himself
It’s rare to find a channel that dedicates this much time and effort to providing high quality content on one of my personal favorite topics, always fantastic content coming from LEMMiNO
Without fail, your content is of unparalleled quality! The subject matter this time around was wonderfully fascinating, the soundtrack is both appropriately cosmic and mysterious in its tone, the narration and research is perfectly executed and incredibly extensive. Supporting this type of content monetarily is the easiest decision I've ever made.
May i know if anyone can explain this quote in a way that a non-english speaker can understand? I'm really interested on what lies underneath this beautiful quote.
This video has convinced me that the apparent obsession of humanity for "cosmic neighbors" is not a product of modern science fiction and pop culture, but rather is something intrinsically human,. The desire to not be alone, the desperation of finding brethren across the stars, even after 400 years of scientific progress, humanity has yet to give up in the search for life in other worlds. It astounds me that even as early as the 1700s, people theorized, speculate, and fantasized about extraterrestrials societies on other worlds, and I'm sure some people even earlier thought about that too, at this point, it would not surprise me of some Sumerian, Egyptian, Greek or Chinese writers made detailed stories narrating fantasies and epics about people out of this world.
It's also plain curiosity. With the knowledge that there are other planets out there -- planets that are similar to ours, and yet maybe their rain flies sideways, or their sky is a lovely shade of purple -- comes the question of whether there are others like us out there. Are they carbon based, or are they silicon-based? Do they drink the same water as us? Can they see more colors? The idea of a sentient being out there with qualities that we wish we had is a lovely one to most people.
A 2nd century CE satire called True History had some pretty cool plot line of visiting the Moon and Sun Civilizations who were in a galactic war against each other before peace is formed.
11:50 Okay wow, finding that Kircher source describing the same phenomenon and triangulating the date with various other obscure source is actually insanely good research. Your dedication to research is truly astounding and I am perpetually amazed! I really hope you consider pursuing a career in academia after UA-cam!
Kircher is an rather interesting historical figure. The entire guys life is just a rabbit hole of just being wrong in basically every topic he touched on in a weird, outlandish, almost comedic way. He really deserves more recognition
I agree, as long as he keeps politics out of his scientific study, research and presentation. The world doesn't need more liberal brain washing contributing to its downfall.
There is just no way this guy looked at a planet with such ferocity that the literal veins of his eyeballs were projected onto the image he was viewing..... He's on a whole different level...........
What a truly special artist this man is, to have not posted in nearly a year and still have millions that wait for the day his new release comes out. Brilliant to see the progression from top 10s to long form documentaries.
Although Herschel's hypothesis of aliens/creatures living inside the sun is ludicrous, it would be a fascinating sci-fi premise. Imagine humanity discovering biosignatures in the Sun all of a sudden.
Technically speaking, with some insane-level heat shielding, you can make a "hollow sun" using the very same thing the actual sun is using - fusion. The purpose of making such a megastructure is questionable at least though.
You know, there’s something really charming about the earlier views of our solar system. The level of imagination that we used to fill the gaps in our knowledge of our planetary neighbors. A part of me now really wants to see these “speculative” concepts translated through a modern lens in future Sci-Fi stories.
I spent this entire video going “God, I wish that was true.” I can only hope that we at least find life on another planet in my lifetime. I would be endlessly giddy to even get a glimpse of an image of alien bacteria. Seriously though, you make some of the most high quality content on the Internet!! It’s so well researched and you take such a reasonable approach to everything! I love your space videos
Not sure you’d see it another planet, in our solar system, but Europa or Ganymede? There’s a tiny chance there. Just a matter of time till someone starts sending probes to burrow through ice.
I honestly belive we will find bacteria in this solar system within my lifetime. If you look at the number of moons with liquid water and how (relatively) quickly single celled life showed up on earth once conditions where viable Id say its more than likely :)

Um melodysheep is in with a shout. But lemino produces the greatest documentaries by far. Directing sounding and animating it all by himself. Will be amazing to give him a big budget with a team to see what more he can execute. He’s on this level for a long time now. But I think multiple offers has rolled on the table for him. I feel he likes the position he’s in right now by not moving to Netflix or any streaming platform but consistently working on what he wants to work on how he wants to do it. Yeah, nah. Netflix with f** it up. Lemmino needs his freedom.
For me, his videos looks both extremely entertaining and very informative but don't just think 100% of the information that is shown are 100% correct. Being skeptical isn't bad, trusting something blinded without verified by an expert or even yourself is.

you're a fool if you really believe Lemmino was the first to "discover" that
Another commenter called @McD 49 pointed out that Lemmino had to
- find a book written in Latin (by Kircher) discussing the ashen light,
- hire two translators to translate a passage in it to English and also translated it himself to determine that Kircher made his observations about the light in Sicily,
- confirm with two historians and historical records about when Kircher could have been in Sicily (1638 only),
- and, as a result, discover that Kircher was actually the first to make these observations about the light.

LEMMiNO update (4/13 chapters complete)
“Four chapters complete! Nine more to go...
Now that the video is nearing completion, I thought it might be interesting to see how long the video editing takes by releasing a quick update every time I complete a chapter. This video has 13 chapters in total.
Many assume that editing the video takes the longest but it's a relatively fast and linear process.

They did, although maybe not as we do now.
Ancient mythology and pagan religion can in some form be viewed as their perception on life beyond Earth.

There is just no way this guy looked at a planet with such ferocity that the literal veins of his eyeballs were projected onto the image he was viewing..... He's on a whole different level...........
built different tbh
My man was having a retinal detachment yo
What a truly special artist this man is, to have not posted in nearly a year and still have millions that wait for the day his new release comes out. Brilliant to see the progression from top 10s to long form documentaries.
I do not care how long it takes. Mans creates a masterpiece everytime.
Well said my friend.
@engineergaming8920 baseless assumptions at its finest
@engineergaming8920so clear that nobody can even see it
top 10 memes. man i loved those days
I rewatch this video every few months, it kind of has a comfy feel to it
Although Herschel's hypothesis of aliens/creatures living inside the sun is ludicrous, it would be a fascinating sci-fi premise. Imagine humanity discovering biosignatures in the Sun all of a sudden.
Technically speaking, with some insane-level heat shielding, you can make a "hollow sun" using the very same thing the actual sun is using - fusion. The purpose of making such a megastructure is questionable at least though.
That’s just like your opinion….man
Not quite as much as a civilization, but Andy Weirs "Project Hail Mary" is about humanity finding biosignatures on the sun.
@@Rakka5 plant people. I will NOT be taking questions
@@Rakka5 Maybe to cloak them from universal enemies and being seen, so they could grow as a civilization without any outside interference?
You know, there’s something really charming about the earlier views of our solar system. The level of imagination that we used to fill the gaps in our knowledge of our planetary neighbors.
A part of me now really wants to see these “speculative” concepts translated through a modern lens in future Sci-Fi stories.
Everyone's talking about how good the video is, but is no one going to talk about those sick bars he dropped?

The one UA-camr that I always come back to check for a new video or update, looking forward to the next one
Used to think like thisfor years until the fear from the Dark Forest theory overwhelmed me lol
You can go to deep sleep content. Thanks to math we know for sure there is life.
I honestly belive we will find bacteria in this solar system within my lifetime. If you look at the number of moons with liquid water and how (relatively) quickly single celled life showed up on earth once conditions where viable Id say its more than likely :)
@@mozan33r71 That math has the underlying assumption that our universe, or everything that we can see isn't part of an ancestor simulation running on an alien supercomputer, we don't know for sure to be able to decisively say what our reality is.
You know when a guy casually slips in a "oh by the way, the history books missed this", his research skills are on point.
Can't wait for my Lemino encyclopedia to arrive
try to do your own research and don't expect others to fill you with chewed up information.

13,000 views in 10 minutes. This man has us scratching our arms like addicts for more of his content. Absolutely stunning and I haven't even watched through the entire video.
Edit: Watched it through. Fucking incredible, as per usual.
Just lemmigo
27:50 There's a theory that Tesla had actually detected one of Marconi's experiments, who was independently developing radio communication at the time and transmaitted waves out without knowing that someone far could detect them.
Did Marconi broadcast his radio all day long? I doubt it. Probably just a radio waves from natural sources
The fact that we only get a few of these a year from you is a crime against nature. You are insanely talented and I get extremely sad when your videos are coming to an end because I know it will be months before I feel that child like curiosity that I am endlessly searching for.
Thank you for all your hard work and time!! See you next time.
well lemmino is all about that quality vs quantity
the fact that when he eventually uploads, we might have to wait for like 3 years again.
remember when people started to say ''see yall again in..'' in the comments? its getting worse from now on, trust me.
Well, this aged poorly.
Lemmino's documentaries are worth every second of waiting. Sci-fi has a special place in my heart, and it's fascinating to explore real concerns and mentality that led to the foundations of so many amazing stories about the cosmos and ourselves. I also love 20th century history and it's amusing to see the impact of ancient speculation well into the Cold War, as space exploration got serious. What a great channel!
My goodness. The sheer quality of LEMMiNO's videos never ceases to impress me. And this one in particular had some absolutely beautiful poetry and cadence in some lines. 3:49, 15:04 and the hilarious 18:46, caught me totally off guard. Perfection!
Thank you for timestamping the lines
He really has a talent for poetry doesent he?
I keep coming back to video for these lines
"a man-bat besat aflat upon the back of a fellow man-bat helivaced by a pack of man-bats" is the best description i've heard of anything ever.
Thank you for this transcription! I was struggling with catching all the words. It is truly an amazing line.
I love how this gets recommended to me every few months. And I always watch it again.
This kind of content is literally too good for UA-cam. You need a Netflix deal or something. The quality of your videos is just astounding. I’ve never seen a creator put this much effort into their videos
Ever watched melodysheep kid?
netflix would be an insult to this quality
@@justsomeguy4260 melodysheep is goat as Lemino but her content is more like futuristic diorama with music and universe. While Lemino on something like documentary or mistery. I would say the top best three are Lemino, Melodysheep, and Internet Historian all of them are really good on what they're doing
@@anonymousstout4759 melodysheep and LEMMiNO are the goat but the target audience is different. melodysheep's videos are in 24fps while LEMMiNO's are in 60fps
Yup such amazing quality. People like Lemmino, Melodysheep, and Good Blood keep this site full of awe.
It's easy to laugh at all the astronomers of the past now with all the knowledge we have. William Hershel and the rest were one of the most brilliant minds. The amount of thought they gave to their observations should be admired.
but it takes no thought to say "lines must be aliens." That's like a gut response
The 1st principle is you mustn't fool yourself - and you're the easiest person to fool.
- Richard Feynman
This vid reinforces that.
@@theolwinkledink When you reduce his entire work and reasoning, especially in relation to what his society knew, to that, then sure.
@@michaeldy2580 Who knows to what degree you’re fooling yourself right now.
@@lanceanthony198 of course, obviously wrong ideas must be dismissed. But William Herschel had a positive contribution to astronomy too. Cosmos - a spacetime odyssey mentioned him.
Been watching Lemino for years. One of the few youtubers I stop everything I'm doing and set up myself to watch his videos. Its like going to the movies.
This guys videoes are much higher quality then some million doller movies I have seen.
I was really hoping for a new space-themed video, astronomy is extremely interesting to me. You probably get these comments so much, but i really believe your videos are some of the highest quality on UA-cam :)
Does anyone else every so often come back and watch all of his documentaries and just eagerly wait for the next one? And just repeated that process over and over
I came across this channel yesterday.. i got recommended his cicada video a load of times so i watched it yesterday.
And then
I subscribed to this channel and binge watching his videos since last night lol
it's like heroin at this point I've subscribed to his channel when he was doing the top 10 so you can only guess how many times I've replayed his videos
More to the point, are there LEMMiNO fans out there who do *not* do this?!? His long-form docs have serious rewatchability legs. One of the best in the business, imo, even if he releases videos about as (in)frequently as Kate Bush used to release albums. 😉 I have no doubt the final product will be worth the wait.
@MRawesom100 fr same hahahahah, here iam again, putting this on to fall asleep too
The GOAT uploads another video
I still check in every now and then. Your videos are art. Thank you for what you have done.
Lowell looked so hard at Venus that he ended up looking at himself. Thats funny but also sort of poetic.
