I'm 33 now, and I don't doubt your words for a second! I literally couldn't picture myself in my 30s, and yet, here I am. Any words of wisdom you can share that were not covered in this video? No lie, having a few years behind me, i've learned that even if I disagree with what is said, there is always something to learn from those who have already traveled the path that i'm on.

Learn emotional intelligence in your 30s.
Getting fit is harder in your 40s, and forward. Do it in your 30s. It'll be easier to maintain than play catch up.
Start saving now. You do not need a new car. Avoid credit card debt.

I use to have the same type of mindset when much younger. I'm invincible. By the time I reached my early 30's. I quit smoking and partying more then I should have and began a whole new lifestyle. At 32 I began running and getting into hiking. It's become a huge part of who I am and at 58 now I've never never felt better despite a few bad bumps on the path along the way. As you get older you do pay more mind to what's good for you and what isn't. Good video John. Always enjoy your content on here.

I got divorced from my 1st wife in my early 30’s. We had a 6 year old daughter at the time and my wife got custody of her. Unfortunately, even though I had visiting rights, I chose to “divorce” my daughter as well. We hardly had any contact until she started college. Although we now have a great relationship, I lost those years and can never replace them. I will always regret that decision.

Nice entry! My 20s and 30s were a bust. I got married at 20 and divorced at 22. Obviously, that was a big mistake but a learning lesson. Throughout my 20s, 30s, and early 40s, I worked in a field that I hated but was smart enough to take advantage of the opportunities which led me to make contacts, finish my undergraduate and graduate degrees and obtain a tenure-track teaching position at a community college. At around 45, I felt like a young kid who was just discovering the world and what I wanted to do and I became more assertive learning to speak up for myself and go after the things I wanted. Just before being tenured, I decided to begin a doctoral program in my field and it took seven years to finish my Ph.D, but at 60 years old, I am glad about my journey and my only real regret is that I wish that I had been more savvy about my finances as a young man. But, that also improved as I matured. John, your UA-cam channel is fantastic and as I have mentioned in previous responses, you really should have an advice/lifestyle television show.

I’m glad I never smoked or got tattoos in my younger days when my friends were doing this. I wish I had worked harder at school and gone to university. Education is the key to a successful career, I only realised that in my 40’s. I also wish I had invested my money in property “bricks and mortar” is a sound investment in the right location.

I like that the dialed down, relaxed intensity of this channel gives off a mature vibe and commands respect.
It highlights the same areas of improvement as the other channels without the fast-paced sales talk that focus on emphasizing needs now vs recognizing and learning style over time.
It makes you take a good hard look at yourself, appreciate the good stuff and move forward from there. Please keep pushing great content.

Good advice for any age. My defining professional decisions and education came in my late 20s and early 30s far later than most of my peers. And to even get to that launching pad took a lot of hard work alongside scores of colossal mistakes both personal and professional.
Never forget that luck plays a huge role in life and there is randomness we can’t control. Have compassion for yourself, don’t give up, and concentrate on what you can control.

thanks so much, john, for sharing your thoughts with us.
as a 65 y.o. male, myself, the various benchmarks you discussed, during the different decades were very similar for me as well. i have had three incredible relationships with the last two being the great romances of my life. after my first loss, at the age of 35, i went through a very self destructive period and, thankfully, i was able to get wise to myself and restore control over my life.
it seemed that the moment, i turned 40, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DECADE. i really established myself professionally and most of all, personally, which lead me to my longest relationship of 15 years. thankfully, i chose not repeat my mistakes after that loss and have enjoyed a life that has been so empowering and actualizing.
my 50's were very introspective in preparation for my, now, 60's. i face these next years with very different priorities than before -- much centered around really dear friends and family.
    thanks so much again.
ps: your other viewers are right -- it all has happened so quickly!! LOL!!

The "Timer" worked perfectly, so I had the time to get a coffee, so I could sit down and enjoy the show.
I hope your viewers heed your advice. Two of my wives died because they were always going to stop smoking "Tomorrow". But as you said "Sometimes tomorrow doesn't come". One wife died a month after she turned 50, the other died three months after she turned 51. They were both very active and tops in sports and as you said, they both thought that they were invincible, because both of them had a number of family members ranging in age from 80 to 90 who were still daily smokers and the one who died aged 51, still had a 100 year old grandmother still alive. I had to live through their painful last months trying to ease their inevitable death. Which they both believed wouldn't happen.
I have never smoked, but I cannot have an urgent operation, because the Doctor's at our largest Hospital say the effect of PASSIVE SMOKING from living with two heavy smokers has ruined my lungs. So they can't give me "Gas" because that would kill me, because of the badly damaged condition of my lungs, from inhaling the smoke from other people's cigarettes. And I didn't believe that Passive Smoking was a real health problem. But I was just plain wrong.
I hope your viewers who are still smoking remember what you said about the tomorrow that doesn't come. Phil.

Great video and great advice. I know if I could go back in time, I would tell my mid 20 self to not be so arrogant and insensitive. I look back and realize there were some moments where I was a real jerk. I have just turned 40 this month but over the past few years I have been working on being more humble and genuine. It has had a great effect on how people perceive me, especially at work. I am well liked and trusted by coworkers and part of my job is working with executive level staff daily. But one thing I would change most about my mid to late 20's is taking more of a chance on doing something different. I enjoy working as an IT Specialist but I have always had a strong passion for law enforcement. Particularly working within the DEA or possibly SWAT. It's not a switch I would make now with having a family and a child with disabilities but if I were younger and single again, then yes I would make that change back then. Have a great day John and stay safe.

People say you regret what you did not do, not what you did. You did what you did at the time for a reason. Looking backwards is Monday morning quarterbacking...but the score does not change. Took me a lot of years to figure that one out. Learn from those choices, they were not mistakes (less say jail lol).
    Time flies by for sure.

I am posting this prior to watching (just as a side note for anyone reading). I was more of a teenager in my early to mid 20’s than I EVER was in my actual teenage years. If I had any advice to give myself now at 29 to my 18-19 year old self, it’d be something along the lines of “DON’T STRESS WHAT YOU CAN’T FIX OR DIRECTLY IMPACT, DIPSHIT!” My political views (for a while) drove me to rely on alcohol and I now know that even if I do drink, I still think about it only it makes me wanna lash out if completely inebriated.

I have 13 business ideas, 2 that i am actively working on but 1 which i can realistically create to be production ready in a couple of months. I have wasted my 20 partying and spending money with the wrong crowds. it has hurt me. spent over 1milliontt just partying buying crap. And it stalled my education and inventions from materialising. it feels like im starting over at 38.

Thanks for the video and advice John. Especially on taking care of yourself! If I may, definitely stop smoking, limit your alcohol and work out regularly. Some of the biggest life changers that will save you literally and also save you huge money in the short and long run. I feel food comes in hand in hand with health, and cooking's not too difficult once you realize it's basically utilizing the same basic skills over and over. And yes, whilst we as males get a bit more slack for skincare and grooming, so very much worth your time for many aspects of life. I think 30s are also a great time to start investing some money into "signature" items if your budget allows for it! - Han

Great, great, great advice! The seeds you plant in your 30’s will be the harvest you enjoy in your 60’s and later. And the time passes by quickly, like ripples in a stream.
