No, he was removed from the Pod to early. The Mother complained about that that he was still a child because of that. I don't like that Joe and the others felt he was unnecessary, because he was. I liked him being there. And Adam Warlock was always an important char in the comics, The didn't do him justices by not having him in the Infinity wars. but that would be because RDJ would have bene pissed because he was the shows top dog.
Spoiler* I like the character but I feel like they needed more screen time to flush out the characters. Adam’s mom dies and they should have used it to mature Adam, there’s nothing like trauma to make someone grow up in a hurry. They just killed her off and never mention her again.
I genuienly didn't expect this. The way MCU was going I was expecting a dissapointment. I was met with a cinematic experience that left food for thought.
The hallways fight was AMAZING. My expectations were really low for this movie and it definitely surprised me. Great choice to focus on rocket’s story.
This is how you end a trilogy it was phenomenal and had a lot of heart and heart tugs I was shocked by how amazing it was the script was on point and we finally got a awesome villain it's been a while I will definitely not hesitate to purchase it and watch it again in theaters 😊no sleep till Brooklyn!!
I thought it was ok. The entire plot was a fetch quest characters are corny the jokes child like and i feel it never ever captured the magic of the first film
Going off of what Joe said about this gives him hope for Superman, I had the exact thought seeing Adam Warlock flying, that go-pro camera angle is so sick and I just pictured Superman with an arm out flying and I know it’s going to be glorious I can’t wait!
I'm a big Adam Warlock fan and I loved this version of him in the film! He's different than what most know him for in the comics but I thought this was a clever introduction to him. In the comics he has a sorta naivety towards events going on because he's so powerful. He doesn't connect well socially with others in the comic also. It's something he grows into. I thought it was a refreshing twist on the character. He's different than the comic but also a lot more similar than people give this version credit for.
I just think hi's incredibly immature, a kid with the body of an adult, even his mom was like "you took him out too early", he can still grow mentally later on. Gunn didn't do anything to him that can't be developed, he just gave him room to grow.
The overall theme of this movie hit me hard. I’m going through a similar stage of my life where friends I consider family are starting to go there separate ways. Building their own families. Moving away. Kinda feel like I’m being left behind. I cried thru the credits and the car ride home.
Agreed. It had everything. Amazing and brutal action choreography, good humor, brilliant villain, and most of all, very emotional and wholesome. This is a movie I think I can watch again and again.
I cried more than I think I ever have before at a movie during *that* scene. And it didnt matter that I saw it coming a mile away. It was still so painful.
That's the true mastery. We all knew it would be the cliche and all his friends would die and likely a horrible death too. The reason it hits that hard is because there was something good to fight for. Otherwise the audience wouldn't give two shits about their deaths. We see that there is something to be cherished and thus, something worth fighting for Rocket.
I watched this in 4dx yesterday. I guarantee that the spinny camera effects have been added for that experience. The panning shots and spinning are really effective when your chair moves with it. However, my back is still recovering from the hallway fight.
This was the only flaw in the movie for me, so I looked into it and found out that Yes it broke originally in volume 2 but the Directors of infinity war and endgame decided to bring it back. James Gunn didn’t like the decision (and also had a little beef with killing off Gamora and what not without his say, his revenge was to give Rocket Bucky’s arm in the Christmas special, now they gotta figure out something for Bucky in the future with that…) so he gave a lazy explanation on Twitter or something and said he just had another one in infinity war and endgame for an in universe answer and left his rocket boots and mask in a drawer in the beginning of the movie. For some reason, he didn’t like the mask much but I love it.
Same here. I almost cried at a few scenes to do with Rocket. His backstory is more sadder than Peter Parker and Shuri’s character arcs in NWH and WF, respectively.
I was fighting the urge to cry so many times, at one point I thought it would be impossible almost cried a river.. tears on the edge of your eyelid… ready to pour like a waterfall Blinking repeatedly helped keep it in That was a close one.. Awesome movie tho
Best thing about Gotg 3 for me is that it wasn't a downwards direction for the trilogy. It is crazy since every other marvel character was over all handled worse or had a dud somewhere in their movies, but the one that most people don't know about kept doing well.
It was good - Marvel actually did good, tons of subtle nods, good coverage of Rockets backstory and it still kept a lot of the human whilst adding more heart. Finally a good marvel movie in the last year
@@PeoplePleaser578 For only a year, yeah you're spoiled. Other franchises mass produce crap longer than just a year, or just cancel their stuff because they can't last long.

I hope he left those doors with a big grin on his face while having eggs on Disney face. Well-deserved. Karma a bit*h lol. Best part this is just the beginning. When James hits it out of the park with his new DCCU. Everyone going to be thinking. "Wow all because Disney fire him over that BS."
@@jonmurphy4889 It even more sweet because before James was fired. He was supposed to help run most of phase 4. Which turns out without him being worst phase ever. Then WB grab him as soon he was fired. Sure Disney hired him back to do GotG3 but it was already to late. He was in the hands of WB who made him the new head runner for the new DCCU. Which means if the new DCCU does good and marvel fails. 80% of that reason is because Disney fired Gunn over all that BS. Talk about a What if story.
I love it when action scenes do one long shot with multiple characters fighting. When I saw that scene I thought yeah, people are gonna be talking about this for a while.
@ShadowSorcery the only Marvel films I care for is raimis spirderman trilogy daredevil movie xmen movies and that's it along with the original fantastic four films and fantastic four remake.
I took my ten-year-old to see this movie, I was crying but she had to be held. There's some really emotional stuff! If you want to be able to tell who's seen this movie, just say "Rocket Teefs Floor go now!" in a crowded area and see who reaches for a tissue.
After watching the film Alex's take makes more sense. The film is pure spectacle & vibes. Very little logic. It's my favorite film of 2023 now, but this film is infected up the bum with the "Rule of Cool" to where characters never die in places where they totally should've died.
I still prefer the first one given that they got together and the 70s music is awesome made me want to view old school music better than I thought I did.
Warlock is way too late to be introduced as he was integral to Infinity War story. He didn't have much to do but at least he has been introduced and next time we see him, he will be ready to rock and he has a back story now. But The Sentry is coming in Thunderbolts and he is almost the same charcter.
no cringe scenes or terrible characters like in ant man 3. I think this movie is one of the best from the mcu. i cried, i laughed, i loved the soundtrack.
7/10, most of the jokes fell flat and the movie was loaded with cringe, especially that last part where drax and the softie Nebula have a dance party with a ton of little kids. Rocket was also barley in the movie, and when he was his personality was dull
It was above average overall with moments of solid quality moments in it. I was shocked to see a literal gore scene near the end that will no doubt give one baby in my screening nightmares for sure. It was a solid but very bumpy end for this team's tenure and at least they walk off to the sunset on this one.
I loved GOTG3, but I'll have to watch it one more time before deciding where I rank it alongside the first two movies. However, I'm glad Alex mentioned the excessive spinning cameras. There were a few times when it made me feel nausic.
I hate how everyone shills out for average Marvel movies like they are perfect masterpieces when in reality none of them have been above a 7/10. This whole Superhero movie bullshit is so boring and so predictable. I'm so sick of it and people being brainwashed into thinking its good. I wish I also had no brain so I could also be a sheep.
Rocket’s backstory was just excellent. What they did with High Evolutionary was different. He’s usually portrayed as SUPER serious…I actually liked him and was disturbed by this version of High Evolutionary. I would like to see more of High Evolutionary where he evolves even more into a cyborg and even more evil and powerful.
Nebula's immediate calm after hearing Rocket's voice gave me goosebumps. She cared about him so much. Throughout the movie she's been increasingly angry I thought she's gonna lash out and leave them or something.
In my mind this was at least as good as 2, but for some different reasons. Both are certainly more flawed than the first film imo but man they hold up with incredible character development so damn well
This one was awesome, I like how dark it was, Animal abuse, lost loved ones, etc. It adds so much to the movie, makes it human in a way since we all die and loss everyone we love. I loved the action and dialogue as well
There’ll always be people like you to underrate good movies like this, not taking it personal just saying we can always count on you to show up, just to remind us there’s always idiots that will undermine quality films This is better than 1 and 2 no matter what anyone says
I dont know. I remember the godplanet in the second movie and I will remember Rockets journey. All I remember from the first movie is Quills mother dying and the infinity stone.
Coming here I thought Joe and gang would feel along my side of things, but surprisingly they were pretty positive and loving of this movie. And after reading comments it definitely looks like I’m in the minority. I’m not saying the movie was bad. But besides the ending and how they wrapped things up I low key kind of hated this movie. This never felt like a guardians movie until the last act. I have some major issue with directions they took. And honestly, I wasn’t a fan of the soundtrack at all. Almost all the songs didn’t land for me or felt out of place. As someone who loved the first two I’m glad other people really enjoyed this film, but for me it was mostly a let down.
IMO, GotG is the only MCU trilogy that's 3 out of 3 excellent. Every other trilogy has at least one swing and a miss. I love the elevator scene where Quill has his big venting session that also seems to double as Gunn's venting session. Quill and Gamora end up in a place that feels right. A great way to end things on top. I was never really a fan of the GotG characters before, but these 3 films are the most entertaining and rewatchable of all the MCU films, IMO. It would be hard to argue that these films would have been better under anybody else. Gives me a great deal of hope for the DC franchise, while at the same time it feels like the time for Marvel's decline has come...
It kinda sucks this is the intro to Adam Warlock, but he was supposed to be introduced before IW/EG. Like they had to do something with him. And now he can grow from being the dumb overpowered shit to a truly great character especially with Magus.
I decided a while ago that I was pretty much done following the MCU as it just wasn't interesting me much anymore, but I'm 100% seeing this in theaters, the Guardians were my favorite part of it. I love these characters and can't wait to see how their story ends
Alex is absolutely wrong on this one. Vol. 2 is okay and Quill backstory is wrong in that one. Ego is a weak villian in terms of character. Ego motivation is dumb. Vol 2 emotional seen was Yondu death and funeral scenes. All 3 three villians in Guardians all have god complexes. High Evolutionary actual acts like someone with a god complex. Alex is just wrong period.
I was an absolute mess at the end of the film. My best mate gave me a hug out of the cinema and my other best friend was also crying. I've never felt so much emotion during a marvel movie.
I like Alex’ more critical tone, it makes the review more round. At the end of the day reviews are opinions so it gives me a better impression of the movie when you hear multiple different opinions.
I fr think he’ll knock Superman Legacy out of the park.. since he’s stepping out of his lane of “comedy” to make the movie - and given the stuff he said - that movie is about to slap.
@@TAGibby he won’t. The whole reason Adam was like that is because as the priestess said the High Evolutionary pulled him out of his chamber too early, before he had time to fully develop. That’s why he’s very ignorant of the world around him and acts kind of stupid. Because he’s basically a child.
@@scottishjedi1522 I hope so. When I heard Superman was going to be younger and the movie was set in his early days as a superhero, and then reading about how Warlock was treated, it made me concerned that Gunn was going to try and add unnecessary humor to the Superman character and play it off as him being "inexperienced." I wanted an older, more mature Superman, but I'll hope for the best that Gunn knows what he's doing.
It did feel long to me at some points, but the story of Rocket was excellent. It was heartbreaking, hilarious at much needed moments, and heartwarming at the same time.
Nathan Fillion being in this was out of left field and was absolutely hilarious. Loved his character in this movie. I actually really loved this movie. It was utterly fantastic. And yes Rocket's animal friends part i knew was going to hurt so damn bad. Lilah and Floor were awesome.
I loved this film. I think the 1st place they went, and the 2nd place they went were amazing in each location by themselves. I feel like the first location was unnecessary though. Felt very side quest like. I don’t think all the songs landed and a repeat of the good dog joke reminded me of the screaming goats from love and thunder. Wayyy better than the goats bc I actually laughed but still, don’t repeat the same joke 4 times. I think it was entertaining the whole time, and I laughed quite a lot! However not as good as the first and definitely not as good as the 2nd which is the best in my opinion. Overall great film. Best since endgame and I think Disney is really screwing themselves by letting James Gunn go.
Haha glad I’m not the only one who felt that way about the bad dog joke. I loved this film though and it didn’t detract that much from it, I even found it funny later in the movie.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is for me a 5/10 rating at best. The best part is where Rocket's backstory comes into play. The rest, including the villain, is dull. Smile a little Yes, but none of the jokes were good. No bombastic finale.
Against the grain here - I thought it was OK, but maybe 7/10. Rocket's story is great, but there's a lot of other things going on that didn't get to breathe e.g. not enough time for the Gamora/Quill stuff, not enough time for Adam Warlock stuff (which I am sad about bc Will Poulter's Adam is great I love him lol), etc. That and a lot of the writing did not sit well with me, like the 'marvel humor' scenes that would go on too long e.g. Mantis vs Nebula in the spanish bat woman's house, and basically any time Mantis/Drax/+1 other Guardian start arguing and just have a shouting match because funny. Also lots of character/plot decisions that didn't make sense tbh, like why take a car instead of a spaceship at a certain scene. Alex is right with it being a mess, but still enjoyable!
They took a car because they didn't want to bring rocket to the high revolutionary, quill and gamora had their time that's why she was distant the entire time. Because she isn't the gamora that cares for peter the way that pre infinity war did. And yeah tension was high so everyone arguing checks out for me. I respect your opinion though, wasn't trying to critique your viewpoints
Yeah I thought it was just decent at best. Better than most of the post-Endgame stuff but not amazing. I agree with basically everything you said here.
@@avastone5539 i respect your opinion but to me yes tension was high. The majority of the movie is a race again time to save rocket, followed by how the team is visibly at the end of their wits with each other (star lord constantly being black out drunk, drax not thinking and doing what he wants along with mantis, nebula being secretly in contact with gamora for what seems like some time). Followed by how their being "hunted" by atom. Feels pretty tensile to me
The only competition Marvel Studios has is inner competition (not even outer like the DCU) like seeing which director/writers room could outdo the other with their film or show.
He gave the movie an 8... that is a way above average rating for a movie. Is the problem that he doesn't absolutely love and consume every piece of media that you do?
@@TheBakerZen I'm not just referring to this video but how he comes off as a smug. I watch other reviewers like Chris Stuckmann and they can tear the movie apart but they still dont come off as just a smug who likes to shit on it.
I had that impression of Alex before, but over time I've come to respect his opinion more and actually take it more seriously than Joe and OtherJoe now to be honest. He comes off as smug, but I think he's not as conceited as he may appear on first glance, based on what I've seen over the years of watching the channel.
Saw the movie and the music in it sucked so bad. It was like your brain on drugs version for this movie. First 2 movies, had incredible memory moments of movie and music that the 3rd movie lacked so bad and it should not have been that way. For music with the moments, is what makes the Movie series so memorable and special. Third movie lacked that special kind of magic. *Worst movie of the series.
*Given everything with James Gunn’s has said about Superman* and the way the character is tied to his own relationship with his father.. The Pa Kent scenes in Superman Legacy are about to be GUT WRENCHING
I came for Alex's opinion of the movie and I couldn't agree more. To me the movie was a roller coaster of bad edits each time you thought it would accelerate it dropped into something mediocre. Some of the main characters became tedious in contrast to previous movies and the scenes weren't coherent and smoothly put together either the start or the ending was precipitous which resulted to unsatisfying moments and so were the dynamics between the characters. There were few scenes it was like to0 easy like the scene with scanning for any weaponry, because we would know everything and anything would've scanned even Groot, but not here for the sake of the following scenes.. Volume 3 wasn't that amazing, but compared to other movies above mediocre.
I thought this movie was a mess. Tonally and narratively all over the place with as much screaming and animal cruelty as you can bear. James Gunn is a talented director and storyteller, but he concludes his band of misfits’ final chapter with an onslaught of low brow juvenile humor and wedged in classic pop culture songs to try and reach its mixed messaged finish line.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was a PHENOMENAL film. The story, The Villain, The Action Sequences, The Emotions…. 10/10! I am very sad to see this iteration of the team go. Each character was done justice & had a proper sendoff ❤
Puts Gunn in a very small group of filmmakers that have directed a full trilogy (Spielberg, Lucas, Zemeckis, Nolan, Jackson, Raimi, Miller, Wachowskis, and Coppola; Peter Jackson looks to be the only one that's directed two trilogies).
@@ericmariscal428 Lucas only directed 'A New Hope' of the original trilogy. Irvin Kershner directed 'Empire' and Richard Marquand did 'Return of the Jedi'
I'd give it a 6,maybe a 7/10. It's a good movie but MCU has seen a lot better. We've seen it all before. The same superhero space adventure formula we're being fed for years. A tragic backstory we've all seen done better... a stereotypical noisy group banter and lots of typical mcu jokes that ruin the tone... boring one trick villain who's there to scream at heroes throughout the big CGI climax battle... cmon guys, we really did go through this so many times. 9/10? Really? What have you rated actually good movies like Winter Soldier or Iron man or Infinity War? On this scale it'd be likr 15/10 or sonething... smh
in my opinion u can't compare Winter Soldier or Iron man or Infinity War with this movie, those movie is more serious than this movie.. its like u comparing classic music and rock music.. not all people love classic music and vice versa but there are people who love both of them like me..
So, I'm not going to be harsh, but I just came back from watching guardians vol 3 and from someone who isn't a big marvel fan vol 3 was the best of the series and the best since the start of phase 5 and the criticism that Alex had is absolutely not valid it's his opinion and that is fine, but he is wrong in his opinion 10 out of 10.
Entertaining and a good send off to the group. Its definitely not 9, Other Joe, but at the most its an 8. The comedic timing felt off, the music felt forced, and Warlock sorta killed it for me.
this movie was so great simply for the fact that it wasn’t the typical “high stakes” kind of situation, even though it IS high stakes for the guardians personally. rocket’s backstory was heartbreakingly beautiful and i damn near cried in every flashback scene. his trauma and guilt is so strong, and yet he comes out the other end as one of the best heroes in the mcu. all of the characters are so much more fleshed out, the action sequences were great, and the strong emotional weight this movie carries is insane
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is soooo excellent. Also, High Evolutionary was an excellent villain and he is essentially the Marvels version of Brainiac which gives me hope that Brainiac will be done similar to High Evolutionary but more akin to the Brainiac that I know and love from both comics and the Superman animated series. Also, I cried a lot especially with all the Rocket scenes. Overall it’s a must watch

Friends come and go, you will create better friends in the future

Just came back from watching the movie. It was a perfect goodbye. 10/10.
I actually think this is the BEST guardians film
It was. And the first was perfect to me. I liked the nod to the first movie in the end credit scene
Agreed. It had everything. Amazing and brutal action choreography, good humor, brilliant villain, and most of all, very emotional and wholesome. This is a movie I think I can watch again and again.
Agreed best one to me
😂
8/10 -2 points for starlord not ever putting on the mask
Except wasn’t the mask broken in Guardians 2?
@@Phanthief95 pretty sure he has it on in Infinity War, which takes place after Volume 2
Oh damn, you're right! He never did.
That hallway action scene was chef’s kiss🤌🏽
I almost shed a tear, it is a must see tho, probably my favorite out of the series.
Same here. I almost cried at a few scenes to do with Rocket. His backstory is more sadder than Peter Parker and Shuri’s character arcs in NWH and WF, respectively.

Best thing about Gotg 3 for me is that it wasn't a downwards direction for the trilogy. It is crazy since every other marvel character was over all handled worse or had a dud somewhere in their movies, but the one that most people don't know about kept doing well.
"Almost"?
It was good - Marvel actually did good, tons of subtle nods, good coverage of Rockets backstory and it still kept a lot of the human whilst adding more heart. Finally a good marvel movie in the last year

Guardians of the Galaxy is legit the only thing worthwhile to watch from Marvel this past year. This movie had me crying multiple times through out.
In my mind this was at least as good as 2, but for some different reasons. Both are certainly more flawed than the first film imo but man they hold up with incredible character development so damn well
Had the same thought after finishing this film. The first one is tighter overall and works best as a cohesive story.

What do you think of the second movie? You know it was a total copy of the Star Trek V: The Final Frontier ? They dont know how to be original.

Saw it on IMAX it was awesome and emotional movie and last goodbye to the Guardians

I fr think he’ll knock Superman Legacy out of the park.. since he’s stepping out of his lane of “comedy” to make the movie - and given the stuff he said - that movie is about to slap.
I just hope he doesn't make Superman a goofball baby like Warlock was.
True. Mcu marks think this movie can save marvel.

I really disagreed with Alex until he mentioned song integration... That is one thing I can say seemed subjectively worse.

Pretty emotional at points, I was happy tears/emotional at the end and it felt like a really nice send off for this group as it is.
I will say I don’t know how often I’ll rewatch it because of how sad it was at times. The hallway fight was fantastic though.
It's kinda hard not to think he's always sarcastic when he looks perpetually disappointed 😂
Hard hitting 🤣🤣🤣
Alex take himself way too serious for this profession.
@@goldfishprime He reminds me of the antagonist in Ratatouille.
@@BFG100 you’re right for personal reasons the topic of death right now is quite hard-hitting but you wouldn’t have known so I have edited to “sad” instead ❤️
Always Alex..I know you have to have opinion..but I would like to ask alex can you make a perfect movie ..???
Why am I not surprised that Alex didn’t enjoy the film as much as the others?
He's the adult in the room and still too kind to this movie.
THERE'S NO FKN WAY THE GOG VOL.2 MOVIE REVIEW WAS 6 YEARS AGO
