Why is no one talking about Nebula crying when she heard Rocket's voice? That solidified her as one of the best characters in the MCU. Her slow development into the family and her crying was just the way to break that news for us.
She was the only survivor of the Blip along with Rocket too. I’m so glad they showed the bond she formed with him.
very underrated moment. There were a lot of emotional moments in the movie but that one hit me the hardest, I teared up fr
They got closed together bc They were only squad that didn't get blipped
When he came to the first thing he asked was 'where's Nebula" didnt even take a moment to consider he almost died
Their similar backstories, similar personalities, being the only ones left after the blip….there friendship is actually goated.
I really liked the lesson they conveyed with gamora and Starlord. Not every love story gets a happy ending. And that’s okay.
Sure but it’s extremely unsatisfying if you were rooting for them
It wasn't "and that's okay" it was "you need to learn how to let go" lmao
The "learn how to swim" stuff was perfect. Peter needs to stop leeching on people for comfort.
@@Clippers16 It was sad but it makes sense for those two characters.
@@Clippers16 tbf that’s a completely different gamora
The reason for Adam warlock being “dumb” is because he was “literally born yesterday” so he’s supposed to resemble a person with the qualities of a young child
Yeah but in the comics he was pretty intelligent after he was born but I see what ur saying
Edit: Holy shit people are replying to me telling me the same thing over & over, I know he was born premature that’s why I said “I see what ur saying”😭😭
@@AndrewDukes he was undercooked here though. They mention in the movie that he was brought out of the cocoon too soon and he wasn't matured.
@@AndrewDukes the high evolutionary pulled him from his cocoon early, so he’s essentially premature
Yeah many negative review complain about adam warlock being bad written. Maybe people expect him already at superior level like in the comic.
So was Vision. Why wasn't he an idiot in Age of Ultron?
i’m almost embarrassed to say that adam warlock was one of the best parts for me. every scene was a 10/10. will poulter’s line delivery and acting was hysterical
Same, I feel weird for actually enjoying his presence. Yes they could've made him far more prominent or do something else but I personally loved what they did
Yeah not every character needs to be a perfect 1 to 1 to their comic counterpart. If a character is well written and actually has a meaningful impact on the story, they’re a good character imo
I also liked his character despite him not being very comic accurate aside from his look.
Definitely agree that he was very underutilized though
@Lauren I hope he matures fast, as he is now an adventuring Guardian under Rocket's command. Here, I feel Poulter is still part of the Miller family, especially with the group hug where he's the last to embrace his new friends.
Adam: “AAAHGHH”
Gamora: “Not another step or this weird thing gets it!”
Adam: “Dont be rash.”
The actor for the main villian absolutely killed it with his performance
Agreed. I couldn't believe how hyped my theater got when the main villain was (no spoiler) doing their villain thang. My best friend's uncle got so excited he grabbed my tight little booty and we kissed hard. I mean, it wasn't the first time but it was the first time to a james gunn movie. I liked it.

Yea we had Gorr and Namor recently but High Evolutionary really stood his ground, so great to watch
Several reviewers have said he is a really great villain and the actor gives a great performance.
Its possible they could make him a Kang variant if they wanted to replace J.Majors with that actor.
Best part for me: It wasn't about the end of the world, or the universe, or the multiverse. It was about saving one guy, and it was refreshing.
This!!! And the stakes felt personal and, for the most part, the story was far more driven by characters than plot points
I literally told my friends that. It was refreshing that it wasn’t end of the world bullshit, it was about rocket, who’s a homie. He literally admitted in vol. 1 he never asked to be like this. and it was about saving him. Man if he died I would’ve been gushing but the story about him was so well done
How about watching more things like that then rather than just sticking to one genre that's overstayed it's welcome
Wasn’t it also nice for a hero to interrupt the villain monologuing expecting it to be a run of the mill “conquer the universe” schpeel and it wasn’t? That was pretty refreshing too. Just Peter’s “I literally don’t care”
@Shlok Waghela How about people watch what they want to watch?
Banger.
Unpopular opinion: Adam Warlock was perfect in this movie. He didn’t need to be the main villain, it helped him understand himself and the world which completely sets him up for his own movie. I feel like he would work either way as a antagonist or a protagonist.

James Gunn really made the Guardians feel like a family, Nebula being the oldest sister who’s the 2nd mom, Drax and Mantis being twins and pushing eachothers buttons, Quill the oldest brother trying to keep everyone alive and Rocket and Groot being the youngest siblings that everyone loves and will literally die for while the both of them getting away with things like the youngest child would most of the time.

Guardians typically has multiple "antagonists", in a sense. in Vol. 1, you had the Ravagers and Ronan hunting them down. in Vol. 2, it was the Sovereign and Ego. And now in Vol. 3 it was Adam and the High Evolutionary. Notably, there's always a weaker antagonist in these pairs; I think James does this to flesh out the world a bit more, showing the Guardians have plenty of enemies as they do allies. While Adam didn't play a huge role, he didn't necessarily need to-- we'll no doubt see more of him with new phases of the MCU instead
Well if you watched the first end credit scene, he's part of the new Guardians now
@@themcking5987 That's why they said no doubt
Adam needed to be introduced though... he is still of the Sovereign race and the consequences of Rocket taking those batteries, (nevermind the hamulating destruction of all the Sovereign ships twice, even if Rocket didnt directly do it to most of them)
and if any hands were guiding the events, this is basically the only real opportunity for Adam to end up where he does.
@@Kittsuera he was born yesterday, he only did what his mother told him but now that's she's gone he can just do this own thing, away from his species
I would argue he was treated like visions as a child robot still growing, seems like they’re setting him up to end up in the comics as a powerful and nice space guardian, compared as to now where he is a bumbling man child.
honestly mantis was the highlight of their movie form me, she turned from an after thought to my favorite part of the team, i hope they do more with her.

@@CloudCollapse i think it made sense, given how that whole scene was about everyone else hates themselves except for drax. she didn’t want to give him a reason to think that he should hate himself, even though he is pretty stupid.
I feel like the point of the High Evolutionary wasn’t to be this big ultra powerful threat to the galaxy but instead a personal threat that the Guardians, especially Rocket, have to overcome. He doesn’t need to be powerful because that’s not his purpose, he’s threatening enough from his sheer presence and his actor’s ability to sell that presence. Yeah his motives are pretty simple but that’s why I think it works, “There is no god, that’s why I stepped in.” Aside from being an absolutely banger line it also perfectly summarizes his motifs. He views the galaxy as imperfect and is constantly trying to get that perfect world and species no matter the cost, he can’t fathom how an ‘imperfect’ species like Rocket can be so intelligent and goes insane in his obsession over it. He does not need some deep motive for his character to work and I wouldn’t really call him that simple either.
how many times do we need to see the same thing?
@@GoodByeSkyHarborLive What
He goes insane because of it because Rocket is the only success he's ever had and he constantly mentions this throughout the movie. He can train his creations to do everything he can, but none of them can go beyond his intellegence and solve things that he cannot. They are just a programmed AI going through the motions that can never evolve. Rocket was the only creation he ever had that could excel beyond his creator, and he his obsession was to perfect that in all his creations.
also... while not explored or stated here, there prob a disconnect in perspective for someone who has lived "to long"
idk, maybe the treatments mentioned had something to do with it. like i imagine his composure tends to wane the longer he goes without those treatments.

I can understand why some weren’t a fan of Adam Warlock in the movie, but I loved the idea that he was basically a 5 year old in a god’s body. It was a decent introduction that I’m sure will be expanded on in a much deeper way as he matures. While the movie was a bit messy at parts, it felt so emotional and genuine that I absolutely loved it.
He was exactly like homelander imo
I thought he was Anthony Starr at first too
@Gavo this is how I viewed him too. I've seen a lot of complaints about his portrayal here and they all seem to overlook the fact that he's pretty much brand new at being a person. They even explicitly mention that he was brought out of the cocoon too early and he wasn't matured.
I do think the whole Sovereign element of the movie felt very tacked on though. Like a total afterthought as Charlie said. Ayesha was traveling with a whole entourage in vol 2, even going so far as to have people rolling out a carpet for her, and none of that was here. Her being more humbled in the High Evolutionary's presence I get, but the rest of the time? Nah.

Many complaints people have about Adam Warlock in the movie just come from people forgetting he's a literal child who happens to be OP. Like he's dumb but also a child who, until his Mother dies, follows her command and doesn't know what to do until he learns about love and compassion from the Guardians. He perfectly fits the movie, especially when you consider this a unique take for the character who is usually depicted as this wise being made to be perfect, which James couldn't do anyways because the MCU version of Vision is an amalgamation of comic Vision and Adam warlock, meaning he couldn't just rehash story beats/elements for Adam when they've already been used it for Vision which I'm glad they didn't. I'm honestly happy we got a flawed Kid Adam warlock in this iteration, and I'm glad James took the character in this direction. He's def a character who'll evolve in the future
"he's a literal child who happens to be OP" yes. that's part of why people have a problem with him.

This version of Adam does fit this specific movie very well IMO, because he forms a parallel to Rocket and the other HE creations. He's a victim like all the others, the damage he creates is a result of the flaws in his making and the fact that he wasn't given a chance to learn and grow before being unleashed on the galaxy. Notably when he's stabbed by Nebula, he gasps "It.... hurts??", in a very similar way to how Rocket's very first word is simply "Hurts". They're children made to be weapons and endure horrifying pain before they even understood the meaning of it.

I stopped watching Marvel stuff since She-Hulk (that show was so bad that I never watched a Marvel thing again until this) but I knew Gotg3 would be the one film that wouldn't be tied to the rest of the sinking steaming pile of overloaded Marvel junk and would be just a straight up good film.😊
i really liked the trope where you got this big emotional scene where a character got extremely hurt making you think "oh shit is he gonna die" and then the next scene they're perfectly fine. Happened with Rocket, Drax, Peter, Mantis. it was nuts and very self-aware

I didn't like it for the same reason, no balls. There is never a sense of consistency with the damage the characters take. they bang against a steel wall and there fine, or their near fatally injured. Disappointed after GOTG1 and 2. Some enjoyable stuff that's flooded in a lot of dumb and at times batshit crazy stuff
I liked pretty much everything about High Evo. He wasn't all that formidable and just sent out his strong troops, which is a nice change of pace. He did have some power over Rocket through, being the only person he's genuinely afraid of and his reaction when he heard High Evo for the first time in such a long time was great. And High Evolutionary becoming so insane and obsessed that his minions actually turned on him (but not in the "redemption arc" way, just turning on him while still being enemies of the Guardians) was also fascinating because it gave his minions some actual, although limited, character rather than just blindly following whatever bossman says
Yeah I like that once his 2nd in command was fed up, THAT's when the rest followed suit. Really shows who they actually turned to for guidance while he was focused on his obsessions, OR that they were all just looking for a reason for a long time now. Treat your subordinates like objects long enough, and the feeling will be mutual plain and simple
Adam Warlock was one of my favorite parts of the movie personally. Will Poulters acting and line delivery made his scenes hilarious. I like that he's kind of dumb and naïve because he was literally "born yesterday" and taken out of his cocoon too early like they say in the movie. It was a bit too stuffed, but it was never boring. The movie opens in such a melancholy way compared to the first two and I appreciated that. It doesn't try to subvert your expectations later, it lets you know up front what you're getting into. One thing I don't know how to feel about is that (semi-spoiler) there's a lot of doors left open. For a film revolving around finality, especially given many of these actors are done with the characters, it didn't end on the weight it set up for most of the film. It even ends in a very 2000's animated movie way. I suppose it came full circle to the beginning, albeit in a different form of melancholy. Everything said, I do believe this earns a place high in the MCU ranking. It made you feel everything it wanted you to and, in my opinion, one of the most graphic and mature entries in the series. Definitely was the saving grace of phase 4 and probably one of my favorite marvel movies, because it wasnt about defending the multiverse, or saving the earth, it was about the bond they built throughout their journeys and saving their close friend along with giving the characters depth and make you really feel like they have personalities. Oh and rocket’s backstory was amazing and gave the character more depth along with his moment with saving the animals was just amazing, and the comedy wasnt like the greatest of all time but goddamn i still laughed a lot well mainly just drax and mantis moments, the ending too wasnt the classic “and they lived happily ever after” it was more about personal aspects with the characters saying goodbye to each other drax and mantis too had an amazing friendship also love how the villain was just a “fuck you all km doing what i want to” type of villain
I honestly thought it was great, action throughout, great flashbacks, good emotional timing, and great jokes at right time!
@ʹ ok
Funny, emotional, kick-ass fights. Maybe it's the pre-Endgame nostalgia but damn, this was good.
I absolutely loved this movie, I went with my husband and daughter, we laughed and cried, it was definitely better than what the MCU has been spewing lately.
I hope people can not just be sad about Rockets backstory, but also portray the message onto the real world
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a funny, emotional, and extraordinary last installment to my favorite superhero team (also had one of the best theater experiences ever with loads of people, a slushy/Rocket figure, and two amazing friends in an IMAX theater).
Just saw it a few hours ago, I gotta say it was amazing. Loved every second of it.
Same I saw it first thing after I got my license today
who died? rocket? Drax?

Nobody
gonna make this short, absolutely loved this movie, exactly how i watched the first one in theatres in 2014, only thing missing was their main theme, only heard like twice
The superhero fatigue is real, too many are being released with a lot of the same sort of jokes and overall storylines and messages, so I'm happy to hear this one is good 👌 Ty big man charlie
This was was good I'd didn't expect much going into this plus nice pfp
@@gra9 ayyy nice pfp too 💚
@@gappy6964 i drew it thanks
It’s not real, lol movie bout to make bank
It's funny and it lands unlike the other ones. They keep repeating a stale and VERY corny formula and it fucking sucks. But this movie actually tried harder
I loved what they did with Adam in this. Actually excited to see more from him
I cried, laughed, and cried again. Actually enjoyed it. It’s clear they wanted to kill off many characters and didn’t. Rockets story was a fresh breath, one that made me cry.
Did you fist-pump the air?
Kinda feels like spoilers on a non spoiler video
@@michaelelmes2135 None of this is spoiler.
@@KhanMann66 I genuinely was going into this movie under the impression that we may very well lost a large portion of the team. So saying that the movie wanted to kill off characters and then didn't directly contradicts that idea. Thus eliminating that tension.
Just seems like a really unnecessary remark to toss into a comment that didn't even need it.
@@michaelelmes2135don’t read UA-cam comments about a movie you haven’t seen there’s always spoilers in comments
The way Gilmore pushed peter him and then had thay speech was so amazing . And high evolutionary guy was scary too you can see his veins with the passion he had for the character i like it .
yooo we got the same pfp

Volume 3 blew me away. The no sleep til Brooklyn hallway scene was so unbelievably badass. Imo everything was so awesome about the movie. Regardless of if every movie has a beastie boys moment this one was so badass. Maybe it’s because I haven’t seen that many beastie boys scenes so it wasn’t overdone for me but I thought it was awesome.
I just love the guardians. I really cannot thank James Gunn enough for bringing them into the light and giving me my favorite band of heroes to cheer for.
@ʹ good for you Mr. Beast. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
You didn't like volume 2? WTF! Everything James Gunn does is brilliant.
Funny how opinions work
@@ChildWithNoContexttrue but this is moist we are talking about here. He can be shown a planet with intelligent life and still find a way to see it as boring and have no emotion what’s so ever. Still love his videos though.
Honestly I find it really funny that the first Fbomb ever in any marvel movie was just used in some random gag
Swear to god I didn’t even know this movie was coming out this month, I don’t think I’ve seen any advertising tbh
Absolutely loved the movie, happy it’s being well received
The visual and musical symbolism in this movie is next-level. It's rare to see that level of film encoding outside arthouse films, and almost approaches the level of Coppola and Kubrick. It'll take many viewings to unpack it all, but even on the first viewing there was rich subtext that worked on multiple levels. Not at all what I expected out of the film, but going back and watching the first two reveals how much was pre-planned from the beginning. Gunn and his collaborators work hard. I'm impressed. The *most impressive* part is that the film can please opposing ideologies in our culture, though perhaps to different extents, since one of our major ideologies tends to vilify Gunn and Chris Pratt.
It's goofy as hyuck. It's also harrowing. And it's ultimately satisfying, in a way that recontextualizes the previous films without retconning them. Plus, it has some of the best fight scenes in any Marvel movie in terms of flair, coordination, and technical wizardry. I'd say this is one of the best action films of the last decade, but it's also a great drama. Plus comedy. An excellent balance.
I don't know of any "major ideology" that hates Chris Pratt, though I do know there are people who seem to believe he's racist against italians because of a fake tweet (lol). I get the vibe that you're trying to blame SJWs for James Gunn being fired, but Gunn got cancelled by the alt-right; Mike "date rape does not exist" Cernovich was the champion of that cause, and Disney just wanted to avoid the bad press he threatened.
Sorry to narrow in on such a throwaway line, I just think that's a weird thing to toss into the middle of your very good assessment of the movie. The High Evolutionary walks a very clever line of being truly evil while avoiding any hackneyed political message, and I give HUGE props to Gunn for not just writing some eye-rolling "fascism is wrong" plot.
@@zuresei I didn't even remember Gunn being fired. If he got cancelled by anybody, it clearly didn't stick, so that's a nothingburger.
But I am talking about something adjacent to "SJW" stuff. I hang out almost exclusively with Leftist friends, some of whom do describe themselves as social justice warriors, and in their ideology Chris Pratt is considered a Christofascist transphobe+homophobe due to the church he's affiliated with. This opinion is harvested from their social media circles, and it comes up every time someone mentions Pratt or a film/show he's in. It's sort of like mentioning elections at Thanksgiving, and that one uncle everyone has feels the need to interrupt and rant about [insert president] until he feels better.
This isn't a major problem, at least not in its current form, because the majority of people I see like this are non-confrontational, and just looking for something to rally around. The worst that happens is they'll sometimes call me an asshole for asking questions. Still, it's concerning to see friends of 10+ years mold their worldviews to fit Twitter bubbles, until they resent people they're told to resent by peer pressure.
Being "hurts" Rocket`s first word made me cry a lot more than I expected.
When No Sleep till Brooklyn played that fight scene was the best 👌🏻
The Super Mario Bros movie played that in the movie!
@@johnnyarbo3 yeah I've heard that lol i have not seen the film tho
I think the reason the villain isn’t necessarily ‘flat’ is because he has a strong connection to the characters. Not only did he create Rocket and Torture him, but rocket is the only creation of his to outsmart him or make him feel stupid.
I actually cried during this movie. James Gunn made me cry in a freaking Marvel Movie.
Me too i can’t believe floor died 😢
same bro
Life ruined
There’s a lot of emotional moments within the MCU. Especially in the GotG trilogy, I don’t understand why this is surprising?
I’ve got to say the music in this was truly beautiful as always with the franchise.
An entire minute dedicated to Charlie’s distaste for the recent Beastie Boys movie craze. While also giving a different perspective from most comic book movie reviewers. This is why I love the moiste meter.
this movie absolutely blew my expectations out of the F*cking water🔥
The reason there are so many Beastie Boy moments is because they are incredibly generous with giving soundtrack rights away which is very rare. Even James Gunn comments on this.
seeing floor the rabbit dead on the ground made me cry like watching the land before time.
GOTG should get award for having the best OST consistently
Great to hear they did a good job!
@igger your talking a whole lotta crap for someone who has a PFP that’s literally a jackass like himself.
I genuinely don’t think “Superhero fatigue” is a thing it’s just “Bad movie fatigue” when the Boys, Invincible, or The Batman came out that wasn’t a issue even tho superhero movies have been coming out consistently since 08😭
The Batman was a fucking banger
As someone who has been excited for this movie since Vol 2 came out it really lived up to the hype. The story was epic and super emotional, the humor landed, the character development was as good as ever, the soundtrack was different but still very strong, and Rocket’s story made me feel emotions I didn’t even know I could feel. I’m really glad to see Gunn go out with such a masterpiece and I’m so hyped for the future. Definitely a top 5 MCU movie for me and a great closer to such an amazing trilogy.
The villain had the most satisfying beat down I’ve seen in a while
I lost my shit with Drax as well. His off the cuff "2nd best" while Rocket's dying was amazing. Or the scene with the motorcycle and Mantis lol
I saw it today. I want to go again. The first two movies were emotional and violent. But with a degree of camp and fun that you could almost forget that until you rewatch it. I'm not sure if this one was darker/more violent, had less camp or a bit of both. It hit different to the first two. It felt deserved though. Was all in character. I loved the ending. Loved how they treated Quill and Gamora. I liked that they didn't try to justify the main villian's actions. They were unjustifiable. The effects team did amazing, especially bringing Rocket's backstory to life.
I mean, I feel like you're wrong about the High Evolutionary's lack of ability showcase. There was a very key point that showed exactly how strong he can be that I feel like you forgot to mention
Yeah that one part makes you question how powerful he really is but they never really show it beyond that.
I think with Adam Warlock, it was on the back burner for too long and got power crept. Same thing happened with Mordo from Strange 1
Guardians of the Galaxy (all 3) is one of the very few MCU films I honestly enjoy the most and love to rewatch at times. They're basically Firefly in the Marvel Universe with aliens. I have to also agree with the humor in this one. I had some really good giggles out of the film, especially when it comes to Drax. And I absolutely hated The High Evolutionary because he reminds me of Mengele.
That little intro was straight up badass
This movie is exactly what we needed, a great movie since infinity war/endgame in my opinion with a well written story and actual funny jokes. All of the cast fed off each other’s perfectly.
For Adam Warlock, he is indeed, “born yesterday” and was used specifically to capture Rocket, doing what he’s told to do. I am confident Adam Warlock will mature quickly and will become a liking to a lot of fans who don’t know him
This is like one of the few movies that earn the songs they use, given this series started out with its good soundtrack
Also the Bruce Springsteen song used was just 👌
I agree on what you said about Adam Warlock he just felt like a piece they wanted to add, but never really had a direction planned for him
No there’s absolutely direction planned, but it’s more of how it will be picked up. His origin here is pretty faithful to how he was introduced in the comic. He was a man child that growed and observed by helping and save others in the cosmos that becomes the space messiah most people know him as.
It’s just a situation of would other directors and writers take the same amount of care into Warlock and the new Guardians outside of Gunn.
quill telling nebula to "open the fucking door" uncensored was the best part of the movie.
I loved the Adam warlock stuff. Total goofy himbo that rocks
I loved Warlock's character. He was brilliant!
Feels right Guardians is the movie that brings back some Marvel love
