Outside the action scenes
The Shia LaBeouf & Bumblebee interactions were the only human interaction I cared about because they worked and were generally funny.
Don't know what AJ is crying about, Shia was fantastic in the original film with Bumblebee.
It was only good in the first film. I rewatched the original Bay movies and the interactions sucked in 2 & 3. Shia talking down to Bumblebee was ridiculous. Bee's a freaking space travelling alien intelligence and Shia wanted him to stay and watch his parents and drive him to his job interviews? 🙄

They need to treat Transformers like they do with any other superhero from DC or Marvel.
Imagine if you went to see a Spiderman movie and they just focus on Aunt May and Uncle Ben for an hour, people would be furious.
Yeah but the thing is with Spider-Man/Peter Parker he’s not 100% CGI. Thing is in modern day. It gets really expensive and really hard to make up for movie 100% out of CGI and what you’re asking for will be 100% CGI. That could take up to 7+ years with almost a $1 billion budget. I wish people would get that I understand I don’t like having humans but the humans balance it out with the budget.

the closest movie I can think of is planet of the apes where apes were the main focus of the movie and they were on screen for most of the movies that's what they need to do with transformers

I said the same thing on the subreddit. This is their war too so it makes sense for humans to create a secret team like NEST to hunt down Decepticons alongside Autobots. It’s their war too so obviously they would take part in it more than characters with no experience like Cade Yeager.

I'm disappointed they didn't gave more screen time to the Maximal, it was even hard to see Rhinox or Cheetor in action, also I really wanted to see Airazor robot mode.
At least human screen time were massively reduced in this movie lol. When will you clwons admit such a thing finally? Always asking for more and more. Never enough!

@@superior_nobody07 They do, but I understand why they did not get the screen time they deserved in this movie. Honestly? The movie would have been messy if they did. Because we would need to feel attach to then as much as we did with the auto bots. That would have require more budget and longer Lench. I think it's a better idea to have them have their own movie altogether. To which, the producer did allude to that 👍.So we will see. But finally. A tranformers movie where 99% of the fights are Robots vs Robots! FINALLY! Still, ( spoiler alert ) when Diaz was fighting the main vilain it was still through Marige's body. So I'd say 100% of the fights are Robots vs Robots now lol. Great show! I didn't like the overused of the HipHop songs though in certain combat scenes. HipHop hardly fits in fighting scenes to be honest lol. But it still wasn't wack and it was very watchable.
its an utter scam of a movie. advertised as bringing back beats wars characters only to shove them way off to the side...rhinox dosnt talk, cheetor gets two lines and airazor sounds awful and dosnt change forms? such an utter scam and waste of time.

I feel like Wheeljack could've done more in terms of carrying the plot by having him make upgrades for Optimus Prime and the other autobots. That would make Prime defeating scourge believable.
Even if I love his voice actor, they did my boy Wheeljack dirty...

This is why I love the latest Godzilla movie because it was mostly all badass monster fights. It would be nice if they could re-release it in theaters because it was a spectacle. Too bad it came out straight to stream because theaters were closed 😞.

I actually think the Hasbroverse is pretty cool tbh. The GI Joe tie in was unexpected but welcomed. Their universes cross every now and again in the past!
You guys totally failed to mention how in the hell the brothers were talking to each other from New York to Peru with damn 1994 walkie talkies! All while the little brother throwing another Brooklyn shout out in there from the scaffolding 😂
Because the walkie was wired into a freaking Autobot's arm, using its technology to boost the signal. Thought that was obvious.

If you watch Bumblebee and you see John Cena as Duke, it's a GI Joe origin story as well as a Transformers movie
As insane as it is, the moment I see Dominic Toretto driving a mech version of himself while turning to Optimus Prime saying "FAMILY ASSEMBLE" I'm rating it a 10/10.

Idk about Optimus being an ass In the first three Bay movies. He’s definitely darker then the show but he cares about Sam’s character and multiple time is willing to sacrifice himself for the humans and his fellow autobots. He even convinces his autobots to fight for the humans in the first one, the iconic line “Freedom is the right of all sentient beings” is great. He only starts hating the humans in 4 and 5 after they turn on the autobots and massacre his men. Which I’m sorry is understandable lol. You guys are awesome love watching your videos!
Optimus is a good guy in the first two films but he becomes a straight up war criminal in the third.

He executed megatron tearing his head and spine off horrifically after Megatron was trying to negotiate with him. Immediately after shoots his mentor in the head with a shotgun while he pleaded for his life.

Yea he begged for his life cause he was a coward and rather commit mass genocide then find a way to co exist. At the end of the day yea prime killed them savagely but he was 100% not wrong in doing so.

I like how its called "Rise of the Beast", yet we hardly see them in their tranformed state asides the chaos of the end fight, Cheetor and Rhinox have one line each, and we get a bootleg Megaman.
Honestly, that’s pretty accurate to the Beast Wars cartoon, they stayed in their beast forms for much of an episode unless they were in battle.

Well it is definitely called Rise of the Beast so we actually did got the intro of the maximals. So I wasn’t expecting a whole movie about them since it the RISE (intro) of them. There is also going to do a trilogy so I assume beasts will be full focus on the next one.

He killed a whole lot of Decepticons in the animated movie from the 80s before he died. The only reason he didn't kill the in the original tv show cause they would have been mom talking mad shit like how they killed cartoon in the mid 90s on regular tv
Recreate the Transformers Animated Movie from the 80s shot for shot with modern CGI. Include the original soundtrack and voice actors. That’s it. That’s the movie.
As much as I like that idea some of those voice actors have sadly passed away.
When you try to shove that much CG into a movie, you get Quantummania or Love and Thunder levels of quality and budget. Practically kills a movie even before release. You're not gonna get any stars for significant screen time cause they don't get to appear on actual screen. And noone is gonna give you enough money to afford that level of CG. The closest you're gonna get is a CGI cartoon, ala TMNT Mutant Mahyem coming up.

This is one of the better transformer films. I don't think it was nearly as bad as you guys are saying. It was great. We got more transformers in this than any previous film. The action was epic and I loved the characters.
I bet they'll make 10 fold like Spiderman level of money if they took risks and least at least made a 80 or 90 min film with just transformers . Seems like most people are craving for it and shit kids and teens will add to seeing the movie multiple times if it's just transformers

I liked it quiet a bit too, I'd give it an 8/10, it used to be a 9 but I lowered it just a bit

Unironically the greatest transformer film ever would be them back on cybertron with focus on a particularly devastating military engagement during the war.
You can make it gritty and industrial where bots die in droves through catastrophic and unceremonious brutality, and then end the entire film with massive losses for both sides and no clear objectives achieved.
No human characters, the only McGuffin in the story you need can be some huge bomb or weapon that once secured by the autobots proves devastating and particularly jarring, but with no actual impact on resolution of the battle, or war.

The 'prequel games' basically do all of exactly what the person mentioned. Only instead of a bomb it was a primordial autobot afaik. (giant ass bot that nobody can do shit to. But consumes so much energon just to be awake they all went comatose because their sheer existence speeds up the crisis)

I really enjoyed this movie despite all its shortcomings, the action choreography was amazing, even if I would’ve liked to see more of the maximals in action. I liked the soft commentary on UFO disclosure topics that are going around. I would’ve liked to see stratosphere as a modern military cargo plane rather than a cartoonish air mechanic. I didn’t like the rip-off avengers Endgame type of final battle. Still had a great time.

Yes and that is just like the show go watch the first season of g1 Transformers. The season finale is Cybertron coming into Earth's atmosphere. The 86 movie is Unicron coming and in plague of the insecticons it's Peru!

I love how AJ made the analogy of smashing your action figures together when talking about G.I Joe. I played with G.I Joe's growing up, and it reminds me how amazing our imagination is as children because there's scenarios I'd make up in my head and as I got older I would swear that I saw it on TV or something but could never find what I'm talking about, it was just how vivid my imagination was that made it feel so real and familiar. I usually don't go to the movies but to see a G.I Joe and transformer collab I'd be so down for that

@@ims0done346 OMG I saw that animation series somewhere, that is just made for the commentaries all the dialogues was "oh did I offend you" and stuff like that, some of the transformers and humans are referring to themselves and others as they/them and he/she and otr pronouns and stuff like that, wtf and why is this a thing in a kids toy Animation series.
In the IDW Transformers comics , during the Lost Light book, the character Anode talks about changing their gender from male to female because they felt it was correct to how they view themselves and that title is considered one of the best runs in Transformers comics history.

Couldnt disagree more with every point on here. You guys obviously dont know shit about Transformers. Alex called him Omnicron? Yea, NO. Shitting on humans being in movie? You do know that throughout the original animated series, there was Spike and his dad present throughout their adventures as well as other humans? This movie wasn't perfect but it was honestly the best film since the original animated movie - It could even be a direct sequel to it. There is alot of fanfare callbacks sprinkled throughout the movie for us real fans to enjoy.
If you anyone out there is a true Transformers G1 fan - GO AND SEE THIS MOVIE! It erases all the previous Michael Bay films. This one is LEGIT!

I’m looking forward to GI Joe and Transformers being in one movie. Mainly because of the crazy action scenes we’ll get with Snakeeyes, Stormshadow with Transformers mixed in.
IMO the first GI Joe movie was good, the second wasn’t bad either. The Snakeeyes movie was shaky cam nonsense.
People will complain about that movie because its straying away from transformers or some crap like that. But i think it will be fire

@Junkzillabox I never got the impression that the Maximals were weak. Just that the villain was ridiculously overpowered due to the dark energy that Unicron infused within them to make them impervious to most attacks. The Maximals never seemed to be confused as to who they're talking with after they met up with Prime and bis Autobots, just that Prime isn't the same person right now as he was in their records of Cybertronain past. The Optimus they knew about was a legendary heroic figure most known for his nobility, sacrifice, and love for humanity. The one they met in this movie is stubborn and selfish to a degree and, for some reason, doesn't trust nor care much about humanity....for reasons that they didn't explain. They should have done an Optimus standalone movie before they even thought of going in this direction with the character tbh. Have him be betrayed by someone that he came to trust with his life. Something, anything.
I can't explain away how Optimus Prime was able to defeat the Terrorcons as easily as he did, not with anything that's supported by things that we saw in the movie, at least. Either Unicron decided to relinquish his protective powers over his Heralds, which would make him one of the most cocky and idiotic villains to date, or Optimus and the rest of his crew were powered up by the same energon deposits hidden throughout the area as the ones that revived Bumblebee. Again, none of this is supported by the movie and is pretty much headcanon, but these are my best guesses as to what caused the power levels to shift so much
these movies would be far more well received if they were just full CG spectacles on Cybertron. WE WANT TO SEE ONLY THE ROBOTS.

G1 TF Movie, Tf 2007, Rotf & Dotm are Goated and I would enjoyed those movie more, than the new reboots that is barely trying.

Pete Davidson sucked!? What?! Lol he was the worst part of the movie and had a COMPLETELY forced connection with Noah. He seemed really out of place and was just yelling all of his lines like he usually does.
This is Paramount, so I also want to see Mission Impossible and Top Gun thrown in there. Like a dogfight between Starscream and Maverick.
Not fair to Starscream. The Maverick Cobra plot armor alone would blow the famed F-15 out of the sky.

Multiple factors go into it but this movie cost 200 million, fast x cost 340 million while the super Mario movie cost 100 million and across the spider verse cost 100 million… The most expensive animated movie doesn’t even rank in the top 10 most expensive movies.
Heck the original 80s transformer movie only cost 16 million when adjusted for inflation.

I feel like the core of the issues this movie had was that it tried so freaking hard to justify the presence of the human characters and make them as useful as possible. No one gives a shit, have 1-2 human characters for some basic exposition and audience surrogates but keep them in the freaking sidelines and let the 30ft tall sentient war machines save the day.
Calling Optimus Prime just as bad as the villains is absolutely unacceptable Joe and honestly a dogshit take. This movie was pretty decent. I enjoyed the human characters, and I actually felt the emotion and brotherly love. The only good take in this review is that there was too much focus on humans and lack of Maximal and Transformer roles. One really good thing about this movie was the fact that they showed the Indigenous peoples in a positive light and affirmed that they are the creators of all these wonders and not saying the Transformers or Aliens built these structures. It is getting pretty bad with all these brain-dead conspiracy theories about Indigenous people, and their contributions to civilization.
I remember watching the original animated movie with Daniel and his little transformer suit. He melted in to the background and the transformers were center stage I really had high hopes for this one man.
Why does everyone always moan and pout about the transformers movies. I mean everyone always complaining about the human aspect of them when they dive into the back stories of those characters, but you do know that the damn movie is a live action film so what did you really expect. In my opinion this was an amazing film that was way better than the Shia versions by a large margin. It was really nice that it wasn't all nothing but bad cgi fights and explosions like Michael Bay and the film had a much more serious tone and I thought the transformers looked great in this especially Prime and Primal. So people just need to suck it up and stop whining about every movie that just doesn't fit their liking and bashing them online because nowadays videos like these just hinder the films and cause the studio's to rethink continuing the franchise's. Movie reviews are nice to watch but not ones that are almost 40 mins of you people just complaining about every single little thing. I honestly think that they probably loved the movie but when they get in front of the camera they just hate on shit just for clicks.
Im curious when did you watch any of OG transformers. If you rewatch season 1 and 2 and the movie wirh unicron you get a different perspective on both this film and Michael Bays first three. There are ALOT of things they get right! Plague of the insecticons for example with south america peru setting and the sun destroyer. Cybertron coming into earth atmosphere etc!
Transformers should do a 2-3 movie series about the fall of Cybertron. All transformers fighting for control. They could go crazy with special effects and battles that could blowup everything with brutal deaths.

Movie was fine. I guess because I stopped seeing the films after the 3rd one 😂. I could totally feel this as a non-Bay film which was awesome. I do think the intro to Noah and brother took longer than it should have. I even liked that Noah was given Mirage's suit for a while. I was excited the whole film, just a sigh of relief that Bay isn't directing these anymore. 😅

I just had the worst experience of my life watching this movie...
Was planning to watch it in english (I live in Italy), so I planed to go to a theater far away that had the movie in english.
The ride there was about 50 minutes.
We decided to go two hours earlier.
Took us 2 and a half hours...
We encountered an accident, works on the road, traffic and heavy rain.
I called the cinema asking how much commercials the movie had. It had none. The movie started 10 minutes ago and we were 20 minutes away from the cinema.
We went back home.
That was the only time we could have seen the movie in english.
Fyi, I suffer from heavy depression. I've been waiting two fucking years to watch this movie. I really wanted to see Peter Cullens latest work cause he is my childhood hero.

It was awfull. I fucking hated every single second of it. It ruined my entire experience and I regret it so much now.

Big difference with the Sonic movies, though. The first movie establishes how Sonic gives as much of a fuck to stop Eggman in the first place. Why stop him if he doesn't care about the world he's saving? His family is what he's fighting for.
NOW that we've perfectly established that in a single movie, Sonic 2 more so actually relied on Sonic stuff and kept the human stuff exiled away to one location that had at most 10 minutes total screen time. We know Sonic cares, we don't need much of them, and what we got *in my opinion* was decent and funny.
Plus, you kinda need humans to have Shadow's introduction and Eggman at all, so saying Sonic doesn't need humans is a crock of shit. Humans caused Shadow's tragic backstory, they caused Eggman to be a thing, you can't just ignore them.
What the Transformers movies never seem to get right is you only need to have the humans be established over the course of one plot and then you can relegate them. These movies *never bother to relegate them* is the problem, while Sonic learned that lesson immediatey.
Transformers in general, also doesn't need humans in the first place. They have a perfectly established big society torn apart by war, you can do entire movies just with them. But Sonic *does* need that background element of having something to save.

You need Eggman, you need Gerald, you need G.U.N. etc, but you don’t need what they gave us. It’s not funny and almost makes the first movie unwatchable. 2 got smart and mostly did away with it and everyone unanimously agrees the movie sucks every time it switches to the wedding.

I will say, the first 2 movies had some decent human interaction but after that it went downhill.

It’s accurate to comic lore. They exist together and there are new TF toys with 80s style o-ring Joe figures. Megatron turns into a HISS tank and Bumblebee turns into some Joe vehicle but I cant remember what.

The reason why they can’t focus on the Transformers in the movies is that CGI is too expensive. The humans are filler but they could have done something better with with their storylines.

**Spoiler Warning** Just saw it yesterday.. was a 5.5/10 for me.. I didn't really like a lot of the things that went on. I had a lot of questions.. like why couldn't Scourge just keep infecting the other Primals to turn them to his side if they have no counter measures against it? How was Optimus Prime able to fight Scourge at the end when he got easily crushed in the beginning? (the power levels shouldn't have changed and Scourge wasn't weakened or tired in any way before the last fight). How come Mirage couldn't do anything to Scourge, but a human using the left over parts of Mirage was able to have an impact on him in a fight? How is a human, trained in the army as a "tech guy", able to use alien energy arm cannons effectively and effectively fight with arm swords? Does the military even teach people stuff like that? Also the secret government agency at the end is waaay too nice.. no government agency is that kind and generous to complete strangers without a bad agenda, especially an agency from the United States. A lot of stuff just broke my suspension of disbelief from the movie. First hour was pretty interesting, but starts feeling a little drawn out past the hour and 30 minute mark, the movie felt longer than it should have.
To be fair most western movies have powerscaling problem. Atleast in anime they train. In western movies they get stronger because???? Yeah I don't know. They just get stronger.

I think the suit from mirage was a play on the original show where spike and other humans have in the original 80’s movie and show. And the transporter spike think I think was a play on the golden disk from beast wars.
The best humans the transformers ever had to me was Transformers Energon…That show was amazing to me as a child…It showed the Transformers living with the humans but it focused more on the Transformers while the humans did have their own side plots and such….They balanced the Transformers and the Humans pretty well to me….
for me transformers prime and transformers armada did it the best with the human companions.

The Planet of the Apes prequels were sooo good, because they focused on the apes. They told the story of the apes. They made the apes the compelling characters. That’s what Transformers gets sooo wrong.
The second thing is they always make it about these convoluted plots… they should have made the Transformers movies about the civil war between the governing factions of Cybertron. Bumblebee was a step in the right direction, but then they go and jump to their “Thanos” in the very next film. Just write a plot much like Bumblebee that centers around the war for Cybertron.
Also another important detail Optimus was only able to kill scourge after first drenching his sword in lava hitting him then pushing scourge into the lava and then finishing him of after he was extremely damaged with 1000 degree burns. So it did make sense Optimus could kill scourge and scourge was stronger then Optimus just weakened by lava..

I honestly think this movie was good. In terms of a solid, fun transformers movie; it has been awhile since we had a good one coming off from the bay-verse. I think a lot of these movies "in general," have an issue with Villains. Part of that is because they literally don't take them seriously and the other is that we have no idea who they are (whether that is clear in the comics or live). Part of the reason why Guardian of Galaxy V3 did so well as of recent failing Marvel movies is because of it's ruthless and just f-up villain. They took their villain incredibly seriously, which literally made audiences' feel like the stake was super high. I feel like Scourge and maybe unicorn was really headed in that direction in the first act... and then fell off. Wished we had more time with him and got to know him. I wish we had more screen time with the Maximus because I really wanted to know each individual one, especially with Primal and Air-razor. Another thing this movie had trouble with was fight choreography. I thought that Dark of the moon had very well fight choreograph between Optimus and Sentinel prime which made the action worth while. Though there are a number of things that could've been better and spent less time with humans and rather learn more about the robots themselves. It was still a solid flick. With the introduction of GIJOE. We should see where that takes us! I am excited. I am getting tired of this super-hero era tbh (no offense). XD BUT I ALSO AGREE WITH JOE HAA!!! LMFAO
Did you guys miss how Prime beat Scourge? He used his brain and the environment to win. He didn’t have a power up but used the lava from his axe to blind him then was able to weaken the metal by pushing him into the lava flow.
Would be awesome to get a full on Fall of Cybertron movie with NO humans at all. just all Transformers being Transformers all of that character.. and story.
So i just watched this movie and you guys forgot 1 part. They said when the portal was being opened they said. We cannot destroy the key because to much energy equivalent to a super nova. What did they do? They blew it up and just a small black hole sorta formed.With very much plot pull? instead of armor like tf that end scene made no sense.
Lot of great points here. I love watching these reviews because they challenge me to reevaluate the movie I just saw and see things from a different perspective. I personally loved it, but I can also totally see why people would be frustrated with the human characters. In this one more than the others I feel like they're forgettable, which makes me a little sad because I've always enjoyed the 'allying with the humans can make us stronger' aspect of these films. That being said, I'd love to see one of these dive further into the lore itself.

I actually liked the humans in this one noah was my favorite i feel like this movie isnt for critics as much as it is fan service i just want to see robots beat the crap out of eachother ,i think critics should go into movies like this with an idea of the type of movie and what its audience wants

Coming from a fan who reads the comics, I'm excited for Gi Joe's being introduced into the movie. I think it will help both franchises as that is my favorite crossover with the transformer comics. I have to say this movie was not bad, and I did enjoy it by far better than the other ones that were released besides bumblebee.

It almost felt like they didn't even want the Beasts in this movie. Only Primal and Airazor were given decent dialog, with Airazor gets killed off for a lazy reason. Cheetor should've been the Bumblebee of the film, with Rhinox being acting like the big brother. The Predacons are switched out with Terricons, for no real reason.
