@Jason Tetkowski Her name is Phyla-Vell. I know it's unlikely but I really wished they brought back Ultron and did the Annihilation conquest storyline
Rockets back story was amazing, Adam was literally pulled out of his cocoon early so he was OP but just stupid and followed mommy’s orders until she died and filled that whole with the guardians, I really enjoyed the dynamic between the guardians especially Nebula, Drax and Mantis. The High Revolutionary fell to obsession over Rocket which made him make mistakes. Peter probably forgot his gear on Knowhere bc they left in a rush to save Rocket. The humor was surprisingly not that cringey other than some scenes (compared to past movies), Peter went back for his music player bc Yondu got it for him. Film was a 8/10 for me.
I actually really liked how Peter went back for the Zune and think its perfectly in character for him. The Zune is the only thing left of Yondu. And he thinks Rocket will need it when he becomes the leader.
Rocket's outta body scene & Kraglin getting Yondu's arrow to work, those were my tearjerk moments. I saw the High E as a mashup of Dr Moreu, Dr Mengele, & Hitler, & seeing him get BEAT was sooooo satisfying! Offing ALL of Counter Earth, that shocked me, but the villain's callousness about it shocked me worse! If this is the final Guardians film, I was satisfied.
Of course not all heroes have to die… and usually they don’t die at all with extremely rare exceptions. I am just annoyed that even the stupidest decisions don’t have any negative consequences at all… and I hate those stupid death fake outs.
@@TotallyWorkinggPeople only expected a tragic ending because that’s the expectation that’s been built up for the last few years by every piece of media/marketing leading up to release
Yes because the Guardians have suffered enough already. Nebula and Rocket had no family for 5 years in Endgame and Peter already lost his Gamora in Infinity War
I know it’s your opinion, but Peter has always been so close to his music. It’s his biggest thing to remember mom and now Gamora. Him fighting to get that zune was needed and huge. He’s caught in the past for them and it still rings true
Again, not sure the emotional connections to the actual music. Peter's mom made him mixed tapes with songs she loved and sang to him. Are we to believe Yondu was hanging around listening to earth radio, and put songs he loved in the Zune for Peter? Or was it a cool thing he found that peter would probably like, but not even important enough to remember to actually give to him himself?
Yea man. This movie was hard to watch. I actually hated every rocket flashback. Every happy moment those friends had I already knew something bad is going to happen and I really felt bad for them. It was straight sad and disturbing. Dark for sure
For me, this was the last MCU movie I was excited for, and will probably be the last one I see in theaters. The Guardians were always my favorite, and it was such a great end to the story. I'm probably done with Marvel movies for now, but man it was a good run. Big thanks to James Gunn for being such a massive part of my growing up
Yeah same very happy with GOTGs ending prob gonna be my last marvel movie for awhile. The new characters they’re introducing are so bland compared to the old ones. America, Ironheart etc. Not rlly excited for the new avengers movie with the current lineup
There is a comic book counterpart to the little girl, she’s Quaser, another popular character in the guardians mythos. She’s a modified superbeing with a glowing eye and the ability to create objects with light
Groot in the end when he is big is actually how groot is supposed to be and his first appearance back in the 60s in tales to astonish so groot being that big and that design is accurate to the classic comics
I’m a warlock fan and I really liked him in this movie. I wish he was incorporated sooner but I think him being removed from his chamber early and he is not fully developed is a good idea and is well performed in the movie. If you think about it every time he attacks somebody or does something he literally goes all out which is why he seems to crash through things and fall down a few times because he is literally overclocked. It’s good character development that he will learn how to control his powers and find more understanding of interpersonal interactions.
And also like I said I have the bonus footage, and James Gunn did commentary on the movie, and he talked about Groot, has he is a different Groot, not the one from the first movie that one died cause he sacrificed himself for the team, this is like an offspirng of that Groot
The second I knew this movie was great was when Rocket told Quill they needed to save the rest of them. But he struggled getting out the words. I immediately started sobbing.
I don't know if this explains it, but Mantis said she couldn't translate the language that the kids were speaking. I'm guessing that's why she couldn't use her powers to tell the kids to move away from the starboard side of the ship.
Seeing Rocket’s origins and when he was younger was when I cried the most. Overall, I enjoyed this movie so much despite crying a lot. Oh and give Linda Cardellini an Oscar ASAP because she did Lylla so perfectly and beautiful
Yes this is the only guardians movie I won’t be rewatching. I did too much crying and I feel like no matter how many times I will watch it, it will always make me cry. Plus I cannot take seeing young rocket being maltreated for the second time 😞😣
For Peter his music means a lot so he had to turn back and get it.. and dont forget he said he always finds a genius way of getting out of situations so he thought it would be fine.. and Mantis was going to use her ability to tell the kids but then Nebula annoyed her and she ended up scaring them so Drax had to step in. Did you miss the mention of Kevin Bacon?
When Peter, Nebula and Groot go to the High Evolutionary's ship, they are stopped by the pig & rhino monster to be scanned. The pig tells Nebula she can't go in because she just is a weapon, and they scan Quill. Then as the Pig turns to Groot, the scene cuts and they are walking inside. Yeah I bet you had to cut there, because that was kinda awkward if you had to try and explain how they managed to sneak the guns through a gun scanner so you could have the "Now Groot!" gun reveal scene in the throne room.
@capt truth It’s very very stupid and would have been easy to solve… or at least make it less stupid. Simply don’t use a scanner at all… and let the scene play out the same.😂
When Groot said “I love you guys”, I’d like to think that in reality he said “I am Groot”, but similar to Gamora, at last we’re understanding what he is meaning to say.
There seems to be a trend where a new kid character/hero is added at the end of MCU movies: Love and Thunder, Wakanda Forever, and now Guardians 3. Are they trying to set up a Young Avengers?
Adam Warlock is supposed to be in the end of the Infinity Gauntlet story ending up with the gauntlet like in the comics but they lift him out to do a ridiculous unrealistic death for Tony Stark which he should have right away disintegrated as soon as he grabbed the stones but he didn't. Most of these Marvel movies are poorly written and all they are is just eye candy. They should stick with the stories that are already done in the comics.
The little white haired girl who joins the Guardians in the end is PHYLA who actually does have a comic book counterpart. In the comics she is the genetically engineered daughter of Mar-Vell, the Original Captain Marvel whose powers get passed to Carol Danvers.
I thought it was pretty sad when Mantis made drex forget after she yelled at him and nebula about drax being dumb. She put them both in thier place but made sure drax forgot everything haha. Nebula still needed to hear it though.
Quil should have died in space in that end scene. His celestial powers are gone affer he defeated his father as he was the source of the power. Someone needed to die and they pussed out.
One DC actor crossover you missed was Uhra, the pink girl that Gamora takes hostage and Quill tries to flirt with, was the girl who played Ratcatcher 2 in The Suicide Squad.
👍🏻Thanks bro for pointing out and remembering her cast participation in the last MCU Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy film. Daniela MELCHIOR is her name, she's Portuguese and plays the role of Ura in the movie. We're very proud of her here in Portugal and wish her the best. I've personally (as a MARVEL Comics fan) already watched the movie last Saturday night in theater and really enjoyed it but overall I agree with everything that was said about it in the 2 reviews (with and without spoilers) by those guys... Vol. 3 is nice but has some annoying flaws (Adam Warlock's introduction and plot being of them imo too). My final verdict=8/10✓ Obrigado pela consideração! 🇵🇹👊🏻🇺🇸
Groot didn't really speak. It's teased when Gamora finnally learned to understand him. Growth saying I love you guys meant the audience now understands Groot.
Let me start with I will not apologize, if you’re a real fan, and you don’t think vol 3 is the best guardians movie you’re fucking nuts… Like bro Rocket damn near died and was reborn a leader… Nebulas growth as a character has been wild… Drax made an actual metaphor (then proceeded to demonstrate he has no clear wtf a metaphor is 🤣🤣)… the tension between Starlord and Gamora was palpable… the way they handled the conclusion of their romantic relationship with Peter accepting that he he can’t force this new Gamora to love him yet she can respect and identify that what they did have had to be something special was refreshing asf… rockets backstory had sooo much weight to it… this movie took us to some really anxiety inducing places… I never felt like anyone on the team was safe… There were so many times I was just waiting only to have my darkest expectations subverted… The soundtrack was litty again as always… this movie was one of the best proper send offs we got for a trilogy not just in marvel, but in fiction period. He in no way dropped the ball, only knock I’ll accept is the rushing of Adam’s story but I get why it had to be done and I think it’s a negligible critique when you take into consideration people went into this movie expecting a lot, and we got an absolute banger right when many people were going to hop of the MCU bandwagon.. I’m still giving it a 10/10
My one problem with the jumping off the ship plan and the ending space scene is Peter doesn’t have his gear. Where’s his helmet and rocket boots? Maybe I need to rewatch it but I swear he doesn’t have them through the whole movie.
They were destroyed in GOTG 2 and they were magically back in Infinity War. Someone said that Peter may have literally just forgot them at Nowhere because they immediately sprung into action to save Rocket without really gearing up or planning. It kind of checks out honestly.
When Peter stops Ego in Vol 2, Ego explicitly states destroying him and his home would render Peter human again. So it makes no sense that he survived.
Peter for some reason doesn't use his helmet and rocket boots in this film, which would be extremely useful and save him from the near death situation at the end.
Also love the supposed ghost Easter egg that apparently it’s not that Groot spoke English at the end, it’s that we the audience “can understand him” now
The little girl in the post credits scene is actually based off a comic book character, Phyla-Vell! In Annihilation/Annihilation Conquest she becomes Quasar and she wields the quantum bands. The girl in the post credits scene is not the same Phyla-Vell from the comics, but it seems she will be loosely based on her if she returns.
There were so many heart hitting moments in this, such as nobody dying except for the Guardians in the sense of splitting up a bit, Groot saying “I love you guys”, and Star-Lord eventually returning in whatever.
It is. Officially. GOTG 2 is better than Cap 1. That's the buzzer beater right there imo. If GOTG 2 was dogshit...it'd be right there with Thor before Ragnarok
Totally agree on the Cosmo joke. First time it was funny, next eight times it got really old.. I am surprised you guys didn't bring up Starlord dropping a hard F-bomb when he was telling Nebula how to open the door. That caught me completely off guard.
This movie is the closest thing to perfect that I have ever witnessed. Guardians Volume 3 is not only one of the best Marvel films I’ve seen, but this is one of the best films I’ve seen PERIOD. I won’t say much other than to get your asses to the theater and watch this cinematic masterpiece. James Gunn in my eyes is the greatest filmmaker of this generation and this film solidified his genius.
@ 26:29, They didn't let the High Evolutionary die on the exploding ship. I just saw it a second time, and the scene where all the animals are running, you can clearly see Drax carrying him.
I was wondering what happened to Quill's space mask? I don't know if i missed it in any other movie, but how come Quill doesn't have his mask to save him when he was in space like the other movies?
Adam Warlock should have been handled like an Evil Vision (Like the moment where Vision talks to the "Other" Vision, Wanda and Vision serie), trying to reason with them, telling them to surrender Rocket, then being a threat throught most of the movie, with similar outcomes
I think the new girl's Marvel counterpart is Phyla-Vell. They mentioned that she could run that wheel for the long period of time without food, hydration and rest. Thats something that Phyla-Vell can do
When Peter made Rocket the Captain, I felt it.. but when Steve Rogers made Sam the Captain, I didn't.. that's the Difference between Good and Bad Writing..
Its different though because quinn handed rocket the title of captain, which is just that, a title. Rogers handed Sam the symbol of captain america, which is much deeper, as it doesn’t only come with the responsibility of captain america it comes with all the baggage around the symbol itself. Also rocket at that point had already earned his spot, Sam didnt feel like he had. By the end of Sam’s show he earned it though, he fully understood what it meant to be captain america and backed it up with action. To get the same feeling youd need to watch the show, to see him start to fill out the shoes of captain america. Cant wait for his movie.
@@brandondiaz1118 haven't you read my original comment properly?? 'just a Title' felt more realistic than the 'symbol' that's my point, Plus I already watched Falcon & Winter Soldier twice, haven't felt shit for Sam, had feelings for Bucky though.. The most interesting character in the whole show was Zemo.. Instead of wasting time on Karli & the terrorist crew they should have worked more on Sam, other than showing us he's broke lmfao
At 7:00 when you said that Peter was half celestial that is no longer true because at the end of Volume 2 right before Peter kills his father, his father said that if he kills him then Peter will be like everyone else. Meaning he would be a regular human, which is why I think he had a more brutal reaction to the environment of space in Volume 3 than in Volume 1.
I know the review has been out for awhile already but I recently seen the movie, and got the bonus footage, and with High Evolutionary, it shows on the deleted scenes while they are back on Knowhere they have HE in a prison cell, it’s actually more like an animal cage

So groot really died to……. Balls
My biggest question, where was Peter's helmet and rocket boots? He had them in the past 2 guardians movies, he had them infinity war.. where'd they go?
I found it surprisingly emotional with Mantis + Drax's wave goodbye. you can see the tear in their eyes and just got to me. Also HATE Groot talking english.
I've seen a lot of people saying that we just finally understood Groot like the rest of the guardians who eventually came to understand what he was saying with time, but your comment is kinda weird because "I am Groot" is still in English
@@adamkramer9080 This is a genius explanation! 🤣🤣🤣 this is way more immersive at first the Guardians only heard I am Groot and are like tf is he saying now the audience now understands his language so when he talks it translates to what he means but he’s still saying I am Groot only difference is we understand him now thus we hear it differently and hear it in English and yada yada it’s a nice touch awesome
I loved the Adam Touching God reference in the scene where Quill "died". Except they switched positions compared to the actual painting. I guess being half Celestial makes Quill kinda half a God.
Sounds like Warlock was probably meant to fill the role Captain Marvel filled in Endgame. and Lylla. . . 😢
The little girl that was in the after credits is in the comics, I believe she was like the genetic clone daughter thing of Captain Mar-Vell yeah comics are weird can’t explain her she’s a lot but good movie
In the comics she's also the love interest of Drax's daughter Moondragon
The screams from Rocket, Peter and Mantis in specific scenes were really good as well
@@steezymiguel2393facts!
I actually really liked how Peter went back for the Zune and think its perfectly in character for him. The Zune is the only thing left of Yondu. And he thinks Rocket will need it when he becomes the leader.
"only thing left of Yondu" uhh, did you not see the Yaka Arrow Kraglin was using? 😂😂
@ 7:00, Quill lost all his Celestial powers when Ego's light was destroyed. So it doesn't matter that he's half Celestial anymore.
YES JOE THANK YOU not every hero exit has to be them dying how depressing if that was the case for ppl who just want to do good
@capt truth sometimes things just end on a good note. Ppl for some reason don't want characters to have joy
@@ramigilneas9274 yea plot armor is a crazy thing sometimes
I know it’s your opinion, but Peter has always been so close to his music. It’s his biggest thing to remember mom and now Gamora. Him fighting to get that zune was needed and huge. He’s caught in the past for them and it still rings true
Again, not sure the emotional connections to the actual music. Peter's mom made him mixed tapes with songs she loved and sang to him. Are we to believe Yondu was hanging around listening to earth radio, and put songs he loved in the Zune for Peter? Or was it a cool thing he found that peter would probably like, but not even important enough to remember to actually give to him himself?
Damn. This was an emotional movie. Loved it. Best of the 3 for me
I think so too
Yea man. This movie was hard to watch. I actually hated every rocket flashback. Every happy moment those friends had I already knew something bad is going to happen and I really felt bad for them. It was straight sad and disturbing. Dark for sure
I don’t care if I’m the minority, this is one of my fav movies of all time I’ve seen it 3 times already 😢😅
I like this movie. It's emotional and funny. It's a good GOTG movie. But, I'm probably in minority here, the first two GOTG movies are better.
It was terrible. Only the Rocket flashbacks were good
For me, this was the last MCU movie I was excited for, and will probably be the last one I see in theaters.
The final flashback fucking broke me never felt such seething hatred for an mcu villain before.
There is a comic book counterpart to the little girl, she’s Quaser, another popular character in the guardians mythos. She’s a modified superbeing with a glowing eye and the ability to create objects with light
She's just Phyall Vell. She was Quasar, Caption Marvel, Starbrand, and Martyr
I didn't think he was half celestial anymore? When Ego died, that part of him was no more. It's just inconsistencies on the film makers this time.
I missed a Yondu Arrow slow-mo montage, it was over a bit too fast.
High Evolutionary had a similar evil plan as Thanos. He must have been a fan.
I don't know if this explains it, but Mantis said she couldn't translate the language that the kids were speaking. I'm guessing that's why she couldn't use her powers to tell the kids to move away from the starboard side of the ship.
the number of times i saw Mantis land on her neck, I thought she was gonna die
Seeing Rocket’s origins and when he was younger was when I cried the most. Overall, I enjoyed this movie so much despite crying a lot. Oh and give Linda Cardellini an Oscar ASAP because she did Lylla so perfectly and beautiful
Yes this is the only guardians movie I won’t be rewatching. I did too much crying and I feel like no matter how many times I will watch it, it will always make me cry. Plus I cannot take seeing young rocket being maltreated for the second time 😞😣
Joe if you get a dog you will understand and laugh at the bad dog joke more lol 😂
Also Groot at the end was homage to comic Groot I think well at least with how his head looked
You missed the point also dude. Its not about the music but what the actual Zune means to him (his connection to his mom)
@@mopillo88 lol you missed it... It's the connection to his dad, yondu... The story evolved in Vol 2
@@rayyrray its his connection to kevin bacon
The High Evolutionary put on a performance
I thought that once Peter killed ego he was no longer part celestial? I could be wrong but I thought that was the trade off for him killing ego.
Griot is nude…you see what you get. I mean shit I wouldn’t of thought he had them either 😂
They didn’t scan him because he’s not wearing anything to hide something
@capt truth
It’s very very stupid and would have been easy to solve… or at least make it less stupid.
Yes, so in 20 years time those actor are still young enough to be cranking movie sequels
Why didn’t starlord just use his helmet or rocket boots when he was in space?
The little white haired girl who joins the Guardians in the end is PHYLA who actually does have a comic book counterpart. In the comics she is the genetically engineered daughter of Mar-Vell, the Original Captain Marvel whose powers get passed to Carol Danvers.
I thought it was pretty sad when Mantis made drex forget after she yelled at him and nebula about drax being dumb. She put them both in thier place but made sure drax forgot everything haha. Nebula still needed to hear it though.
Why did they introduce Adam Warlock and didn’t really do much with him at all. They made him into a joke
Drax survived planetary re-entry while hanging outside a crashing ship. And we doubt how he survived this?
Vin Diesel looks at Groot and says “Bigger”
Quil should have died in space in that end scene. His celestial powers are gone affer he defeated his father as he was the source of the power.
Someone needed to die and they pussed out.
The girl is a comic book character. Phyla-Vell, Daughter of the original captain marvel from the comics. Also goes by Quasar.
i don't know a lot about the comics but who would be a big enough cosmic threat that would need cosmic level heroes?

When Peter swore at Nebula was pretty funny
I wanted drax to dance for/with mantis before she left. It would have meant more if he did it as a goodbye
The little girl is Phyla Vell. She’s a prominent member of the Guardians in the comics.
little girl in post credits was called Phyla, pretty sure it was Phyla-Vell, a very much comic book character.
Groot didn't really speak. It's teased when Gamora finnally learned to understand him. Growth saying I love you guys meant the audience now understands Groot.
Vin Diesel said I love you guys, come see Fast 10
Theory is kang was supposed to be in the post post credit scene but it was cut with all the things happening to Jonathan majors
Wait, what happenings? Also why Joe mentions about recasting?
I doubt that. I feel like James Gunn would want this final entry to be more self contained.
@@Kairax he is accused of assault of his gf. Pretty solid evidence for it apparently
@@Favar1 Thanks. Would be awesome if they change marvel main villain.
Every change is at least "change" in mahvel
@@Favar1there’s no evidence but ok
Right! Like he had his gear in infinity war & endgame so idk 🤷♂️
They were destroyed in GOTG 2 and they were magically back in Infinity War.
Someone said that Peter may have literally just forgot them at Nowhere because they immediately sprung into action to save Rocket without really gearing up or planning.
It kind of checks out honestly.
@@kagenotatsumaki I was also thinking that he just forgot to grab them too because they were in a rush
He left his room in a hurry. I’d assume his crap is in his place of dwelling
When Peter stops Ego in Vol 2, Ego explicitly states destroying him and his home would render Peter human again. So it makes no sense that he survived.
Ego said the source of Peter’s power was from him. When Ego died Peter lost his celestial powers.
Peter for some reason doesn't use his helmet and rocket boots in this film, which would be extremely useful and save him from the near death situation at the end.
Also love the supposed ghost Easter egg that apparently it’s not that Groot spoke English at the end, it’s that we the audience “can understand him” now
Confirmed by Gunn itself.
Glad someone else noticed her.
There were so many heart hitting moments in this, such as nobody dying except for the Guardians in the sense of splitting up a bit, Groot saying “I love you guys”, and Star-Lord eventually returning in whatever.
Such an emotional movie. I honestly think it’s the best MCU trilogy.
It is. Officially. GOTG 2 is better than Cap 1. That's the buzzer beater right there imo. If GOTG 2 was dogshit...it'd be right there with Thor before Ragnarok
im torn between this and spider man trilogy
James Gunn’s explanation is that Quill aka Star Lord left it in his desk drawer in Knowhere.
@@timothymorris157in other words he forget that quill was supposed to have a suit with gadgets and boosters.
I wish Adam Warlock wasnt so childish.
My question is what happened to Peter's helmet
Adam Warlock should have been handled like an Evil Vision (Like the moment where Vision talks to the "Other" Vision, Wanda and Vision serie), trying to reason with them, telling them to surrender Rocket, then being a threat throught most of the movie, with similar outcomes
Well technically he was a Fantastic Four villain which they called his name HIM. Before he became a I guess anti-hero and was named Adam Warlock.
There's literally and evil version of warlock that's way stronger then anyone we have ever seen
I would like to see Star Lord get his powers back.
It was quite clear High Evolutionary wanted Rockets brain, that's it
Give them a break. The dude only screamed it out loud in like 6 scenes. How the fuck were they supposed to catch that???

I feel the darker tone in this film was good, but i dont think it was handled as best as it could've been. I still think it was a very solid story.
Thank you. This movie is good but definitely has its faults that could have made it a lot better and in tone with the darkness of the movie.

Sounds like Warlock was probably meant to fill the role Captain Marvel filled in Endgame. Aside from a few lines the role really only accounted for a powerful being with a golden motif to show up and be a physical threat to Thanos. Just sucks because the Guardians of the Galaxy video game managed to do Warlock right.
