Copied this one down, will definitely give a try. Love Dark lagers and Amber Ales all year round in Brisbane.
Hope you enjoy it mate!
My brother did alot of the plumbing there when they initaially set up.
Lives just across the river
Interesting mate!
Had a break from brewing for a few years mostly just out of laziness. Now cost of living i am getting back in. Jesus last i was watching you for tips you were all robobrew. You got fancy hey. I still have by robo that should still work for my basic needs
I've gone back to the Robobrew, well Brewzilla, this system was a pain in the arse! Cheers mate!
@@HomeBrewNetwork look forward to seeing you using it again. You always had the best tips to get the best use out of it.
Looks like you have tried a bunch of different things. Maybe a video idea is your personal opinion based on the gear you have used in the last few years what you consider is the best value and quality for what it does. Is some stuff too fancy for what it does ect.
I remember the days when home brew was to save a dollar, we used basic gear, made our own. Kept price a minimum. Then the craft craze came in, companies started making stuff and now it can be very easy to spend some serious coin on a setup if you want. But does it make a better beer?
I have to agree with you mate, their beers are always awesome.
Thanks and cheers Troy!
legend mate. cheers for a kick ass lager
Cheers mate!
I always focused on boil time. I now use boil time as a general guide. I now boil to the volume that will give me the OG that I want. If OG is flexible I don’t worry and boil to time.
I'd always try and over shoot numbers, so I'd water down mostly, rather than boiling different times, either way it's much easier in a more manageable mash basket and/or kettle size. I brew 23-34L batches but will only keg 18L, again, keeping it simple, no stuffing around, enjoyable. Cheers Barry! Hope you had a great weekend mate!
Love your work Gash!🍻
Much appreciated! You f'n rock Birdy Bro :)
Any chance of a review of your brewing system, looks great
This is the problem, it isnt that great, its really done my head in trying to do a good review on it, theres really good bits and some really bad bits. Cheers!
That’s some flash looking gear ! Best place for that spray ball is in the bin, Brewdog in Brisvegas now always liked their Punk IPA. Aussie has come a long way with the beer scene now, when I moved to Townsville in 2009 James Squire was it. Great vid as usual.
Agreed that spray ball needs to be launched into space lol
@@HomeBrewNetwork 🤣 don’t like to be picky but that basket could take a trip as well.
Agreed hahaha its so small, it should be for 10L system not for a 36L system, and really, I'm not a fan at all of a complete mesh basket at any size.
It looks nice, but the rattling sounds when the pump is running ruins it.
are actual brewers making these brew systems -seems some basic flaws that would have been recognized/fixed if they used the system themselves. ----The beer looks great -well done
I've been saying that for a very long time, all these shops keep their system development inhouse and its bound to cause issues, employees are to shit scared to criticise as they want to keep their job. There's some really basic things that are just ridiculous and a pretty fast and easy fix most of the time. I don't understand. This is the kind of thing that should be sent to me or anyone and tested before release, no videos needed, just tested. Its pretty oblivious to me that this wasn't. Cheers!
Im brewing this tomorrow night mate.Ill let you know how it goes in Baysides Oktoberfest Comp.
Awesome! Cheers Troy
Its been a few years since Ive been there but a great brewery and the pub up the road had some great food and beer on tap too.
They've just opened up a new beer hall I think, I'm trying to get up there, but hard without a car! Cheers!
Love the setup, are you starting with RO or distilled water? I think I'm going to give this one a brew.
My tap water is really good, low on everything so I just treat it for Chlorine/Chloramine and go from there. My RO system takes all day to get enough for a brew. I only use it if I really have too. Cheers!
I have the 50L version and the basket is much better. The spray ball is still useless and am thinking of trying a shower head!!!
Any problems with your gravity pill. Mine was working fine with a reading every 15m. Then the next brew a reading every day!!! Ordered a new one and it is doing the same thing a reading every day or so.
Hmm That sounds like setting in the Pill somewhere.
How close to the original was your Batch?
Taste wise extremely close, just looks a little darker, I used a different roast malt to theirs. Cheers!
Mate we've seen you brew on all sorts of gear over the last few years. This one, Grainfather 30/40, brewzilla. What's your go to favourite when the camera isn't rolling?
I really like the simplicity of the single vessels, even though this one is technically a single vessel, its hard work, I've learnt to much prefer the larger single vessels, just to have that extra space, space for mash and boil, it gets tiring trying to squeeze brews into a smaller system. I sold the G40, which was fine, great machine but the priority parts, not being able just to plug a 1/2inch regular fitting into the recirc or chiller also got tiresome. So my favourite at the moment is a Brewzilla 65L, its very rare I use it full these days, but the nice wide mash pipe like the G40 had, means easy mashing, reduces any chance of a stuck mash greatly. There's also plenty of room for the boil, no worries about boil over, plenty of room to sparge a bit more, or water down if needed. It does need 15amp though, but the G40 ran much better on 15amp too. Cheers!
@@HomeBrewNetwork thanks mate
Great feedback and very detailed, one question - what did you mean by "priority" parts for the g40?
@@brassones6969 oops think spell check got me there lol proprietary.. meaning they use odd sized parts no one else uses, they only want you to buy their overpriced accessories which is a real let down. If you're just starting off it might be ok because you don't have other parts already, but if you've been using something else and you change to Grainfather it means either new gear or messing around with adapters, that you usually have to make yourself. Cheers!
That kit looks nice but a bit of a faff compared to your BZ gen4 or G40… Must do a schwarz, not tried to brew one yet.
Lots of Faff! Cheers mate!
Дорогое, сложное в управлении и совершенно бесполезное оборудование с малой эффективностью. На моём дешёвом самодельном оборудовании эффективность 85 %.
Expensive, yes, difficult to manage compared to other systems, yes. Not completely useless though you can still make some great beer :) Cheers!
