5:18 YAY! Pillows on the sun! We do this too in Slovakia. They get kinda fluffy, warm (and you can feel the warmth when you go to sleep) and get very nice freshness and "sunny smell". Recomend!
Yes, I believe this is also done for removing humidity from the pillows and futon to prevent bacteria growth and the uv rays kill any bacteria, etc in the bedding as well :) I love Japan LOL
That's the BEST tea, I'm always so happy when I find it here in California! And also, Ryuji is right about putting your pillows out in the sun periodically; thank you for reminding me to do this!!
It cracks me up when he says “Yaye” all high pitched. He’s so cute!! I am so happy for you. I feel like you will continue to have awesome adventures every day, and you are both so lucky to have found one another.
freaking love you guys. long time viewer but watching this makes my day just a bit better. My grandma was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and this put a smile on my face! thanks!
In Bosnia, where I am from, we also air out things (let it sit on the sun) anything from covers, pillows, blankets, winter jackets, even mattresses...you name it. Sun is a natural disinfectant and you get rid of any smells. So interesting that on the other side on the world, Japan, people do the same thing. Love it!
My apartment in Okinawa was one of my favorites. We had a wrap around balcony and two sets of sliding doors in the living room which let in so much light. I loved having the toilet separate from the shower (though ours was one level so there was no running up or down stairs). The shower room was literally the best thing ever, being able to control the temperature of it like that was so nice, and no shower curtains needed! I feel like the bath tubs over there seem a lot deeper as well, which I really like. I can't wait to see you guys get settled in, I hope you're loving your new place!
"They" say, "sunshine disinfects and removes old smells." Whaaat, I've lived in Japan just over a year and I didn't know there was a frozen drink section! Note to self. It's been so hot lately even my makeup setting spray is starting to fail me. I'd love a bike with a basket and child seat but they're so expensive. :-(
The apartment is so nice 🙂 hope you two will have lots of good memories in it. As for the pillows, it is riht that putting them in the sun make them "fluffy" cause the sun will dry all the sweat you lose while sleeping and so the feathers "recover". At least it is said so 😄
Oidaki actually means to re-heat later. Like, your hubby comes back from work and you already had your bath, he can just push the oidaki and it'll re-heat back to the chosen temperature. The other use of course is, my wife likes it a bit less warm so she goes first, then ups the temperature at the panel and 'oidaki' will re-heat, but since the target temperature is now set to higher, I get a proper one :)
@@KitchenWitchery The reheating function is actually an extra set of pipes that go back to the boiler. So basically the boiler takes some of your bathwater, heats it, and then pushes it back. No waste of water there :)
Hi Kelly, I Hope the weather has got cooler while you're reading my comment! I'm so happy for you. What you are building togeather, is just beautiful and I really like how you cope with the change and don't let it overwhelm you (if you also make a video about changes in life and how to deal with them, that will be awesome!). Wish the best for both of you.
We put pillows outside during winter when it is really cold like -20 celsius because it kills all the bacteria and gives them a fresh feeling :) Never heard about putting them in the sun! Maybe it depends if you live in the cold or warm climate.
The new apartment looks so good!! I like the fact that is a 2 and 1/2 story apartment! I miss Japan and its life over there! Have a fun and enjoy your new life at the new apartment! :) Thanks for sharing what's up!
Ooo my mom and dad does this (putting the pillows in the sun) because they said it helps vaporize the germs and air out the pillows. Man Ryujii is doing the the right thing.
Oh and Kelly you inspired me so much and I want to thank you for everything. You made me realize that I can move to Japan and be ready to face a new world. I want to teach in Japan and want to be a historian to explore many cultures . You inspired me to be positive and I could not thank you enough for your positivity and your outlook on life. I thank you okay
I've always wanted one of those baths too - I totally get it. New apaato looks like it'll be so nice to live in with all that sunlight - I can hear the excitement in your voice about decorating it. It makes me want to move too 😅
actually in my culture we always put pillows and mattresses out in the sun, it's like the sun kills any bacteria any bugs, removes away any kind of smell and just make it clean somehow. And the best part is when you take it back and put new sheets and lie there. you will have the best sleep ever.
Of course I like the videos and content. Half my entrainment though is seeing the captions trying to hear Ryuji. My favorite so far is “ Doogee “or “Dear G”
Your new place is beautiful! Moving there is expensive, I hope you can stay put for a while. I love Nara, I hope you get back there! Have a wonderful week.
I have a major sweet tooth too which is one reason why I always watch yours and Ryuji's love story with a big smile on my face. You're so sweet together! ❤😁💜
Oh my gosh, I am so EXCITED for you Kelly!!!!! Definitely can't wait to see how you will decorate it, I LOVE decorating and interior design:)) If you ever need help, I would love to help! Also, your place looks so cool!! The balcony is amazing and the stairs too!! YAY!!!! :D :D (PS: stay safe in the heat!) I can't wait to come in November:) eeeek!!
In Sri Lanka too we put our pillows in the sun .My mom still does this every weekend. Also the mattresses that are not heavy.Living in Japan I also do this in summer The pillows get so fluffy and fresh
Thanks for the advice! I plan to get a bike to ride to school every day, but not sure what I really need. Ill make sure to get an extra lock for my bike.
Thanks for sharing and congratulation 💐with the new apartment, it look great and I am sure you will both be happy there. We also put our pillows and duvet out on the balcony her in Denmark 🇩🇰 it keeps them fresh and clean.
When he put the pillows outside and said they'll become fluffy and the sun kills bacteria, it's true and more common than you think! My mom does this and my family is Polish. This is common in Europe.
GURL get a parasol that blocks UV and heat, I got mine at Donkihote for 980en!! They help, then make sure to buy clothes that are breathable so air gets through, UV block, and dries sweat, then get the neck fan, I saw a few people using them, it fits on your neck with two small fans pointing at your face. Then take a break from the heat by getting into a konbini a few minutes to cool of, and drink a lot of iced drinks. It is SO flipping hot especially in the west of Tokyo without the ocean cooling things off, not sure your area but as long as you be safe, you will be okay walking outside! What I will be doing when we get the new fridge on the 11th, 475L of glory lol, I'm going to make my own tea to freeze in used pet bottles, then when you go out, take one or two frozen drinks along with a metal tumbler that keeps your drinks cold, and make sure it's a decent size, none of the tiny ass size tumblers. Then you can use the tumbler to even dump the iced drinks at the konbini's into and they will stay cold longer.
My Ryuji taught me to put the the blankets as the sun kills bacteria and freshens it, so we'll hit them witht he paddle to get the dust out. DIDN'T think about my pillow, so not THAT'S out in the final few hours we have for sun today.
I’m planning a trip to Japan next year.. watching you videos is making me so excited to visit. Love the food, people and culture! Anyway totally loving your videos and I have just binged on several 💜New sub from Germany here!
Both of you are So Cool, you're two good eggs!!! Kelly, as you know by now, Ryuji is, 'Da Man! That is a great apartment, too, excellent choice guys. Glad you got your bikes, great way to travel and get some exercise at the same! Looks like everything is falling into place for both of you. I'm so glad you found each other and that you're both very happy! Congratulations on moving into your new spot!!! I forgot to tell you, Ryuji and I like the same beer and the ika snack that you hate, Kellyl 😂😂😂 Take Care, Guys. Can't wait for the next video. See Ya Later! ✌

Hey Kelly! Congratulations on your guy's new apartment! I was wondering-- do you think you could do a video on how to use public transportation in Japan? I'm still nervous about using the bus or trains. :/
Nice bike you got there, the color and design that I love too! 🤭 One tips tho, buy a bike with big wheels, so that you don't need to cycle as much for the same distance.. 🤭 Btw, love seeing you two being so sweet and loving, wishing you happiness everyday! 😘💖

@@TT-zd6nr I can imagine that. We are far far from coast, so we don't have this issue here. :)

Just want to say congratulations on your new apartments. The Japanese apartments are very, I'm so happy for you guys, have a great week.
Congrats on the new place! I was wondering how Ryuji's parents feel about him moving back to Japan? I figured they must be pretty excited!
It’s true about the pillows. Put them in the sun to kill bacteria. 👍🏼. Nice apartment.

Great video. There is a renewed brightness in your eyes and it's obvious you are happy. Keep it up. Blessings.
Putting pillows out to be disinfected by the sunlight is big in East Asia :P
Same in the SEAsia
And southeast asia!
He is right! Gets the moisture out of the pillows to keep it fluffy and nice!! My mom used to do it. I have memory foam ones now 😁
He’s right about the pillows. It’s always a good idea to stick them outside when it’s nice and hot to kill the germs. (Rugs and blankets as well)
In hungary my mum also put out pillows and blankets to the sun and I also did it and my bf really like it. After it so fresh and clean feeling :)
Laura Hime I would love to do that but I’m not allowed to where I live 😕
It’s good to do that as the sun will kill all the bugs that live off and eat dead human skin...

I love that everything is working out for you and it's all coming together. Life's a funny thing, but glad it's all on the up!
I do it. Airing bedding (and clothing) in the sun disinfects and makes fresh; it has a unique bleaching quality.
