    Oh my gosh, even I got super emotional watching the maiko dance and hearing the geisha play the shamisen. I bet it's considered weird behavior to cry, I don't know if I could keep it together if I was there in person!! This is a lifelong dream of mine as well, to have the geisha experience. So incredible!

      As well as the experience itself, it is knowing that there are centuries of stable tradition behind it.

    Amazing missing Japan now. I don't know why people thumbs down this maybe jealous of you. Keep making your vlogs and I will keep watching. It gives a good idea of how daily life is in Japan and reference to where to go the next time I am in Japan.

    Kelly, so far, this video was my favorite because of your dinner with the Geisha and the Maiko-san! Just like you, I'm an old softy, yes, I cried, as well. The Maiko-san's performance touched my heart! Thank you so much for sharing your special dinner with us! One of my trips to Kyoto I got to drink matcha green tea with a Geisha and her accompanied Maikos. It was a short visit that I had with them but very beautiful none the less. Can't wait to see the last video of your trip to Kyoto! Also, looking forward to seeing more videos of you and your fiance. Take Care, Guys. Peace.

    What a wonderful experience - to learn a little bit of Geisha training. So very fascinating, heart-warming, incredibly intimate, but unifying. Lovely, truly lovely. Thank you so very much for sharing. I so love and am fascinated by Japanese culture and appreciate every little bit of information - and again, LOVE the sharing.

    Japanese Yokai folklore stories are my favorite!! I'm a huge anime lover, and for some reason I'm really attracted to Anime with demons in them. I'm realizing a lot of anime's really incorporate the folklore into their story line and personalities of the demon. So cool! thank you for sharing

      Every region of Japan has its own dialect, every prefecture does, to be precise.
      Kyoto is in Kansai region as Osaka is, so broadly speaking, Kansai ben (dialect) is spoken in both prefectures, although if you break it down, Kyoto ben and Osaka ben are quite different.
      All Kansai dialects have the same intonation which is very different from that of the east.

    • @hayek218
      @hayek218 5 років тому

      Kyoto ben spoken by women are flowery and sounds the prettiest.

    • @Its-Kat_
      @Its-Kat_ 5 років тому

      The general dialects are Kansai been in Kyoto, Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, etc. But each prefecture will have differences only spoke on that area.
      You get the generalized commonalities in regions like Kanto speaking generally standardised Japanese, but you'll get differences in prefectures from Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, Saitama, etc. Every prefecture has is own dialect, but the generalities will be included into the lump category of regions because of similarities they share.
      Like Kyushu dialect includes all prefectures of Kyushu, but each prefecture within has it's own differences, like Hakata dialect in Fukuoka. The dialects can even go as far as each city could change very slightly, making the amount of Japanese used in the country so vast, many Japanese don't understand one another in some terms, phrases and accents.
      Thus, you see a lot of subtitles on TV here to make sure people understand clearly what's said.

      Most of them do. Just thing about as the US has different accents.
