    It felt soooooo good hearing that truck start. In Jamaica we would say: " wa no dead, no call it duppy" this means that, never write something off, until you exhausted every option.

    NEVER use bricks or blocks to put under jacks, They will bust and break and will cause the vehicle to fall on you and kill you! You guys have been very lucky so far.

    Looks promising. I believe in 85 that would’ve been an FLC 120 is probably a 425 being a B model. In its day that was a top of the line truck. Do a lot of cleaning fix the doors and you’ll have a pretty good reliable truck.

    • @vineslinger
      @vineslinger 2 роки тому +5

      That thing has an Aftercooler. It's not a B model it's an A. Probably 400 hp. but it may be more.

    • @dennishuntley7688
      @dennishuntley7688 2 роки тому +3

      Before late 86 a B model wasn't a 425 without Air2Air. 87 models had A2A across the board here in 🇨🇦.
      I had both a 87 LTS wit a 350 A2A and a 87 FLA 120 wit a 425B A2A. Great engines. I'd have either again.
      This one in the video has no A2A so my thought is it's a 350 or 400 Bmodel.

    When I started at this company in ‘93 they had 84-87 FLC120 with kittys 425 turned to the hilt and 15 DO with 3.23 rears. Had a lot of fun back then. Those CAT’s all had all over a million miles on them the last I knew. Awesome ride.

    Dear James Pretty and pretty wife.
    👍👌👏 Very well done (video and work). The engine runs really great.
    2) You two look and work really well together! Congrats for having such a relationship.
    3) This truck rescue was done pretty professional! Not like most of those backyard or farm "mechanics" amateurs. Especially your hint about having proper battery capacity for starting made me smile. Thanks also for not using ether starting fluid spray.
    4) Fortunately utube recommended this video to me. I'm also a big fan of Twin Sticks Garage Mark P. Hope you know and like him too. I also watch channel Bus Grease Monkey and Indiana Diesel for instance.
    Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
    Best regards luck and health to all involved people.

    I remember a lot of these were on the road when I started driving OTR in 1995. These were the top of the line back then.
    It's nice for the truck to be out of that prison and FREE AT LAST!! Many trucks of this vintage are making a comeback since the price of new ones (and the repairs of such) are completely unrealistic. You can legally drive the old trucks in all states except California (but then few drivers outside of big companies go there anymore)
    The cost to refurbish this to roadworthy condition will still be far less that buying a later model truck assuming you don't have transmission or rear end problems. It will be worth it.

    Little hint. Use a hedger with a flex head. Angle it with the ground and cut like your sweeping the floor. Will cut everything from glass to 3/4in thick brush in one shot. Not line to break. Been doing it for 20 years Luke that around objects. Can't beat it. Can even get the battery powered one from milwaukee. Get the 12ah battery tho. Best of luck!

    FTR, like the guys have said, you shouldnt use blocks or bricks BUT if you do, make sure the holes are going vertical.. Blocks and bricks are made to support weight only one way, hence why you dont see the holes on a block foundation, unless its being used as a vent. Former mason so I have a little experience :)

      So just as a quick explanation we didn’t come to Jack the truck up. Just to do a will it start and decided we has an hour to spend before the owner of the truck showed up and just gathered up things to use. Which ended up being concrete. We really didn’t expect to get it up but it made good content Appreciate the comments tho as always.
