I served my time at a CAT shop in England,75 to 79.This was an oldie even then.Fast forward to Australia in the 2020s,I see machines this age and plenty more still at work on remote stations clearing dams and fencelines.Only used now and again but worth holding onto.Yes,parts still available.
Dude your approach to walking up to anything with an engine is impressive. I would have walked away from engines that only needed new spark plugs; however, you pull off the unthinkable. That is so inspiring to us. I think if there were more of you out there. Noone would go out and buy new cars or trucks, because we would just have you fix them up at a cheaper cost. Looks like a 53A machine. D333 engine, 2 sp powershift. Very slow operating but in its day there wasn't anything else. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. 45yrs working on and for Cat.

I used to run a Cat 955 and 977 for a small excavation company, these machines were great and ran fairly strong all the time. Dead batteries were the only thing that stopped them from working. Use ours for lot clearing, cuttings pads and demo jobs. One of the bast and easiest machines to run, better if it has a 4 in bucket.
This is the type of things that I really love to do,bringing back an equipment back to life when it looks like it can't work again.You did a good job here.

That Loader is amazing man. It goes like a new one that sat ..& sat... & that it started so readily . It fired before the ether and the steering clutch/brake on the one side works "like new". This was the most progressive and entertaining "will it start?" in the history of old machines. ( and cars )
One of the best Will It Starts I have seen. This video inspired me to get started my Fathers' 1970s International tractor which sat for 12 years and water got in through a corroded exhaust pipe.
My dad actually ran one of those, day in and day out. He was an operating engineer and worked many jobs around Pittsburgh. It did my heart good to see you revive such a grand old machine.

It never ceases to amaze me how indestructible those old diesels are. I've seen dozens of videos where someone does a little work to one that sat neglected for decades and then they just run. Theres a bulldozer that has been sitting at an old farm not far from my home since I moved to the area almost 30 years ago, I remember my school bus would drive past it every day when I was in early high-school, if I remember correctly it had a US Army stencil on the side. Looked like it was very old. Maybe WWII surplus. Wonder if it would start.

I'm sittin' on an auto restoration project, that's got me tougue-tided, because the parts I'll need, are scarce and therefore my '91 GTI may sit shrouded, and housed for yet for another decade. But after I watched you toil-over all the repair issues it took resurrect the 977; I felt the need to put my dream machine, back on the road again. So, I have you to thank for the encouragement. I had my doubts about this one!! but "WOW" she started right up after a shot of either, and kept starting right after, I think if someone cleaned this old CAT up she would make a good yard Dozer.

A fellow from New Zealand named Marty T has a UA-cam channel and he has rescued a few tractors, bulldozers, excavators, and various types of machinery. One very good video shows a TD9 bulldozer that was abandoned way up country with serious mechanical issues and he rescued it and brought it back to life.
Without even watching this I can tell you this, I would buy that in a heartbeat, I've actually been looking for a front end loader cat for a couple years now. They're the ultimate utility machine. Used to have a international harvester drott with a three-in-one front loader bucket, owned it for years and used it for everything, finally sold it only because I couldn't find parts for it anymore
While watching this I thought about Andrew cause I watch him I know how he loves old machine . I thought he'd be perfect for it . Then you show the driveway I exactly where you were . Then you show the shop he built out of container I knew I was right . I know he'll give it a lot of love and attention it needs . It's found a good home with him. Looking forward to part two on this .

Back in the 80s I worked on and operated a 977 cat and they are a true working man's rig. Unbelievable how much abuse they can take and still go and the easiest rebuild I have ever worked with. King Cat.😊

I have 2 Cat 955s a K and an L. The K has a winch like that. when I bought they said it wouldn't move. It turned that the PIO lever was out of gear. I drove it off the truck. I cant believe someone would scrap that 977. Its a power shift and there are lots of valuable parts on it. Cat still supports 50+ year old equipment. Early 70s D7 G and Fs bring more than $50,000 on many sales and thats to dealers. The 977 has been rode hard and put away wet. When you see wear like that on the steer pedals and the pin holes are oval shaped, its worn out. The "mud" in the strainer is bacteria that grows in steel tanks with diesel or kerosene when water is present. it will stop up filters fast. Power Service makes a tank cleaner. Dont forget to put in antifreeze,

I’m pretty new to diesels having just bought a sail boat with an old Perkins/Volvo engine but I’m loving working on it (most of the time). They just seem more “alive” than petrol engines, more rugged. Loved watching this old bruiser come back to life after being forgotten for so long. 👍👍👍👍👍
That old beast reminds me of a early 1970s 955 we have at work. Our fleet shop just overhauled it and it's running like a champ. I haven't had a turn on it in 20 years as I'm no longer on the crew it belongs to but when I see it I get the itch to load a truck and make a run.:)
I've heard you should avoid the Force motors, but I do hope you get the boat. The boat builds are what brought me to your channel and I've stayed for the rest.

Rebuilt a old 977 trac loader back in the early 90's. It's still in use today. Love those older Cat's. Great job.

this vid is just incredible!! If you would have seen this piece sitting like it was in the woods, you would think it would never be useful again except for a scrapyard. It was amazing how you got that thing back to life again, it was cool how you knew exactly what it needed and how quickly you got it running again!! Great video!!!
A fellow from New Zealand named Marty T has a UA-cam channel and he has rescued a few tractors, bulldozers, excavators, and various types of machinery. One very good video shows a TD9 bulldozer that was abandoned way up country with serious mechanical issues and he rescued it and brought it back to life.
Without even watching this I can tell you this, I would buy that in a heartbeat, I've actually been looking for a front end loader cat for a couple years now. They're the ultimate utility machine. Used to have a international harvester drott with a three-in-one front loader bucket, owned it for years and used it for everything, finally sold it only because I couldn't find parts for it anymore
International drott was one of the first machines I ever drove. Was over 30 years ago and getting old then. I loved it though 😁
While watching this I thought about Andrew cause I watch him I know how he loves old machine . I thought he'd be perfect for it . Then you show the driveway I exactly where you were . Then you show the shop he built out of container I knew I was right . I know he'll give it a lot of love and attention it needs . It's found a good home with him. Looking forward to part two on this .
That old Cat has gone to a caring new owner with Andrew. Lots of people will have recognised Andrews driveway before it ran out of juice. Great video, thanks mate.

Well, that was awesome. As long as the motor was not seized up, I figured it would run. I’m surprised it had enough spark left in it to actually fire up. Looking forward to part 2.
Back in the 80s I worked on and operated a 977 cat and they are a true working man's rig. Unbelievable how much abuse they can take and still go and the easiest rebuild I have ever worked with. King Cat.😊

I have 2 Cat 955s a K and an L. The K has a winch like that. when I bought they said it wouldn't move. It turned that the PIO lever was out of gear. I drove it off the truck. I cant believe someone would scrap that 977. Its a power shift and there are lots of valuable parts on it. Cat still supports 50+ year old equipment. Early 70s D7 G and Fs bring more than $50,000 on many sales and thats to dealers.
The 977 has been rode hard and put away wet. When you see wear like that on the steer pedals and the pin holes are oval shaped, its worn out. The "mud" in the strainer is bacteria that grows in steel tanks with diesel or kerosene when water is present. it will stop up filters fast. Power Service makes a tank cleaner. Dont forget to put in antifreeze,

I’m pretty new to diesels having just bought a sail boat with an old Perkins/Volvo engine but I’m loving working on it (most of the time). They just seem more “alive” than petrol engines, more rugged.

That old beast reminds me of a early 1970s 955 we have at work. Our fleet shop just overhauled it and it's running like a champ. I haven't had a turn on it in 20 years as I'm no longer on the crew it belongs to but when I see it I get the itch to load a truck and make a run.:)
Operated the 977 with a 4 in 1 bucket for 10 years. That loader can do so many jobs and it's fun to operate. I miss that machine.
I've heard you should avoid the Force motors, but I do hope you get the boat. The boat builds are what brought me to your channel and I've stayed for the rest.
