Say goodbye to the starter if keep cranking like that, I'd definitely took off the fuel filters to be sure even had fuel in them & have some FRESH fuel there to top them off with.
So, I'm a trucker now, and I have a 2014 Peterbilt 367 day cab winch truck and I first drove a truck back when I was 14 years old when my buddy's dad in Allentown hauled 80k lbs of tin scrap from Allentown to Baltimore and I went on a run with him. God bless him, he let me drive his truck on the highway with an empty trailer and I've been wanting to get a CDL-A ever since. I was 31 when I got my current job and I first started pursuing my career as a truck driver, and my current company helped me to get my license. The truck that I have now has less than 50k miles on it, because my company bought it and only had one guy to drive it, so he didn't put hardly any miles on it. I've put 26k miles on it the past year and that's not alot either, but I also drive a 550 and a 750 with a gooseneck trailer for the smaller loads because my winch truck and 48' trailer is longer than all of the sand cans and most of the wellsites that I deliver to are very small and tight. Regardless, I love seeing older trucks like this revived and used because no truck deserves to sit and be deserted.
The CDL school I go to has two of them. One is parked (needs a belt tensioner) and the other one is used for parallel parking. It seems like everyone even the instructors HATE that truck. I even told the one instructor it's not bad on e you get used to the clutch....he walks away. 🤣🤣
I drove a 91 the stripes were a red and black, 425 cat, 15 spd direct. it wasnt fast but man did it pull..turned up to 500 hp .loved that truck but drove for a small company it got close to 500,000 on it ,it was gone
it needs all new lugs. it had fuel pumped up but the barrels or plungers are stuck in off position. common problem when they sit. I checked everything before we tried it just wasn't captured on camera.
It's got a good engine in it, but I was kind of upset to see that it didn't have a Series 60 in it. I have good memories of riding with my uncle in his FLD120 that was powered by a Series 60. He could out-pull nearly every truck on the road with that truck. It was a well-tuned machine.
1991 semi truck sitting there long time hope you get the monster moving tires are good condition tune up and battery replaced immediately awesome video friend bless you
That rattling noise when the battery was low is what blows engines up with ether. It sounds like it lived through the close call but that is extremely dangerous when not cranking fast enough. Just telling folks dont do that.
Sir just be careful starting these old diesel trucks around your young ones. Sometimes these old diesel engines that have been sitting around for years can run away from you if the rod is stuck in full power mode. And if they blow it will send shrapnel everywhere. Not trying to tell ya what to do. But their is some dangers to this. Great vid though I def subscribed.
It's kind of sad to think about it, if you never sell your vehicle, there will be a day you park it and never use it again. Just like as a kid, there was a day your parents picked you up for the very last time, and nobody realized just when that was. I hate having vehicles sit. Vehicles want to run. I once let a daily driver car sit for six months and it almost destroyed the piston rings. During its sit, all the trim became super faded and the clearcoat began to peel and the tires began to rot. I was shocked that six months did all that to a car that was in decent condition when I parked it. Now I have a truck that has been sitting for a few months because I have some of it apart to fix it and haven't gotten it back together yet. As soon as I'm able, I'm putting it back together and at least driving around my property until I get it on the road. I picked it from a scrapyard, got it running, turned out to be in better shape than I thought it would be, but it still needs a little work to make it dependable. I know it sat in the scrapyard for about a year.
You have no idea what you are doing.... Drop the old fuel, then change fuel filters. Then fill takes with fresh fuel, purge the filters, then START IT.
Fill the filters with fresh fuel. Then pump it up with the hand pump!! Crank it up for a bit. Then stop and refill the filters again. Repeat process until the fuel in the filters does not go down. Those old cats don’t like either. If it is the early series of cats. You can spin a main bearing so fast!!
rookie move. you always check all your fluid levels first and your filters then fill the filter bowl with fresh fuel and at least a full jerry can of fresh fuel in the tank.
Neqie, I would be afraid of snakes too! I know people that have gotten into their vehicle after it being parked for some time and while going down the road out slithered a snake. I'm afraid I'd be hopping out the door.
This video just happened to pop up on my feed and the channel name made me click on it to see if it was some of the Rusche family that I know. It is. I recognized Tim.
I’m definitely glad you got it started I love seeing old diesels live again. But gotta say it pains me to see someone spray that much ether into those diesels that’s so bad for the engine 😂😭 I know it’s a lot of extra time and work but you gotta make sure you check the oil and injectors or at least put fresh fuel in it before you start these trucks that have been sitting for so long lol. Great content though

That’s a gorgeous truck extremely rare take care of the old girl
Why is it rare?
@@19jody72 yeah I wanna know too
I'm not sure why UA-cam wanted me to watch this video but I'm happy I did

90s never dies still alive ❤
That looks just like the FLD I drove back in the mid 90's for a company called DTI out of South Dakota.
The CDL school I go to has two of them. One is parked (needs a belt tensioner) and the other one is used for parallel parking. It seems like everyone even the instructors HATE that truck. I even told the one instructor it's not bad on e you get used to the clutch....he walks away. 🤣🤣
Change the fuel filters !!
and dont spray and let it run on only ether
And change the oil!
SilverAero edition with the funky two piece fairing. I had a 94 just like it.
I love trucks and my Dad was a truck driver and my Dad passed away about 3 years ago
Hope you can still save it😉👍
I drove a 91 the stripes were a red and black,
425 cat, 15 spd direct. it wasnt fast but man did it pull..turned up to 500 hp .loved that truck but drove for a small company it got close to 500,000 on it ,it was gone
That could be a nice truck, dont hurt the engine. Need to prime the fuel system and have good batteries with charger/jumper cables.
Hello my friend writing with great pleasure🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔
I believe if you get some new lugs for the cables and solder them on good and get all the air bled out it should start and run!😎🇺🇸
it needs all new lugs. it had fuel pumped up but the barrels or plungers are stuck in off position. common problem when they sit. I checked everything before we tried it just wasn't captured on camera.
I like the way the sleeper is ,,grown" into the cab

Exelente! Saludos desde Tegucigalpa Honduras Centroamérica!
That truck HAD one really nice interior, sweet if it could be restored as it was a show truck from the factory!
Love the sound of a 3406!
It's got a good engine in it, but I was kind of upset to see that it didn't have a Series 60 in it. I have good memories of riding with my uncle in his FLD120 that was powered by a Series 60. He could out-pull nearly every truck on the road with that truck. It was a well-tuned machine.
That's some bullshit lol 60 series aren't powerful at all he didnt out pull anyone in an fld120 with a 60 series I'm sorry
I have a 60 series 550 HP ,ain’t out pulling a cat motor but it all depends on what rears you have at end of the day
They never made a 550 Series 60. If someone says they have one, they massaged one, but it isn't stock.
A 60 Series is not outpulling a cat, sorry. From the dealers, the Detroit Diesel is the weakest of the bunch.
1991 semi truck sitting there long time hope you get the monster moving tires are good condition tune up and battery replaced immediately awesome video friend bless you
Thank you! Bless you too❤
That rattling noise when the battery was low is what blows engines up with ether. It sounds like it lived through the close call but that is extremely dangerous when not cranking fast enough. Just telling folks dont do that.
Those kids are beautiful, truck is awesome 👍👍
Good way to train yur truck on starting fluid.
Disneys new "How To Train Your Truck"
In theaters this Friday. Lol
Not a bad looking Rig considering the amount of time it sat,bet a cleaned up Ole Faithful would look pretty good, hell I'd drive it
Sir just be careful starting these old diesel trucks around your young ones. Sometimes these old diesel engines that have been sitting around for years can run away from you if the rod is stuck in full power mode. And if they blow it will send shrapnel everywhere. Not trying to tell ya what to do. But their is some dangers to this. Great vid though I def subscribed.
Very good point, but to be fair think he already knew that as he is ready to block air intake to shut it down.
Im positive that's why he had the block ready for the intake
Freightliners are my favorite semis and this one with the blue on it were the coolest!!💓😎👍
Dang...perfectly good semi wasting away for 17 years.
1:16 When the instructor at Diesel Driving Academy says you can bring one index card to the test...
If meinberg owned it I drove it passed it one day coming out of Lansing mich.luv to have it fixed up
I really love your baby, your baby so beautiful,, love you brother
I know it sat in the scrapyard for about a year.
boys are too young ... they dont understand what a PROPER "toy" looks like !!!. Nice beast comming to life.
You'll gonna need a hefty amount of cash to restore it, but it is worthy if she just start rolling on the road and making money
Hello my friend writing with great pleasure🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔
I can’t believe you posted this video.
I can't believe alot of things.
You have no idea what you are doing.... Drop the old fuel, then change fuel filters. Then fill takes with fresh fuel, purge the filters, then START IT.
@matty d Blow out injectors? Yeah I'm sure you are the best at blowing "stuff out".
@matty d why would you want to blow the injectors with bad fuel... That sounds like a good way to clog them
Lucky he doesn't blow up batteries
New fuel won't hurt
Air in system
Fill the filters with fresh fuel. Then pump it up with the hand pump!! Crank it up for a bit. Then stop and refill the filters again. Repeat process until the fuel in the filters does not go down. Those old cats don’t like either. If it is the early series of cats. You can spin a main bearing so fast!!
rookie move. you always check all your fluid levels first and your filters then fill the filter bowl with fresh fuel and at least a full jerry can of fresh fuel in the tank.
Yeah ...Fuel... not gasoline like he said earlier!! 🤣😅🤣
Well he was drinking it looked like. Another rookie ass move, seriously.
@@moabt.frican7163 Running and driving video coming soon.
@@207mphgtr yeah. 5 gallon gasoline mix w 1/2 tank of diesel helps clean tanks.
Definately gonna buy one. Pretty famous and rare here in the Philippines these old FLDs.
Hello my friend writing with great pleasure🔔🔔🔔
Almost sounds like the fuel shut off isn’t moving, the solenoids clicking but it might not be pulling the rack to the run position, just a guess
yes the rack is stuck. Im hoping to free it up so i dont have to pull the pump.
you guessed right.
Neqie, I would be afraid of snakes too! I know people that have gotten into their vehicle after it being parked for some time and while going down the road out slithered a snake. I'm afraid I'd be hopping out the door.
Vicki Levy haha I know, it’s gonna be a little hard to jump out cuz that truck is high😂
Hello my frnd.im here to wacth ur video til the end.

Looks like an former DTI (Direct Transit Inc.) truck which was bought out by Swift in the mid 90's
All I can say is WOW!
Kid is gonna remember this day in papa’s arm 😽
Need about 25 more of those $25 batteries
This video just happened to pop up on my feed and the channel name made me click on it to see if it was some of the Rusche family that I know. It is. I recognized Tim.
Tell Tim I said hello and I look forward to seeing what he does with the Freightliner.
Thanks for watching! You can come down and see it in real life, the progress of it. And Tim said hello!
Rusche Family I would but I live in Florida 😂
I’m definitely glad you got it started I love seeing old diesels live again. But gotta say it pains me to see someone spray that much ether into those diesels that’s so bad for the engine 😂😭 I know it’s a lot of extra time and work but you gotta make sure you check the oil and injectors or at least put fresh fuel in it before you start these trucks that have been sitting for so long lol. Great content though
amazing how that truck still works .. waooo I love those video thanks already have one more fan
