    Wolf, you are so generous with your knowledge and time, I hardly know how to say Thank You. I have sent you a private email about a related topic. I must say, I have never seen or heard such a thorough, practical, and easily understood explanation of exposure compensation as this lesson. And the related Histogram lesson is equally mystery bursting!

    *We have the snow almost right up to the waistline here in Moscow Region (Russia) these days* 😀 Photographing the model in the wild snow\trees\bright sunlight, I used LCD almost exclusively to make sure the face is properly exposed... If you shoot mirrorless or your camera has any kind of face detection (e.g. over LiveView), then it will most probably expose correctly for the face. But I was testing Canon 6D with 9 AF points and only the central cross-type, so I could only do focus and recompose with exposure on the face and fully rely on post-processing RAW files, which allows to recover 1-2 stops in any direction. Surprisingly, the 95% turned out properly exposed and needed not corrective, but only artistic editing! So I can say trusting your eyes (with good LCD) is pretty fine technique 😎 P.S. The Vlog from that session (with picture examples) will be out on my channel in a week or two.

    • @wolfamri
      @wolfamri  3 роки тому +3

      Yes, for people shots spot metering at the focus point works really well. For landscape that’s a bit different though. I too trust my LCD, but you have to know it well 😉

    Great video and great tutorial Wolf. Thank you for this helpful information. Question: For cameras so equipped, how would "spot metering (Nikon DSLRs)" use impact what you have described / recommended?

    • @wolfamri
      @wolfamri  2 місяці тому +1

      Hank you! Spot metering is a bit tricky. If you are spot metering something middle gray, you will get the perfect exposure. But if the spot metered subject is darker or brighter, you have the same “problems” as with all other metering modes/areas.

    If it's possible in words, can u plz state the difference between this overexposing method and the method of adjusting the white balance?

    • @wolfamri
      @wolfamri  3 роки тому +1

      Yatish, white balance is about color difference, while this is about image brightness. Does that help?

    • @yatishgujjar
      @yatishgujjar 3 роки тому +1

      @@wolfamri So, does that mean that we are brightening up the overall image with this method whereas WB changes just the shade of the white colour?
      Also, does this mean that changing white balance doesn't have any impact on histogram?

    • @wolfamri
      @wolfamri  3 роки тому +1

      Changing white balance only has very minimal effects on the histogram (with the exception that there are histograms that show color - e.g. in lightroom and phototshop).

      @wolfamri  3 роки тому +1

      @@wolfamri Thank you for taking your time to clear my doubt, I was using white balance all these days to capture 'whitish' images, was fearing a bleached out image if I overexposed, now I'll co-relate with the live histogram and use it within that limit as stated by you :)
