    After Doug mentioned that he was curious about who voiced Darkheart, I looked him up. The Actor's name is Hadley Kay and much to my surprise he was in a TON of awesome movies and TV series, both animated and live action. He was one of the kids (bradley) in meatballs and he voice acted in a ton of nostalgic 80's shows; Ewoks, inspector gadget and the raccoons (which, if you're canadian like me, is pretty damn nostalgic) and he's still voice acting today.
    It may prove to be difficult, but Doug should try to contact him, not so much for a cameo appearance (though that would be cool), but to get a recording of him saying the line "Time for a game of Disappearing Bears" as a neat little tidbit to put in an NC episode.

    What I like about these two is that they will see the quality and merit of a movie or show that wasn't marketed to them. They were talking about how great the atmosphere and animation was in the first Care Bears movie. Honestly, I have to respect someone who doesn't just scoff and roll their eyes at what is basically cutesy schlock made for five-year-old girls, but instead sees that while obviously it isn't that great by adult movie standards, there is a quality and merit to these types of movies/shows that kids watch for a reason.
    Many people use the "It's for kids" excuse to justify a bad kids' movie, but that's not an excuse. While something can be for kids with little to offer for adults, that doesn't mean that kids' movies can't have effort or thought put into them.
    And if it teaches basic concepts like kindness and respect- which is something adults can learn from, honestly- then that's also great. I should clarify that children should not be gleaning all of their morals and lessons from television, but it's harmless if they do learn kindness from watching Care Bears or My Little Pony.

    Let's be fair about Toy Story 3: If I recall that movie right, they offered to give Lotso a second chance when they were all on the smelter, but he rejected it and tried to screw them all over again. The movie probably would have been nicer to him if he had a legitimate turnaround, but he kind of earned his sad ending there.

    • @SacridFire
      @SacridFire 8 років тому +5

      And, to be fair to Woody's group, they didn't do that to him, like they did to Stinky Pete (who actually ended up being happy where he was sent), it was the Truck Driver, so they really didn't shit on him. He just got what was coming to him.

  • @IcewhipRoxx
    @IcewhipRoxx 9 років тому +10

    The reason Stinky Pete in Toy Story 2 was so upset was because, all his life, he was considered mint in the box (I say "considered" because its revealed [SPOILERS] that he can get out of his box whenever he wants). When the Barbie Doll turns her head to talk to Pete and shows her painted face, it's revealed that his mint status will be forever ruined, due to the girl's implied tendancy to paint and glitter her toys. It's subtle (it took me a few tries), but it makes sense.

Never heard of the first film. I thought it was a mistake in the title until only a few years ago when I learned of the other one. But I love seeing them as babies, getting their symbols, growing up. I really wanted to go to that land. It seemed so fun to ride on clouds and rainbows. I loved the big scale of it and I actually found a lot of the songs in it very good and so catchy. I had a crush on Dark Heart. There are some similarities there between him and Jareth from Labyrinth. Anyway it's a childhood film that I'm still very fond of.

    Frankly, I think the Toy Story movies had villains that got off easy. Stinky Pete got so desperate he tried to dismember Woody, and they just shipped him off. Lotso let them all burn in the furnace, and they decided not to chase him or hunt him down. He just ran into a trucker that tied him to the grate. Call it karma.
    I want to say that's an Ontario accent-I was in Ontario last year, and it's kind of a midwestern/Philly/New York thing going on there.
    I do have to admit the first movie was the only decent one.
    I'm surprised you guys didn't talk more about the Wonderland and Nutcracker films-those were just lazily bad. Did the Care Bears have anything to do with the plots? They both had really terrible, confusing plots, and yet they were still better than the 3D Nutcracker or the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland.
    I'd like the real thoughts on the Alice in Wonderland film, by the way. One of my favorite reviews and one of my least favorite movies.

But yes that failed they laid off so many animators and help that failed to the Care Bears Movie picture that happening today. I think the second movie was a reboot. That's why it was called "A New Generation."

    I feel horrible for admitting this but.... I know what movie you're talking about at the end. It's Oopsy Does It. I know, I know, but I have an excuse for knowing this! I have a hoard of little brothers and sisters and I frequently have to watch their shows. I've never really understood a few of the Care Bears, how is being clumsy a characteristic of caring? For that matter, how is being grumpy one? Although Grumpy is the only reason Care Bears is very occasionally bearable (heh)(sorry, ignore that) he is only of use when he's not being what he naturally is. Why is he a Care Bear?

    I rather enjoyed the Care Bears. They're one of the many 1980s franchises that appeal to me.

    Sounds like Doug found the CBS remake from a few years ago, where Grumpy was less grumpy and was an inventor. The Hub had one where it was all CG and they would be teleport kids up to help with their problems. I prefer the ABC series of my youth. It was part action show.

    You know, there's times that I prefer these to the actual reviews, maybe I'm just butt hurt because of all the jabs they take at Pokémon and Phil Collins(though his Balto review was one of my favs) or I just like the wholesome nature and how honest and realistic they fell idk

    Actually guys you probably have heard the guy who played dark heart in other movies you just probably didnt notice it, a guy named Hadley Kay the the earliest thing you probly saw him in was, he was the kid in Superman 2 that falls off Niagara Falls. yes he is Canadian and he even used to voice the honey nut Cheerios bee I couldn't find a specific date but given all the commercial specials you done youve heard him as buzz

    The first movie had issues, the second was an incoherent mess even though it had a few things that did work.

    I pretty much agree.
    Like the frist movie is the best. It gets lazy with the songs, but makes up for it with an evil almost malesfisent like villian that will scare kids and adults alike.
    The 2nd movie is my fav but as a guilty pleasure rather than a better movie. It makes lit sense as the 1st. The only real improvement seens to be the songs but that's it (oddly songs get a lit better as the movies get wrose). The villian is cool but not quite as good as 1. So while its not as good, it has its moments that save it from being a waste.
    The last two... spin offs with one I'm shocked made it into cinema or heck TV in general instead of direct to video. While the 3rd isn't gawd awful (although I was still in diapers when I saw it and remember crapping myself when the Cat raps about a heart...), it's not good either. 4th one didn't know existed and wise it never did because it looks just pathetic.
    So 1 is the best, 2 is my fav but not as good, and... there was more than that?
    Heck Land Before Time has over 10 sequels but all to video or dvd.

    I always liked care bears 2 more than the first one as a kid (probably just because I thought Dark Heart was cute) but I can now look back and see that the first movie was the better one.
