Right there is the advantage to growing up poor in the 60/70’s. No one could afford Ribena and we were the last to be blagged to convert to seed/vegetable oil from tallow/lard
My doctor recently informed me, when I said I wanted to know which vitamins and/or minerals I may be deficient in, that I may not want to have those tests because they could cost me $1000s out of pocket. In fact just one test for one vitamin or mineral could easily cost me $1000.00. So when people take supplements, they usually don't know whether they are needed or not. They also don't know if they are causing an imbalance in the body. Catch 22!
@dr.elliephillips , Can I use cinnamon flavour instead of mint flavour Act Anticavity fluoride mouthwash? I am from India and I'm not able to arrange mint flavour.
I’ve been doing the program for a month and a half religiously. My teeth are cleaner for sure. I still have my recession top and bottom and it’s still kinda sensitive as I brush. But I’m pushing it, hoping that the program will solve the issues. I see a lot of other dentist and doctors in general saying to brush your teeth first thing in the morning before breakfast. What are your thoughts about that, Also, how often should we change our toothbrush? Thank you!
It doesn't make sense to brush before eating, then leaving your mouth in an acidic state. I brush/rinse at 8:00 am, then nothing passes my lips for at least an hour (except xylitol mint). I brush again at 8:00pm, couple of xylitol, then let the mouth rest till bedtime. You are using two toothbrushes, right? One for AM and one for PM. I get new ones after about 3 months. I also dip my toothbrush in Listerine after use, then rinse, and let it dry for 24 hours.
@@vickis.9363 yeah.. that’s what Dr Ellis preach on her system, and I’m following religiously every single day. I have watched all her videos. I just never heard her talking about the questions I made, reason why I would like to know her thoughts. :) Thank you for your input.
Hi, Dr. Ellie, I would love to try using your complete mouthcare system, but I live in a country which literally has none of the products you mention in your system for sale. I did srart using xylitol though, as there are many vendors that sell it in one form or another. Are you planning on doing the list of alternative products, which can be used to more or less replace the products present in your system?
I wish I heard of your earlier in my life. I’ve had so many unnecessary white filings and I regret not speaking up against getting them. I think I’ve made my teeth worse now because of those fillings, but I’ve started using the Mouth Care Protocol and I really hope to preserve my teeth from anymore cavities. I’m also going to refuse any future fillings 🙏
I am still very worried about all the Fluoride in the products that Dr Ellie promoted. I have been doing the programme for two weeks now and I constantly have slight headaches after each application. My gums also seem to be more pale now.
Try watching her video again of the step by step process, make sure you are following the program to a T. If you need more guidance, you might enroll in her bootcamp. It goes into much greater detailed information. But the best part is, she will answer all your questions personally. She's given me some excellent advice about my particular concerns. I have steered away from fluoride products my whole life and never bought teeth products outside of the health food store. It was a huge step to go to the drugstore and get these mainstream products. But I couldn't be happier with the results. She's found the key to excellent dental health.
Dr. Ellie, could you discuss the probiotic effects of raw milk and raw cheese, and saliva, particularly A2/A2-protein-type raw milk? I know of someone who stopped brushing his teeth altogether and just consumes raw milk every day and apparently has a very healthy mouth.
Dear Dr. Ellie, I stumbled upon your videos and I really want to give your regimen a try. I had pretty bad teeth my whole life. Now I'm 40, already had two root canal treatments and therefore two crowns and pretty bad breath which my wife is disgusted of even if she's trying to hide it. I need to change that. Now I have three questions which I hope you can answer: 1. Your recommended Products are rather hard to get in Germany, can you recommend a european available alternative to ACT? 2. Since I already have tons of plaque, would you recommend to get one last dental cleaning before starting your regimen? 3. My son (6yo) has MIH (chalky teeth). Do you know how to address that? Is there a way to help him get healthy teeth?
I’ll tell you what really helps our teeth, besides Dr. Ellie’s regimen… The Carnivore Diet. Not even joking. And it’s imperative for children. Dr. Ellie recommends to _not_ get a dental cleaning before starting the system; just start it directly. She says to give it at least 3-6 months before going to any future dental visits to improve your oral health first.
Look into neem and perhaps you can combine with xylitol. To learn how to use xylitol Zellies.com blogs. There are shipping companies which will give you a US mailing address - and they can ship NON liquid products internationally. MyUS.com is a company that does this.
There are alternative. We can’t order her system to be delivered to uK, so I’m trying to source everything separately ( Amazon uk ) and should work ok. I’ve got everything in the basket so can’t give you my review on how the alternatives work, however have done quite bit of reeding and those alternatives were recommended by people living outside of US and using her system
It’s a liad of rubbish 😮if you want to look after teeth n gums , put a tea spoon of coconut oil in your mouth and rinse it around for about 5 minutes after your last meal , rinse it out then spit it out don’t drink or eat for about 30 mins let it soak into your gums 👍🏻
Dr. Ellie, i’ve been following your program for about four weeks now. My teeth feel great, and I noticed a visible reduction in plaque. Last week I had a dental appointment and was looking forward to it… curious to see if my hygienist noticed a difference. She did! She commented a number of times that my gums looked so healthy, and I had very minimal plaque to scrape off. It wasn’t until after she expressed all that that I told her I was doing some thing different! So, thank you so much! I always dreaded going to the dentist, and now I have optimism about the health of my teeth. The only thing is, I’ve noticed, particularly in my front teeth, increased sensitivity to temperature and the air blown on my teeth during the exam. I used to use Sensodyne for my sensitive teeth. But now that I’m using your program, I am using the Crest and the sensitivity is happening. Can you advise what I should do about this sensitivity? Thanks!
Dr. Ellie answered someone's question in another video about sensitivity after starting the program with this info: "In most cases they are not using correct products. Or they are not practicing any "mouth resting"...the 2 hours after xylitol when you do not eat or drink anything. Some have chewed the gum for too long. 2-10 minutes max - followed by no eating or drinking - not even water. Severe tooth sensitivity = a nerve problem. You should have that tooth checked by an endodontist - and this would have nothing to do with my system. You likely have a filling or a crown that upset the tooth - sometimes this happened as long as 5-10 years ago." This commenter wrote back to her about 2 weeks later: "The sensitivity has now completely gone. I rested my teeth as you recommend and also stopped the Listerine for a few days. Pleased to be back on track." Sometimes people keep Listerine in the mouth for too long. The usual time is 30-45 seconds, but the rule on Listerine is really to only keep it in until it starts to feel hot, then spit it out. For some people, this may only be a few seconds at first until their mouth gets stronger and they can gradually work their way up longer.
Hello Dr. Ellie! I have been watching your videos for a while and decided to comment. Although I don’t have dental issues and never have, I DO have an overgrowth of good bacteria and yeast in my gut, which was discovered w/ testing. I did a little research, and apparently mouth bacteria can overflow into your gut. These bacteria have never caused issues with my teeth, but I have various autoimmune conditions. Would using the Listerine every 12 hours possibly help with the overgrowth in my gut? I know our saliva naturally has good bacteria and it can replenish itself, but I have too much in my body.
Hi Dr. Ellie! I discovered your channel the other day when I started to get a throbbing tootheache on one of my rear bottom molars. I went to the dentist today and after an x-ray they recommended I get my wisdom teeth removed, as its beginning to press through the gums on one side and is making it impossible to clean effectively. Now that I'm armed with some of the techniques you've taught for nurturing the healthy bacteria in the mouth and rooting out damaging plaque from the source, I am wondering if I should still go ahead with a treatmet like this. Or perhaps just more generally, is there ever a good reason to have them removed? I always hear conflicting things about wisdom teeth.
After trying to keep my wisdom teeth two bottom ones got infected and impacted worst pain ever I was so relieved once they were removed! I'd suggest just get those out they cause so many issues
From Dr. Ellie's book: "Tooth-protective foods to snack on or end meals with: Salty nuts, nut butters, bananas, apples, pineapple, alkaline vegetables of all kinds such as celery, avocado or potatoes; cow’s milk, kefir or yogurt, cheese, dark chocolate, and of course xylitol. If xylitol is not available, these foods can make the mouth alkaline." She is also very big on strawberries, which contain natural xylitol.
Dr Ellie, could please investigate Colgate Neutrafluor 220? It’s a possible alternative for your ACT recommendation for Australians that costs 1/4th the cost of the ACT and the shipping 🙏❤️
If I drink fresh squeezed lemonade with maple syrup throughout the work day - can I drink the beverage in 2-3 intervals, and after each drink swish the mouth with an herbal tooth powder combined with baking soda mixture?
Not recommended. Read her book "Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye" to fully educate yourself 😊 basically you better swish the mouth with xylitol, and avoid baking powder, especially after drinking acidic things as citrus juices
@@dupenzi no. It's mostly because it's too abrasive and actually remove an important layer that supposed to protect your teeth from cavity formulating bacteria to thrive (they thrive in acidic environment + baking powder removed the protection = super vulnerable teeth)
Sometimes minerals are synergistic. Like copper with magnesium or selenium with iodine. You can take a magnesium supplement while eating liver, or eating kelp with Brazilian nuts.
@dr.elliephillips Umm…well I looked up medical research papers from universities mostly about the ratios of minerals in the body. Then I research people like yourself to verify my findings coupled with personal experience. I’m not a doctor so this process takes years. I just simply noticed that somethings are one for one like selenium with iodine. Eating to much selenium caused my body to become deficient in iodine. Which resulted in not enough thyroid hormone to regulate my metabolism. Same is true with copper making magnesium more bioavailable. Calcium is different in that it regulates the Ph of the blood. So it’s one of the few things that you can have a little excess in, but it’s not really going to build bones without phosphorus and sulfur. You can legit build bones or remineralize with eggs and milk. Although it’s easier to just make bone broth since the ratio is already there.
Why don't you talk about having a mouth that is too alkaline? It leads to bacteria and gingivitis as well. A study found that the pH of saliva from population having chronic generalized gingivitis was alkaline.
For oral health, is there a difference between Xylitol derived from corn and Xylitol derived from birch? Information online is conflicting. Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
The xylitol from corn cobs is no different than xylitol from birch trees; they work exactly the same. However, xylitol from corn cobs is more environmentally responsible, because the corn cobs would otherwise be wasted and just thrown in the landfill, whereas for birch, they have to strip the birch bark to extract the xylitol, and when trees have had enough of their bark removed, they die. So birch xylitol kills a whole lot of trees. It is best to get non-GMO xylitol.
So right now Dr Eric Berg has posted a video on his UA-cam site promoting the benefits of drinking "clove water" at night. Didn't you once post a cautionary video about using cloves and how damaging they are to your teeth?
I'm also worried that we are not supposed to rinse after any step. ALL PRODUCTS she recommends clearly say that one SHOULD NOT SWALLOW it and that you should rinse after use. If we don't rinse, we are 100% going to swallow tons of the stuff. I keep spitting for 15 minutes after application but I can feel that I'm swalling tons of dangerous chemicals that are not supposed to be swallowed.
I actually rinse with water in between as I am afraid of the same thing. I think as long as you use the mouthwashes to get between your teeth, you can rinse with water. At the end of the night, before bed, you chew your 2 Zellies mints before you go to sleep & that helps your saliva heal your teeth while you sleep.😉
Don't be so fearful! I don't rinse with water and I don't swallow either. If you rinse after the Closys, you just reacidify your mouth, defeating the purpose of the first rinse. The Closys creates a neutral pH in your mouth to prepare it for the Crest. You need the Crest on the teeth before the Listerine because the fluoride creates an ionic charge around the teeth that protects them from the acidity of the Listerine. The Act following the Listerine neutralizes the acidity. They work synergistically. Do not rinse at any stage if you want this system to work. It works perfectly as I can attest.
But each step you rinse with the next mouth washh. So it's only the last rinse that you're not rinsing. And you will swallow tons of fluids, just a few millilitres.
Me too, I'm exactly the same; diligently trying to keep up the system, but not wanting to swallow and endless saliva! Now I do rinse at the end a little, because I think at least I'm getting some of the benefits. My last batch of listerine from Amazon made my lips swell up and crack...I'm from UK, and have to trust suppliers who haven't seen the products they supply and don't know their supply chain. Also my most recent Closys from Amazon has changed bottle. Can anyone reassure or any ideas? Thank you

Hello! Dr.Ellie….can I use your complete mouthcare system for my 8 Year and 4 year old daughter.I am worried about their teeth’s my elder daughter she got filling in her permanent tooth 😢
Children 6 and older who know how to rinse and spit can use my system with great success. I think you should use it yourself first - so you fully understand how it works and how it feels. I also have an oral health video bootcamp which can help you learn more about the various steps.
@@vickis.9363 Please be aware that staining can also happen due to porosity, e.g. after too much artificial cleaning and whitening. DO check the previous video by Dr. Ellie 🙂
I just love how my mouth feels after using your system for 1 year. My dentist is shocked. The only problem I have is the gum recession between my teeth from using toothpicks for years. I'm guessing the damage is done, but if there's hope, I'd like to hear. Thank you, and you are looking great. ❤
Ensure you have the MOUTHWATCHERS flossing brushes that I recommend and ensure you do the gum massage on the inside surfaces of these teeth. I have an oral health video bootcamp at DrElile.com that you may find useful - to boost your results a bit more.
My position on flossing is that it is an ineffective way to CLEAN plaque off your teeth. The regular use of xylitol will eliminate plaque - so it does not form - but that takes some months to achieve. The idea is to use other methods as suitable to clean your teeth - the toothbrushes i recommend are "flossing brushes"....the rinses I recommend swish between teeth.
I'd say you should make up your mind whom you trust - or, if you are following my system, maybe do your own test. I have been using my strategies (6 month rinses every day for 40 years) and I have the widest diversity of healthy bacteria tested, optimal denitrifying bacteria ( and optimal nitric oxide testing) and zero plaque bacteria ( and the joy of not having needed a dental cleaning in the past 40 years). Now who was telling you this? How is their oral health? There is one mouthwash called Chlorhexidine that has been shown to be aggressive towards the microbiome. Most of the confusion was caused by people not reading the studies and very poor study reporting + the crazy Media headlines - that you cannot ever believe.
@eugenijusdolgovas9278 You didn’t pay attention attentively to my comment. I ALMOST NEVER GET EXCITED eating my food, and that means I ALMOST NEVER ENJOY eating it. So that means I’m NOT GETTING THE FULL VALUE OF NUTRITION POSSIBLE. Basically what it means, I have to reorient my entire thought process on food, because I would eat dirt to survive if God would allow it lol. Right now, I really enjoy pinto beans but I’m going to eat it with bones. I also enjoy romanesco and cacao. Tripe is also good. Sprouted lentils with beets, lemon juice, avocado, pink salt, and lettuce is really delicious…see? A recipe that doesn’t require cooking. Then there’s chilies. I am so infatuated with chilies because they’re delicious. I’m going to make my own habanero and chipotle hot sauce. This is going to be like an episode of “Delicious In Dungeon.”
If you buy food at the supermarket that can also be the cause. If you can get food directly from a farmer or grow or gather some yourself it can make all the difference, as nowadays most food is bred and systems engineered for it to grow fast and look fresh long, but sadly often has little taste and few nutrients.
@barbarakastelic3406 This is also true. Unfortunately I live in the desert southwest. So not a lot of options when it comes to buying locally. I have thought about making my own prickly pear jam, or this Mexican style candy that I forget the name of…but instead use xylitol to sweeten it! Anyhow, the best I can do locally is buy from Sprouts. Which has a good variety of organic, small farm raised, or wild caught foods.

Does it make sense to eat your salad after your main meal instead of before?
My doctor recently informed me, when I said I wanted to know which vitamins and/or minerals I may be deficient in, that I may not want to have those tests because they could cost me $1000s out of pocket. In fact just one test for one vitamin or mineral could easily cost me $1000.00. So when people take supplements, they usually don't know whether they are needed or not. They also don't know if they are causing an imbalance in the body. Catch 22!

What are your thoughts about that,
Also, how often should we change our toothbrush?

Don’t forget, there’s lots of vitamin C and greens too, which I eat a lot of!

I am still very worried about all the Fluoride in the products that Dr Ellie promoted. I have been doing the programme for two weeks now and I constantly have slight headaches after each application. My gums also seem to be more pale now.
Stop using the products if you are not comfortable with them
Try watching her video again of the step by step process, make sure you are following the program to a T.
Gums being more pale is a good thing! Red gums indicates inflammation and possible gum disease...
I too have been experiencing unusual headaches after using some of the products

Now I have three questions which I hope you can answer:
Ellie’s regimen…

Dr. Ellie recommends to _not_ get a dental cleaning before starting the system; just start it directly. She says to give it at least 3-6 months before going to any future dental visits to improve your oral health first.

Thanks!
Mine felt kinda sensitive at first too, but it went away and now my teeth feel great🙂 Maybe it's just like an adjustment period to the program🤔
@@Su-kros Thanks for your message and encouragement. I’m going to keep going and hope that it gets better for me, too.
Dr. Ellie answered someone's question in another video about sensitivity after starting the program with this info:
"In most cases they are not using correct products.
You likely have a filling or a crown that upset the tooth - sometimes this happened as long as 5-10 years ago."
This commenter wrote back to her about 2 weeks later: "The sensitivity has now completely gone. I rested my teeth as you recommend and also stopped the Listerine for a few days. Pleased to be back on track."
Sometimes people keep Listerine in the mouth for too long. The usual time is 30-45 seconds, but the rule on Listerine is really to only keep it in until it starts to feel hot, then spit it out. For some people, this may only be a few seconds at first until their mouth gets stronger and they can gradually work their way up longer.
Celery, beets, and spinach are high oxalate.
Pair with cheese/ dairy, binds to calcium and gets expelled.
I read in a scientific study that spinach isn't good for teeth if bits are left on them, as it's high in oxalates.
Correct!
A Carnivore Lifestyle is best for our teeth. 💯‼️👍🏽😊
Are there foods that are especially good for gums, besides just eating an overall healthy diet?
Hello Dr.
Please Dr.Ellie can you talk about rubbing banana peel on teeth? Does that really remineralize teeth which whitening them? Thanks a lot! :)
I remember Ribena and, what's more it's still on shelves. Every kid used to drink that stuff.
Pot noodles are bad, they always give me toothache, but my saliva soon soothes it.
Not every kid 😁 In my neighbourhood it was a posh drink that you had once in a blue moon.
What ingrediens/food is good for teeth..

@@buddha4taya Is that because the high ph baking soda reacts explosively with low acids?
@@dupenzi no. It's mostly because it's too abrasive and actually remove an important layer that supposed to protect your teeth from cavity formulating bacteria to thrive (they thrive in acidic environment + baking powder removed the protection = super vulnerable teeth)
Sometimes minerals are synergistic. Like copper with magnesium or selenium with iodine. You can take a magnesium supplement while eating liver, or eating kelp with Brazilian nuts.
Thank you for this knowledge.
Where do you consider a reliable resource.
@dr.elliephillips
Umm…well I looked up medical research papers from universities mostly about the ratios of minerals in the body.
@ Thank you for this info!
So right now Dr Eric Berg has posted a video on his UA-cam site promoting the benefits of drinking "clove water" at night. Didn't you once post a cautionary video about using cloves and how damaging they are to your teeth?
The video is called How To Use Clove Oil For Toothache | Be Careful of THIS...on her channel.
Okay, but it is full of Ribenaberry goodness (or so I've heard)
Thank you

Ok. If you stop flossing, how can you clean between your teeth?
My position on flossing is that it is an ineffective way to CLEAN plaque off your teeth.
The regular use of xylitol will eliminate plaque - so it does not form - but that takes some months to achieve.
The idea is to use other methods as suitable to clean your teeth - the toothbrushes i recommend are "flossing brushes"....the rinses I recommend swish between teeth.

Dr Ellie, I just heard that mouthwashes can destroy our microbiome? What do you know about this? Thanks for your reply!
That sucks. I almost never get excited about the food I am going to eat…guess I just need to get better recipes.
You didn't watch the video attentively. You don't need to cook anything except meat to live a healthy life.
@eugenijusdolgovas9278
You didn’t pay attention attentively to my comment.
@barbarakastelic3406
This is also true.
I'm sure not everyone can eat like that.
Why not?
