Something i learned as I'm getting older is at that age (teens, early 20s) people want so bad to find an identity, and define themselves in some way. I want many of you who are just coming into adulthood to remember that your identity now will not be the identity in 10 years, and 10 years after that. This is to say, both the person and the people around that person often find themselves identifying to a persona, a phase, a lifestyle, and they decide that's who they are, and that's not the case. We as humans are everchanging, and nobody should ever have expectations of not changing. That is growing up, going through different motions of life. As one comment here said, this kid should've stayed home, make music and stream videogames. But for his perceived identity, he couldn't. But the reality around him, and often fame, is money comes in, the reality begins to change, and there must be an open mind to change identities, start playing a different game and behaving in a different way. All this to say, don't trap yourself in your identity when you're still figuring out how to navigate through the world. Allow changes, allow pivots, allow shifting of mindsets. Then you can come into identity more and more and more as time passes. Shit, my 45 year old brother just told me he's shifting careers. I'm really beginning to believe no one ever truly figures out 100% who they are. But you can figure out enough to create stability, prosperity and betterment for yourself and everyone around you if you allow for growth.
thank you for this advice bro, im 19 and you are so right on the money on me trying to define myself in someway and I think this kinda hinder my growth as a person, I want to stay what I think is authentic because I think that was my identity but then I realize that some of my behavior are not good and need to change
