One day in 1983 I was standing out waiting for my school bus to pick me up. When the bus arrived there was a substitute driver. This new driver had on a different radio station than the usual country easy listening. Motley Crue was blasting and I was forever changed into a metal head. I never looked back.
It's about a girl, sometimes using a car as an analogy/metaphor/simile. Lots of metal songs use metaphors to talk about girls, even lots of rock n roll from the 50's did that.
I saw Crue on their "Shout at the Devil" tour they opened for Ozzy and they were amazing. They were a great live band when Vince was young and could still sing.
I’ve heard this song at least a hundred times and never once considered it might be about a car. I’m laughing now because I can actually see it with the lyrics! The video shows it to be about a girl but you gave me something to think about haha.
If you guys want to see how crazy rock was in the 80s, you need to watch The Dirt. It's a movie based on the biography of Motley Crue. You can't even imagine the stuff they did and the movie doesn't even cover half the stuff in the book.
When I was 17 I saw this tour when the Crue were the support act for Ozzy's Bark at the moon tour at the Meadowlands, New Jersey. Definitely filed under a fond memory.
I hope you do “Wildside” and do the video 🙏🏼 So many reactors have done the video without getting blocked. The drum cage comes out and does flips! It’s definitely a video you don’t want to miss. Dr. Feel good is another great one.
Tommy has done so many cool things with his drum set from rolling it to having it on a rollercoaster track. Y'all need to see some of that shizz. Y'all are also cool, cool black. 😜

Mötley Crüe is my first love and holds the key to what I listen to now. Shout at the Devil was the first record from them I heard when I was around 11 yrs old. Always brings back memories when I listen to the older Crüe.
"She's a cool, cool black". Based on the writing style and context I'd guess it's referring to her look, as in black attire, probably hair, makeup, and even personality or aura. Creature of the night kind of thing.
Kind of always thought that "black" and "back" kind of sound like a rhyme. Never thought much more about it. The Crue have never been known for the deep meaning in their lyrics.
It was a biker friendly bar I used to go into a lot. The bar tender Tina used too say In stead of "shout at the devil" she would say "Prout is the Devil" lmao
This Album "Shout at the Devil" Introduced me to the 80s metal scene , especially this song. This is still one of my favorite albums. Thanks for another great reaction guys.. it is so fun to watch you guys react to all of these songs that I loved when I was a teenager, keep up the great entertainment you two are awesome.
Well they've actually had to clarify some things to appease the METOO masses, Sixx was recently kinda badgered in an interview to explain their behavior and "how could they???"
You got it right, Lex! The blonde one is the one singing (Vince Neil). There is a video to it. It's very 80's-ish. But ya'll could still watch it off camera. It reveals them in their prime, arrayed in all their glory and splendor 🤘
The video for this was the very 1st one I watched when MTV first aired on cable....I woke up to get ready for school and turned on the tv to check out the new channel and this was what I saw. 👍😁🤘
One thing is for sure, the Bad Boys of Rock N Roll knew how to put on one hell of a show. The ladies always left a Motley Crue concert with less clothing than they arrive with. LOL
Motley Crue rules! Check out Lay It Down by RATT. Again, She keeps her motor clean. Could be a car or a woman...... The blonde one would be Vince Neil the lead singer.
Love it! This was off the Crue's second album. For an even more raw sound of theirs to react to, 'Livewire' from their first album is a diehard fan fave.
The pic in during the guitar solo was on the back of the album cover. From left to right: Nikki Sixx - Bass/Lyrics; Vince Neil - Vocals; Mick Mars - Guitars; Tommy Lee - Drums. This album hooked me immediately and remains my top favorite from The Crue to this day!!! #Crue4Life
I first heard this in junior high school, and to this day it still gives me goosebumps when I hear it, just like that first time. I didn't have any particular musical preference up through age 14, then I heard "No One Like You" by the Scorpions, which also still gives me goosebumps 40 years later. A couple of months later I heard this, and I was hooked: a metalhead was born. And when Crue played Seattle on this album's tour, the next day the school changed: Motley Crue shirts, bandannas, hats, etc., being worn by HALF the school.

Please to do there song PRIMAL SCREAM it’s one of my favorite Motley Crue songs! Nikki Sixx wrote there songs, he was abandoned by his father at 3 and felt abandoned by his mother at 6 and lived on and off with his grandparents and became homeless at 13 moved to LA and had a dream of becoming a rockstar and lived and rocked on the sunset strip, formed one of the biggest bands in history Motley Crue and became a addict, he’s been in sobriety for 20 years but did use Primal Scream therapy as a tool to deal with the trauma of the pain from feeling abandoned as a child!
