Brad's weakness is when Lex goes crazy or is having fun... He cracks that smile and gets out of his own head.. I love seeing that! Lex is the cutest and most fun UA-camr to watch!
no argument from me. cutest reactors Lex and, Livy from Dean Bros.
And a total rocker girl.
She doesn't analyze, she just grooves. Perfect!
That is the sign of a true couple. She breaks him out of his shell
He’s kinda Conservative ,why Are they Together ???
Yes, this was awesome! Eyes Without A Face is a must listen!! One more thing. Billy Idol is just as much fun to watch as he is to listen to so don't rob yourselves of the whole effect this man bring to you!!!
you should check out black wedding by in this moment w/rob halford
If you do watch the vid check the HAIR...Not so much big 80s but punk.
That song is deep. Definitely worth the research of how it came to exist.
Flesh for fantasy is good too
@@rhondahandley9595 love his hair, love his voice.
80's clubbing was awesome ,all these great bands and dance music. I remember all the guys singing the "With a rebel yell, she cried" and then the girls would scream "MORE,MORE,MORE" . seeing several thousand people at the club doing this in unison made those nights even more memorable.
That's awesome! I didn't get to go out night clubbing til the 90's. There was an 80's room, but it wasn't quite the same. Sometimes the 80's room would be kinda gothy too.
But most of the music was House & Trance & Dn'B/Jungle.
I remember going to the dance clubs in the late 80's. During the Mony Mony song, guys would yell "No Fat Chicks aloud" and "Get laid, get fucked" Great times!
Yeah they did! Fun times!
White Wedding was the first song I remember from him...I was addicted immediately! Eyes Without A Face is a must too!
Really have to see him in action! Try Mony Mony, White Wedding, or anything really! So fun!
Yes, watch the music videos. He's lit and brings a whole other dimension to the songs.
Yep, my very first thought after" Damn, Brad is sitting there all staunch and thoughtful and Lex is "give me 'more'" was "White Wedding" would blow their minds.
especially Rock The Cradle of Love
Dancing wit myself is another great song/video
I just recommended the same two songs. He's great live! Got to see him at Warped Tour one year. It was awesome bc I grew up listening to Billy Idol, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Janet Jackson, & Paula Abdul.
Billy Idol is great,a mix of rock n roll, punk, new wave and pop of the 80's,had a lot of hits. His guitarist,Steve Stevens,is fantastic too.
He is basically the Labyrinth in real form.
Steve Stevens is relativly unknown, but that dude can certainly play. Got both of the Black Light Syndrome LPs he did with Tony Levin and Terry Bozzio. He also played on the Top Gun OST.
@@tornoutlaw Yes! Have them too, "Duende" is a surprising flamenco inspired gem!
Dont for get he was with Sousie Souix for a bit too.
Steve Stevens also did work with Michael Jackson, most famously playing guitar for the song "Dirty Diana".
Billy can still sing the way he did when he was in Generation X. So good live.
In generation x?
@@picklefish74 A band he was in when he was younger.
Billy was unique in the sense that he brought punks and rockers together at the time. Something similar to what Tool did later on (and I'm paraphrasing Maynard), bringing fans of The Cure and Ozzy together.
Just saw Billy and Steve on Jimmy Kimmel Thursday night, performing a new tune, Bitter Taste. Still Billy, through and through.
Was? Still is
@Voodoo
Just saying that at the time it was fairly unheard of. But yes, Idol and Stevens continue to amaze and inspire.
I always thought of the Cure fans as my little emo sister tagging along.
The official video really gives life to this song. You need to see Billy performing this for the whole experience Seriously
I don’t like the effeminate guitarists on that video though They look awfully effeminate 🤮🤮
This song was inspired by Rebel Yell Whiskey. He was partying with the Stones and saw Keith Richards drinking it,and told him he was going to write a song called Rebel Yell and he did.
I have rebel yell tattooed across my collar bone like the whiskey...the only person that ever got it right and didnt say liek billy idol? Was Billy Frickin Idol. It was so awesome
@@darcyperkins7041 I'm drinking Rebel Yell right now, good whiskey at 100 proof but only $18. Unfortunately because of political correctness they have now labeled it Rebel whiskey now that is is being sold in the north too.
@@darcyperkins7041 it was
Thanks for the meaning
I always wondered how a Brit learned about the Rebel Yell. He learned it from another Brit. Thank you.
Billy Idol was punk rock, new wave. Dance-punk. He didn't have long hair. He had short, spiky, colorful hair 😆. Which is common in that genre.
That's synthesizer you hear sometimes in the background. Many of us growing up liked Billy Idol music back in the days.
Billy was one of them dude's back in the 80's, extremely popular and on heavy rotation on Mtv back when it was great. Dancing with Myself is a classic high energy track by Billy..hard not to groove to that one
So many great Billy Idol songs. “Flesh for Fantasy”
YES! Agreed, should totally be next one
You two are awesome! The other day I watched......I dunno 3 - 4 hours of your content, straight, and was throughly entertained. You both have such incredible and positive attitudes. Keep up the great work!!!!
I'm on day 2 binging. These guys are a blast.
Yeah me too I just can't stop watching these guys, it's so funny at times 😁I love their Aura about them 🤔
I'm on a Brad & Lex marathontoday!!! Lol
I just did the same thing. These two are awesome, love their reactions
Me too I'm sick and seen most of their videos but it's fun to rewatch them they crack me up with some of their visions about the song meanings
One of my fave Steve Stevens guitar solos. Simple, short and powerful with that phaser effect at the end of the fourth and eighth measures. Just awesome.
Good Lord this brings back memories. Saw Billy live when I was in High School. The friggin Cult opened for him. Someone threw a beer bottle at him during the show….hit him directly in the forehead. He pressed on with blood gushing from his head. Dudes for real. The Cult rocked too. 🤘🏻
I saw the same tour. It was my first rock concert. I was stoked about both Billy Idol and The Cult, but my couple of friends with me were joking about The Cult before the show started, not realizing how much they were going to rock.
@@alukuhitoI don’t know how or why anyone could underestimate the Cult
Nice, Billy is awesome 👌. His guitarist Steve Stevens is pretty famous too. Played for a lot of different people, movie soundtracks, all sorts of stuff. Dude can play.
Michael Jackson's guitarist for quite a while, recorded the famous Top Gun instrumental theme as well. He's incredible, an all timer.
listen to eyes without a face by billy. its the anthem for the year 2020. everyone has eyes but no face with the mask on.
in the eighties they discovered "Gated Reverb" and applied into all recordings and used it on snare drums. Thats why all the drums sound like "techno"
Steve Stevens is a greatly underrated guitarist. He also had one of the craziest "80s hair" styles. Google a pic of him from back then.
Guys you really need to SEE these performances so amazing to watch Billy Idol. He's such a performer.
Yeah , Billy's look was as much apart of the package as the sound
More ! More ! More Billy Idol !!!
" Dancing with myself oh-oh, dancing with myse-elf... " :)
Literally just saw him live last night, still sounds great
I will always remember the first time I heard him, the song was White Wedding, and I was hooked.
One of my faves of the 80's, my band played it back in the day - as others have suggested, the music video adds extra layers of awesomeness!
You guys should really check out the music video for this song- it's a real classic 80s video that stands up very well today.
Check out Steve Stevens (the guitar player) demonstrating how he plays the intro to this song as well. That's just ONE guitar playing that opening (and closing) lick, and it's so amazing sounding and he does it so effortlessly.
I also just remembered, that crazy sound during the guitar solo is an actual toy phaser gun! He holds it up to the guitar pickups, and it makes that crazy noise through the amps. Even the thing that sounds like a floaty keyboard after the solo is his guitar! Guy is totally underrated and underappreciated as a guitarist and musician, and a super chill dude to boot.
I was friends with the Drummer when I was about 12 years old…We had a band called Never 2 Young…He played several instruments & was a gifted musician…Tommy was a cool dude…Brooklyn was such an awesome place to grow up…
Saw Billy Idol in the late 90's at a free outdoor show....He was just coming back after a few years of not performing......ONE of the greatest shows ever. Billy and Stevie Stevens are exceptionally talented.
Steve Stevens with his cool guitar playing. Awesome duo!
'Rebel Yell' was apparently I kind of whiskey Billy liked, and that's where he got the idea for the song
Seen Billy idol in concert opening for Def Leppard. Two great bands, one of the best concerts ever.
Love Bill! "Dancing with myself" totally awesome song!
Billy Idol is a British Icon from the 80s and can still rock today. You would love 'Mony Mony' by him
Great song...."Eyes without a Face" next please!!!!
Yeah really great song 👍
One of the best 80's songs! I LOVE BILLY IDOL!
I saw Billy Idol live in concert in 1986! The Cult opened up for him.
We used to tear up the dance floor to this back in the day.More punk rock, dance rock and new wave songs, please!
Hell yeah. This and "Relax".
Billy!! For another great 80's anthem try "She Sells Sanctuary" by the Cult.
Firewoman
The Cult were dope. I haven't heard anyone mentioned them in awhile.
Yep, would recommend a bit of Cult too........'She Sells Sanctuary' was such an anthem!!
Phoenix for Billy's awesome guitar solo. Or Rain. In fact anything from the album 'Love' is great.
Edie, Fire Woman, Nirvana
Great memories surrounding this great iconic track from Billy Idol. and you know what, Billy's STILL rocking!!!!
"Eyes without a face" is another great song from him.
Yes next please 😁
Billy was actually a fully fledged Punk Rocker before he went pop. Oh, I just had an idea...Prodigy.
YES, dude.
Fire starter 🔥
I look at his songs like this one and see it less as him going pop, and more like pop catching up.
@@geoffmorrow9155 Hell YES, I would LOVE their reaction to this!!!
wow, all out of nowhere I've been listening to them alot lately. lot of great live shows by them from the 90s on YT. Great suggestion. Breathe, or Firestarter.
Should have watched the actual video tbf to see Billy. But glad you reacted to this tune x It's a banger
You two are quickly becoming my favorite"reactors". I love how you guys are so positive on most of what you react to, and I love Lex's smile when the harder music comes in, not to mention the fact she's so damn cute.
Billy is a living legend!!! Rebel yell is a CLASSIC!!
White wedding is a good one by him as well
"rock the cradle"!!!🔥🔥🔥
Imagine being 13 years old and the heaviest music you're used to hearing at the time is The Police (great band!), Steve Miller (Abracadabra), and maybe the odd oldie like Stairway to Heaven or something by The Beatles or Stones. You're too young and mainstream to have gone through punk, although you may have seen a few older people with the various punks styles. Then, one day on the radio you hear this. You're 13, and so you understand exactly what it means when he sings she's pumping on the floor at midnight yelling "More, more, more!", but you dare not talk about it, and it's just a song to everyone anyway. This was really cool and my gateway to the rest of Billy Idol's catalogue, including what he did with his band Generation X. He kept up the good music throughout high school for me, and was my first rock concert, with opening act The Cult. Growing up in a very strict household, I was lucky to have gone to this concert, but somehow it happened. I went with a couple of guys from school - The Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, 1987. The great thing is he also came out with a live version of Mony Mony which was recorded in Vancouver, and he mentioned the city. As a kid, to hear your hometown shouted out by a rock god was pretty incredible.
Great reaction and Billy is the MAN! White wedding, Eyes without a face, Money Money...all good songs.
Yeah Brad, they invented synths and electronics on Keyboards and just flooded everything with it. Billy Idol was huge in the UK back in the 80s.
He was huge in the U.S. too. I loved him when I was in high school!
The techno sound is actually synthesizers. A lot of 80s music was synthesized. The Techno sound usually refers to the music from the 90s
Yes, I never really noticed as a kid, but my dad who loved 70's rock would often grimace at a lot of 80's music I liked as a kid mumbling damn synthesizers, lol
DX7 fo' life!
Well, at least until 1990.
🤣🤣
@Butt Whole true. The synths, like the music, evolved. 80s sound much different from 70s.
this is one of the those songs that while in the car you have to turn the volume up and put all the windows done
I saw Billy Idol in concert back in the 80s he was fantastic and still is today.. to bad you could not put on the original video..
First, Brad, you're talking about the synthesizer sound for the 80's rock. Yes, that was a staple in that music. Next, for those of you love this song, you should ABSOLUTELY check out the Billy Idol acoustic version with just his guitarist. The guitarist blows it away, and Billy's performance is awesome as well. ua-cam.com/video/uJE0rnihZ2A/v-deo.html The version of White Wedding is even better than the Rebel Yell performance.
thanks haven't seen that version after all those years lol
Yes, that rocked 🤘TY I enjoyed the hell out of your link♥️🌹💋
@ 8:50 Brad still cant stop swaying. I have to admit that I severely underestimated Brad. As he feigns confusion, disinterest and constipation he is actually leading the pack by design. Thats pure genius.
Loving your takes on my old stuff. Yeah, Billy Idol so 80's. Good times!
I just started watching, but when you said it's your first time hearing anything Billy Idol, I'm predicting Lex is gonna feel all of this! Because this encapsulates the 80s.
Lex once again gets her motor going, Brad analyzing a rock anthem to death. Yup, they’re perfect together.
Honestly never thought much about the lyrics, nice to revisit and listen.
They in a way remind me of those two famous movie critics giving their view on the movies from long ago, Hahahahaha
@@rare_wulf9358 Siskel and Ebert
Now I MUST see your reaction to The Cult. Another 80's band that flew under the radar for awhile and then...BOOM! They got BIG. I would suggest to start with either, Rain, She Sells Sanctuary, Love Removal Machine or Wild Flower. After that... Check out Fire Woman. LOVE your reactions, GREAT content ALWAYS. Keep up the good work! \m/
Great choices Wolfie :)
Can't tell you how much enjoyment I get seeing you liking my gens music! The 80's were a magical time... its hard to get how wonderful time it was to folks who were born later etc... It was our time!
This one really benefits from watching the video. It's a concert video, and he's an incredible performer, incredible energy.
Catch my Fall is an underrated song by Billy Idol. He’s the epitome of an 80s artist.
I love him, he has so many other great songs.
Eyes Without A Face, Mony Mony, White Wedding, Dancing With Myself, Hot In The City, Sweet Sixteen...
Flesh for fantasy
The acoustic live version is sensational. I love her reaction. I was lucky enough to see him live. and yes he does look just as good.
Lex is a joy to watch...her reactions are priceless!!
This needs to be played in a car while driving on the freeway, top down, 70 mph. Or faster. Which will happen eventually anyway.
This is definitely one them windows down on a cool night on the back roads kinda songs.
@Jo Bi Fo sho
Lex SLAYS me with her reaction to guitar play! I "Ooh ho!" right along with her, lol!
You gotta do Mony Mony, or White Wedding. But watch him, you can't miss out!
Billy Idol !!!! That's one crazy dude hahaha love it.
I seen him in Brooklyn NY in the early 80s at a rock club and he puts on a awesome awesome show.
He really does have a lot of great songs.
His personal life story is a insane.
"You better get outta my way Billy, you're gonna get hurt."
You guys should watch "The Wedding Singer" if you haven't seen it. Billy's in it.
As a latin man in those 80's, I can tell you we never danced to any rock songs back in the day. Dance music was extremely different in my area. Rock was great but not something to dance to. A good amount of the LA Socal dance music was to a different beat back then.
I don't know what a "rebel yell" sounds like but I do know the Lex "ooooh" is the best ooooh on Yoooo Toooob.
A Rebel Yell is the battle cry of the Southern US. It sounds like "Yeeeeee-HAAA!"
My favorite song to kill at Karaoke. You can interpret KILL anyway you want, lol. Love Billy Idol and Steve Stevens on guitar. Great reaction.
Watching The Official Music Videos Is A Must,, So That You Can See Him Perform,, It Definitely Adds To The Vibe/Impact Of His Music.
First, this is freaky. I was thinking about this song today. Second, according to the Ken Burns documentary on the Civil War, no one knows what the original Rebel Yell sounds like. It was never recorded and lost to time. Supposedly it was blood-curdling though.
Billy Idol was/is a London Brit, so who knows what he was imagining. Sounds like maybe a rebellious Southern Belle's excited scream?
Following up on what you say, what I've heard and read is the "Rebel Yell" was a war cry used in the US Civil War by the Rebels; the pro-slavery militias sent to Kansas and then the Confederate soldiers. It was widely described as as an inhuman wail effective in terrorizing those hearing it. Yeah, blood-curdling. I wouldn't think it would have the effect described in the song, be followed by "More, more, more!", or Idol's described reaction to it. Maybe a multiple stabbing.
Billy is better seen. I don't think he'd block it.
I agree they need to see him... but I don't think it's up to him if it's blocked. It's usually up to the labels.
@@dustinabraham Yeah. I forget.
I remember seeing him in a in a concert in N.J. back in the early 1980's Became an Immediate fan! He is still touring!
My mothers all time favorite song, and she put me onto it. And I’ve been addicted to him and his music since childhood now. I’m a 90s baby, but this is my type of music all day lol.
Brad, If you like these drums in an 80s sound, I wonder what you would think of Adam Ant. Both Billy Idol and Adam had a punk background. That's why they sound more raw and less techno than a lot of 80s bands.
Adam Ant's "punk" was largely manufactured. He found a super cool jacket at a vintage shop and built an entire image around it. I liked some of his stuff at the time (period music), but it didn't age well.
From back when MTV was the shit.
Billy Idol really put out a huge number of top charting songs - it's well worth you hearing and seeing more of his stuff.
Cmon” ive never seen the both of you enjoy a song more than this! ❤️
Can y'all please do Mushroomhead - QWERTY
I think y'all both will enjoy that song in particular!
Then do Solitaire Unraveling next, but one at a time of course lol
Please! Please! Please!. Try out "MOTHER'S FINEST - Baby Love - Live At Rockpalast" The best Funk Rock band there ever was, and a great part of my rock and roll past.
YeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaa.
Billy was great live and regularly said at his shows ‘anyone sitting down will be thrown out’
You really need to see this played live. Its awesome
Nothing electronically generated here. The 80’s made music. That synthetic crap came in the 2000’s. Don’t lump that crap on us!!
Synths were def an 80s thing, Moog 70s, even electronic 'instruments' development in 60s..Synth drums were invented in 70s....But..things have gone overboard w/ over use and blandness
So what you are saying Billy Idol never used the ''electronic Linn drum'' in his music. You know there was also keyboards used. I think you miss understand synthetic music which has been around since the 70s. Think Bauhaus, Gary Numan, Sisters of Mercy ; )
Brad & Lex , I loved your reactions! Greetings from Brazil
B&L, thanks for reacting to Billy, he's been my favorite artist since back in the Generation X days. He has tons of great songs, and I hope you revisit him soon. And, for all my fellow Billy Idol fans out there, be sure to check out Billy's UA-cam channel where you can find the album he just released. KEEP ROCKIN', BILLY!
Billy Idol has so many great songs from the 80s.
Heh - man, it kills me how old I feel watching these.
But at the same time love seeing people listening to the songs I grew up - and discovering them for the first time.
I love the feedback and insights you guys have - like what the song gives for vibes.
he had that same rock/dance feel like prince! it was a beautiful time to be young irl
I loved Lex's reaction you could she that she loved it the whole way. Put a massive smile on my face as this is one of my favorite songs of all time.
0:59 LEX GOT A BIG LAUGH AND SMILE OUT OF BRAD. LOVED IT!
Love the song and love the way you two vibed to it!
My first favorite rock singer as a kid haha. Billy Idol Classic!
This reminds me of playing zxspectrum with my brother and listening to billy idol all afternoon. Great times
To really experience Billy Idol......you need to watch him perform his music! Great reaction guys!
This is one of those songs you have to watch the live version of.
Billy Idol was one of the very few in 'The Second British Invasion' that really rocked.
You both are great love watching your reactions. Keep it up........
Oh I wish you would’ve watched the video to this…then you’d know what he’s talking about “don’t mess up his hair”…Billy Idol went the other way from typical 80’s rocker hair, with his spiked hair🤘🏼
So awesome😎
Love love love Billy Idol.
