I've been through a situation similar to this and I cried a lot and still do at times and afterwards I felt as though my self esteem went down a whole whole lot because I was wondering if something was wrong with me. I have learnt though that people do us a great favour by removing themselves out of our lives. Yeah had a guy go ghost after 3-4 months of dating. He came back several months later apologizing, saying he wasn't ready for a relationship, he's ready now, he misses me, give him another chance, etc. On the advice of others but against my better judgement, I gave dude a 2nd chance. Well, Gail. Closure is a very humanistic trait. We have minds and some of these minds get a better understanding of others, a situation, and of themselves. We are all growing and learning everyday about ourselves and everything else. Closure with another person is respectful. It's like saying "Thank you for your time but that will be all for me." What made the situation so bad was that the girlfriend was an emasculating ghetto loud street broad that had four kids with her and he wasn't the father of any of them. What topped it off was when she started cursing him out in the middle of the street because they had just left a restaurant and his credit card declined. When he saw me me looked sooo embarrassed and humiliated. I kept walking right by him as if I had never seen him before a day in my life. I was by myself and looking fabulous! All I can say was damn! That felt good.

Sadly, so so true, I grew up in the era and dated before mobile phones. Things were pretty straight forward then. If a guy liked you he called through on the home phone and risked having the parents answer. That showed the guy was quite keen to get to know you. I felt it started when texting became a thing.

We didn't have problems... never argued or raise our voices towards each other even once. The worst part is that his mom and sister keep in contact with me on Facebook. Yet I hear nothing from him. I learned that just because his family likes you doesn't mean that he does. Let his ass stay dead.

His family was very hurt by his behavior and continued to apologize to me, because they were embarrassed by how their son behaved (his mom and brothers). Being close to the family means nothing.
Same exact thing happened to me with a military man. I’ve never been so heart broken. But time heals all wounds and now looking back, I’m glad he’s out of my life. We deserve better!

You're so right and I couldn't agree more. I had the unfortunate experience of being ghosted and then ended up running into the guy a month later with his girlfriend. What made the situation so bad was that the girlfriend was an emasculating ghetto loud street broad that had four kids with her and he wasn't the father of any of them. What topped it off was when she started cursing him out in the middle of the street because they had just left a restaurant and his credit card declined. When he saw me me looked sooo embarrassed and humiliated. I kept walking right by him as if I had never seen him before a day in my life. I was by myself and looking fabulous! All I can say was damn! That felt good.

Mine tried to reappear twice - I guess he thought if he stayed absent long enough I’d forget how heartbroken and angry I was. He tried and and I decided to keep that door shut. Always remember how they leave! Thank you for sharing this knowledge, your wise words really solidified my decision to leave his ass in the past.

Sadly, so so true, I grew up in the era and dated before mobile phones. Things were pretty straight forward then. If a guy liked you he called through on the home phone and risked having the parents answer. That showed the guy was quite keen to get to know you. I felt it started when texting became a thing.
