Great intro Jon. You really make thorough tutorials and the recoil gun version is a must. Who doesn't want to feel the shot? I didn't know libraries would 3d print stuff! Thanks for the great video!
Thank you Mike! Yep, had to go recoil just wouldn't have been as much fun without it. Yes Sir, many public libraries will 3D print stuff for you. I printed these parts on my personal printer, but did check my local library and under 4 hr. prints are free. All of them shown in this video fall under that. Others have confirmed their libraries have similar services.
Excellent tutorial. I mounted my IR bar by first taking it apart and using a Dremel to reroute the cord from the back to one side. This allowed me to use Alien Tape to mount it directly, and it looks like it'll hold pretty well--though I had to leave one of the screws out since the cord now blocked the hole. I also tested leaving the light gun plugged into the USB port and it looks like the latest firmware of the ALU is able to handle it as I didn't experience any issues--at least not yet.

A very clear and concise guide. :) the only thing I wish could be improved is the actual mounting of the sensor bar. it looks clumsy. Could it not be mounted flush underneath and towards the front of the Marquee leaving the USB cable to be run behind the marquee itself, into the inside of the cabinet, and then presented out the back to a usb hub that would live behind the cabinet itself?
Thank you! There are 3rd party mounting bars either on etsy or other locations. The one I installed here is holding out just fine (haven't made any alterations since this video). Mounting it underneath the marquee might result in inaccurate readings from the gun. You can certainly try it, but in my testing having it below the marquee worked out well. As far as inside the cabinet, I wouldn't. Remember, when you power off/on the cabinet you need to remove the USB to the hub or it won't boot. Now, you could add a USB switch in the mix and be fine. Even still, a cable would need to be routed to the outside to do that. Hope some of this helps.

Wow! Thank goodness for your advice. I upgraded my CoinopsX to v5.5 and voila! I can now use two light guns with no issues and BONUS, I can now play the games that require you to reload off-screen! Thank you for your excellent advice.
One of the best tutorials I’ve seen! Never saw the Operation Wolf marquee but I’m hoping it matches the original. Just so I understand, is the actual game officially licensed and available on the system and not part of a non-official download like Hylo-X for the MVSX home arcade? I saw several other incredible arcade gun games being played in this video and wondered how this was possible? This could very possibly be the end all home arcade machine!!!
Much appreciated! The Marquee is animated and was shown briefly, though there is a still image also for it if you don't want it animated (high quality) but you'd need the BitLCD with the Legends Ultimate (not BitPixel, separate product). There is a pack that you can download here with well over 1k Arcade Game Marquees: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-bitlcd/#Artwork_Packs (including Operation Wolf). The light-gun games that are included (and officially licensed) are listed here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak/#ALU_11_Light_Gun_Games (I may have missed some, but not sure that I have). Adding more games via CoinOpsX is pretty easy, just need a USB stick and I have a guide for that as well. There will be a new cabinet coming out later this year, likely late 2023 with a faster processor. Current units will be upgradable to the new boards. No details on pricing at the current time for the new units. I don't want to overload you with links, but if interested you can learn more about the upcoming 4k cabinet here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-news/#Legends_Ultimate_4KP . It's all the information I have at the present time. I hope I've answered your questions and provided you with enough information to make an informed decision.
thanks for yet another awesome resource, much appreciated! Question tho: do these work with the original sams club alu 1.0? that's what I have and I know it doesn't always work with everything... thanks again!
Thank you Sir and you're very welcome! I don't have an ALU 1.0, so I can't personally confirm it works on an ALU 1.0 cab. May want to post your question to the Legends Ultimate subreddit here: www.reddit.com/r/LegendsUltimate . Wish I could answer, but I just don't have the hardware to test on and certainly don't want to give you any wrong information.
All seems to work, except when playing games, the trigger button is on the A Button of the ALU not on the GUN trigger. Any ideas on how to remap this to correct Gun Trigger?
@@WagnersTechTalk Hi thank you for getting back to me. I do have my powered HUB connected to USB 2.0 not to the blue one. So unfortunately, this did not resolve my issue. I have a year-old version of SaUCE running and also tried the games in CoinOps Ver 5. Like I mentioned calibration on the gun is fine, but can't get the trigger on the Gun to work. When booting to the games in SaUCE it does say like AimTrack Gun not configured. The Coinops games same issue with the trigger.
Thank you! All the settings for the game are saved to the .uce file. Only way I would know of is to delete/re-copy the .uce file (from the original archive). But, don't think you'll need it. When I first started it, I just pressed A at all the calibration screens and then it used the calibration settings from the System -> Calibration.
@@WagnersTechTalk thanks for the help 👍...I've tried to reinstall it 3 times with 3 different T2 uce files I've done over but it still won't let me go back to the calibration screen 🤗 I also tried it on the coinops build..still nothing...the gun shoots only at the bottom...thanks again for the help and I'll just keep checking around..
Hello and thanks for the great video ! Ive done everything and even tested two guns but for some reason after the config in the video my lightgun is showing as player 2 and I am not able to use it and play the lightgun games ?? Thanks for any help
Very welcome and thank you! Start off with one gun, calibrate it, etc. Make sure you changed the DEVICE 1 to DEVICE 2 for the 2nd gun, then repeat the calibration for that gun. Should be good to go. Written steps can be found here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak/#Light-Gun_Configuration
@@WagnersTechTalk thanks for responding so I’m only using one gun and it’s on fw 9.20 and is currently device 1 player 1 and it’s showing as player 2 no matter what I do ?
Haven't seen that. I'd try re-flashing the firmware, re-configuring the gun. Power off the ALU (disconnect the USB to the ALU), power the ALU back on, plug in the USB to the hub, then re-calibrate the gun. That should do it. Make sure you're plugging in to the USB 2.0 port (white).
Im using atgames legends 1.0 and have tried those steps Ive even reflashed and calibrated three other aimtraks I own and its still showing as player 2 .....
That may be the issue, I only have an ALU 1.1 to test with. I updated the title in the guide to reflect ALU 1.1. You may want to contact AtGames for suggestions here: www.atgames.net/arcades/contact/ or the Legends Ultimate subreddit here: www.reddit.com/r/LegendsUltimate . Someone with an ALU 1.0 cabinet may be able to chime in.
The focus for this video was to fully test the AimTrak with the ALU. I haven't yet tried the same on the core/max, but when I do I'll be updating the guide as I do it with other Legends devices that are tested. My understanding is that it will work, so long as the controls are paired via BT. But can't 100% confirm until I personally verify.
@@WagnersTechTalk I came here to ask this question myself :) I have the Legends Gamer Pro, the Legends Gamer Mini, AND the Legends Core with the handheld gamepad - I'm hoping you do a video on the lightguns with these products so I can play on a larger 30"-40" screen. Thanks so much!!
Very good question. Keep in mind, when connecting the USB cable from the hub to the 2.0 port you're connecting both the light gun and the sensor bar. Without using a powered USB hub, you may wind up with some odd results as the power requirements for both devices are coming from a single USB port that may impact the performance or usability (i.e. disconnects). It's safest to say, use a powered hub for this and what I used during testing. I hope that answers your question better.
Thanks for this great video! I followed the video to a tee but have had no luck getting my Aimtrak light gun to work on my At Games Legends Ultimate cab 😢. After calibrating, the crosshairs track on the built in At Games games (Battle Shark, etc.) but the gun won’t fire. Nothing works on the Coin Ops games. I’m so close! Does anyone have any further advice? Thanks.
Make sure the powered USB hub is connected to the USB 2.0 port (NOT the blue USB 3.0 port). Make sure you're using the firmware shown on the guide here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak . If you didn't purchase it new recently, it may have the older firmware that may not work. Also, check out the troubleshooting section on the guide. Let me know if that helps.
@@WagnersTechTalk Wow, thank you! I connected my USB hub with light gun and light bar to the 2.0 port and this time was able to play the built in games (Battle Shark, Operation Wolf, etc.)! Now my only problem is, I had to take out my Flash Drive X mounted stick from 2.0 to connect the USB hub for the light gun to work. This means I can’t get to CoinOps X on the ALU cab to play some of the shooter games there. Any advice? I hope that makes sense. Thank you SO MUCH for getting me this far!
I keep the USB stick plugged into the USB 3.0 port and then plug in the light guns into the powered hub which then connects to the USB 2.0 port. You should be able to do the same.
@@WagnersTechTalk A big thank you for this video. It was great! Mine is also not working on the Coin Ops games, but I have mine plugged into the USB 2.0. The buttons work, just not the tracking.
@@WagnersTechTalk ik, asking for games that usually don’t require them like time crisis, hotd, virtua cop etc. if it’s possible could you make a video with no cross hair so we could see how good the tracking is for the full arcade feel?
I purchased both from Custom Gaming Creations, may not be the best price but shipping was quick (next day). All think links I have are here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak/#Resources . There is one for Amazon without recoil if you're not interested in that feature.
Don't be surprised if it winds up on your doorstep tomorrow, they arrive quick! Both times I ordered, they were there the next day. Since it's the weekend, likely will arrive on Monday but you never know.
There are a few games that i cant get working with 2 guns. T2 is one of them where the 2nd player reticle stays stuck in the upper left hand corner. Both fire buttons work but the reticle will not move. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You may have to unplug the USB 2.0 cable, power off/on the ALU, plug in USB 2.0 to the hub, then calibrate gun #1, then gun #2 and should be good then.
Thanks so much for the reply. I think my issue was I didn't have the latest version of coinops. I downloaded the still saucey version but now the issue I'm having is the addon x tool won't process my usb. It runs for 2 seconds and stops. I tried turning off anti-virus and security programs. Thanks.
Those games aren't available in CoinOpsX 5.5. Though, I have a follow-up idea of running pretty much darn near any light gun game on the ALU or your large-screen TV. You might have a good idea of the method to accomplish this if you've seen the past 5 or so videos on this channel, but I'm not quite there yet. All the ground work is done, just need to fully test, document and create.
No USB 2.0 on the gamer mini/pro standard puck :( I know this is focused on ALU but had my hopes up high! I saw a comment below about possible bluetooth for core/core max, is the idea plug the powered hub/gun into the controller instead of hub to puck?
I've not personally tested the AimTrak guns with the Core/Gamer Pro. For now, I'll have to refer you to: www.ultimarc.com/Aimtrak%20on%20ALU%20guide.pdf . Specifically this section: Aimtrak Lightguns on Core and Gamer Pro On the Core and Gamer Pro every item on the guide applies equally EXCEPT: 1-Make sure you pair your game controllers via Bluetooth BEFORE you plug in the Aimtrak pistol(s). 2-If you are using the Gamer Pro, remember to pair both controller sides to the Core and then plug in the powered USB Hub that will have the Aimtrak gun(s), IR sensor and CoinOpsX V5.5 (if you are using it) to the Core single USB port. Do not use the one on the Legends Pro large controller tabletop component.
@@WagnersTechTalk Thanks as that clearly says not to plug in to the controller! I've got one ordered since it's not a hard no and will follow up with my results if you haven't already by then.
@@WagnersTechTalk Confirmed working on the gamer mini, yay! I'm embarrassed to say the most difficult parts were finding a sweet spot for the sensor on a 65in tv to calibrate properly, and the idiosyncrasies of 'pressing start' or starting the different games. I really thought I was losing it when pushing player 1 would not start any of the games. Mine also worked on the latest firmware but because I couldn't get any of the games to start I downgraded to v.20, which of course I realize now was not the problem to begin with :D. Thanks for the guide and the extra PDF above. Trying to mix 2 player - 1 aimtrak and 1 using the gamer mini controller, seems to work with some (lethal enforcers) but not all (T2 wouldn't give me a crosshair to control for 2p).
I notice you have a Bezel on your MAME system for Operation Wolf the only problem I’m having is when I install a bezel for my gun game the shooting cursor gets confused when shooting off screen to reload and it’s difficult to get it back to normal afterwords is there a fix for that or does the Aimtrak gun games meant to play without using any bezels with the games?
Thanks for the Tutorial John! I always wanted one and thought the price was too high so I was waiting for the wireless version to be released by AtGames, apparently that got scrapped during the plandemic. Now watching your tutorial I'll definitely get one as it does seem like one of the best features of the legends ultimate.
Very welcome! That's pretty much why I waited til now, I was hoping AtGames would release their own. But, haven't heard anything about it in quite sometime. Still holding out hope that someday it will happen. There are a lot of ideas about how to use this light gun that I had in mind and decided to dive in. Glad I did, it's a lot of fun! There is definitely more light-gun stuff coming to the channel.
Only one sensor bar is needed, it just emits non-visible lights that the guns pickup on to identify the position of each gun (no communications to the sensor bar itself).
It feels much more responsive, very low latency. In time, I will be using this and perhaps another set of guns to test on other platforms. But, need to leave time in-between other videos while I test/document.
I bought to sets of these and couldn't get either one to work correctly on my legends pro base or max model they wouldn't even calibrate correctly on mame
Please check out the guide and make sure that you setup the gun correctly and used the USB 2.0 port for the powered hub. Those are the main things that will cause difficulties.
@@WagnersTechTalk it became way to much of a time consuming hassle I ended up selling all 4 guns and gave up trying to play light gun games all together didn't think light guns could be such an issue 🤣
Will these light guns works easily with coinopsx shooter games, t2, police trainer, lethal enforcerers, not sure if any of the Area 51 max force or site 4 games are available yet but I have a t2 arcade 1 up and am bored to death with the 1 game. Will likely sell my a1up t2 to get a couple of these guns, was wondering it the recoil can be shut off also like the a1up can. Thank you, I subscrIbed and like your videos
Most of those games will work well, of those that won't: Area 51 is a no and Lethal Enforcers does not play well (very hard to reload as shown in this video). The recoil can be turned off by unplugging the power supply to the gun. Thank you for your support and hope this is helpful to you!

My brother-in-law says he wants a 3D printer in the worst way. I want a 3D printed gun holster in the worst way. So for his birthday, I bought him a 3D printer. It's been 3 months and I have no gun holster. Should I divorce my wife? Looking for some advice.
lol, no definitely don't divorce your wife. I will say, when I first got my printer it was a few months before I really got a hang of how to level the bed and get a good print off it. That was about 6 years ago (or longer). Still using the same printer and it's been great, but not the latest nor greatest available. It may be that he's having difficulty learning the software for it, Cura had a learning curve. Then I found my printer had it's own software called FlashPrint (I use a FlashForge Creator Pro) that made printing SOOO much easier. May need to make a visit and help him get started. If that doesn't work out, I have links in the accessories section of the guide to download the .stl for the holster. Many public libraries should print it for you cheap or free (my library will print it free). Thank you for the laugh, great way to start the day!
What issue are you having? I have two guns connected and show my son and I playing T2 using them here. You do need to make sure you set the ID differently for gun #2, calibrate then you should be in good shape. Also, make sure you're using COX 5 is Still Alive edition : wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak/#CoinOpsX_Versions . If not, yes 2-player is virtually impossible with 5 is alive.
Appreciate your feedback and understand. At one point, AtGames was going to release their own light gun solution but that hasn't happened. Maybe it will in the future, I hope.

I hope I've answered your questions and provided you with enough information to make an informed decision.
fyi-Here's what the marquee looks like close-up (still image) for Operation Wolf: wagnerstechtalk.com/files/atgames/marquee/OperationWolf.jpg
Have there been any improvements to the accuracy of these guns in the past year?
There haven't been any updates. If you're having accuracy issues, it may need recalibration.
Very cool!!
Brilliant ❤
Much appreciated!
thanks for yet another awesome resource, much appreciated!
See the first point here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak/#Troubleshooting . Let me know if that resolves the issue please.
Hello sir... great video.. do you no how to get to the recalibrate screen on terminator 2 ... which buttons will let me enter that screen
Could this be done on core system as well as core max? thank you!
Sir have ?? Why does the hub need to be powered? Have same one as yours on order just curious an love learning.Thank you.
The buttons work, just not the tracking.
have you tested this without crosshair? curious as to how it tracks for line of sight precision shooting for the genuine arcade feel
The crosshairs are dependent on the game. Each game may represent them differently.
@@WagnersTechTalk ik, asking for games that usually don’t require them like time crisis, hotd, virtua cop etc. if it’s possible could you make a video with no cross hair so we could see how good the tracking is for the full arcade feel?
I was just wondering, do you need to keep the PC connected to the at legends game to have the gun working with coinops x?
No PC was harmed (or used) in the making of this video 😀 Light guns were directly connected as shown here to the USB 2.0 port.
Is there a place to get the 3d printed attachments for the sensor you made
Probably, but I'd try your local library first. Many will be free or nearly free.
What are they actually called
Nevermind i found the file
Where does one buy one of these light guns? Can’t seem to find it on Amazon.
I purchased both from Custom Gaming Creations, may not be the best price but shipping was quick (next day). All think links I have are here: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak/#Resources . There is one for Amazon without recoil if you're not interested in that feature.
@@WagnersTechTalk Thanks John. I ordered one from Custom Gaming Creations. :)
Thanks.
Figured it out. Thanks again.
would love to use this with Mad Dog McCree 1 and 2 if anyone has got it working on the ALU
Will these work the same on the Legends u;timate gamer core system with a standard TV?
Should be fine, the core uses the same CPU as the Legends Ultimate.
Specifically this section:
Aimtrak Lightguns on Core and Gamer Pro
On the Core and Gamer Pro every item on the guide applies equally EXCEPT:
1-Make sure you pair your game controllers via Bluetooth BEFORE you plug in the Aimtrak pistol(s).
2-If you are using the Gamer Pro, remember to pair both controller sides to the Core and then plug in
the powered USB Hub that will have the Aimtrak gun(s), IR sensor and CoinOpsX V5.5 (if you are using it)
to the Core single USB port. Do not use the one on the Legends Pro large controller tabletop
component.
Trying to mix 2 player - 1 aimtrak and 1 using the gamer mini controller, seems to work with some (lethal enforcers) but not all (T2 wouldn't give me a crosshair to control for 2p).
are the AimTrak Light guns equipped with analogue or digital triggers?
I don't want to tell you wrong, please check with Ultimarc support here: www.ultimarc.com/contactus
I didn't have any issues with OW, however Lethal Enforcers is a problem as mentioned.
Do you need to install both light sensors for 2 guns ore only 1?
Only one sensor bar is needed, it just emits non-visible lights that the guns pickup on to identify the position of each gun (no communications to the sensor bar itself).
How does this compare to using a wiimote on Retropie? Is one a superior arcade experience?
It feels much more responsive, very low latency. In time, I will be using this and perhaps another set of guns to test on other platforms. But, need to leave time in-between other videos while I test/document.
@@WagnersTechTalk thank you!
Nice 👍 😊
Thanks 😊
I bought to sets of these and couldn't get either one to work correctly on my legends pro base or max model they wouldn't even calibrate correctly on mame
Please check out the guide and make sure that you setup the gun correctly and used the USB 2.0 port for the powered hub. Those are the main things that will cause difficulties.
@@WagnersTechTalk it became way to much of a time consuming hassle I ended up selling all 4 guns and gave up trying to play light gun games all together didn't think light guns could be such an issue 🤣
@@WagnersTechTalk really wish at games would've went thru with their gun
Does the USB hub need to be powered?
Yes, here's everything that I used: wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak/#Accessories . Much more detail on that page, if needed.
Does it run on a raspberri pi 4 with batocera?
I've not done any extensive testing myself, but yes. See here for the notes on it: wiki.batocera.org/emulators:lightgun_games
@@WagnersTechTalk okeiiii lets goooo
Have you tried it with Batocera?
I've tried several light guns with Batocera and it works well. My most recent video was from GRS here: ua-cam.com/video/wq9F0E7vvfg/v-deo.html . You can find out more about what devices are supported here: wiki.batocera.org/emulators:lightgun_games
The recoil one doesn’t come with the power supply
When I ordered, I made sure it had the power supply. You can pick one up here also: www.customgamingcreations.com/product/aimtrak-light-gun-recoil-power-supply
@@WagnersTechTalk How is the recoil on this? I have read that 36v 3A can give stronger recoil but could be wrong.
Virtually impossible to add a second gun despite following all steps
What issue are you having? I have two guns connected and show my son and I playing T2 using them here. You do need to make sure you set the ID differently for gun #2, calibrate then you should be in good shape. Also, make sure you're using COX 5 is Still Alive edition : wagnerstechtalk.com/al-aimtrak/#CoinOpsX_Versions . If not, yes 2-player is virtually impossible with 5 is alive.
where can i get a gun to play like that wtf
Huh? In the video I demonstrate, not sure what you're asking for.
Until they come out with a way to add guns without jumping through hoops, I'm not interested. Release something to just plug and play.
Appreciate your feedback and understand. At one point, AtGames was going to release their own light gun solution but that hasn't happened. Maybe it will in the future, I hope.
@@WagnersTechTalk Nintendo did it YEARS ago with the WII. There's no reason why Atgames can't pull this off.
No doubt that they can pull it off. They just haven't yet, for whatever reason.
