As soon as you said ecoboost and 10 years, the first thing I thought was the wet belt is due a change! Daughter has a 13 plate Fiesta which she bought about 4 years ago and we were told then it was about a £2k job to change the belt. Her original plan was to sell it before then. She still has it......
Matt please keep the initial walk-around of the car when you pull up to it. Just keeps the curiosity on and its nice to see it coming straight from the previous owner.

I agree, I actually rewound the video a bit thinking I must’ve zoned out and missed it. It just randomly went from Range Rover to ford focus there wasn’t the usual pulling up, disgusted face while looking around lol. 😅
I have one. 2012 1.6 tdci estate with 310k km on the clock. Had it remapped at 140k. It's been a real working horse in my family and we plan to drive it until it falls apart.
@@sbrader97 hi, I sold it a month ago at 352k. The gearbox was starting to whine and my mechanic said it's not worth the trouble so I've sold it for 2500 eur. Other than that it was working perfectly and I had no other breakdowns. Now I've bought 2021 Toyota Corolla 1.8 Hybrid estate with 50k km on the clock. I'll put the famous Toyota durability to the test.
Our other ecoboost just passed 300k km, with timing belt done at 220k km. Our other is catching up at 130k km. No problems with either. Some a-holes say ecoboom, but cant look after them.
Ford have finally after 12 years started recalls. Only took them over a decade to acknowledge. Absolutely hideous things and whoever thought a belt would have a long service life in engine oil is deluded. Same issues happening on Vauxhalls using shitty PSA engines with wet belts. Oh boy am I glad I done my homework before I bought a new focus. Ecobooms are an abomination 😂
My normal fleet car in an old job was a 68 plate 1 litre ecoboom focus, lovely thing to drive. Sounded like a bag of spanners on idle at 40k, but it drove well... until we sent it for a service and didn't see it for 6 weeks, think they did an engine under warranty.

These videos have made me look at my own car and, even though I’m not selling, I’ve cleaned it, put new plates on, new headlight lenses and mats. Just taken a bit more care so you wouldn’t roast it 😂
Serviced my 1.0 2014 regularly and it still blew up....nothing to do with not servicing them but Ford knows most wont do it often so when it does blow up if you don't have full service history they basically blame you for it happening, 1.0 ecoboost even has its own fb groups, problem is for sellers its quite well known not to touch these engines with a 50ft pole! plus £4,495 seems a lot for a 106k 1.0 Focus on a 13 plate with paintwork like that, only paid £4,500 for my 2014 automatic Focus with only 64k miles and has the 1.6 petrol engine that is pretty much bulletproof. Personally wouldn't of touched this car as you've spent a lot on it and chances are there will be a angry owner ringing you up quoting consumer act in a few months lol.
Agreed, just annoys me when you hear people spouting nonsense just because they know they have to sell it...Ford has finally recalled the 1.0 engines proving what everyone was saying was true! fully serviced ones even fail but doesn't stop salesman trying to talk people into buying them still.@@Matty12333
I had a 14 plate Focus Estate 1.6 Diesel ( navigator) It has to have been one of the most reliable cars I've owned. Apart from a new stop/start starter motor, it never ever let me down. People sometimes knock the Focus, but they are a great drivers car and very practical too. I've just gone back to another Focus estate, after having two french cars in-between. Never again am I going french cars.. lol. But can't really go far wrong with a Focus.
I'm another anti-French car guy. I suffered a very severe bout of Peugeot-itis back in the early 90's Never again ( my dad said said that when he had all his teeth pulled out)
I have a 2017 focus. Very good car overall. I too had to replace the starter motor at 93000 miles. The interior is compact and sporty but not as roomy as the Mk1 or Mk2. But my 1.5 tdci 120ps is averaging 58 mpg, drives great and is comfortable..a fine car all round... oh and the diesel engine is a PSA group product... so a Peugeot engine!
That timing belt thing is the reason I would never buy one of those. Here in our german forum those engines blow up like hell and they also do when setviced right. Only thing you can really do is check the oil pickup on any service which noone does. Love my Fords, but hate Ecoboosts. The 1.5 TDCI is by far the superior engine for the Focus (at least the Mk 3.5). Anyway, thanks for the video, I think the Focus Mk3 is a lot of car for the money.
8:12 '''let's not be all glass half empty.."! Agreed, let's be glass nearly completely empty. 😁 I feel for you there. It looked like a half decent car, but as you always say, you never know for sure until you've had it fully checked out. Great vid, as always.
When I took my beloved’s 13 plate 30k Ecoboost Fiesta in for its MOT the garage told me that it had reached its 10 year or 100k mile cam belt change and quoted me minimum £1,500 to do it because of the high difficulty of the job. I’m getting it done but I expect that there will be quite a few of these cars blurting out onto the second hand market when their 5k mile a year elderly owners get that good news.
Honestly, your walk-arounds have helped me soo much! Currently looking for a new car, but when someone in my family does they take me along for my detail... ...little do they know High Peak taught me all I need to know :) Wanna get into buying and selling as a hobby tbh, thing is I'm only 20 and dunno where to start
Love this channel. Channels like car wow are amazing and entertaining but this gives good tips and advice for cars we’re more likely to buy. Interesting to see cost of keeping your car going as opposed to selling
I currently drive a 2016 1litre Ecoboom Titanium X which is loaded with kit. Love the car. It feels very sporty for a car that only has 125HP and handles like a dream. There are most certainly quality issues like the door sills and broken interior plastics (all 4 door seals came loose on mine, plastic surround around the headlight dial broke, etc). However, as a bit of a DIYer myself, they're easy fixes so never bothered me too much. My engine is ticking away happily at 55k miles... For now. I really liked the body kit that the ST-Line models have, so I decided to treat mine to a full ST-line body kit and I think it looks superb! If only they released the Titanium X with the sports body kit like they did on the 2008 - 2014 Mondeos. Keep this series coming! I hope to see some more cheap nuggets soon!
Like I said the other day Matt I was wary of the early Ecoboost and dropped on a good Mk3, last of the 1.6 Duratec cvt with around 65 on the clock, full Ford history. They did me cambelt and water pump, new wipers and pads and discs. I’m on 86k now, had a hose go around 70 but apart from that a battery and key fob battery so just wear and tear. I check oil level every few weeks but never uses any. I’m about to do a interim service oil and filter change as I always do every 5K, always good practice I’ve found. The oil is only just starting to darken up so I’d say that’s a good insight into the engine condition. I look after it, and fingers crossed I can get a good high mileage. Nice cars to drive I’m happy.
The original Focus from the late 90s early 00s was bombproof i used to have a 2001 2 litre focus not very fast but so reliable 265 thousand miles before it blew up lol
Just got a cheap mk3 focus 1.6 tdci scruffy bodywork for £1100 I don't mind the bodywork just needed a working car mechanically after a dead vauxhall vvt or timing issues 3 different garages couldn't diagnose the fault and £600 was already spent on it for coolant leak and brakes then the engine issue intermittently bad idle sound but drove fine and timing over advanced codes for the vvt system was the issue but 3 garages couldn't fix it so I gave up with it. I'll just touch up the few marks and rust spots when the weather gets better and ive ordered a new rear badge I see a lot of fords of that era rear badge worn out
To be honest, I think your cars warrant a premium price tag. Those in the know would be better off paying you a bit more for going the extra mile like this. I would happily travel the 300+ miles. I can't imagine the vast majority of dealers go to anything like the bother you do. Fair play.
Great video, very honest. So many people give random figures and quote " just a few bob" but don't add everything up. You make some very interesting points. I really smiled when you pointed out the door rubber hanging out, as I've spotted so many of this model focus with that annoying feature! Keep up the good work.
I had a Peugeot Puretech 1.2 with the same idiotic cambelt in oil design which consequently suffers from the same problems. Fortunately I got rid before the engine grenaded itself but the Facebook owners group is littered with people who weren't so lucky. Whoever thought a lubricated belt was a good idea needs a good slap!
Actually a really nice looking small car. The wheels are nice and give it a sporty more expensive look. The unexpected expenses are unfortunate. Too bad you won’t make a larger profit. Like I said it is a great looking car.
I have a 2011 1.6 petrol and absolutely love the car. I did have to have the rear subframe replaced and the rear suspension arms which cost a lot of money, but I've saved the car which is lovely and only has 60k on the clock. Went straight through the MOT after that, and yes, the shape I have is a lot nicer in my opinion too. Should last me a good few years yet.
I got a 2012 Focus for £6k back in 2019, had something break on it every couple of months, engine included. Got rid of it it the second I finished paying it off 😅
and thats the problem with ecobooms, £1200 to do a cambelt. and thats why most of them go bang at around 100k, because people dont want to pat 50% of their car's value for a belt
After selling my Capri last year I ended up with a fort focus c max (2008) . This was my second c max these are great cars but !! The rear subframe/ sills need to be treated when you first purchase them or they will rot very quickly.
Know all about the wet cambelt.... Mate from work got identical car (year colour engine etc) 97000 miles....quoted £2100 for new cambelt & water pump from Ford main dealer in sunny CH1 4QJ ...true story! Another great watch btw!
After speaking to a few knowledgeable people I decided to go for the 1.6 125bhp 2011 Focus Zetec, the last of the older petrols. It's a little slow on the uptake but otherwise is always going to be far more reliable than the Ecoboost.
Mine is a 66 registration, bought at 6 months old, just 28k on the clock and fully serviced. £20 road tax, cheap to insure. No issues re engine or bodywork. The only gripe is the regular accidents on the A69 - road closed, all the alternative routes have steep Northumbrian hills. The small engine struggles a bit. Fine on a flat run to Norfolk once a year, or twice a year down to Bolton.
@@shoaibahmed1618 Hi there - I traded mine in in November. Re sold by garage very quickly. No major issues, economical, just make sure you have the annual service done by a decent garage and any replacements should be Ford parts. Your Titanium spec is one up from mine! Good luck!
I avoid the ecoboost engines in any Ford. They all go at some point and I haven’t heard of one that hasn’t failed so I just steer clear. Won’t touch a power shift box either.
Excellent video once again. I was on the verge of putting a deposit on one tomorrow. Its got 115k !! I think not now. The little Suzuki Alto was a better buy/sell ! 👍👍
Always enjoy your videos. No stupid music, no b.s. and the sound quality is always good. Love the occasional funnies too, particularly when you mimic assumed previous owners. A complete hoot!
Had a Mk1 Focus Ghia. Think it was around 18 months old when I bought it if I remember correctly. Absolutely brilliant car inside and out. Kept it for around 8 years. The Mk1 Focus was by far the best shape in my opinion. Still miss that heated front windscreen too. Every car should have those, flipping no brainer, especially up here in Scotland. Absolute god send during the colder months, coming out of work after a nightshift to find your motor frozen. No scraping windows for me... Only minor gripe with it though was on bright sunny days where you really noticed the electric coils in the glass.
I really must say, you do prep you cars vey well, It's just a shame that buyers don't often recognise that. Things are rarely what they appear, eh Mat ? All the very Best...Andre..
Hi Matt , Have you not thought about sourcing your own tyres and giving them to your mechanics , I use Eden tyres or oak tyres , buy them at cost and just have them fitted , saves me a fortune . She can be said about brake parts as well 👍👍
Oil bathed timing belts are a bad idea. If they consume oil somebody will topup with wrong oil. Bloated timing belt, blocked pickup.. boom. Peugeots puretec 3 bangers are the same. Try finding a high miler ecoboom or puretec engine, like hens teeth.
In the early days of my business, my partner and I put 250K miles on 2 MK1 1.8 Tdci Zetecs. They never missed a beat. I suspect these were better than the subsequent models.
I can’t help but admire your commitment to repairing (restoring ?) your car buys to the best they can be spending whatever money is required. Trust you still made some money …
I have had to glue the door seals on all four doors of my Fiancée's 2015 focus. Every time I did one it seemed like the next one was starting to come loose. Aside from that though it is a quality car and decent enough to drive. I do agree the mk2.5 was a nicer looking car though. Fortunately, I had the good sense to steer her away from the 1l petrol and towards the 1.6tdci.
Water leaks are usually via the rear lights into the wells behind the rear wheels, if you stick your head under the rear bumper, there are rubber bungs, pop them off and if water floods out, you need to remove the rear lights and seal them in! Good cars other than that, except the ecoboost engines....
@@pk-dn5sj pardon the pun, steer clear. Exactly the same problem in that the belts break up because people don't want to pay for the expense of the oil causing blocked filters etc. The amount of times I hear customers say "Oils oil init"🤬. One person came in with a three year old Range Rover and baulked when I told him the cost of the oil.... Laughable!
had a small ford bmax 1 litre a 16 plate it was a great wee car used it for local shopping etc side slidding doors sold it after 3 years it went quick sold within days only had 20,000 on the clock i got what i paid for it
As soon as you said you bought this, obviously as a trade in, I instantly thought there’s only 1 reason someone has traded that in, it probably gave them the warning light you had, they cleared it and instantly traded it in, sensible on them
Check the rubber door seals aren't coming loose. They are only held on with double sided sticky tape.... And check the Ford Flit Gun paint job carefully. It's very prone to stone chips and flaking..... This particular video ought to be named " I had the misfortune to end up with" rather than " I bought"...... I had one of these things for 4 years. The saving grace here is that they sell well, despite the quality being nothing special.
I got a 2016 eco, although not a 2012 one. My mechanic stated I needed to do an oil change on them at 6k miles or less and not 12k as Ford states. He reckons the oil channels are too small, and states if you leave the oil until after 12k m, you've a much better change of doing the turbos. I do an oil change every 6 months without fail. Just his musings.
The actual issue that can screw the engine and turbo is the wet belt is prone to degrading, so little bits of the belt make their way into the sump and ultimately clog the oil pick up...then boom. The wet belt tends to degrade due to: 1. Not servicing on time 2. Not using the correct Ford specification of oil (this is critical for wet belts) 3. Not being driven very often (over time, this can cause a modern oil to break down and stop doing it's job properly)
Thankfully the whole submerged timing belt thing is largely behind us. Both the PSA 1.2 PureTech and the 1L Ecoboom both had fairly significant issues with those belts (particularly in the early to mid 10s), it was just a bad idea. They would often go wrong even if the car was serviced per the schedule.
But now even more engines have oil pump belt in oil. VAG TSIs and TDIs, PSA cars, fords and probably many more. This brings the exact same problem. Although I haven't seen single broken one if they are serviced correctly
@@webmktv1781 Yeah, thanfully it seems like they've figured out the material they use to make the belts. Even those problematic engines are fine if they have the latest revision of the belt.
I have found the Focus Mk3 to be a pretty tough and reliable car (except for the auto box of course - never buy an auto one of these!). Here in the US I had a 2012 SE 5-door 2.0l petrol for a couple of years, followed by a 2013 MK3 ST for over 9 years and 135,000 miles and the car still drove pretty much like new when I finally sold it on. In fairness it was well maintained by myself and had some nice upgrade projects done over the time I owned it, including the Brembo brakes from the Focus RS and a full leather interior with heated seats from a Titanium spec car. I thought these automatic door protectors were an awesome idea - we never got them on offered on the US MK3 Focus cars at all.
I hate the dash on that particular era of Focus, especially the bit that trys to look like a dated mobile phone, dreadful. I had a 2009 Focus which was 3 years old when I bought it and I loved it. 100% reliable, only £30 to tax and would do the best part of a genuine 70mpg and it drove really well. Had it for 5 years and it never missed a beat. Buy a good Focus and you will have a great family car.
I had a 2017 Focus and the weather seal issue on every door. After one service I though they’d fixed on of them. found the dealer had just ripped it off!
Hi Matt, My focus is going for sale soon. It’s a 2013 tdci with a nice spec. I’ll give you a special offer the only downside is that the steering wheel is on the ‘right’ (as in good) side of the car :) greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
I bought a VW Passat 2017 and although I have seen quite a lot of cars, I don't feel I have done a good job. Your videos are very good and very honest. with my car there isn't a lot wrong I have seen so far but, I have not taken it to a mechanic. Also I noticed a couple of chips in the windscreen after paying for the car. IN my whole life I bought a total of 4 cars. You can minimise risks but every now and then, something can go wrong. Which is why I didn't max my budget, as you suggested in another video! Keep up the good work.
My cousin had a 2011 1.6 diesel zetec. I do believe when it got scrapped it had well over 250000 miles on the clock. They are long lived cars if looked after properly.
Bought a 15 plate Focus Titanium a couple of years ago, for 4k with 180k on it. Traded it a year later with 220k on it. Only thing that failed was the starter motor. How I wish I'd kept it.

I owned an Ecoboost 1.0 focus 2012, bought in 2015.The engine developed leaking coolant issues in 2018 at 35k. The mechanic said the coolant was leaking into the engine which practically required a new engine. A well known Ecoboost issue. I traded it back to the dealer the to get rid of it quickly. Great smooth ride but a fragile engine
I've got a 2012 1.6tdci Focus. I've said the story a few times, I only bought it because I couldn't find a XC70 that I liked, and needed a car. Only planned on keeping it a few months, and here I am, think nearly 3 years later still with it! There is something about it I really like.... its just a pleasant wee car to own, drives well and great in winter with the heated windscreen. My door seals are solid, I done them last year properly.... I recently noticed the spare wheel area is a swimming pool..... and at 105k, the clutch and steering rack feel worse for wear... over all I'm quite impressed still, £20 a year tax and never seen less than 46mpg, no matter how vigorously I drive it! 😂😂😂 Another great video Matt!

I remember when those new shape Focus models first came to the US. I thought them rather cool. Especially the shape of the fuel door which fit in with the rear lamps. I think the PowerShift transmissions finished most of them off, for better or worse
Love the vid as always but not sure why, I prefer the old style where you'd go around the car and inspect. Seemed like we were checking it out together even if you had checked it before a few times. 😅
Most of them here are used as Taxis because of the low fuel consumption but theyre all clapped, dirty used abused and broken. This shows that Matt is the best dealer, everything is fixed and like new and honest, no fussin about! Great video as always Matt! :D
I bought a 2014 one of these last year on 77k miles. It came with a fully stamped service book from Ford but no bills or receipts and only when I spoke to the main dealer that last serviced it did I find out it had had a brand new engine fitted by them at 75k - a lucky break for me. No indication as to why but I suspect the normal Ecoboom fault. It’s a Titanium X model so comes with all the toys and has been great so far. It had the usual paint/rust patches above the rear number plate just like yours
My last car was a white Ford, something about white paint makes it flake off prematurely. But yes, an absolutely terrific looking car. Good luck with it.
Soon as I heard the words 1.0 ecco boost I was keeping everything crossed for you Matt 🙂 great video as always though and hopefully the next one will be a larger profit for you..🤞🏻
I’ve heard about a French car that gives the cambelt a bath too. The mechanic said the poor quality of the manufacturer’s original belt can’t withstand the oil repetitively getting hot and cold.
So beware of Ford Focuses Clutches wear 80000 míles they nearly always need replacing. and if there well looked after service regular intervals the car would be worth £4000 ford's and Vauxhalls have to pampered all there car working life if you can't afford the main dealer Halfords are a lot cheaper it's keeps your car in good condition and that helps to sale it for top dollar and make sure you take it to your local car valeter it can help extra two 200 or more spondulix just before you put it up for sale mat tells this all the so start listening to what he is telling another good video mat keep them coming 👍

I bought one, with no idea about the ecoboom situation!!! 13 plate, 75k Engine blew up 5 months later... 😮 Got everything replaced.. new engine, turbo, cat and clutch... Used cars hey 😢
I’ve just bought a 64 plate with just 52k from an old gent who has had to give up his license. I’m going to use it as my mileage car for my 100 mile per day commute but first I’m going to have to spend money. Cam belt & water pump £2000 at Ford as no one else anywhere near me does the job. Full service plus brake fluid. Air con needs re gassing and checking for a leak. It’s got brand new tyres so no cost their. Compared to cars that have had the wet belt done and are of similar mileage it’s well worth the outlay.

I had one and I’m really sorry that I ever went anywhere near it , worst car that I’ve ever owned!
I agree, they’re complete shite. Engines are like a ticking time bomb.
Previous focus was a lot better
Agreed, just annoys me when you hear people spouting nonsense just because they know they have to sell it...Ford has finally recalled the 1.0 engines proving what everyone was saying was true! fully serviced ones even fail but doesn't stop salesman trying to talk people into buying them still.@@Matty12333
Love the transparency in the video's. Complete honesty and not just oh look at how good I done with this car. Keep it up mate 👍🏻
I suffered a very severe bout of Peugeot-itis back in the early 90's Never again ( my dad said said that when he had all his teeth pulled out)
Funny. I think hat 1.6 diesel engine is french (PSA). Very good for a diesel specially after the first years when they had issues with the turbos.
Currently looking for a new car, but when someone in my family does they take me along for my detail...
...little do they know High Peak taught me all I need to know :)
Wanna get into buying and selling as a hobby tbh, thing is I'm only 20 and dunno where to start
Id like to buy and sell a couple myself
68 and very mechanical
Love this channel. Channels like car wow are amazing and entertaining but this gives good tips and advice for cars we’re more likely to buy. Interesting to see cost of keeping your car going as opposed to selling
Thanks!
They say “Buy cheap and pay twice” you proved that to be true. Keep the videos coming. Thanks Matt.
ive got a 15 plate 1.5 ecoboost petrol love it never had any bother
These are good cars, used to have a Mk1 which was lovely. These will sell easily to most. Great video.
This is nothing like your MK1, mate. How do you know these are good car just because they are popular?
@@worldhello1234 I agree, it doesn’t come close to a MK1, but driven many of these as I am in the trade, and I think they are decent cars.
I used to have a Ford Focus & they were a good run around. I had it in pepper red & it never let me down 👍
The original Focus from the late 90s early 00s was bombproof i used to have a 2001 2 litre focus not very fast but so reliable 265 thousand miles before it blew up lol
@@Cayres9 I could not agree with anymore, mine was a 2000 model & sound as a pound! They went on forever 👍
@@SMX815 Yeah sad how bad the new Fords are same as Vauxhall and even VW gone down the toilet 🚽 QC non existent lol
Got a 09 focus totally reliable & no rust
@@patrickmcteigue luck 🍀
Fair play.
Appreciate the Marple, Mellor, New Mills backgrounds
Great video, very honest. So many people give random figures and quote " just a few bob" but don't add everything up. You make some very interesting points. I really smiled when you pointed out the door rubber hanging out, as I've spotted so many of this model focus with that annoying feature! Keep up the good work.
That eco boom engine is exactly why I searched out a 1.25 Zetec Fiesta for the kids to learn to drive in. Great video as always.
The zetec 1.25 is such a reliable unit. Yes it’s gutless but it’s a solid Yamaha designed unit.
5:09 that blue jazz really looks stunning
Yeah I liked it too 😂 Shame they rot badly underneath.
The great thing about the Focus of any vintage is they're mostly straightforward and the AA man has seen one, seen them all
I got a 2012 Focus for £6k back in 2019, had something break on it every couple of months, engine included. Got rid of it it the second I finished paying it off 😅
The mark 2 focus’s were good back in the day probably one of the best eras of Ford focus
and thats the problem with ecobooms, £1200 to do a cambelt. and thats why most of them go bang at around 100k, because people dont want to pat 50% of their car's value for a belt
Another great watch btw!
just wanted to say I am a huge fan of the channel.
Thanks!
Really great car preparation. The best of the best re car sales.
Hi, I'm buying one tomorrow. 66 plate 1 litre ecoboost titanium spec. Can you let me know how it was, any problems and if you still have it.
@@shoaibahmed1618 Hi there - I traded mine in in November. Re sold by garage very quickly. No major issues, economical, just make sure you have the annual service done by a decent garage and any replacements should be Ford parts.
Your Titanium spec is one up from mine! Good luck!
@@1951GL cheers pal. At how many revs do you think it’s best to change gears as I don’t want to over rev the little 1 litre 😂
@@shoaibahmed1618 Follow the onscreen guide - it is good. The only time it needs a bit more is on steep hills upward.
Just bought a similar mileage fully loaded Titanium X in dark blue metallic. Had its wet belt done, and the heater matrix too! 1.0 Ecoboost. £2499!
She can be said about brake parts as well 👍👍
Or even use one of those internet mobile tyre fitters.
208 at work had a knackered PureTech at 50k, Utter 💩
Your optimism is refreshing 🎉 you never get pee’d off and just carry on
I do love a cheap car video 😊
Thanks!
Water leaks are usually via the rear lights into the wells behind the rear wheels, if you stick your head under the rear bumper, there are rubber bungs, pop them off and if water floods out, you need to remove the rear lights and seal them in! Good cars other than that, except the ecoboost engines....
U know matt one common issues with those mk3 focuses they always have issues with the door rubbers hanging out at the bottom of the door
They do!
Like the PSA Puretech engine, having a wet belt is a disaster in waiting! Great video as usual, thanks and keep them coming.
Do you mean the 1.2 130bhp 3 cylinder?
Didn't know that and was actually looking at some...lol not any more😅😅😅
@@pk-dn5sj pardon the pun, steer clear. Exactly the same problem in that the belts break up because people don't want to pay for the expense of the oil causing blocked filters etc. The amount of times I hear customers say "Oils oil init"🤬. One person came in with a three year old Range Rover and baulked when I told him the cost of the oil.... Laughable!
had a small ford bmax 1 litre a 16 plate it was a great wee car used it for local shopping etc side slidding doors sold it after 3 years it went quick sold within days only had 20,000 on the clock i got what i paid for it
As soon as you said you bought this, obviously as a trade in, I instantly thought there’s only 1 reason someone has traded that in, it probably gave them the warning light you had, they cleared it and instantly traded it in, sensible on them
That’s exactly what happened I imagine
Check the rubber door seals aren't coming loose. They are only held on with double sided sticky tape.... And check the Ford Flit Gun paint job carefully. It's very prone to stone chips and flaking..... This particular video ought to be named " I had the misfortune to end up with" rather than " I bought"...... I had one of these things for 4 years. The saving grace here is that they sell well, despite the quality being nothing special.
I dunno why but I love these videos more then watching super cars
Thanks!

The wet belt tends to degrade due to:
1. Not servicing on time
2. Not using the correct Ford specification of oil (this is critical for wet belts)
I'm happy with my Toyota 1.2T that has a timing chain will never have to worry about it.

Just needed the powershit box for ultimate peril on this one.
The Ford Powershift autos are known as Powersh*t in the trade......
I have a 2013 Focus as well. Amazing car.
Another good un Matt, you could maybe do update on these ‘bought a cheap’ cars as to what they eventually sell for 😎👍
I had a 2017 Focus and the weather seal issue on every door.
No 1.0 is lasting that long
@@Luckyjo21 probably only designed too last 100,000 miles. What’s poor for a modern engine.
Love this shape of focus, all it needs is a touring car wrap and bingo, you are virtually a professional racing driver.
Bought a 15 plate Focus Titanium a couple of years ago, for 4k with 180k on it. Traded it a year later with 220k on it. Only thing that failed was the starter motor. How I wish I'd kept it.
Great video matt surprised by how many things you had to put right after that first walk round, I have a Ford Focus Hatchback 2013 1.5 TDCi (120bhp) Titanium 5d solid car's. after you completed all the jobs and showed us round the car again one thing that stuck out which was noticeable the very worn ford badge on the rear otherwise than that excellent job ready for sale
The transits from 2015 or 16 have the wet belt engine a crazy idea really why change when the old 2.2 duratorq was fine.

I like my one however did drill two holes in the boot. Great drainage 👍😀

Peugeot 3cyl puretech has same problem with cambelt falling to bits but sometimes at very low miles
Yes I’ve had that issue with those too
Most of them here are used as Taxis because of the low fuel consumption but theyre all clapped, dirty used abused and broken.
This shows that Matt is the best dealer, everything is fixed and like new and honest, no fussin about!
Great video as always Matt! :D
Thanks! I appreciate it
I bought a 2014 one of these last year on 77k miles.
