Apart from the usual running costs, all it has needed was N/s drive shaft. Had the cambelt etc changed at 75k. Serviced on the dot and run it only on premium diesel. Had it on test a few months ago with the service manager and his electronic scanner. He proudly said "Roger there is nothing wrong with this car. .something I can seldom say" While picking it up from.service one of the salesman approached me and said "make sure you keep this one..." that from a salesman! So at the moment that's exactly what I'll do. Thought I'd chuck in a note of positivity as there's much grumbling about Ford and especially the EcoBoom🙈🙊🙉. Thanks for another entertaining vid Matt.

Must of just had a dodgy one. I’ve only had great experiences with Ford cars and the company itself. nowadays, the only ford worth buying, a diesel with a dry cambelt... [good score lad] 1985, a maestro with a talking dash came in for lack of power. the old dear tells me it talks to her every time she starts it up. "she says good morning", nope, "low oil warning" , engine was knackered.... bless them...
Got two Mk3 focuses (2012 1.6 Ti-VCT and 2013 2.0 TDCi) and the door strips are shagged. Bought some replacements from eBay because Ford want silly money and I've tried re-sticking them but once they've been on and come off, they just don't hold any more even with decent tape, but can't find the enthusiasm to fit them, really need to though. The boggo headlights are also a weak point - wife's car had already had one replaced and I had to replace the other as they leak and someone had already tried gumming it up with silicone. Those Ford badges on the boot always go manky too. Lucky the parcel shelf is there, they are so flimsy they collapse and the plastic clips for the hinges bust off. Replacements are cheap, but the shelf is usually too mashed by that point to fit them reliably, and replacement shelves are hard to come by for obvious reasons. Not bad cars, if unexciting, other than that though
Hi Matt, First of all love the Focus, love the newer European versions more, looks very Nice and wish it was imported here, anyway weather wise, can't say that the UK weather is the most wackiest I've ever experienced, you should try Melbourne Australia, weather changes in minutes, could be cold and miserable one minute, then the weather changes and it's the opposite, you may even have an entire season in a day. Learning a lot about the brand of tyres on your channel also some of which I've never heard in my life. Anyway get well soon, see you in the next one.
I’ve owned one of these. Great car! The tax in the Netherlands is insane tho, 120 Euro’s per month. Also you need to check the injectors, Continental goes bad around 300k kms. Bosch is the one you want cause ‘they don’t fail’ (words from my former mechanic)
You can't beat mudflaps on a vehicle.👍👌👏👏 They subtlety improve the looks of your vehicle & serves a purpose as well. 👍 I'm liking the colour on this mk3 Focus.👍 Better than a soild bright red & more stylish.👍👌
Nice one Matt. Another car saved and will do someone good service for a few more years. Not a Focus fan but you did a great job on that one. Should fly off the forecourt.
Love the Alan partridge reference. A couple of months ago Steven coogan was doing a film shoot in my friends street while I was visiting them and so took the opportunity to get a photo with him. Anyway great vid and love all the cheap stuff you do
Hope you checked the boot for leaks?- They are really common. Simple bumper off job to fix with some silicone sealer round the vents. New Ford badge definitely required! - 6 quid off Ebay
Great video - glad you got a good one here! Don't take out the Alan Partridge references, I'm sure most people love them, hardly anyone makes them now so it always makes me laugh when you slip a few in each video!
In 1982 my dad had an A board launch itself at his brand new vauxhall cavalier whilst on holiday in Sheringham, Norfolk in a storm... Dad got out and then launched the A board into the sea.... Needless to say... He had the last laugh ( true story with a twist of partridge at the end...)
Haha - great story. Our family were at windy Sheringham around the same year (staying inland in Upper Sheringham) - I remember it well. My Dad would have done exactly the same. Back then it was considered a healthy way to deal with the hulk strength that appears in you when something like that happens. And healthy natural selection for windward A boards too 😄.
These engines leak, the rocker cover gasket leaks on them. That colour is the same as my MK4, it's called Ruby Red. The MK4 is the same for the door seals, it is how they are glued on, where most cars have grooves in the door for the seal to attach too. The Dent removal guys also use glue pulling, which is another method, they tend to do when the access is limited. But they can't do it on a repainted panel.
Very nice motor 👌🏻. I had a mk1.5 focus, 1.8 TDCi. They’re great cars. It did 140k until all four injectors needed replacing, costing over £1000, more than it was worth. Had to move it on as spares or repair

1985, a maestro with a talking dash came in for lack of power. the old dear tells me it talks to her every time she starts it up. "she says good morning", nope, "low oil warning" , engine was knackered.... bless them...
Love your banter in your videos Matt, nice motor for someone as a runabout without the worry of economy! 👍😂
Magnificence cannot be cheap, for what is cheap cannot be magnificent.
Hello from Dublin, love the videos.
When you say "touching in" are you just slapping it on with a touch up pen?
Thats a video we need. Your work!!!
Loved the bit about faith hope and charity, you know you're history pal.
I’ve owned one of these. Great car! The tax in the Netherlands is insane tho, 120 Euro’s per month. Also you need to check the injectors, Continental goes bad around 300k kms. Bosch is the one you want cause ‘they don’t fail’ (words from my former mechanic)
is the 1.6 tdci reliable?
@@AC-db4ek Very.
@@AC-db4eknot especially. Not the best, not the worst. High mileage they can go wrong quickly
You can't beat mudflaps on a vehicle.👍👌👏👏 They subtlety improve the looks of your vehicle & serves a purpose as well. 👍 I'm liking the colour on this mk3 Focus.👍 Better than a soild bright red & more stylish.👍👌
You forgot the back Ford logo. Gives it a cleaner look.
Oh wow, Faith, Hope and Charity - wicked detail! Hello from Malta 🇲🇹 - great stuff as always! 😊
You need to contact wondergrip and do a parody video with their van. Also, the bin should have been the thumbnail 😂
Yes,
Mailed that too, but Matt never replies at e-mails😂
Nice one Matt. Another car saved and will do someone good service for a few more years. Not a Focus fan but you did a great job on that one. Should fly off the forecourt.
Sorry to tell you Matt, the "Zetec S" also got keyless entry not just the "Titanium"
Also I've used Mazzini tyres loads on my work vans and they are actually decent as far as the no name budgets go
GT Radial is actually a decent tire brand, the FE2 model (which that Focus has) has shown decently good performance in tire tests.
Good morning Matt, nice looking car in the end. Hope it sells and gives you a profit. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
What about the Dents video? I was looking forward to seeing that 😮
You’re a good man Matt
Love the Alan partridge reference. A couple of months ago Steven coogan was doing a film shoot in my friends street while I was visiting them and so took the opportunity to get a photo with him. Anyway great vid and love all the cheap stuff you do
You got changed for a new MOT but once wasn't out on it! Great video as always though
Hope you checked the boot for leaks?- They are really common. Simple bumper off job to fix with some silicone sealer round the vents. New Ford badge definitely required! - 6 quid off Ebay
Tom, has helped me on a number of projects. Clear instructions and easily achieved.
Like the new bin.
You need to top that with a Wonder grip van review... 😊
Excellent Matt, well done 👏
19:15 another couple of quid on a new ford badge on the tailgate makes a difference, maybe you missed that
another great film.....I've always wondered why you dont use trade plates when test driving the vehicles
Great video - glad you got a good one here! Don't take out the Alan Partridge references, I'm sure most people love them, hardly anyone makes them now so it always makes me laugh when you slip a few in each video!
What about the new Ford badge , Matt!? Get a checklist.
Focus is a great car. I had a MK1 1.8TdCi and loved it. Passed it on to my son and it's done well over 200K to date.
This Focus looked great after it had been refurbished.
Well done Matt, that’s another one saved from the jaws of the crusher ❤.
But they can't do it on a repainted panel.
all engines leak eventually
@yreva532 that is true.
Yup, every mk3 Focus has that with the door seals, mine has it, my dads also had it lol. Fixable with VHB tape.
Can confirm about the door seals. My 2016 focus was the same. Had to stick them all bsck on with double sided tape
Nice job mate shame you didn’t renew the ford badge on the rear boot lid 😢
nice video, i'm catching up on videos so you may already have done but you should use the new bin in on of your videos
Very nice motor 👌🏻. I had a mk1.5 focus, 1.8 TDCi. They’re great cars. It did 140k until all four injectors needed replacing, costing over £1000, more than it was worth. Had to move it on as spares or repair
I have one from 2016, estate. 342k km at the moment. Never had a problem. Remapped at at 136k km (140hp).
Hi Matt well done . Check internal a filter may need replacement cause delay with A/C
With my focus , I brought some really good glue.masking tape held well .3yrs still good 👍
You have got there, what the patron saint of used car dealers, Mr. Arthur Daley, would have called 'A nice little earner...'. Looks like the Council have got into the spirit of the High Peak layby and massively overspent on upgrading the bin. This makes you an influencer... 😉😎
Good video. The later Zetec-S also had keyless start too.
I always liked the shape of that focus, especially in touring car guise, look as wide as the are long.
Not overspending and a new bin? What a time to be alive.
Quality UA-cam viewing.
Old cars and new bins!!!!
