- Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2012 | In this second of two episodes on Europe's "City of Light," we'll ride a unicorn into the Middle Ages at the Cluny Museum, take a midnight Paris joyride in a classic car, get an extremely close-up look at heavenly stained glass in Sainte-Chapelle, go on a tombstone pilgrimage at Père Lachaise Cemetery, and savor the Parisian café scene. Few cites are so confident in their expertise in good living - and as travelers, we get to share in that uniquely Parisian "joie de vivre." #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #paris

Although I live in a poor country where people like me can't afford to travel around these significant places in rich countries, watching your documentary offers me a chance to turn my imagination into reality. Sitting in a room watching these videos makes me feel as if I am out there experiencing them live. Thank you Steve!
Thaneshwor Chalise hope u get to travel one day🍫
@@saavikid2327 i hope so. However, i know it's unlikely to happen.
Thaneshwor Chalise Never give up Hope so much you can travel one day
@@thaneshworchalise6595 Hey buddy!
I just wanted to tell you that if you put your mind to something you can change your life, just one goal makes the next day easier and the more pressure and difficulties you release the easier it gets to move forward, just set a goal, crawl, walk or run towards it and never look back!
That's so nice to hear !! One day you will travel !
As a European I adore Rick Steeves' videos a lot. they are full of love and respect for our beautiful continent.
Rick Steves is the best storyteller...
He exudes positivity. He speaks clearly and calmly. All his videos are interesting and informative.
I never get tired of watching them again and again...
This is one of Rick's best episodes......how in the world could anybody give this a thumbs-down?

One reason would be my friend so happened to come across this video and had said the teacher had made this video a 100 points quiz based on what they could remember for their class. My friend got 4 wrong. (60/100) quizzes are 50% of the grade soo....
@@aim6879 So, either 50+ students each have equally unimaginative teachers, or that one unimaginative teacher had 50+ students lol
Rick Steves' videos are simply fantastic, such a performant mix of great pictures, and also great music, professionally produced, great narration, and often unusual details. As a pianist and also a passionate gourmet, the influence of his good taste goes like a red thread through all his videos.
completely agree! It's a great travel show. Very unbiased.

My husband and I travelled to Paris last week for 6 days to celebrate his 37th Birthday and absolutely loved it to the max! 🥰 🇫🇷🥐 xx
It has always been my dream to travel the world and enjoy the beauty of God's gift for mankind. Thank you, Mr. Steves for all your works. I am thoroughly enjoying this and can't stop watching since I discovered you three days ago. "Until next time, keep on traveling and posting these videos".
I never get tired of watching your traveller's videos and listening to your narration! Your match of music to the scenes are incredibly good! Can't be better!
When showing Chopin's tombstone, Nocturne Opus 9 No. 2 is played. This part touched me!
God bless you and your team!
So wonderful!
Sainte Chapelle is my hands down very favorite place to visit. I love to walk in Paris if possible because you experience so much more that way. And the food? French food is my very favorite of all. It’s in a class all by itself. Watching this video made me want to pack my bags and hop on the next plane to Paris!
Thank you for showing all the marvellous places of Paris . 🤗
We've visited Paris for a 2 week stay. We both enjoyed the City of Light as much as any place we've ever been. We could certainly live there.

Hi Rick ! How are you? I like the nature of your Work go everywhere and enjoy the beauty and wonders in different places in the World. Hope and pray that one day sooner or later that I could be like you.
I love to understand the history and significance of the places I visit, especially in Europe where there are so many tales and folklore of past dynasties and personalities! Over the years, my first book must have been in the 90s, I loved Rick Steve’s Travel guides for his interesting insights on historical cities, with a dash of humour! It makes reading entertaining and interesting ! I’m glad to discover that he has evolved into UA-cam video guides now ! The videos are definitely a great complement to his books, which will always be indispensable !:)

Champagne and coffee 😅
It's very nice think
I gave up in trying to save up to go there. Nothing seems to go my way. But I'm content with watching Steve's videos.
One way tickets are $265. Go on Air France's website.
La Defense is amazing
There are lots of attractive women in Paris
I'm glad that in Paris they just charge you for a tip as a means of getting their desired amount. because frankly I never pay tips and I think it's rude for restaurants to expect people to pay one.

Don't understand the quip about a ''long medieval slumber''. How many universities were founded from the 11th to 14th centuries in Europe, from England to Prague so many were coming up. What were all the grand Romanesque and Gothic cathedrals made of sticks and mud? The castles, medieval palaces, the artworks. Even science and maths were being well developed in that supposed ''dark age''.
Rick Steve hould know better. The Medieval period saw advancements in engineering, architecture, the arts, music, and scholastics. The term, " Dark Ages," was a pejorative given to that period by those in the 18th century who despised anything that wasn't derivative of ancient Greece and Rome.
I really like the ideas of Renaissance. Does it mean Humanity?
Renaissance literally means 'rebirth,' as in the rebirth of great Western culture inspired by the classical Greek and Roman traditions.
Renaissance is just the french word for "rebirth".
"slow service is good service".. good to remember:) eating is an art too and the meditteranean way is a two hour dalliance not less. just pack your hunger pang tide over in your bag to nibble while you wait..
Not only Mediterranean way!

What music pieces were played at the background of Monet's paintings?
God bless AMERICA!
You said that Rodin's "The Thinker" was a statue of Rodin himself, yet all other sources say that Rodin was depicting Dante contemplating his poem at the Gates of Hell. Can you elaborate?
Sarah Jasper yes Sarah, Rodin, said he used himself as the model...obviously it was a little hard for him to get Dante to sit for him....so he needed a model..and who better than himself...? although I think he got the musculature wrong...but thats me....te he

Rick, Why are you flirting with Delphine???
Very expensive city to live in.
not as bad as london
Nicknamed "Petit Manhattan" by who, Rick? I've worked there and have never heard that and working there, thanks to the art displays doesn't make it "more fun" but "less dreary" ... :o)

La Defense is really not worth visiting.
It's overblown and hideous.
😪😪
I enjoy your videos, but please drop the end outtakes. They aren't even remotely funny and are just painful to watch.
I'm sure he'll take your opinion under consideration
Well Rick, Paris could be in turmoil due to liberal leftist polices. Definitely not a place to visit for now anyway.i
