- Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2012 | In Paris, amidst all of its grandeur, the little joys of life are still embraced. In this first of two episodes on Paris, we'll cruise the Seine River, visit Napoleon's tomb, and take in the Louvre. Then we'll feel the pulse of Paris - shopping in village-like neighborhoods, attending church in a grand pipe organ loft, and celebrating the mother of all revolutions with a big, patriotic Bastille Day bang. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #paris

How does Rick not win Academy Awards or something like those for his amazing videos??
You can give him one ... and a million dollars if you think he is so good.
He has won awards, look it up.

My first trip to Europe after graduating from college, summer of 1985...I was in Paris for Bastille Day, unforgettable. My husband and I married in Hawaii on Bastille Day 1992.
I went for my honeymoon in 79. Took the bus there. It was cheaper than the train. Loved it.
It's great being able to watch these during the shelter in place

Quarantine is getting a bit old at this point though.
If the globalists have their way, no one outside of France will see these sights again.
illegal lock downs
Watching this,I feel like an absolute peasant. She's just having dinner
The most beautiful city in the world!!! Vive la France!!!
@shethinksliberty Why?
@RedGoat 1. Paris; 2. Florence; 3. Venice
ok ? ))
@RedGoat ever heard of an opinion?
Paris is so beautiful. It's literally an art.
Without a doubt this was the BEST Paris video I've ever seen and I've seen dozens and dozens. Thanks Rick.
I have to agree; it's uncommonly good. I don't know how he does it but somewhow Mr Steves manages to strike exactly the right tone with these videos - remarkable.
(My only quibble is with the comment that the English defeated Napoléon at Waterloo when it was the English plus various others.)
Everyone says all different ones are "the best." Does there have to be a best?
Daddy do u have Instagram

He does have the special ability in himself to make the places look way better and more beautiful than it is in reality. Or it might be that his voice and the way he narrates is just so calming that he can possibly make places in any corner of earth look like historical sights.
Much respect from Denmark to France. Love your people and food 🇫🇷🇩🇰
Thanks. Respect to Denmark. Welcome to France.
France & Denmark = amitié et respect
I like the French cities, castles, chateaus, palaces, cathedrals, monuments, architecture, nature, beaches, culture, literature, writings, books, art, history, music, cinematography and cuisine. Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world; it has gorgeous/beautiful art, architecture, museums, culture, history , cathedrals, castles, palaces, monuments and parks. It has one of the best cuisines in the world: French cuisine. France is a highly developed country, and continuously ranks high in measures of socioeconomic performance. France ranks high in international measures of economic freedom, quality of life, education, and human rights. Paris is the capital of France. Since the 17th century, Paris has been one of the world's major centres of finance, diplomacy, commerce, fashion, gastronomy, science, and arts. France has a highly developed democracy, culture, society, economy, infrastructure, technology, industry and agriculture. I have great respect for the country, culture and history of France. I like France and Paris....Respect for 'France' . Best wishes for France and God bless France.
Paris is a heaven of Europe.😍😍😍😍😍
Rick, your videos bring joy to millions of people.
The most beautiful city in the world; gorgeous art and architecture at every single turn, no exaggeration.
So infinitely sad what has happened to Europe in recent years. I hope Europe becomes Europe again!
Europe is still and always will be Europe
Good cheese, good meat/seafood, good wine, and more. For culinary lovers, Paris truly is the "city of love"!
Watching the "Notre-Dame" Cathedral segment of this show is sad in 2019. On April 15, a major fire burnt down a large section of the cathedral. Current French president Emanuel Macron has vowed to rebuild the landmark to be even better than it was before. Blessed be.
Gee, thanks for letting us know about the fire, in case we all missed the ubiquitous news coverage for weeks.
3 days from now, it will have happened 1 year ago. So sad :'(
'Paris' is so beautiful by naturally. My love & respect to 'France' from Dhaka, Bangladesh. God bless France.
I took Rick Steves tour for Paris ❤
It was years before I realized Mona Lisa was so small.
Yes he should have won an award his show is amazing
I got to go to Paris for a weekend over 30 years ago. One of the major highlights of my life.
I miss living in Paris, Im from Brazil and lived there for six months in 2012 when I was in college. Although I didnt have much money and actually shared a small flat, those were really great times, the excitment of going out and always meeting new people or just experiencing the city and walking around were great.
Now Im a lawyer and though I have a lot more material conforts, I do miss the freedom of walking around in Parisians streets, I hope someday I manage to live there again, or at least have an apartment where I can go every now and then.
This is the best travel show.
In just only half an hour you have shown many places.
Peace and freedom gone from traveling 😞
The most beautiful city in the World
I love Paris. Want to visit this beautiful city again.
Thanks for the video. I've been to Paris 7 times, last time 1993. I miss the city. These videos are next best to being there.
@shethinksliberty What makes you think so? I also haven't been there in a while, what has changed?
shethinksliberty so true
what do u mean by that
7:50 RIP Notre Dame Spire :(
Life is beautiful and living is precious🌅🌈🌊
Rick Steves does fantastic travel documentaries - it’s so funny and intelligent. Also it’s amazing cinema craftsmanship - pace, operator work, editing - each part is a little jewel.
We were fourtunate enough to visit Paris on our trip of a lifetime with our two children (one almost 4 and the other 14 months).
We arrived in mid-may 1999. Things certainly have changed. I'm glad we were able to visit when we were able.
It was the Paris of one's dreams, perfect.
We saw quite a bit of sites in this video.
Visited all the famous Paris icons, cozy neighborhood shopping streets, parks, rivers,
It was glorious.
No mention of Montmartre, Château de Vincennes, Sacré-Cœur, the Picasso museum, Cimetière du Père Lachaise, where hundreds of famous people are buried including Chopin, Oscar Wild, Rossini, Edith Piaf, Molière, Marcel Proust, Balzac and Jim Morrison to name just a handful.
the lady shopping for dinner party, you are candy to the eyes
You got it beautiful city , Paris
Way to go, Rick (and crew) . . . You did it again with a beautiful educational commentary of another historic City!

Hello pretty how are you doing
It would be great with a "Rick Steves America"
If you turn around and look on the opposite wall of the mona lisa you will see one of the most beautiful Gigantic sizes murals ever painted and the biggest a the Louvre the Wedding at Cana.
They did show it
Omg I just realized that Bastille Day is 3 days after my birthday. It’s always been a dream of mine to visit Paris, but to go there for my birthday and spend a week there, that would be a lifetime bucket list dream.
Rick is looking snazzy in this video.
I ♡ the Louvre Museum!
I loved the Louvre. We also went to an outside market somewhere.
Love this show, I look for it whenever I tune in PBS.
From my knowledge, I have ancestry from Ireland and Germany and maybe Poland, but I've always been endlessly fascinated by French culture.
Starting with hearing about Napoleon in grade school and learning about The Eifel Tower, to hearing the language expressed in one of the most enigmatic songs of my youth, Lady Marmalade, my interest had been invariably stoked.
😀
As an interesting anecdote: when I was in Jr. High, there was this group of popular girls that enrolled at the school towards the end of the year, with one of them standing out, partly for her looks.
But then, there was this French phase she use to say all the time, "Excusez moi, which stuck in my head, years later. The interesting part is that when the sitcom Friends came out, and I heard Phoebe use that phase, I started wondering if this wasn't the same girl all those years ago.
She had long blonde hair, and like I mentioned, a total hottie. Lisa Kudrow is the right age, I checked.
Anyways, that's just one more reason I've been intrigued by this culture.
So I appreciate you and your travel program, especially those on France.💪🏼😆👍🏼🇫🇷
nice country and enjoy visit the beautiful museum
Delphine is so beautiful. A real Parisian beauty
I can't believe she didn't have stockings on. Back then we always wore them.
My husband and I travelled to Paris last week for 6 days to celebrate his 37th Birthday and absolutely loved it to the max! 🥰 🇫🇷🥐 xx
Rick Steve's videos always the best, good job.
I took a photo on Bastille Day 1985 of cute military buns. Lost forever. Sad.
Vive la France.
Magnificent beauty!
Awesome showcase of Paris Steve. Loved it! Paris & especially The Louvre was our favorite place in Europe to visit!

@Chicago Sidestreets I don't know him bcs we don't have him in our TV programs or else, I'm from non English-speaking country. But I'm glad I found him here, and I know from his quality that he is not just a UA-cam vlogger 😄
Thank you for making us live the adventure more than just watching it.
I just love all the music used in your episodes! I wish the names of the tracks were listed for us to find!
Don't know why he does not add name of music tracks used n the videos, in the description. Music used in his videos are as delightful as his episodes.
Gary Busey on the organ!
seriously.....!
haha!
For real! I thought the same thing!!!
Rick you are absolutely awesome!
It's my favourite show.
These Rick Steve's (and Lisa) films inspired me to make my own films about my Hometown, London, with my friend Michele.
Nicht zu überhören, dass dies die Lieblingsstadt von Rick Steves ist :-)
Been to Paris twice , love it. Cant wait to go back

Great video tour of Paris!!!! Merci.

The second I saw the Statue of Winged Victory, it gave me goosebumps. Something about it is awe inspiring. I can only imagine the effect it would have actually seeing it in person. Thank you for the fantastic video!

@@aureliaandris8240 ok, are you at Paris?
We stocked up on french bread an pastries and wine before the bus left for Germany. It was gone by the time we hit the border so we made the bus driver stop at the bakery at the border to stock up for our mother's again. Lol
I am a big fan of your videos.
your videos are pure happiness rick!!!!
Thank you for inspiring us to travel more Idol Sir Rick Steves! watching here from Philippines
Paris is Love
thank you for sharing this video
What a magnificent video! I've been to Paris twice and seen as much as or a little more than this video has presented, but ... honestly, watching this video in my comfortable bed is more enjoyable than visiting those places on foot. Seeing Rick stand near Mona Lisa (near the end of this video), I am really envious ... because that painting is always surrounded by crowds, and it would be impossible for any visitor to get that close, and without anybody else in the background of your photo.
All the work that was put in making this video is very much appreciated.
Thanks rick
Love from Bangladesh💜
Paris que j'aime !
Beautiful
Amazing!
thank you Rick, I like your videos
Thanks WOW THAT'S AWESOME
I miss Paris already.
