- Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2004 | In this program, we follow in the footsteps of 19th-century aristocrats along Nice's Promenade des Anglais. Then we listen to the graceful reshuffling of personal fortunes at the casino in fairy-tale Monaco, and visit the picturesque artist hangouts of Chagall, Matisse, and Picasso. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #riviera

No one does it like Rick Steve's, NO ONE!!!
You got that right
Rick Steves is a national treasure. I can watch this guy all day.
No matter what, vloggers nowadays will never surpass the way Rick Steves conveys both information and entertainment. I have yet to find a travel channel on youtube better than Rick.
He provides history, great visuals, and great tips all around.
I agree👍🏼 He's the best!
Steves' spins a lot of bravo sierra...go there and see it for yourself. Travel is not a kitten romp...I know I have traveled a lot.
Yes, but the playing field is becoming more equal with a simple UA-cam vid that just about anyone can do. 🙃
I have planned, reserved and tripped around Europe a few times but I wouldn't book a flight without first buying a Rick Steves travel guide.
I totally agree!
The Mediterranean region is probably as close to heaven on earth you can get! Florida, California, and so many other places try their hardest to imitate it.
He is such nice man...so informative...I visited a lot of places he promoted...and EVERYTHING was true...THANK YOU
I grew up on the côte d'azur. Lived there about 8 years. I never really noticed the beauty of the area, as I was too busy with my daily life. Now I'm 16, and live in a major city, and seeing this video made me cry.
Luc Groshens I know how you feel
You'll be back there sometime soon x
A bit of good memories, a bit of nostalgia and a bit of home sickness?
It's awesome that at 16yo you are thinking about this. Most 16yo are still too busy to notice. Bless you! I hope you get to return soon! 💚💜💙💯
You can always move back :-)
Shame on you im joking
Dont worry, you didnt miss much.
This guy is a lucky men seeing every great city in Europe.
These episodes are so pleasant. They are perfect for any time of the day!
Rick Steve’s is the king of the passport 🤩
What a blessed life you’ve had Steve!! 👍😁👍
"They change with the pageantry of an important nation"
Bro threw shade at the Monaco royals with such class💀
Rode my bicycle from Marseille to Rome, the little hidden beaches between Toulon and the Italian border were incredible!
How many miles
How long does that take??
@@Jack-dp4lg It was exactly 1000 km
@@andreas_adventures We did it in 13 days of riding and 2 days off.
By God you must have some amazing photographs, what a trip, congratulations!!!!! 😎👍
I love the French Riviera, and the Italian Riviera. I've been all over Italy, and all over the French Riviera in the Navy in 88 and in 90 and loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️
I ❤ France and Italy. Fantastic scenery, well maintained, colourful and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed watching and dreaming from my small flat in the UK. 😊
France and especially Italy have about 1200-1500 years more of "civilization time" compare to UK, plus the land and the climate... UK have its unique charm and great places to visit too.
@@HgHg-yp6ft no
@@HgHg-yp6ft The UK is also beautiful!
Gibraltar is UK, therefore you have similar scenery. There you go m8
We visited France in June 2016...this video brought back memories of the places we visited in the French Riviera one of the top tourist attractions in the world!

I have almost watch all your videos since I retire from working serving table in three different Cruise line for almost 25 years most of it all over Europe . I honestly enjoyed every bit of it because I almost feel that I was walking again to all those places. My dream now is to have my wife see also all the beautiful places that I have seen , but I think will have to wait for a while until this pandemic stopped ...not only enjoying the scenery you explain very well all its history ...Thank you so much ....
All the mediterranean french coast from the catalan coast to azur coast is one of the most beautiful side ... Its underrated i think, and lot of people forget also the french catalan coast (Collioure, Banyuls sur Mer, Argeles, Canet Barcares), its worth it !!
I got a job in antibes and I am so excited to move there.
The facial expression of this guy eating the fish stew...priceless
be like living in Disney World...
A half-hour virtual vacation to the Riviera for my Mother’s Day treat! So beautiful.

Excellent trip by Rick
Such a beautiful place.
Hello Ricks Steve, i have notice your VLOG just only last year. I am not sure if when was that month. But when I watched your VLOGGED , i really admired and i saw it very impressive. Congratulation. God Bless you more.
The flowers of the Saleya market come from Morocco since the 70s. There is no more production since the buildings have grown everywhere in the Alpes Maritimes.
Thank you, Rick, for showing us the south of France with outstanding video and historically-rich narrative. I learned so much!
Great city with great cultural heritage.. Awesome beautiful.. I love it
The best of Rick Steves terrific tours, Like the story of Picasso' rebirth as anartist,t Rick teaches us more than art history classes or the rigidly controlled museum tours we have taken.
So happy to see such beautiful places. Thank you Sir for taking me in the universe!💛💖💚💙💜
I've been to Nice, Cannes and Monte Carlo and enjoyed it very much.
Me too
I love these. And I already miss people who live and create with a decent mindset.
Pretty place pretty people ☺☺☺
Rented apt in Nice for a month spring and fall till 2023.2 weeks in aix de provence! Paris too! Love to travel goodbye covid!
2004 was a terrific year!
It has been years since my college days abroad and other trips to the Cote Azure, and Nice in particular. My first student trip involved the coastal train, hanging out the seaside windows , and passing students in and out of the windows at various stopping points. I remember the gigantic peaches on each table, which were delicious, but we didn't realize we had to pay for them! Everyone had to divvy up ! We laughed a lot, of course 🤣!
BTW, those " lovely" beaches were stones, not sand like our North Carolina Crystal Coast beaches! Your bottom could really tell after a few minutes!
Uniquely Chic pantai lebar memanjang ombak kecil biru luar biasa. banyak orang berjemur juga gambar lukisan indah. pemandangan hijau
beautiful coverage and presentation thanks lot especially Chagall paintings
Thank you Rick brilliant, great video.
Celine Dion impressed me. Even she is Canadian. Now I like to improve my French language and visit France once. Beautiful language!
Mr. Steves is a fantastic host!
Corona isolation... I am travelling around the world with Rick Steves.
Visiting there is on my bucket list , as I sit here and rapidly age in South America , during Covid lockdown !
Professional, accurate and exactly as it is. I never tire of this gorgeous area. Avoid high season!
It is so good to watch Rick’s beautiful travel episodes, especially during these pandemic times. Thank you, Rick!
Want to join you Rick😊..This what the life is all about..just explore n enjoy things
I love the scenes in the old town market in Nice. Julia Child herself used to shop amongst all of those vendors for decades. I was especially intrigued by the bit when Rick talks about Socca, the chickpea based flatbread sold in the market. Julia Child filmed a special segment in the market about the Socca for her original “The French Chef” television show nearly fifty years ago. Its astounding they still prepare and transport the same products as they did so many years ago.
Good overview for reference. Thanks.
Nice is so nice, sunny and colorful! ❤💕
Always, wonderful information.
I was in this area in 2014. Did a self guided walking tour with a company called Walk in Provence. From Tende in the Alps down to Menton on the coast. Unforgettable experience. Even put a foot into Italy. The views from the hilltop village of Saint Agnes out over the Mediterranean. Gorgeous. Good times. 🙂
Love Provençe.
@@amylynnhunt55 Well, that area is not historic Provence , and Rick explained. It is Alpes-Maritime., which was the old County of Nice.
Some parts were ceded to France from Italy only after WWII.
Frenchman’s Riviera a great place to rest a view the museums.and eat and relax with great coffee. Churches a must love the religiosity of the each church.Museums of light Matisse a favourite.great colour.Matisse a great artist I loved to view thanks for the trip Rick on the Rivera trip
Cote d'Azur is one of not so many places that i really want to go back to, it's just an amazing place to be.
I was in Nice last summer. After watching this I want to go there again. I missed too many things :-(
I'll go again. Absolutely. God told Moses Thou Shall Not Kill. But God did NOT say - thou shall not lobotomize. First crime - FULL FRONTAL LOBOTOMY. Problem solved everyone's happy and alive.
UNNIE AYILLIATH I just went there recently and now I feel like going back after watching this video , I feel your pain bro😩
One of my beloved and favourite channels. And I am really proud to be an honoured part of my beloved and respected Steve’s videos and awesome channel. May god almighty always blesses you all with health wealth and prosperity and happiness and a healthy life full of love and blessings. And a millions and millions of tons of love 💔 and blessings from India 🇮🇳 my beloved motherland. And especially from Punjab and especially from Amritsar city.
Don't forget unknown Menton because it's the most beautiful city in french Riviera !
I recommend !
Great video ... I live in the French Riviera (i'm also french) in a famous village who is called " Saint Paul de Vence " it's beautiful , if someone goes there ^^
The video is a little old ; specialy for Monaco (they add many many buildings =/) and it's bad that you forget St Tropez or Mandelieu , it's wonderful :)
Vive la côte d'azur :D
I visited St Paul de Vence- this past November. It was amazing! Beautiful.
I wish Monaco had fewer buildings. It must make people angry to lose their beautiful views. But the Grimaldi family really brought it back to life, Grace was the best thing to happen there in the 20th Century.
very interisting video to see the building so beautiful
What a beautiful and mature presentation...thanks Steves...
Bonjour....magnifique video... Merci...
Beautiful place magic thanks
The Picasso art work inside is heaven
Beautiful city, lovely place to eat and shopping. great video Thank you very much. cant wait to enjoy beautiful place like this one.
My favorite place on earth/paradise on earth! I was only born there & visited it once. I wish I could go to the Côte d'Azur every year in May, June, September or October. Your videos are amazing! I watch them to travel via UA-cam since I can't otherwise :( .

Come to Cyprus!! You will see more beauties
I see greece, italy, spain and croatia. Many things in common.
Love your videos Steve! For my English class , I used to watch your videos on national Tv. I Learned new expressions and moreover I visited many places and enjoyed it through your videos. glad I found them on UA-cam too :-)

Many years ago I was lucky enough to visit Nice, Cannes and Monte Carlo. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you Rick, enjoyed your company! So long to go back to the French Riviera, but as that's not possible, this little trip with you was worth a lot.
Merci.
Grace Kelly went to Cannes as part of a panel for the film festival not to make a movie and that's when she met Prince Ranier. Ranier was so respectful of tradition that he flew to meet Grace's parents so as to ask for her hand in marriage. 'Can you provide well for our daughter?' 'Well, I'm a Prince.' 'So you're working steady?'
Thankyou forever
Love the bloopers - thanks for your videos ❤️🇹🇹
I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH
Rick Steves killing it with the shots as always
