Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes sent a product by a supplier which I may include if the product fits planned content and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. The product needs to be worthy of a review and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the content in any way. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many product offers are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
Replying to Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. This is not just for me as the creator, it is a valuable source of information for all readers of the comments. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes significant time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! So my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live for the first few hours at least, and beyond that when possible. I'll see how that works out 😊
Please consider subscribing and being notified to keep up to date with new video releases.

I come here just to listen to the soothing way Jon pronounces “Amazon”
I never knew Amazon could sound smooth! 😁
Or "lan-yard." Mmmmm.

Without doubt, the best produced and delivered edc channel.I very often skip during other review channels but not Jon’s.His delivery is superb and well timed, not rushed and great close ups of what he’s explaining at the time.Great work Jon,cheers.
Wow, thanks! Appreciated
I 💯 agree😊
You have quickly become one of, if not my favourite edc youtubers. You consistently make useful content, you chapter/timestamp the videos, they're well written and well researched, with you providing accurate conversions for the various units. You're straightforward and get to the point quickly, and your sponsors are all relevant to the content. Not to mention that because you're from the UK, all your recommendations are legal for me aswell, due to me also living here.
With that said, I appreciate you man! Keep up the good work. 👍
I feel like I have gone full circle here. I started EDC for myself by watching (amonst others, but mainly JG) and found the pro bike tool on Amazon a little over a year ago and added it you my own kit. Now I see Jon has found it also and I feel a joy that this is a nice, positive community which seek to help each other by making content and spreading awareness about how to sort out our everyday struggles. Cheers!
Wonderful video! Thanks for all of the great reviews!
You’re the best in the biz, Jon!
Very kind - thank you
Always enjoy your videos. And your info. cheers Mate ❤
Much appreciated
Hi, Jon great content just what I need this time of year please keep them coming.
I think there is a deal on it - I'm sure you'll be very pleased with it
Just ordered the Pocket Deck tray, really looking forward to using it. Thanks Jon!
I look forward to watching these videos. They are very well done.
Glad you like them!
Great job as always. Very much appreciated!
My pleasure!
Your productions are coming on bigger and better and its credit to you and Jamie. thanks again
Thank you
Such class products. Thank you sir!
Thank you for the links. They are very helpful.
You are welcome!
Great video, loved that multitool @ the end, good pricepoint. Thank you
It is fantastic value
Great video with a lot of useful and interesting recommendations, thank you!
good to hear
Great video as always .. thank you
Great selection, Jon, and quality items to suit every budget. 👍
Thank you 👍
I agree on the Boruit! Great little light!
My EDC comb is the Chicago Comb #2 in Black Titanium. I vary my appearance in hair length & facial hair, the antistatic properties are really nice
Always click watch when Mr Gadget comes up.
Thank you!
Vos revues cher Monsieur sont vraiment d'une qualité exceptionnelle. Je ne m'en lasse pas. Thank god I learned english in my young age..
Thanks for the kind feedback - more to come.
Another perfect video, guys 😊
Thanks Eyal
Bought the ratchet set on your recommendation. Thanks!
Since I am also a fan of mini ratchet/bit driver sets, I always carry it since we live in the Netherlands and cycling is a big part of our day. My preference are the Topeak products, little more premium price, but the quality is stand-out, i.e. Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite DX Multi-Tool
larq has really gotten to all of you edc youtubers haven’t they
Many thanks
Oh I’m pretty early, good video Jon🗣️
Some great pics here and looking forward to jamie recommending even better stuff. Cos. You know. He's won the head to head twice now.
those Larq bottles do look nice, very nice styling , but I ended up going for the the pure clear water bottle.
very good exposé
That spectacle case gives me the shivers. Looks gorgeous but sit on it? Expensive trip to the opticians.
yes - will prevent scratches but not being squashed!
I have one of those V3 lights, it's amazing the output and runtime on such a compact package. I have no doubt of the 900lm. Somes tests I have made show it's OK to with being submerged
Will the comb fit in the small leather sheath please Jon? Seems a perfect match.
Hi Jon another fantastic video , what was the make of ear buds you recommended in previous vid many thanks Paul
Keep up the great work we all appreciate it
Thanks - Soundcore I believe NC4 I think
Jon you have a very bad influence on my bank account !!
Thank you! 🎉
I bought the Boruit V3 flashlight months ago and it's been really great so far. Fantastic for the price. Love the Pro Bike Tool Ratchet too. May grab one of them for my Maxpedition Mini.
Great to hear! - thanks for sharing.
A tip for an EDC pocket dump try. Steal one of those drawer divider things from your top drawer at work.
😁
I saw that the first flashlight was on sale for a limited time on Amazon for $16 and I ordered it. Friday, November 17th.
Ive had that light for a few months now, found it due to jons suggestions a while back, good little light. Great price.
@@twistedxvengeanceThere’s a similar looking one from Uben, but it’s a bit more expensive. This one I can afford.
Like the pocket clip, however the wave already has a lanyard loop, lots of people don’t seem to realise it is there
Thanks for this video. I've just put in an order for 2 x Keysmart Mag Connect Pros.
I have an Alox Mini Champ and a Rovyvon A8 on my keychain but I wanted the facility to disconnect them for use (as I have lot of keys and they become cumbersome to use). The previous design seemed too insecure but the addition of the dovetail sorts out that problem.
Glad it was useful
The Wave+, Surge and a few other Leatherman tools have a secret lanyard ring already built in for anyone that is thinking of buying that set for the ring only.
I do use the pocket clip on my tools though and they are decent.
I've got a couple of those Boruit keychain lights, bought a black one, then kicked myself when I saw the GiTD option so EDC that now. It's great that a quick blast of UV charges it up. I've moved out of the city now, but the red / blue strobe options might have come in handy when I was walking the dogs, I sometimes came across people up to no good, so a quick flash of that might have made them think the Police were on their way,....
Swiss Advance Hippus Fork - a collapsible and reusable fork that's really tiny when not in use; also available with a knife, which I don't neet because I also have a
Victorinox Cadet - extremely unobtrusive and inconspicious Swiss Army knife with sluminium scales
Fabach Trolley Master - if you live in a country where shopping carts are equipped with a coin deposit system
I come in trepidation knowing it’s likely to cost me
😬
Just one thing on water purification. UV will indeed kill organisms (and you can get the same effect by leaving a normal transparent water bottle out in the sun) but it WON’T deal with industrial chemicals, heavy metals etc. So I’d be very wary of using it in urban environments in developing countries.
LARQ make a filter for their bottles too which deals with chemicals and particles like micro plastics - using both is good belt and braces
@@JonGadget afaik only reverse osmosis filters can remove chemicals in solution.
@@bob_the_bomb4508… I don’t know enough about removing chemicals and metals from water but I can smell and taste the chlorine added to the water in the town my parents live in so I bought them a charcoal element filter / pitcher combo and it made a huge improvement.
aw bummer, was totally about to buy that bike tool for a friend, but it looks like they suffer from success and are frequently sold out haha
Aside from all the awesome video content this guy puts out how is nobody going to say that he doesn’t sound like LTJ bukem?! 😂
As for a flashlight, I still have my RovyVon. I need to upgrade, but the size is the same as a Son-of-a-Bic lighter. The need for an upgrade is that it uses a micro usb.
Leatherman keeps nickel and diming. Done with them. I have my Charge in a car.
The Pro Bike Tool is very interesting.
Nextool EDC Keychain Multitool is crazy. I highly suggest that everyone has this on a key ring.
thanks for the feedback
Just in time for my secret santa wishlish
Hey Jon, i am not a fan of magnetic key ring connectors. I use the victorinox keyring clutch for years now and i have not had my keys separate once. Did you ever try these out? Should cost around 5-7 pounds i would guess. Thank you for your nice video. Have a good one. Greetings from Germany
Guten Tag! Thanks for sharing.
I don't need any gear and have condensed my edc down to what I'm happy with. Actually I am trying to liquidate a lot of possessions tbh. That said...the flashlight at the beginning may be a great emergency light to keep in the car and take on trips (hiking etc). The fact that it has the strobe/blinking lights as well as a beam would be great for getting found in the dark. I tend to like lights with replaceable batteries though.
Thanks for sharing 👍
I actually just got the pocket clip for my wave today. I like it because I like to have my wave around the house. But I don’t like wearing my sheath around the house. So allows me to just slip it into my pocket and it disappears.
Perfect use case
Also for anyone wondering it does fit into the leatherman nylon sheath with the clip on. I don’t know if it’ll be the same when I get my tail of knives sheath but if not it’s easily removable.
the SIM card holder and pin with the passport holder is a excellent idea, as the counties one travels to, its best to get a SIM card and account for that country one travels in, we tend to switch the SIM card back once we have landed in our home country. and communicating with family on the other side of the world is done threw wifi via WhatsApp. or FaceTime, as direct phone calls can be very expensive in some countries.
Check out e-sims also
Jon I can’t find the single pocket viperade leather sheath anywhere.
I see you checked the other link now 👍
Bibury Multitool is made of 3cr13. The full chemical composition:
0.3% Carbon
13% Chromium
1% Silicon
1% Manganese
0.6% Nickel
0.04% Phosphorus
0.03% Sulfur
hardness of 3cr13 is usually between about 50 and 58 HRC depending on the heat treatment
3cr13 has a moderate hardness which makes it very easy to resharpen
The glasses case link does not seem to work. thanks for the video.
Works for UK but not available everywhere I'm afraid
Thanks for the reply, I found them on their site and ordered one. I have been looking for something like this.
What umbrella would you recommend for EDC?
I subject I need to research - it's a size and capability trade off - will sort for future video 👍
Not on my model wave it clips in, and it stays completely locked
yes Wave works - Surge is wobbly
Nice comb…wonder what the beardy weirdy is getting from Santa 🧐 👍
nothing now!
Provided the that bottle has the correct lamp with enough power, it is really good. You would need then about 10 seconds to clean it. Doesn't keep out sludge of course, but you could let it rest mabye? or a coffee filter.
there is a filter you can get for the bottle too - worth checking it out
@@JonGadget Ahh they have thought it through, good ;)
@@JonGadget I've had a look at their website. It looks like you have to buy a filter bottle and also carry a UV cap. So it looks like a 2 step process to get it filtered and disinfected. I'm sure in time they'll combine the two.
they have a filter cap for this bottle.....
@@JonGadget Yes, there is a filter cap and a UV cap. So, either way, you will have to carry a 2nd cap if you want filtering and disinfection. I would imagine they are working on combining UV and filtering in one cap.
Boruit V4 vs Rovyvon E3???
I would like to talk with you about some products that I would like to see if they are worth purchasing
.... We want More! We want More! .... (Jamie.)
🤣
that will make him happy
Is that some sort of citizen promaster full lume dive watch you're wearing?
Luminox Navy Seal 👍
@@JonGadget Ah yes, that's the one you spoke about a while ago, I forgot that, looks great!
You should collab woth the outdoor boys
You could go camping with eachother and use the gedgets you show on the channel
The link for the MOSI Glasses Case points to another vendor with the same name on Amazon.
thanks for feedback - link works for UK - but this is not available everywhere I'm afraid
@@JonGadget I figured as much. Looking at the Mosi site, this case seems ideal for reading glasses, but not for some of my larger sets
No Mossi glass case or Bike tool kit in USA! ❤
I purchase quite a lot of Amazon US gear from the UK - costs are not bad and it takes 1-2 weeks - I'm guessing that would work in reverse for you too?
You are right but should be able to purchase from Amazon UK (I buy a lot from Amazon USA)
I'd love for someone to document Jon's US dollar to British pound exchange rate over the years... even in this video he said 16 pounds or 15 US dollars! :) I always just assumed 1 USD being 0.80 of a GBP
on the amazon videos we check the price on amazon US and quite often items are cheaper in the US. :-)
Ah, you were stating Amazon prices while I was wondering about conversion rates! Understood!@@JonGadget
Who polishes your head ?
It's self polishing 😁
The multitool looks very much like the Gerber Suspension NXT
yes it does, with exception of scales - could be out of same factory or a copy or linked business - always hard to know
Honestly those "secret" pockets for Airtags on bags or anything that's mostly soft and flexible are pointless. Like they won't feel it. Also such things, especially on things that are or claim to be higher end pretty much always have one these days and most thieves will be well aware of such things by now.
Possibly - but why not? since the main use-case is when lost or left behind somewhere - theft protection is a bonus
@@JonGadget I mean OK but if the main use case is if lost etc why bother making it a hidden pocket. I've no issues with using a Tag makes a lot of sense for certain things just feel like a "hidden" pocket is a bit gimmicky. I guess it depends on how they go about it and if it actually looks, works better for the overall design.
Nine! ;)
I wonder what happened to QVC.
Is it not still there?
QVC is still around. All day every day along with HSN and the Jewelry channel. At least where I live in the Midwest, USA
Kinda annoying that they had the spot in the charge and wave and yet had the audacity to not include it with the purchase
fair point
And you have to mod it to boot
Yes!
That first flashlight is just a rebrand. I bought that exact same one on temu for 8 dollars 😂
there's a lot of copies out there and not always the same inside - I think this is the original
No locking blade in the UK is that accurate 🤔, that makes for a dangerous knife😬.
Slip joint knives are notorious for closing on people's fingers.
Why would they make such a dangerous law🤷, it makes no sense.
What other tools did they decide to make more dangerous?
Did they outlaw retractable blade guards on circular saws too?
Maybe outlaw the chain brake on chainsaws too🤷.
how are you gonna do Jamie like that 😂
not sure exactly what that means - I shall ask my wife!
Gerber Suspension NXT Clone? Okay...
Flashlight is $4-5 on AliExpress
With the potential to blow up in your pocket, no thanks.
@@twistedxvengeance you wanna guess where the ones off Amazon came from?
not all the same - lots of copies - might be but might not.....
Jon, you need to check your comments. Something going on here that your comments thread isn't designed for.
Thanks ill sort it :-)
thanks Susan - these pop up quite a lot these days - sorted
@@JonGadget Great!
Sorry, I did not find the pure sheath of Viperade you showed at the beginning on Amazon!? …. Now I found it in the second link! Sorry
My glasses cost me 800 euro.... so hardcase only for me. softshell for glasses is a Never for me
3:35 -- and what with the "Black Goo"??!
I`m most afraid of...
Ohh NO!! It just looks like a carrier of black goo 8-{
That multi-tool looks an awful lot like a certain model by a certain company that makes bad multi-tools.
Very similar to Gerber - could be a copy ir out of same factory - hard to tell - price is a differentiator here
I need to stop watching these. Just ordered the tomtoc travel wallet and the torch as Amazon have black Friday deals
that's good to know 👍
@@JonGadget jokes aside, I really enjoy your videos and it helps me narrow down from a vast selection online.
I’m after a pouch/pocket that attaches to a rucksack/bag shoulder strap next so I can slide my phone into it whilst walking and have it at chest level.
If you come across any ideas or alternatives then I’d be interested :-)
That sponsor’s charge cable looked suspiciously like micro usb. Why haven’t they dragged themselves kicking and screaming into the century of the fruitbat yet?!
Самый бестолковый ролик из ранее вышедших у Джона(
Sponsored videos are lame
A vaccination card slot !! Unbelievable
Seriously who uses amazon anymore. Ive been shipped so many defective products that sellers try to offload onto unsuspecting buyers that I no longer trust Amazon. Especially with tech. Amazon customer service use to care but not anymore. My final straw was getting something sent to Amazon locker but it was a new style where you had to download the App( huge no for me because its incredibly invasive to your privacy) to open the locker. I relented and it still would not open so my product got sent back. There is no way you reading this have not experienced Amazon shennanigans. I dont care now if it costs a little more but i buy from the shipper or in the USA Ill use Walmart plus which so far has been excellant but lacking as large a selection.
No USB-C on the LARQ bottle? That's like having a smartphone with a rotary dial! 😂 I'll stick with my Katadyn Befree - it's less techy, but at least it knows what decade it's in! 🚫🔌🕰
I believe they are working on an update for next year 👍
Lol my 3yr old saw a rotary phone yesterday asked me what that was I told her a phone and she told me to stop being silly
COULD YOU PLEASE PROVIDE ME YOUR EMAIL
Do they sell shampoo with that comb?
